  1. Arg... that's what I get for having too many windows open lol. Accidentally posted in the wrong forum. Sorry folks.
  2. If you don't want spoilers or images in regards to the Christmas special 'End of Time' which is David Tennant's finale do not read below.

    Quote:
Who is David Tennant standing next to in this photo? The answer reveals a lot about the storyline of Tennant's final adventure as the time-traveling eccentric in Doctor Who, and its impact on the show's mythos. Major, huge spoilers below.

No, really. This is a massive spoiler. Are you sure you're down with that? Okay then.

Yes, that's John Simm, probably returning as the Master, the Doctor's arch nemesis and fellow Time Lord from the planet Gallifrey. And on the other side of Tennant? Timothy Dalton, having a view to a kill as some kind of Time Lord dignitary, complete with Gallifreyan bathrobe and medallion. It's been rumored for ages that Simm was coming back for Tennant's finale. And it's also been rumored that Dalton will be showing up, playing the Chancellor of the High Council of Time Lords. This picture, which appears to show Tennant, Simm and Dalton clowning around between takes, seems to clinch both of those rumors.

I have to say, if the Master causes Tennant's Doctor to regenerate into Matt Smith, then it's going to be the third time this has happened. The Master polished off Tom Baker's Doctor (in "Logopolis") and Sylvester McCoy's Doctor (in the can't-believe-it's-canon TV movie.) You'd think after someone killed you three times, you might start getting a bit stroppy. That's almost a quarter of the Doctor's lives, right there.

Already knew Dalton was coming back as a Time Lord (reports are he's the Meddling Monk but that's unconfirmed) but if there were ever any doubt that huge honking Seal of Rassilon on his chest is a dead giveaway lol

Oh and btw . . . . this issue has already made the game seem new and fresh for me! Had no idea changing the colour of powers was THAT effective!
and just think... it only took 5 years of begging, crying and throwing a temper tantrum to get it

True enough Bill. I am never surprised at nerfs or changes at this game anymore. It's not a question of why anymore as to WHEN.

The first tasty candy highlights a general overview of "Costume Creator 2.0", as well as a few powersets, especially Super Strength (alt animations!), Spines (alt spines!), Martial Arts (alt animations!), and several others.

Next up, is a wonderful 1765 Bordeaux, such a wonderful year! This masterpiece, direct from a wonderful vineyard, is chock full of rich Stalker preview goodness! It presents all the alternative animations available for the Martial Arts Stalker variant, as well as another demonstration of spines (including a fabulous color match, if I say so myself!) along with a few new touches on the "pom poms of doom", and to top it off, a preview of the newly proliferated Broadsword powerset for Stalkers! Wasn't 1765 a fabulous year?

Also on the menu tonight is a lovely serving of caviar. This caviar is often considered the 5th wonder of the world, starting to make a come back to what was rightfully theirs. Also on display, is an example of a multi-colored EM/ in action... I must say I am quite fond of the bright green TF, if I say so myself!

Next on the menu is a wonderful- yeah, screw it. Next is a video showing the new difficulty system called 'SRSLY'.

Lastly, we have a video of the dual pistol set from Going Rogue! It's pretty freaking sick!
Just a word of advice. Never post on the boards after smoking a full bowl of crack. Just a suggestion

Don't feel bad man. I've got millions of stories far more funnier and pathetic like that. How about the time I was on my level 31 empath/energy defender back in like I3 or I4 and a level 13 scrapper came up to me and sent a tell

Lvl 13 Scrapper: powr lvl mi and go kill

Me: Excuse me? Do I know you?

Lvl 13 Scrapper: ****head go kill fer mi. you high levl

Me: Okay not only do I not appreciate you using profanity at me but my friend I'm a level 31 empath/energy defender. I'd like to be able to SOLO myself (tongue in cheek).

Lvl 13 Scrapper: u hgh lvel and can kil fast. pls powr lvl or boss angri at mi
I quickly got the hell out of there and not only reported him for harassment but also logged off my toon period and went for a walk. I just had to clear my head and try and process how moronic the human race can be lol

Or just hunt Striga when everything cons grey to you so you can wipe them out with like 1-2 hits. But on topic. Power leveling has been in this game since day 1 and while the devs have made an effort to remove the more blatant forms of it as long as sidekicking exists in this game PLing will too.
  10. Or how about that giant honking door in the Hive which would have been used for the trial they had planned for the Hive but never followed through on.

To which BaB's responded "Welcome to day 1 of closed beta. Told you guys it wasn't as fun as you all seemed to think they were."

Closed Beta is not some exclusive club, to which you need the secret password in order to get in. And as for the so-called "elite" you speak of, if you mean players that along with just playing the game, the also have the dedication to pound/peck/twist/contort something so see if they can break it, and report their findings to the Dev's, then yes, I suppose there are an "elite" class of players. They would be the ones you don't hear saying "Why should I do the Dev's job for them?" They are the one's that do this out of their love for the game.
But on the flip side to be fair. Even a lot of well documented bugs like all the problems with MA were pushed through to Live for some unknown reason. That ticked a lot of people off too.

But I have yet to be invited to any closed betas. I know this thread will be read by less than average intelligent people and they will no doubt choose to insult me about this post, or nag about it. But I would like to know. My whole family are CoH players. My main toon is Kravist, my wifes toon is Agent Monroe, and my daughter plays various characters as she is still learning to play. So we are avid players who want to contribute.

Anyway, What are the requirements or guidelines you put in place to judge someone qualified for closed beta?
Just be patient and wait for your invite like everyone else. No one really knows. I've been invited to 3 closed betas myself the in the first wave and I've been playing the game since Beta. I've always filed several bug reports and tried to test the issue as much as possible to help out and yet I was not invite for I14 or this one yet. Why? Who knows. Maybe they wanted to give someone else a chance at testing other than a veteran like me. Maybe I wear glasses and someone found out at Paragon Studios and they don't like people unless they wear contacts? It's pointless to try and figure out the why. Just accept it and move on.
  13. It's always awesome when an old player returns to the fold. You picked one of the best times too. With I16 on it's way and Going Rogue gearing up it's a great time to be playing COH

    'Who is Jack?'

That's a very hot topic and often leads to fights and disagreements. Even to this day Jack has supporters and followers in this game that cling to the notion everything he did was super-duper-awesome-candy with a side order of bacon. I'd just tell whomever asks that it's a VERYYYYYYYYY long story and if they don't have a half an hour to kill learning about him just know he's gone and were better off for it.

What the hell is this? Is this a sound bug or something? Or is this sounds from a secret room like the Cyrptic offices in Grandville that have a few sounds coming from strange places?

Anyone know what's going on? I thought I heard this the other day coming out of another building but I didn't pay attention to it. Is the outside of the building supposed to sound like a crowded restraunt?
There are all kinds of little bugs and glitches like that all over the game. It's tiny problems that they've either never gotten around to or considered so insignificant that it wasn't worth the time to look into. Pay it no heed.
  16. That's why when we were migrating to the new boards I made a checklist of things to do. First thing when the boards came online was to disable the Rep meter which serves no purpose. Second was to punch in all the names I had ignored into the new server CP so that I didn't have to worry about any surprises when I started posting/browsing.

  18. God Bless you AC. I've seen your posts for years and while I didn't always agree with you I did always value your opinion. You are one of a select few on these boards I can say has a truly deep appreciation for this game and a great head on your shoulders. I'll pray for you and that you find success in your chosen field. I thank you for all your stimulating posts and sometimes hard headed opinions that led to so many heated yet fun conversations. Go with God man and may you find happiness in your life and if you ever get a chance drop on by and say hi to the gang from time to time

Don't feel bad. This happened to me the first time just as it did to MANYYYYYY people.

As far as other people. God the list could go on for pages. But my most fondest memory is once when we were doing some missions back in about I5 I think and it was me and 3 or 4 other SG members with a PuG tanker. She was a Fire/Mace tanker that was 48 which already made me suspicious since Mace back then sucked BIG time but as long as she could tank that didn't bother me. She kept getting stunned like every 5 seconds and we had to wait after every mob for the stuns and holds to wear off her before moving on. Finally I got so frustrated I asked her "Is your Plasma shield bugged or something? You shouldn't be getting mezzed like this".

She replied along the lines of "Oh I hate Plasma Shield I never picked it up on this character."

To which I exasperated retorted "You hate Plasma Shield? It's your MEZ protection hun of course your getting stunned left and right. Why didn't you pick it and how the hell did you ever get 48 levels without it?"

Completely bewildered at my astonishment she said "Oh I didn't pick Plasma Shield because I hate the aura and it covers up my costume. Besides you don't really need mez protection as a tanker and it's never been a problem."

So either she was lying or she was as dense as diamond because her answers alone told me she was a complete chowderhead. Didn't matter though because half way through the map after she kept getting stunned every other second (we were fighting Malta) and becoming hysterical that she couldn't function she left the team anyway

"Oh you beat the hydras...okay, now run to Brickstown and talk to this guy on the other side of the zone!"

Well, I don't run that many story arcs and it's been a while since I did one of these annoying FedEx missions, so alright, off I go.

Oro to Bricks, run across the zone to the hospital, talk to the guy, get the totally predictable mission right back where I started...and it's the same freakin' kill all, on the same freakin' map that I just cleared.

Oh wait, this time there are some glowies to click and a boss to beat, so I guess that makes it okay?

Logged out in annoyance to check the market on some of my other characters and to whine about it here.

Just a reminder to everyone that there's a reason lots and lots of players prefer the convenience of content that doesn't send you all over the world before handing you a carbon copy of the mission you just did.
Yup it's pretty sad sometimes but when you get to PI everything past 45 in the 45-50 range most of the missions are pretty meh. Some of the storylines are interesting like Crimson and his World Wide Red arc but other than a few exceptions the missions are pretty sub-standard.

Hell I'm not even sure I17 is GR. I mean it's possible but until we get some more concrete word it's premature to speculate.
