    This is very true, I have trained myself to use weaker attacks in order to finish off weaker enemies, mostly from playing corrs and utilizing scourge to defeat mobs with the least overkill possible.

    This is even more important pre-SOs and pre-stam (pre-19), where you don't want to spend extra effort on an enemy that didn't warrant the endurance expenditure. I translated this onto my other characters especially while leveling.

    Edit: Also scourge scales very well when you start fighting things at a much higher con then normal, where even LTs take some effort to kill and dont get wiped from just random AoEs. And certain bosses that can take ages to kill. (like Cim bosses)

    APPs =\= PPPs,

    He is talking about the epics that came from hero side, which are full of tier 1 blasts and melee attacks, and some shields. Unlike the patrons that all have AoE immobs and some type of shield, along with other powers.
  3. A crab spider was able to do the pylon test in a very very respectable time in the scrapper forums. Even tho it was a specialized build, apparently the pets did a large portion of his damage.

    You can stay offended, I'll take my softcapped S/L defense or my 90% S/L 'resistance' on my MM.

  7. I'm not going to respond that to all of text with quotes, but all I have to say is this, if you thing that using pets is harder then blasting on a defender and takes up more time then you are spending too much time baby sitting them. I have no problem using all my support powers on MY bot/dark, using bodyguard mode and still keeping all my support powers on cooldown as needed.

    Also personal defense IS your own support, unless you want to say that support can only come from other people? or a buff? Things like World of Pain is as much support for yourself as others.

    The formula is MaxEnd * (1 + RecoveryBuff) / 60, so the break-point between EndMod IOs and PS procs is when the enhancement (0.424 of the power's Recovery buff) gives an extra 0.2 EPS.

    0.2 = (MaxEnd/60)*(0.424*PowerRecovery)
    12 = 0.424*MaxEnd*PowerRecovery
    28.30 = MaxEnd*PowerRecovery

    For a character with no MaxEndurance bonuses, that means the IO is better if the power's native recovery bonus exceeds 28.3% - so Quick Recovery gets more from the IO, but Stamina prefers the proc even on the first slot.

    If your maximum Endurance is 113.2 or more, though, the EndMod IO pulls ahead in the first slot. Regardless, if you're three-slotting stamina, QR, or whatever, the third IO is hit by so much ED that it's only worth 0.1412 actual enhancement, replacing the 0.424 in the eqation, and giving a no-MaxEnd-boost break point of 84.99% native recovery boost. To get that down to even Quick Recovery's 30% boost, you need 283 Endurance at maximum. So yeah, the PS proc is definitely a better deal for the third slot.

    Also, the PS proc is not unique. You can slot it in both PP and Stamina, and enjoy an extra 0.4 EPS. If you only have one, though, put it in PP - lower base values means smaller gains from normal enhancements, and a bigger relative gain from procs and their constant boosts.
    Not to mention, since you gain endurance and not recovery, its immune to -recovery debuffs and you can still gain end while having your recovery flatlined.

    Ok, so my argument for 'petless' seems to suffer from a black/white view of either having all pets or none; taking Lich and possibly Grave Knights but skipping the horde would cut the amount of pet buffing in half and remove the squishier stuff so reduce resummon costs a lot. Does skipping the tier 1 pets sound reasonable? Getting bubbles and fearsome stare on the same character is definitely appealing enough to take Lich again, and Grave Knights look like they do a lot more damage than the Horde would for the amount of maintainance required.

    Edit: Uh, this thread is about Static Field? Sorry about the major threadjack :/
    Your pets support YOU by keeping you alive, even if they did no damage, unless you don't know what Bodyguard mode is or don't use it? By taking the pets, I can use my support to keep the rest of the team alive, instead of completely relying on my secondary to keep me alive.

    Petless MMs are not unplayable, but dont go around saying that its allows more effective support compared to taking the pets, that's the same king of thing, 'pure support' defenders used to say for why they don't blast. It didn't work for them, and it doesnt work for petless MMs.

    Yes, the PS stacks can only occur from KM attacks, but after you get the stacks the +dmg is just generic +dmg, so it applies to all attacks, which boosts up things like APPs and attacks from your secondary, like Shield Charge and Damage auras.
  11. PS can't stack due to how its coded, its limited to 5 stacks of the buff, at all times. So if it refreshes during PS's duration, just save it until it runs out or if its not worth using immediatly, save it for the next spawn.

    For APPs or PPPs, I would go for one that has an AoE attack like Mu or Fire, to take advantage of the extra +dmg to combine with Brust for more AoE goodness.

    Just remember that the APP or PPP attacks wont stack up the PS buff, so use them after you finish stacking it up.

Petless MMs deliberately lose 5-6 powers from their primary, but a well built one is still playable as a support character; in fact without the pets to distract them it could be argued that they are better at that part of their role (and prior to GR this was the only way to get a /FF character redside.)

    Static field is a very good variation on a sleep with a nice secondary effect, but since there are some people (me included) that found they couldn't use it without the graphic effects giving them a headache, I know that the set is perfectly playable without it.

    Two of the four standard ATs that have mez protection have taunt inherents and auras, two don't and one even has placate and hide. Kheldians can fight in melee and skipping dwarf form hardly makes the character unplayable. Half the blaster sets include PBAoEs and blappers are a playable (if insane) build style. Mez protection is very useful, playing with it is a lot easier than playing without it, but it isn't essential to have a power in your build that gives it to you.
    Some scrapper secondaries have taunts in their auras. So thats three of four. Kheldians and Blasters aren't FORCED into melee range, they can when it is approperiate. IE when they know they wont get mezzed or can deal with it. The melee ATs CAN'T, beyond a few sets, they all operate purely at melee range, and overall have less ways of taking out a mezer besides just defeating it. So YES they will absorb more mezzes and can easily get killed if they get overwhelmed by mezzes, tsoo ink men are a perfect example of that.

    Square released the game knowing that it had many game ending flaws and convoluted systems. They told reviewers to hold off on reviewing the game until they could give the game its first major update, instead of just fixing this stuff during beta, where testers kept telling Square enix about all of these problems.
  14. Yes, WAI, you are not getting a free 20% defense slotted just for being a Bot MM, 10% defense for free is crazy enough.

    Half the ATs don't even have access to mez protection. Yes mez is annoying, but having a power that protects against it is only one way to combat the problem. The MFing tactics don't just work on warshades.
    The ATs that have mez protection tend to have powers that force enemies to target them over other players, which will cause them to absorb more mezzes then other ATs. And then there is the fact that they fight in melee range...

    On topic more, my Elec/Elec dom, now 27, hasn't taken Stamina. I've found the end return from Static Field and +recovery from Conductive Aura (3-slotted for end mod) have done me fine until now.
    Domination's end bar refill helps too of course, but its not felt critical, like I'm not gasping by the time I hit Domination, and often save it if I dont need to mez boost.
    Because of how Static Field and Conductive Aura scale, as long as you are fighting large enough spawns, you can easily stay positive or just max out in end.

    Its amusing to be almost empty and stand in a 8 spawn mob with Static Field and watch your end bar go up by a third per tick.
  17. For one build, you can only have one EPP or PPP, so you take either body, or leviathan or Mu. etc. This requires that you have the patron badge in order to take PPPs. You can also have a different power pool in your second build.

    As for Ice type damage, it helps but it's not gonna put you on par with Foot Stomp. Not even close. Face it, your powerset needs a buff.
    Um no sorry you are wrong, if you are going to start adding more power together, then you can't compared them to one power. Frozen Aura + Frost vs Footstomp + Rage. OH BUT WAIT, Ice melee still has build up. SS might beat out ice melee, especially in a high recharge build, but to state that it doesn't come close, you are being disingenuous.

    Frost is not 'subpar' for an AoE, if you cant easily fit at least 5 targets inside it, then im sorry, you aren't trying hard enough. It hitting less targets is balanced around that it does more damage then normal AoEs. *Hint you can increase the range of frost to expand the cone*

    I like how its somehow 'my powerset', and you still don't understand what a power CLONE is, when they make a power that has the exact or very similar stats as another power. The only change ice melee would need, is to make GIS an actual hard hitting power.

    Im sorry, did footstomp somehow become footstomp + rage? And then you discount that Ice also has Frost, which does more damage then frozen aura.

    I said Frozen aura is a footstomp clone which it is in every shape and form, besides damage type, secondary effect and radius, and I would bet all my inf that the devs would reduce Footstomp's radius if they could get away with it or get around to it. Frozen Aura is what footstomp WOULD have been if it was developed during the current administration.

    If GIS wasn't so terrible, ice melee would not have that bad rap for damage that it does. Luckily Frozen Touch is a very nice attack along with being a hold.

    And you also ignore that frozen aura is pure ice damage, which most NPC targets have no resistance to.

    I would not, however, recommend soloing a DA/Ice. The endurance requirements are harsh at early levels. Even at max level her damage is not very good, and she relies on the damage aura to do most of the work.

    Frost breath is one of the best damage-dealing powers in the ice set, and you'll regret not taking it. But it may not be strictly necessary.
    Unless you are just fighting high level bosses, that is completely false, Ice melee has very good AoE damage and can easily kill mobs and mobs of minions and LTs. If having a footstomp clone for an AoE isn't enough along with all of Ice melees other powers. then nothing is enough.

    Its ST damage is pretty terrible tho. Which is why soul mastery is an amazing powerpick for ice melee. gloom ftw.
  21. For Bot and Trap MMs, an AoE immoblize is godly for keeping everything inside your aoes, burning patches and trap powers. Slow patches like caltrops do help, but the enemies will sooner or later run out, especially if they are higher level then you.

    For shields, Scorp if you are not in a softcapped build, resistance if you are.

    IN sort, Mace mastery if you want the defense, Mu mastery if you want the res shield.

    Plus, with the barrage change, barrage is actually fairly useful on a stalker, especially when it crits.
    TF has just about garbage DPA, and the rest of the set is just about average, the only standout power is ET and its still slow, and one power doesn't an attack chain make.
