I blame Berman and Braga. The franchise was left in their hands way too long and they started doing some crazy **** with it.

Quote:Yeah, but Charlotte is a normal size spider, not a giant monster spider. I think the only way she could beat Gandalf is by distracting him with a beautiful web and then biting him on the throat or something. Or...wait, is Charlotte from a species of poisonous spider?I really want to pick Gandalf over Charlotte from Charlotte's Web, but he didn't face Shelob in the books.
Now, if it was Samwise...
Also, I'm disappointed that they didn't have Anne Frank vs. Lizzie Borden (granted, Lizzie isn't a hero, but still she must be on the list!). -
I agree that there was franchise fatigue going on with the Trek series. I think they should've stopped with Voyager (Enterprise was a mistake on a lot of levels), and then started stretching out the time between the TNG movies. It's disappointing that the TNG crew isn't going to get the send off it deserves, and even more disappointing that Patrick Stewart doesn't want to come back for another movie.
I would like to have seen the series produce one or two DS9 movies, too. Something to wrap up the fate of the crew, or deal with the Cardassians and their post-war reconstruction. Maybe have Sisko come back from the wormhole. -

That reminds me, I need to remember to catch up on ItsJustSomeRandomGuy's DC/Marvel videos.

Quote:I loved that bit, especially the hypocrisy of Quagmire hating Brian for trying to seduce Lois when Quagmire's been trying to sleep with her since the beginning of the series.Another one of those "expanding the characters"bits I really liked was when quagmire finally explains to brian why, in great detail, he doesn't like him.
edit: Oh, and I loved the season premier. I'm curious what the fall out is going to be from a few of the deaths. Especially with [spoiler]'s [spoiler] dead, are she and [spoiler] going to hook up again? -
Well what I mean is that the stuff that I'd like to talk about that would be cleaned up by the mods is stuff relating to other games (and this weekend I've been wishing to discuss the new Smuggler info released by TOR). So it's nothing embarrasing or anything, just stuff that would fit better in the CH/VC forum.

Nothing that would really be appropriate for this subforum (nor stupidly/hilariously rage filled).

If you can do something that's two minutes, I suggest Sisko's final monologue from the DS9 episode In the Pale Moonlight.

That was semi-gloss paint and textured paint, respectively. Spray-on fabric is new and innovative! And I foresee many pranks in the tagging community when their compatriots replace that can of spray paint with spray fabric.
-
You think those are clouds? You have been fooled by a most cunning disguise, for that is none other than Whinnie the Pooh attempting to covertly steal Praetoria's honey.

Spray-on clothing!
It's not terribly efficient (one can could only do the front of a slim person) or pretty, but it would make a good spray-on bikini. -
I'd buy that in a second. But it sounds like Activision's just going to lift the cutscenes from their games and sell those as they are, no added filler to bridge the scenes together. And that is quite stupid.

If you can find a copy, I recommend High Road to China. Expose your students to the glory of the Tom Selleck 'stache.

Quote:There's only so much that will fit comfortably on the inside of any piece of body armor, and there's no such thing as invincible armor. There are ways that such things could be made durable, but in the end they would still be a big weak point.First, I'm sure the military would have a way of keeping it relatively safe. They're not going to run out there with exposed tubing, pumps, etc. And even then, if you get shot/blown up, I'm pretty certain the last thing you'll be concerned with is how hot it is outside.

If one of the the objectives of the equipment is to lighten the load that these Special Forces guys have to carry, then wouldn't a water cooled suit be contradict that goal? Such a suit would need circulation pumps, heat exchangers, tubing, power supply, and enough water to circulate around the whole suit. That's all going to add on the pounds. Plus, it's a vulnerable system. Damage to the tubes, reservoir, pumps, heat exchangers, and power supply could cause failure of the entire system.

Quote:Yeah, I think there should be more simplicity in the designs. The stuff in the Voltron concept art looks way too busy, there's no obvious focal point for the viewer. Also, the lions need some meat on their bones, so to speak. The rib cage look doesn't look good on anything. The trouble is that what works in a piece of static art does not always work as well when in motion.
The designs for the Transformers movies weren't really bad, but in motion were just too confusing. Plus I just don't think Voltron should look so..... cobbled together. More Iron Man, less Blade Runner. -
I've always thought that Voltron looked way to bulky and rigid for a fighting robot (and I have the same opinion about the Power Rangers' various Megazords), so I have no objection to slimming it down and making it look more streamlined. Plus, there's also a Star Trek effect going on, where something that looked high-tech to its original audience looks like crap to newer audiences, thus requiring an update.

I like the look of the joined robots, but as individuals they look like lions with some sort of wasting disease or extreme anorexia.
