I think it's that Paragon Studios/NCSoft owns the rights to a character's appearance, since characters are physically (as it were) created in the costume creator. But the back story/personality of that character isn't really something they could copyright, since that's more or less in the player's head.

Who knows? If no one told the marketing people about the novel, then they certainly couldn't have said anything about it. And, depending on how recently it was published, you may be the first active forumite to come across the book. Or it could've come up in one of the threads about superheros in novels (though it seems like it's been a while since we had one of those) and just didn't get much attention.

Sounds interesting, but it probably hasn't been publicized by CoH because it doesn't seem to be an actual CoH novel.

12 Angry Men is awesome. You will be missed, Mr. Lumet.

Quote:I'd say it's a combination of hiring competent actors and directors, as well as distributors (or whoever) shelling out the money for a good script translation. It doesn't matter how good a voice actor is, if he or she is reading awkwardly worded lines, then it's never going to sound right.I think anime dubs in general have gotten better over the years, though. I've been watching a lot of anime streamed on Netflix, and for the most part it's been tolerable to decent. If I had to say why that is, I'd say it's a combination of me simply getting used to it combined with the fact that a lot of the line delivery seems to have gotten less restrained/flat over the years.

Quote:Saw it a few days ago, but I haven't watched it. The concept reminded me more of Mystery Men than CoH, though.I have to wonder if the guys behind this anime series were influenced by City of Heroes.

Quote:Well, if String Theory ends up going nowhere, then you'll be able to scoff at Kaku's entire life's workI've read his books because I like to read popular science for fun as an outgrowth of my interest in science fiction and I find Kaku entertaining but somewhat uneven. His predictions always strike me as hedging a little. Erring on the side of caution is what a good scientist does, but I want some crazy-*** predictions I can scoff at in 5 years' time, dangit.
I like Dr. Kaku, too. I read his book Hyperspace in high school, which introduced me to Flatland. And he seems like a pretty down-to-earth guy for a theoretical physicist. Too bad he's no Feynman, though. We need more physicists doing Nobel Prize winning work in strip clubs. -

The cable/satellite networks seem to prefer a season of less than twenty episodes. Dexter's Lab, for example, only had 13 episodes in each of its four seasons. I guess it's a cost cutting measure or something.

"Lose weight now, ask me how!"
Seriously, that's what my search message is. Only one person has ever asked, though -

Quote:Oh, it was a great series of conversations (although Brock's answer was a little on the mundane side). Still, I wouldn't want a Rusty Venture in any of its permutations. Ever. That might have been the best conversation that ever happened in the show.
Hell, it even included a reference to the USS Indianapolis!
I need to pick up the second half of season four. Although I'm not sure if the Rusty Venture question will be as funny if it's uncensored. -
