I don't think I've ever understood why the comics industry feels the need to have some sort of in-universe explanation every time they decide to hit the reset button on their universes. They should just tie up the major loose ends and start over. It's much simpler that way.

They finally got his Lucky Charms. Now he's back. And he's pissed.

Quote:I know. Like I said above, it was a disappointing way of tying up those loose ends. There is a comic - I have it but sadly forgot its title - that details the confrontation with these blue-handed guys. It is certainly no replacement for getting several episodes of content for sure, but it does serve as a bridge between the series and the movie.

Quote:I agree. I was really hoping for some sort of epic confrontation between the crew and the Hands of Blue men in the movie. The Operative was cool and all, but he wasn't anywhere near as scary or threatening as the Hands of Blue. And then I read the comic, which dealt with what happened to them. Let's just say, major major disappointment. My biggest issue with the movie is it shortened some things far too much. We should have had years with all the characters, but then... the movie happens. Also, I was highly disappointed the "hands of blue" had little to do with the events of the movie, when they were one of the scarier elements in the series. I'd also quibble whether the government is only after River because she knows stuff about the Reavers. Maybe my imagination is too big, but I figured there were more and bigger conspiracies than just that in the Alliance.
And River, yeah the show made it out to be a much deeper conspiracy than we got in the movie. In the show there were implications that it wasn't just the government after her, but also the huge Blue Sun mega-corporation (River goes bat-**** when she sees the Blue Sun logo, and I think the DVD extras imply that Hands of Blue were the Blue Sun hit team). That corporate corruption thread is left dangling at the movie's end. -
Also some of the best outtakes ever.

Quote:Who needs a four pack when you can have Jewel Staite and a strawberry?River was saner than some women I've met in Real Life so I'd take whimsical in the brainpan over them anyday of the week . . . especially if she looked like Summer Glau, Jewel Staite, Morena Baccarin, or Christina Hendricks.
Oooh! I wonder if they come in a 4-pack? -
Quote:Maybe he'll get some pre-alive Flesh and strap himself into a harness? Or perhaps some sort of death clock!I cant think of a situation that would make the doctor expect a living creature to be created only to be sacrificed for himself.
Just saying i would guess the central idea of these two episodes is going to center around the idea of the real humans seeing the flesh as real people, and the flesh being upset that they were so easily killed off doing work for the humans. -

I was waiting for the last guy to leave so I could close my library.

Could be that the Doctor has himself re-copied at a later date, after he's had those experiences. Maybe he calls in a favor the Flesh owes him after whatever the Doctor does to resolve the situation.

Quote:The publishers would just find some other way to **** students and their parents with the price of textbooks.Yeah, that's one consideration.
There are some places I'd love ebooks (with the proper reader, full notation, etc.) - school, for one, would be *ideal* if textbooks (which could be updated) went to an electronic format. And if they're cheaper, it's better for the student, after all. -
The boat sank, Mr. Cameron. Get over it.

Must've been all those Slim Jims. I hope no one else was injured.

Quote:If you have a cheese monger in your area, I highly recommend checking them out some time. If they're good, they'll have cheeses in stock that will blow your mind. The three best cheeses I have ever tasted were all from a local cheese store. They weren't cheap, but damn were they worth the money.Necroposting...YAY!
I had an epiphany tonight...or an unreasonable facsimile at any rate...
I tried goat's milk cheese tonight. It was unbelievable. The furthest I've gone in the cheese department in the past was some block parmesan and asiago (tend to be a pre-shredded mozzarella and cheddar kinda guy) and the occasional harvati-type that comes with Hickory Farms-type stuff. But this stuff was just plain wow. Soft and creamy and it reminded me of a semi-sweet wine in terms of taste. It was a LOT sweeter than I thought it was going to be. I figured it would be more on the sour/tart side than anything else. Combine that cheese with deer salami and honey mustard and that was a good meal right there.
Also tried an Irish cheese. It was a hard-style and reminded me a lot of parmesan. Still good, distinctive tasting, but very much in the parm category. -

Newsies: the only movie I've ever walked out on. And I saw Stealth all the way through in the theater.

Quote:Sweet, that sounds pretty good. IMO the only potential problem is that anyone who watched the second season of Warehouse 13 will know how the story ends.H.G. Wells gets her own Warehouse 13 spinoff.

Woah, nice. I'll have to keep an eye out for the dub.
