  1. The Devs decided to farm all threads regarding farming.
  2. ...I'm sorry, I must be having a brain-dead day today, but what IS the actual idea?!
  3. Awesome idea, using the object description, Eva, thanks!
  4. One of my personal issues with playing CoX sometimes is how everything story-wise is so easily dismissible and everything revolves around getting to the next mob-spawn, beating it only to rinse-repeat until the mission is finished. Personally, and unless I'm dead tired, I'd prefer a mission that requires me to pay attention rather than just mindlessly fight through it.
  5. Think about something like:

"Listen $name, all I know is that we need someone to get into the Council base and hack their systems... I did hear though that they've got this new wizkid who actually knows what he's doing, so if you use these passwords I gave you on the wrong terminals, expect trouble!"

Then, I'd do something in the mission itself to clarify to the observant players that certain terminals are going to spawn the unwanted ambush while other terminals are safe to hack using the given passwords.
  6. Experiment with a Dual Blades / Radiation Emission Boss, surrounded by Mind Control / Dark Miasma Lieutenants and Electric Blasts / Energy Melee Minions... that ought to be fun
  7. Look, this is really simple... GuildWars relies on a simpler model (both business-wise, and server-wise) that is not comparable to what CoX offers you. So, in essence, Guild Wars is a simple game that happens to offer a very limited multiplayer experience unlike CoX.

That's the reason why when you buy a GuildWars box and a CoX box, their price is different, and the GW box costs much more than a CoX box, but for CoX you have to pay a subscription fee.

If you're really interested in these issues and topics, I suggest you do some research into understanding how online-mulitplayer infrastructures like XBOX LIVE and Playstation Network, as well as Steam and other services work, and also research some successful MMO's out there that offer varied payment systems. After doing the research, you can better formulate any ideas you have and communicate them to your fellow forumite.
  8. Even idealists are bound by economical systems. If you can show me how your Boss can get you to perform your job at your workplace without paying you money, maybe you can in turn show NCSoft how they can provide a free MMO and yet keep their employees performing their duties without being paid, maybe then CoX could become a free MMO!

No, to making it easier to make farms. Yes, to more usability to enhance creating interactive stories.

Quoted for Truth, Freedom and... the way things ought to be!
  10. ...not to mention, the Chance for +Threat IO is missing from the build!
  11. I've never played any melee based characters to any meaningful level, but Scrappers were meant to be the easiest entry-point into the game, so their numbers should not come as a surprise really.
  12. Your idea of ambushes was quite right, however, ambushes were "nerfed" IIRC so that they would not lend themselves to farming. However, if you make Bosses and their troops using power sets that have adverse negative effects and debuffs, think confuse, accuracy-debuff, endurance drainage and the likes... maybe people would follow the missions briefing more to the point. Thing is, some people would actually regard your mission as a challenge mission and simply go through it anyway...
  13. What if AE buildings in the starting locals were relocated to the danger-areas (red zones) within those locals? I'm just wondering, does anyone think it'd change anything for new players in a positive way?
  14. Did it, loved it, 5-stars in my book as it is a niche story which not only builds upon the awesome (imo, of course) work already done by the creators of the CD vids, but adds to it a flair of its own.
  15. Yay more Rikti! oh, and 1st after a red-name!

    Stygian Circle

I just like to throw in +Recharge in it to be able to just defeat a mob and Stygian off it, it amuses me so much!!!

    (P.S. I'm easily amused, most times )

Personally I always thought the in game cut scenes in the first Kalinda and Burke arcs were wonderful and would make a great addition to the MA.

Gods no. Imagine the cutscenes in the Mary Sue arcs....

Or the cutscenes some wanna-be Shakespears would try to put in...

I played coh a few times & been playing the past 2 weeks and just got my stone tanker to 50. But I have a big problem, I always die & I dont know what's wrong?
Someone told me a stone tanker was the best in the game but I don't think it's the best at all.

I'm not sure how to show what build I did show I took a screenshot.

Look, there's nothing wrong with that build, as long as you're simply looking to chase chickens, ChickenChaser my friend...

P.S.: Well played, and I don't even have any meaningful tankers.
  19. In one words, maybe... in two words, maybe not. Not that I would mind more arc-space, but I've learned to curb my enthusiasm for custom critters and use them sparingly. What I'd really love is more goals, more control over mission/arc-flow and more scripting options.

I PL'd a few toons to 50 for my 12 year old son & he wrecks stuff!

    [/ QUOTE ]
Ok, so who's posting now, you, or your 12 year old son?

    [ QUOTE ]
The game isn't rocket science yanno.

    [/ QUOTE ]
No, definitely not if you're playing a melee character...

EDIT :: I decided to share my two cents with this thread... the only way to solve the n00b problem is teach the newbies and help them to not become n00bies. Adopt an AE Baby today!

    It's a fantastic idea!

    [/ QUOTE ]
Actually, it's a horrible idea in my opinion simply because it would allow people to upload some really dumb, horrible and crappy pictures as "faces" for their custom critters. Now, it may sound like fun on paper, but NCSoft/Paragon Studios have a certain standard to uphold graphically speaking. Each costume we make for these custom critters of ours has to follow the standards already laid out by the graphic designers of the game... if we were allowed to upload whatever we wanted, it may possibly ruin the graphic standards put in place, and if the graphic designers had to actually examine each and every picture we'd upload, when would they have time to think up new graphics for us?!
