  1. I sometimes actually liked doing Scanner/Paper missions, especially in PuGs!

But if we're not arguing, is one of us disagreeing at all?!
  3. [ QUOTE ]
Alot of people dont know about the exploding Rikti Drones. They dont see them alot in the AE building.

    [/ QUOTE ]
It's actually also those Council Missile drones, I forget what they're called in-game...

EDIT :: Take a look at the patch change-list and tell me that the AE changes weren't the ones with the biggest impact on the largest/loudest section(s) of the playerbase?
  4. [ QUOTE ]
A non-tedious method of non-destructively replacing a few (not all) enhancements would be a nice QoL feature.

    [/ QUOTE ]
You mean that you don't want to have consequences to making "mistakes" and slotting the "wrong" enhancement? Wait, wouldn't that completely negate the whole idea of trial and error?!

I spent a 100 million INF on buying a certain IO-set and slotting it in a certain power just to realize that I cannot get that +5% recharge bonus I wanted because my build already contains 5 other IO-sets with the same +5% recharge bonus. That's 100 million INF (and I'm rounding down here, just so it'd be easy to understand) that I "lost".

And yet, since I have played games like Guild Wars and WoW with their restrictions on items, I can't really complain because CoX is much more forgiving.

I agree with you about how tedious respecs are, but even though this is a game after all, having absolutely no consequences to our "build-mistakes" will not better the game in the long run because people would stop caring about making mistakes and that will take whatever immersion you have in growing a character.

In short, yes to more streamlined respeccing concepts, no to having no consequences when we make "build-mistakes".

I once submitted a post that described at great length and detail a concept where a Villain team would attempt to create a Doomsday weapon, and a Heroic team would attempt to thwart their efforts. I had some great feedback from some players, but nothing, of course, came out of it other than being lost in a purge.

My newest idea, is simpler. Let us create AE-PvP story-arcs that can be played only by a team of Heroes and a team of Villains. Don't attempt to balance things for PvP, just let us write a story-arc that contains objectives for both teams and unfolds the story according to whichever team "wins". That's it really, that's all I want from PvP.. I never liked fighting people for no good reason...
  6. My suggestion, don't come back to CoX because of the PvP.

I'm sad to say that I enjoyed WoW Battleground and CoX Arena matches more than anything I've found in CoX PvP... go figure...

I cry with you ChickenChaser, but not because you suck at PvP now, but because PvP sucks in general unless there's an actual reason to engage in it. YMMV, of course.

    Does AE need XP?

If I stop, will you stop?
  8. ChickenChaser, listen... IIRC Dev Choice arcs and Hall of Fame arcs are "protected" from being voted down. This means, that as long as an Arc has the status of DC or HoF, its true star-ratings aren't shown!
  9. That's what Beta programs are for Mandu, repeat after me... BETA... BETA... B-E-T-A!!!

If we're required to pay for being able to BETA-TEST the game... wow, that's a very faulty business model!

I only care because as this thread has shown, the AE is a heavily exploitable system, the Devs aren't happy with that, so they make changes, the community suffers for it because of downtime and because non-farming exploit-free story-arcs are affected when certain critters/powers graphic effects and such are removed from AE, so just like this thread said, we're all affected negatively by everything that's happening.

If you were to tell me though that Farmers are simply attempting to locate the holes in the system and report them and that's their only goal when making exploit-filled missions, I'd probably be cheering too.
  10. [ QUOTE ]
You have violated the forums rules about mentioning an exploit. I'll make sure to bring this to a mod's attention.

    This is.... Priceless!

...adding +Recharge to Stygian Circle is more a matter of taste than a necessity.

I never said it was a necessity... did I?

    Does AE need XP?

    [ QUOTE ]
In your options you have the choice to shut off XP. So if you don't like XP in AE missions shut it off & stop crying!

    [/ QUOTE ]
Oiy ChickenChaser... don't you get it? When everyone can get their new character to Lv50 just as fast as everyone else can, level 50 doesn't mean anything anymore. If we're all super, no one truly is!
  13. Cute idea, really, ChickenChaser... but it ain't gonna fly. Thanks for playing though.

EDIT :: Don't get me wrong, I truly like this idea, it's just not going to happen.

Ha ha ha... I love these "HR preferred lists", guess who they're going to hire...

    Think about something like:
    *
"Listen $name, all I know is that we need someone to get into the Council base and hack their systems... I did hear though that they've got this new wizkid who actually knows what he's doing, so if you use these passwords I gave you on the wrong terminals, expect trouble!"
    *
Then, I'd do something in the mission itself to clarify to the observant players that certain terminals are going to spawn the unwanted ambush while other terminals are safe to hack using the given passwords.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Oh I'm so "borrowing that idea"....

    [/ QUOTE ]
Be my guest, and drop me a line when the arc's published, I want to see how you implemented it and then steal that implementation and improve upon it!
  16. If it were me, I'd rollback AE entirely until I could make sure it didn't have any exploits available, but I've never been strictly business-oriented.
  17. Guys... if anyone needs a quick reminder, unless you're on the NCSoft/Paragon Studios payroll lists, any statement you make about how certain game development direction has influenced the game is strictly confined to your personal experience and as such, cannot be taken as a true statement about the state of the game regarding the quantity and quality of the playerbase.

If on the other hand, you are on the NCSoft/Paragon Studios payroll lists, please attach some real numbers and facts to your statements.

    OK, thanks... bye!
  18. Ahhhhhhhhhhh ChickenChaser, you're such a kidder!

    Everything "affects" others.

However, what they're doing is finding holes that needed to be (and would be) closed in AE anyhow.
    *
So how does this NEGATIVELY affect you?

    [/ QUOTE ]

It negatively affects me because I can not play.

    AE Suggestions.

    [ QUOTE ]
    1. Limit AE to non trial accounts.

    [/ QUOTE ]
IIRC, trial accounts can't level past Lv14... right guys?

    [ QUOTE ]
    2. Move AE to a restricted zone. at least 25+.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Nope, not going to happen. Best offer is to move AE buildings into red-zones in the locals they're already in so that a new player has to either spend a few levels in the normal low-level content and level up the normal way to get past the higher-level mobs, or brave the zone before getting to the AE building, or simply get someone to teleport them there which may serve to expose the newbie to the notion of travel powers and teamplay... that's really the best idea I can offer about AE building placements.

    [ QUOTE ]
AE has come to replace the entire game, and way too many people have no idea how to play their AT.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Gross overstatement of a personally skewed point of view, I'd say. Not that I haven't seen some Lv50 characters that are terribly built or played badly, but inferring from that what you said... that's a bit far fetched for me.

    [ QUOTE ]
Lets put some skill and dedication back into the game.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Sure, and we can do that by being hospitable to the newbies and ensure they become vets instead of n00bies.

    [ QUOTE ]
Sitting at an AE mission exit till you are 50 somehow makes this game destined for failure.

    [/ QUOTE ]
At worst, I see that sitting at an AE mission door till you're Lv50 possibly destines that player and their character to failure when trying the game's normal content, but then again, Peregrine Island was always open for Lv1 characters to come and door-sit in Lv50+ demon-farms. This is an age-old problem we've faced one way or another and I personally hope we'll face for years to come.

    [ QUOTE ]
Otherwise, give everyone WS,PB Widow and Soldier. It takes ~ 10 hrs or less to go from 1 - 50 now, this is just ridiculous.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Actually, I'm starting to think it's a good thing that many newbies can get a Kheldian quickly because when they do try to impress others and themselves by trying the normal game content, or even AE missions, they either learn to play their character, repeatedly die trying, or quit. Either way is fine with me, because essentially, having a Lv50 Kheldian means something in this game, and any Lv50 Kheldian that cannot handle the game's content is exposed rather quickly.

    [ QUOTE ]
I for one want my old game back.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Sorry, can't have it since the whole notion of MMOs' is that game experience may change during online play.
  21. (QR)

I've done sort of the reverse thing (although with the current state of affairs in AE missions, I think my narrative was ruined by improper placement controls, but I digress) and in the end-mission of my story-arc, I've "hidden" an ally that will help you defeat the main baddie if you read the dialog and try to figure out how to obtain the ally and where it's spawned.

Not that the story-arc required that ally to begin with, but some feedback from people who couldn't solo the arc convinced me to add the ally, and she does add a bit of hilarity to the last mission.
  22. [ QUOTE ]
In the absence of any new content, some players became addicted to farming - regardless of supply and demand. The prices we're seeing now aren't reasonable - or even rationale.
    *
They're hysterical - and they're driven by addiction.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Bravo!!! /clap you've figured out what MMO's are all about!!!!!
  23. It's not shocking to me. I was just amused by the "Rage" comment.

About the +Recharge thing, surprising or not, that's also what my PB's after
