A quick request while I'm here: While what I've seen in this thread is of concern, and worthy of investigation, I do not feel that everyone jumping in making negative comments about support is at all helpful.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Strange that, most companies would welcome a bit of criticism when they fail a customer to this degree.

I think negative comments where they are deserved are what you should be looking for, saves you being under the impression that EU customer service is not dire.

This should have been sorted out for him 2 days after it started, christmas or no christmas. In fact had it been resolved in anywhere near a reasonable time period, christmas would not have been a feature of this problem.

  2. I think the positioning of the servers needs a look at this time round too.

1st forray into the game in a week last night, abandoned due to lag, 6 people, 3 different countries all lagged/mapservered to death again.

If it was a new game not an expansion, hearing the servers were in the same place as these would be enough for me not to bother.

Plus, I can't think of anyone playing this game who WOULDN'T buy an expansion pack...

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well I know I would, but if for the sake of argument they went down the route of every other MMO expansion and increased the level cap by 10 levels, can you see everyone being happy about that?

    [/ QUOTE ]

They dont need to increase the level cap, just give 50s something to do.

Or bring in that extra power slots idea they had for 50s, i liked the sound of that.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The only people i can think of that might not are new people that havent already done the existing game to death, but later on that would just be a natural progression for them to buy it too.

This company have stood them self in good stead for a paid for pack, in my opinion, with all the free updates, finally asking for people to cough up a few quid aint a lot to ask.

As long as it's bug free and does actually contain some content of course.

Tho i still don't quite understand why MMOs need a sequel to my mind it seems a bit like a throw back to stand alone games.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I agree with you there, MMO's don't need sequels as they just evolve "naturally". Which is why, IMO, Massively are wrong. There isn't going to be a sequel as such, there's going to be a paid for expansion pack with shedloads of new features.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I really hope you are right for 2 reasons, 1 i just couldnt face starting another game from scratch, and 2 this game really needs a big boost.
  6. The thing is just too big to light up nicely, it's all or nothing, the small lights dont make an impact on the gloom and putting the room lights up dont accentuate it.
  7. Yes you will have a lot of fun doing this and level at an insane speed.

Important thing is to stick to the planned powers (although i couldnt help myself and sneaked off to get stamina) our 1-50 run of this was one of the most fun things iv ever done in this game, good luck guys
  8. The sub base (main player base) just aint interested in PvP, your FNFC were great or the one i attended was, but out of all those people how many have embraced this new version of pvp?

It just gauls me that in a game this old with such glaring gaps in things as no villain sf from 40-45, they decided to waste this much time effort and money on something that was obviously not going to be popular from the beta.

They ignored what was asked for then, pushed this through and now its failed.
Sadly this lot wont ever admit that, and will no doubt continue to waste more money messing about with it, which is a shame.

PvP just aint going to ever be popular in this game, and i say that as someone who loved a bit of pvp, i wasnt any good at it, but i loved it.

Have you actually been into a pvp zone since i13, because they are empty, EMPTY as in no one there, at least before there was a few regulars, where are all these new people enjoying pvp you keep on about?

    [/ QUOTE ]

The fire something or other that roasted me in Sirens at some random time of day last week suggests you're wrong. Various other posts on this thread suggest you're wrong.

Logically, if the Zones are empty, then you aren't in them, so you wouldn't know if anyone else was and so can't give an informed opinion.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ok i concede if i aint there i cant see who is
  10. [ QUOTE ]
I would be really interested to see what ATs the PVPers who dont like the changes are.

It seems to me that people playing the squishier ATs like the changes as they live a little longer, but the tougher ATs dont as they can no longer one shot things.

    [/ QUOTE ]

  11. Its an absolute [censored] take the way you have been treated.
  12. [ QUOTE ]
He is not. I've been told by plenty that they enjoy the new PvP system. And even some who dislike PvP are thinking of giving it a go.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Giving it a go for 5 minutes and doing it regularly are different things.

    [ QUOTE ]
But it seems to be drawing in new and old PvPers, and that can only be a good thing.

PvP is now more dead than it's ever been.

    [ QUOTE ]
Yes it is annoying. But being able to team up with anyone in the game is one of the big selling points of this game in my book.

When I want to party with a friend I know I can party with him no matter our level differences. For those power levelers there is an easy solution.

    IGNORE them.

    [/ QUOTE ]
The thing is I would rather not have to ignore them, I'd rather not have them in the game at all and that also includes the farmers

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ah well you got a problem there then.

Back on topic, no to that idea.
  14. [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
So you are basically saying "screw these guys, we don't need thier money" then?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm saying that I don't see any way in which CoH can both target hardcore PvP-ers and its current subscription base. For all practical concerns, yes, I do believe this means it would be a folly for NCSoft to listen overmuch to that segment.

(And, just for balance, it would be equally foolish of them to adjust the game trying to please the hardcore roleplayers.)

    [/ QUOTE ]

All they had to do was leave pvp alone or listen to the changes that were asked for to satisfy the pvp comunity they did have.

And they had 5 years to realise their vision of pvp for all was going to be a failure, because 95% 0f this games players dont pvp because they dont want to pvp.

And that would have satisfied the PvE people because they wouldnt have had to see god knows how much time wasted on this epic fail.

As Praff said the resources poured into this farce could have been spent on a much needed villain SF for example.

And im saying this as someone who used to like a bit of PvP most nights.

And that aint as antagonistic as the attitude you moan about i suppose.

I have been in a team that couldn't complete it. No bugs no nothing. Just opponents in last mission was to strong. We didn't even come to the point where we were trying to kill statesman. We were wiped out and wiped and wiped and wiped by the full freedom force who always managed not to be able to be caught alone.

Until that moment everything was a cakewalk. Then suddenly unable to finish no way what we tried.

Ok now you pay attention, i was only trying to help, try harder. 8 shivans alone can pretty much kill statesman, i dont know what went wrong with that run.

Try it again, maybe he was bugged then.

Thinking about it, if you were at him for an hour, i take it you had no shivans left? In which case you should have gone and got more. Also was he killing you or was it a case of you just couldnt kill him?

If he was killing you were you all filling up with lucks between deaths? Because you want 4 of those running at all times.

I just cant understand how 8 of you, in fact 8 of anything with 8 shivans couldnt kill him.

    [/ QUOTE ]

We spammed shivans, nukes, holds, reds, lucks, oranges, everything we had. He didn't fall. Bugged? Probably. 'Go get more'? Not very good advice given all we've said. Annoyed? Well, yes. Frustrating beyond measure actually. We'll try again, no worries there. We can't understand it either, hence this rant thread.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I suggested going and getting more because for 45 minutes of your hour battle you didnt have any, and without something decent debuffing him you wont kill him.

    Anyway good luck with it.

I dont know what you were doing wrong, but for future reference do this.

1 member die in mob of longbow on left of chopper.

Move up to mob of longbow at bottom of steps and kill it, cut scene starts.

Move to top of steps, tp the corpse from last mob to you.

Everyone draw a shivan, cast vengence on corpse and shivans, rez corpse.

Eat 4 lucks, 1 orange each.

Numina is the 1st target coz she can rez, next do Sister then Posi, then whoever you like that looks low on health, we normally do States last.

All stay in melee range or in range of the healer if you have healers.

For that to work, you need 1 person with TP or the vet power and someone with vengence.

[/ QUOTE ]Yeah we did all that. Pay attention to what I'm saying, the rest of the heroes died just fine. Statesman just wouldn't get any lower than 10% HP even though we kept pounding on him for like an hour.

The other heroes are fine. Statesman having a zero-recharge damage nullifier power is what got us. How much more -res do you need than Tar Patch and a Sonic/Sonic? That should've already put us around 2/3 of the -res cap (not to mention the freaking chem nuke), though I'm not in the mood to run numbers through my head at the moment.

The whole problem is just Statesman, and Statesman alone.

Its up to you how hard or easy you make it, with 5 corrs and that method the whole SF takes us 50-80 mins from start to finnish.

If you want to use less corrs its going to take several runs at them and more time, its up to you, be realistic, stop moaning about needing certain AT's if you want the badge, use whats needed to do the job. Go get some chemical and bio nukes if you want it even easier.

Edit, the only insps any of you want in your trays are 16 lucks, 4 oranges, maybe a couple of break frees if your a corr, forget eating reds or anything else.

Iv done it at least 300 times with every single possible team from bad to best, its just a lot easier with 5 corrs, and the OP seems to be finding it hard, thats why i suggested 5 corrs.

You dont NEED anything really, it will just be harder/take longer with some teams.

I'm just [censored] off by now. It's been around six months since I first attempted the Lord Recluse Strike Force. Six months. This was -after- I had discovered my fondness for Badge collecting. And in six months' time, still not a successful run.

And it's not because the teams suck, either. Not in the general sense, at least. I've never been on any of the fabled 'dream teams' for the LRSF, with a Granite Brute and Mind/Ice Dominator and who knows what else. They probably wouldn't take an Elec/Elec Brute anyway since you apparently need some god knows how specifically planned out team to defeat [censored] Statesman. Arrrrrrrrgh.

8 people, a Sonic/Sonic Corruptor, and a MM with Tar Patch, stacking ridiculous amounts of -res on top of a Chem Nuke, with 8 Shivans out... And Statesman just won't freaking drop. His HP just merrily shoots up when his zero-recharge Unstoppable is active. I don't even see orange numbers when he uses it, I don't see anything but grey 1s from whoever is actually able to damage him for the grand total of 1 damage per hit. What the hell. He regens back up to 75% despite the huge amount of -res on him, everyone has 4-8 or more red insps stacked on, and when it wears off and he drops to 10% again, BAM, Un-freaking-stoppable.

How the hell is this meant to be done without 8 of each freaking warburg nuke anyway? How do people actually manage to complete Master Of runs of this when he freaking Hand Claps the non-melee ATs to death if they happen stray too close to whatever the AoE size is? I can't wrap my brain around this.

I'm just going to make the logical assumption that my badging toon is cursed, and those are two (lol, three) badges I'll never ever have. Because six months of trying is just retarded. I realize it's the hardest task force in the game. But it doesn't even seem -mathematically- possible without 8x3 nukes, so how do people get Master Of badges for it? I don't know. I guess I never will know. The devs say the game is balanced around SOs. I'm on generic IOs, so I'm already stronger than SOs despite not having set bonuses.

Funnies thing? I actually completed the LRSF once. On the wrong toon. I just wanted the Apocalyptic badge for the accolade. I stuck around just for morbid mental laughs, and... We killed them all. How the hell we did that, I'll never know. Statesman managed to die somehow. I was on my Thugs/Dark Mastermind, who is not my badge toon. We had a Thugs/Dark in today's team as well, and States refused to drop. So it can't have been -my- toon that tipped the scales.

So what the hell am I missing?

    *goes to sleep it off*

All you need is a decent team.

I think the days of huge EU population explosions are over to be honest.

    [/ QUOTE ]

*shrugs* Possibly, but from the work NCSoft has done on the game in the last nine months or so, it would seem they're not ready to throw in the towel just yet. (It doesn't make sense to, among other things, do so much work on quality of life and UI changes if they're not trying to get new people in.) Assuming NCSoft will be trying to increase subscriptions -- or at the very least want to keep that strategy open as a possibility -- it doesn't make any sense for them, at all, to consolidate any servers at this time.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Excellent, i hope all that works out for them, i really do.

My opinion that 1 EU server is better than what we have now is still the same though.

    [ QUOTE ]
It wont, it would probably do the opposite, what it would do though is consolidate the players that are in the EU, and produce 1 well populated server.

    [/ QUOTE ]

At the cost of an expensive transfer job, a large brouhaha amongst the players, the apperance of a game in decline and making it a lot harder to expand the European playerbase beyond what will comfortably fit on a single server anytime in the future.

    The costs exceeds the benefits.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I think the days of huge EU population explosions are over to be honest. Maybe hanging on to whats here wouldnt be a bad idea.

As for the huge supposed exodus over names, well, thats all been been said before for various reason, ED for example.

What people say and what they do when push comes to shove are 2 different things.

Also the name issue could be sorted out amicably with a bit of thought.
