After playing an Elec melee / Shield Brute, i'm not so sure super strngth is the best aoe damage. Lightning Rod and Shield Charge are both awesome on their own, and together it's just crazy.

Elec Melee / WP! Im lovin it!! Cant wait till the later lvls!

Cant have you enjoying your char, nerf it! -

Supported this when it's been raised on the suggestions board. Keep the 5 difficulties that exist now (nice and easy for beginners to grasp) and add a highly customisable difficulty setting.
And 'so what?' if it makes it easier for farmers (as that's a common objection). Farmers will always find a way to farm - and if that's what they want to do and it doesn't directly affect anyone else then why the heck should they be used as an excuse to not improve the game for many others?
[/ QUOTE ]
Whoops. I wasn't aware this was a common suggestion. I'd support doing the way you describe :O)

Psi AVs can almost 2 shot Granite brutes, cause they got no psi defense at all.

As long as it doesn't have an effect on PvP, then I don't see any problem with have some sets stronger/weaker than others.
[/ QUOTE ]
Not to you directly, but it does overall effect the game: e.g:
1. New player "accidentally" picks up a "gimp" set. Level sit up, sees how bad he is. Gives up and leaves game. Resources lost.
2. Specific Trials stanrt to favour / select only specific sets / builds / ATs. These become operationalised, less variety. Playes with underpowered sets get excluded, fed up, leave game, resources lost.
3. People will naturally gravitate towards more powerful sets (dont even try to deny it). Less variery, diminshed variation in team play and (for some) playable sets. Reduces longevity of game for some. Resources lost.
4. Lack of balance in itself causes biterness and loss of faith in game. Bad karma in community and despair at lack of action causes players to leave. Resources lost.
WHilst you may not care, it affects the game. You coud I suppose construct an argument that having unbalanced sets is a good thing for the game, but thats not the veiw I take, or indeed an MMORPG I am aware of.
[/ QUOTE ]
What a load of [censored], thats the most rubbish argument to support nerfs iv ever seen.
Every one of those arguments is just pure jank.
People dont up and leave over a bad char they make another.
If what you were saying had a grain of truth in it, this game would have a population of 0 by now.
If you want nerfs think of real reasons.
At this stage of this games life nerfs big or small are going to lose more subs than any of those reasons you just trumped up. -
Add an extra level of difficulty, dont keep [censored] up peoples chars.

And i often see that others brutes cant contribute half as much to the team a SS or even SS/WP can.
[/ QUOTE ]
Even if that was true, why would it bother you?
[/ QUOTE ]
Hm read post above ?
Cause I want to feel needed in a team and contribute something to it, and if i play my other brutes in a team with a SS/WP brute might aswell doorsit......
[/ QUOTE ]
Oh well i can only conclude that this is a problem that you have, not a problem with the powers. -

I could understand it if you were talking about pvp, but i cant for the life of me understand why you would give a toss how a powerset plays in pve, as long as you had equal access to those powersets.

When did they release those results?

Look in brute section here :-)

Do you mean the player made comparison with stone? I cant see an official datamine in the brute section. -

Give up asking for nerfs. /unsigned especially when what your saying is wrong.
[/ QUOTE ]
I am not wrong and you know it.....
Guess your just another one fearing your favorite sets are getting nerfed.
[/ QUOTE ]
Why would i be fearing that? Because you asked for a nerf?
Actually im past caring what they nerf now, they ruined my favorite brute with the energy nerf .
I have practically every popular combo of brute, and i just think what your saying is wrong.
SS/WP is just an easy combo to play, if you know what your doing there are lots of good combo's.
Some just need a bit more attention when you play them. -
[ QUOTE ]
I loved to play CoX for a long time now and i always loved the diversity of powers, but lately its starting to get dull.
95% of all brutes are SS/WP.
There is really no reason to roll other combos apart from SS/WP, since SS is the best st AND aoe damg primary and WP is by far the best seconadry.
ALL other primaries and secondaries suck compared to those 2.
I am no fan of nerfs but SS needed a nerf a long time ago, like reduced radius of FS and non stackable rage.
Nothing comes close to WP in survivability.
Granite tanks/brutes have to deal with - rech, - dmg and almost no run speed to compensate the lvl of survivability.
WP has even better survivability with NO downsides at all.
I know ppl dont like nerfs but its a question of balance and reason.
IMO those 2 sets need to be toned down in order to not make others set meaningless.
P.S: I got a SS/Wp too :-)

Using the Creative section to post links to personal attacks on people you don't like is not really what the Creative section is for.

Which is why, in the video, I edited out certain names. However, although I owe it to anyone watching to be entertaining, I owe it to myself to not smile, nod, and lie through my teeth by pretending everyone loves each other and that this is a jolly, happy place. Believe me, if I wanted to cause drama and flames, the video wouldn't have been under five minutes long, it would have been over 10.
You think that I was too harsh in my comments? They're the nicest bits of what I recorded. I took a lot of it out because, as I just stated in a PM to someone who saw the video, read my comments, and saw it for what it was (a bit of entertaining video), whilst I bleeped and edited out certain names that was purely because I don't want to get banned, and, besides, it isn't my place to enforce my own beliefs about people onto others. I have no intention of rocking the boat.
However, if I can make just one person stop and think about the community, their own places in it, and think about what they may say and how it affects others, then I consider it a bonus for someone like me, who merely seeks to entertain. If you don't like that, there's no reason for you to continue watching.
[/ QUOTE ]
It doesn't matter if it's trying to entertain or not - if you made a post using the text you said on the video, there's no way it wouldn't be removed - posting a link to a video of you attacking other forum posters is the same as making a post attacking other forum posters.
If you made a video where you had to blank out the names of the people you were talking about in it to avoid being banned, then that should surely tell you that it was an unsuitable thing to post in the first place.
Not only that, but you also come across very badly in it, whcih I'm sure wasn't your intent - and it does tend to confrim the view people had of that whole silly "forumite" thing - which was a while ago now, and it'd be much better to leave it alone, and not try bringing it up again.
[/ QUOTE ]
You forgot the smiley. -
[ QUOTE ]
What I don't get was the view that the Forumites had so called "special" privileges with Bridger, everybody had the same treatment off Bridger, unless you broke the rules, and even then you had to break them into tiny little pieces too small for the eye to see to get anything other than a warning.

4 level 50s and 4 under 50s is about the minimum you want for a decent result.
3 level 50s was the minimum we once did it with, completed it, but it was bordering on hard work. -

It seems fairly clear to me that CoH EU is no longer pulling in enough money to justify 2 full time forum mods, so they've re-tasked one of them to a more profitable game to justify his wages; which is good for Palladium, as it means his job doesn't vanish, but it's not exactly a good sign for us, is it?
[/ QUOTE ]
It's far more accurate to say that Palladium is the most knowledgable person over here when it comes to L2, and when the position came available he snapped it up. It's a fantastic opportunity for him and it really shouldn't be read as an abandonment of the FR community at all.
The new year is looking very good for CoH. We've seen an upswing in server populations, and the Mac launch has gone very smoothly.
[/ QUOTE ]
So does that mean that the French players are going to be getting a replacement mod? Will the Germans eventually get Kerensky replaced after that stupid 6 month regulation is up?
[/ QUOTE ]
That 6 month regulation is laughably easy to get round, if they wanted to have a mod for the Germans, they would have a mod for the Germans. -
[ QUOTE ]
Well, he's on the money about something brewing, but a completely separate and different MMO ain't it. The main thing about CoH that keeps it running is the high amount of subscriber retention. People play CoH a lot longer than any other MMO before moving on, and the subscriber base has floated between 100,000 and 150,000 since launch.
If NCNC offered up a brand new MMO and told you that was the future, then they would be forcing people to give up their existing CoH characters. If you do that, you may as well look at every MMO coming out equally, and if CO or DCO happens to be better, you go there. On the other hand, if this big update accommodates CoH veterans, either by revamping what's already there or transferring characters to the new game somehow, NC get to leverage the biggest strength of CoH - the community. Keep that intact and you start off with a really large boot in the door. Force the community to start over and you make the competition look like a valid choice.
A similar situation occurred in the world of PC hardware, almost three years ago now. AMD was in a position of dominance, and in its hubris, released a new socket that needed a new CPU and RAM, making all old systems obsolete. At the same time, Intel pushed out the AwesomeMcPants Core 2 Duo, which everyone still wants to own to this day. If AMD supported their old platform a bit more, they could have held on to more users, but instead they presented them with the need to completely switch platforms. And if you were going to switch, you wanted the best value, which was the Core 2. This... ritual suicide committed by AMD is a bleeding wound that they still haven't recovered from.
The lesson to learn is this: if a competitor comes swinging at you, don't alienate your fans. While that may be a REALLY horrible way to put the moral, you see my point. The community is the strongest thing about the game, I'd say more than any other MMO even, and NC need to keep it.
... Of course, there's always the deep, dark fear I've nurtured ever since the mission architect was announced. With the ability to create your own content, and with possible attractive PvP features and minigames coming, it's possible that NCNC wish to make CoH a self-sustaining MMO, with the users providing all the new content. They can then focus on CoX 2. Of course, such thoughts really do fill me with dread.

If they DID make a CoH2 instead of just an expansion, I think they should set it in a REAL city, rather than in Paragon. I'd LOVE to fly around a modeled version of NYC or LA for example, and it'd make the world seem more real too.
[/ QUOTE ]
Having just played GTA 4 on the pc and seen what a really good city can look like, i'd love to see that. -
[ QUOTE ]
More people fall over kirbs because hurdles are easier to see.
I think CoH2 could do really excellent PvP though, and with CO apparently dropping the ball in that department, I think it would be worth making the effort to do it right, which wouldn't be hard to do if you built the PvP system first then used that as your basis for pvE.
[/ QUOTE ]
Or they could just not bother wasting all that money in the hope of getting an extra 2% subscribers , and do what they are good at. -
[ QUOTE ]
The argument against that is that it wouldn't enable PvP to be fixed, as that requires a complete rewrite of all the powers and ATs (and we all know how popular that is in a live game, don't we - NGO, ED etc).
[/ QUOTE ]
You would think that even for the very slow to learn, the penny must have dropped about PvP.
Surely they must have got the idea that people in the most part dont play this game to PvP by now, especially after this last fiasco.
I cant see PvP being a hurdle for an expansion.
