TBH I'm surprised at the complete lack of info from NCSoft to their paying customers, whether via red name, News update or whatever.

Presumably the high-ups had drawn up full plans before local staff were notified, and had already decided whether EU forums and servers were to be ultimately preserved/migrated/closed down. Once the cat was out of the bag and it it was clear big changes were happening, why not let people know what they were?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Because this company has always sucked at keeping people informed.

Everything is and always has been a big secret, from the trivial to important things like this, its like blood out of a stone. Always a "soon" , another carrot dangled or just silence.

GR's job no longer exists in Brighton.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    NO!!!

It is like my...child has been taken away from me! A precious, precious child that I held on so dearly! IT WAS GR!

OK...overreacting there...but this is really sad. I hate to see GR go...the Germans lost their big daddy...the French did too...and now us...it looks like a sad day for CoX EU.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's one of the creepiest things I think I've ever read.

Not only did GR lose his job but he's got virtual stalkers who refer to him as "Big Daddy"

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well he is the big daddy - when we break the rules, he punishes us, like a parent And we are all the little children just growing up under his care...and he is gone now...that means we are orphans

Aion's doing well by all accounts but don't be hard on GR. He only got the news today himself and it's his job that's gone belly up. Give the bloke a break

    [/ QUOTE ]
Aion is doing good in korea, europe/US is a far far different story.

Anyway, is it 100% sure GR is a goner too? o.0

    [/ QUOTE ]

GhostRaptor would only be out of work if the forums were closed.

    [/ QUOTE ]

As far as I understand it the Forums aren't all of his job, or even the major part

    [/ QUOTE ]

But it's also highly unlikely they'd have an un-modded offical forum.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Why?, thats what the Germans and French have now.

Anyway the forum modding bit of his job, if hes lost it, will just go to someone who has still got a job.

Forum modding aint exactly rocket science is it, anyone could do it.

Well if sunset does happen with the EU servers I think it would be more likely that this would happen.

All active EU accounts made before [ enter date here ]

    Will receive;

Lineage II client and 2 months playtime free!

Aion Early access code and client free!

City of combined edition client ( US ) and 2 months playtime free!

When they closed the Korean servers, they just gave them all US accounts; no character transfers at all.

    [/ QUOTE ]

S*d that, I would expect everything related to my Character suite Red-side/Blue-side and SG ported over or replicated.

Major pouting and reconsiderations if not.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Which is why I think something like my prediction is more likely.

It'll cost them a bit of money to do such a marger BUT, they'll lose less people that if they just cut us all off and made us start fresh. I know that I for one probably would accept a transfer (depending on names), but if I LOST my chars and vet rewards etc, I'd just go.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yep that would be me finally bowing out too if i had to start from scratch.

Here's what I think may happen in the coming months.

With only a couple of staff left at NC Brighton, this is clearly an unsustainable number to maintain EU servers for CoH. Therefore, a database move is highly likely.

We will not be given a choice of where we go, they will just transfer us wholesale to a couple of the emptier US servers. The 4 EU servers will go completely.

We MIGHT then be granted free server transfer tokens, so that we can move our chars to servers of ours choice within the US, but this is by no means a given.

Localised language support will be discontinued.

No consideration will be given to duplicate character names or global names. We will just be given rename tokens as a cure all.

    [/ QUOTE ]
For better or worse, that sounds feasible.

If they do move everyone on a particular EU server to the same server on the US, I hope the SG bases and membership go with them - can see it leading to a lot more account closures if they don't.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Thats what i hope too.

Also on an i told you so note, it seems the EU havent been quite as thriving as some have argued.
  12. [ QUOTE ]
You will maybe, but I wont and I'm willing to bet that a lot other European players won't either.

I think more will benefit than wont.

On the bright side, if this is true we are a step nearer a server merge with any luck.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I still think a server merge is unlikely. However, a server TRANSFER; that's likely after all this. They really cannot run 4 EU servers with just a couple of people left in the office. People who, lets be honest here, are likely only going to have short term jobs as they wind the office down.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Its all good, if we get hosted in the US we will have less lag.
  15. On the bright side, if this is true we are a step nearer a server merge with any luck.

Yeah you can. If trial or tf don't require certain number of people for a certain task, like Caverns trial where you must click all 8 stones at the same time.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Okay edited for more accuracy and also wanted to add, others you invited for starting TFs will be bound to that TF untill you finish it so it will be better to warn people before how much time/day your TF will take.

    [/ QUOTE ]

What's to stop them just quitting the TF?
  17. [ QUOTE ]
So if i understand this correctly - so long as i start any trial / taskforce with the correct number of people - then the extra can quit /drop out and we can still complete it?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yes but read a few guides because as Knightly said some do require the full quota of people to complete.
  18. [ QUOTE ]
    Hi all

I may have hold of completely the wrong end of the stick here, but let me explain anyway.

My question is this - why aren't trials and taskforces scalable?

We have a family SG and i regularly team with wife/daughter etc, however there are only ever a maximum of 3 of us on at any one time. We would love to do all of the trials and taskforces in the game, but most if not all (with 1 exception i think) are only for groups larger than 3 people. So why aren't they scalable, smaller mobs - lower level bosses etc.

As i say - this may already be possible (how?) but if not - why not. It seems like there is a large part of the game that just isnt available to the smaller groups or soloers.

oh - and before you say - well just invite more people to the mission - well - we cant guarantee time towards doing it as we dont play every evening - and sometimes only for 30 minutes at a go - and it would be unfair to have a third party waiting around for days on end just to finish the trial / taskforce.

    Your thoughts please

    [/ QUOTE ]

I would say try to arrange for a time when you can all be on and arrange it with a few reasonable people that will understand if 1 or more of you cant make it.

Or do them with teams one at a time, i know thats not perfect as you obviously want to do them together, but i suppose its better than not doing them at all.

A lot of them you could do 3 handed just by using fillers to start as well.

None of those ideas is perfect but its about all there is aint it.

Are ye going to keep referring it to Spring Fling?

It sounds like some bizarre local village Slinky Throwing competition (along the lines of bog swimming, cheese rolling etc, etc)

I like the idea of something new for the valentines event. The current one is a bit awkward with the cross faction requirements and it hasn't changed since Pocket D was first introduced.

So far this is the best suggestion for it. I'm curious to know if the '/unsigned' have something better to offer as a valentines event?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yea nothing at all, dont waste resources on something that lasts 2 weeks.
  22. Bad idea, if they are going to make a new villain group make a decent one for all round use, not just for an event.

    Elitism

    [ QUOTE ]
IM scratching my head over that one too.

How is "the best peice of ADVICE I got was to GET STAMINA"

In anyway elitist? It specfically states it was ADVICE!

And probably the most important peice of build advice any of us could get as a new player.

    Elitist?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I suppose it depends on how he took getting the advice, or how he was given it.

Someone telling me get stamina was a defining moment in this game for me, but it was a great guy who told me.

Had i had a [censored] in a team i didnt know order me to get stamina, it might not have been recieved so well.

I wonder when i14 will come out. Apparently i15 is due late in April (on the 5th anniversary) so that leaves very little time to knock out i14.

Well, if he gave you a detailed schedule of planned content for the 3 Issues this year, surely you'd be just a little bit interested?

I'd be happy with anything other than the usual veiled "there's big things to come", that has become real stale over the last couple of years.
