Defiance is surprisingly very useful in pvp during longish fights against foes that whittle your health down slowly, which is kinda why they get angry at us when we blast them ta' hell after all that work they put in. The only thing they need to do is make it kick in earlier to make it actually useful in pve and then we will be complete
--The day of the blaster draws ever closer--

    [/ QUOTE ]

    True.

In fact, most PvP'ers love Defiance for PvP. Hell, on the rare occasions when I PvP I love it too... sometimes.

Too bad this isn't a PvP game.

This is a PvE game with emphasis on Teaming. If you choose to spend most of your time in PvP then that's up to you, but that's not what the game is about and you're choosing to spend your time in the CoF equivalent of the Chocobo races from Final Fantasy, or that stupid card game from KotOR. PvP is a mini-game in CoF, so the fact that the only time our inherent is actually useful is outside the pervue of the game proper kinda says something.

As a pre-emptive response to the afore mentioned people who think defiance is bugged as a power on the whole: There is a difference between an actual bug, and the effect of the power. Put aside your own selfish motivations for one moment and realize that there is an actual bug (alleged bug) that people are trying to get fixed.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm sorry we're not posting according to what you would like to see. Perhaps we should PM you with every post before we publish it to make sure it fits with your prescribed notion of what is and isn't appropriate.

    Fact is that we're absolutely on target and on topic, despite your claims and here's why;

The power, itself... sucks. What difference does it make if it has a very slight time delay bug when the thing that 90% of blasters is really looking for is to have it removed because they find it unacceptable?

    Remove head from buttocks.

I know since ED 6 slotting stamina doesn't happen much anymore, and I know it's not recommended, but how much end/second extra COULD you get if you 6 slotted it with SOs?

    [/ QUOTE ]

The same as if you 4 slotted it.

At three slots you reap 95%, with 4 you'll reap 100%. With 5 and 6 you will still only reap 100%

Because I am a firm believer in the need for multiple playthroughs to see/achieve everything. I don't agree with being able to earn all the badges/fully experience every mission on a single playthrough. And fixing it so you can't earn badges through missions that are not your own is a good way to fix that.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, I disagree in part. I'm somewhat ambivalent about one-throughs to get all the content, but doing as you suggest means that likely many people will merely not do the other content in favour of the badge.

I'm also very much against anything that removes "option", which I feel your suggestion would do.

Also, you can only get the badge by doing the missions yourself. joining someone else for them will not award it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Hallelujah. Now if only they will fix up most of the other mission badges like that, I'll be happy.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You mean like the "War Wall Defender" badge that gets rewarded regadless of whether you succeed or fail?

Just glad they got the "Time spent in BB/ Siren's/ Warburg" badges fixed. No more spending 5 consecutive hours in a zone

    [/ QUOTE ]

No, I mean, as in fixing other mission badges (Like the Save the Fortuneteller mission) so you can't get the badge by joining their mission. It has to be YOUR mission.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Why is this bad? Sometimes you just... miss the mission or whatever on a toon, it happens. Why is it such a bad thing to be able to join someone else to get the badge that you missed while doing other things?

5th Column - They are going to be coming back. The gladiator badge is not all we will see of them.

Can we put the whole "The Germans are censoring bums" thing behind us now?

"Mez protection" doesn't let the scrapper one-shot the dominator from parts unseen without ever even offering the dom the chance to run away, let alone fight back.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The end result is the same. Almost no risk.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Y'mean, like a controller vs a brute? There's balance on both sides, this is the only issue where there is no equal.

It takes three or four apps and it's done and that's if the scrapper doesn't have a toggle like Integration.

How is that the same as "BAM one-shot you're dead"? At least the dom has the chance to run away. If you've been AS'd, you don't have the chance to even run away, you're just dead before you've even seen what's killed you.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This point is not legit given that 1-shotting will be removed from the game. Thus if you get ASed from 300 feet away, you have plenty of time to pop a green or use a self heal.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's not a cure-all. I spend almost no time, even on my squishies, running around with 100% health. All it takes is 1 hp missing and it's a one shot.

My poitn is as legit (or as illegitimate as is the case right now) as yours.

But, I'll be more happy with the one shot nerf.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm also looking forward to this, although, I fail to see how it's going to solve the issue.

If I need to team to be able to see a stalker and have a chance of survival, then they should have to team to defeat me and my team.

I dont' think they should allow Stealth and Hide to stack and instead give STalkers an inherent power that allows hide to grant the same -perception as hide+stealth currently does, but only when teamed with another non-stalker.

75% of Hide is 375 -perception.
    Grant Invis is 611 -perception.
    Stealth is 390 -perception.

So it just means that a Stalker needs to have a friend or a Buffbot to do the same thing. It won't actually prevent the problem.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Hide Suppresses for 10 seconds when you attack or are attacked.
    So does Stealth.
Grant Invisibility and Group Invisibility cancel the stealth bonus all together when you attack or are attacked (you keep the +Def though.)

EDIT: Additionally, this change was mostly aimed at the Bloody Bay and Siren's Call levels where Stalkers are so far above any other AT in Kill Count vs Death Count that it isn't even funny. In higher level PvP zones, players have plenty of options of dealing with Stalkers, which *should* force Stalkers to Team more.

I sort of wonder if Cryptic isn't hyper sensitive about doing anything with Blasters due to the preception that "fixing" Blasters will lead to (and this is still a misperception) a new "City of Blasters"

    [/ QUOTE ]

This is incongruous due to the fact that they consistantly have loads of bandwagon jumpers for every AT they buff, why should blaster be the one they care about and ignore the fact that everyone jumps on the whatever AT it was that was buffed last?

Secondly, "City of Blasters" is a myth, it was "City of Fire/Dev Streetsweeping Blasters". Massive difference that no one sseems to want to get because it's easier to present that myth in their mad attempt to make sure that they get to eat our lunch.

Hell, I'd take one that mildly gives a [censored] about the AT.

Well, _Castle_ meets that standard at least:

    [ QUOTE ]

RE: Fix the Blaster in the fewest possible moves
I like a number of the ideas you present. Many simply won't happen, for a variety of reasons, but some are quite doable. When I get out of my current mountain of work, I'll re-read this and try and implement some of it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not just an acknowledgement that change needs to happen, but an announcement of an intent to actually implement some suggestions. That's more than Tankers and Defenders have gotten so far, and they're both clearly hurting as well (albeit, not as long).

    [/ QUOTE ]

The only difference between _Castle_ and the other members of this dev team is that _Castle_ hasn't actually been posting long enough for any of his "soon" "we'll get around to it" and "we're looking into it" answers (which is basically all they are, same as the othe rmembers of the team) to expire into the nether regions of Developement Purgatory with the statements of the rest of the Dev team.

The thing that pisses me off about this is that here we have a brand new AT. It's brand new! and it's getting all this work done on it (don't get me started on whether or not the whole AS thing is getting "looked at", 'cause clearly it ain't) and here we are, almost two years later, with nothing.
  21. *hands Revolver_Law a beer*

EDIT - Besides, he's a little busy with an AT that really needs help, 'cause it's so broken.

Oh, yah, but you're not a dick about it.
  24. [ QUOTE ]
Interestly enough Circuit Boy doesn't irritate me. I believe that is because he is up front about his point of view and states it fairly. You do know that he was originally a big defender of the developers? That only their continued failures at public relations and honesty converted him to his current state of distrust.

    [/ QUOTE ]

We were ALL that way. In fact, the only blaster who seems to continue to support the devs is Friggin_Tazer, and you'll notice that he almost never posts here.

I'm reserving my judgement on _Castle_ until after I7, but while I've seen no evidence that he's as bad as the rest of the dev team (Geko!) I certainly have seen no actual evidence that he's done anything that they haven't beyond merely talk to us more. Either way, I'll wait until after I7.

As far as CB is concerned, I often agree with him, but there is a pomposity in much of what he writes which detracts from the message. Anyone with real knowledge of clarity in the form of the written word will understand that it's not merely the message, but the way in which it is transmitted.

Finally, Erratic was a blow-hard know-it-all who tended to obfuscate with numbers as often as he would post anything meaningful. I'm just as glad to see him gone.

EDIT - I just realized that I came off sounding like I was takling about someone for whom I actually have a degree of respect in a manner that negates their presence. Sorry, CB.

That being said, however, I find myself in agreement with Electronite's assessment on this particular thread... regardless of how off topic it may be.
