Quote:I pretty much agreed with you on the point that style isn't all that matters. I just also added that both style and DPS are important to balance. I also mocked a few things you said, there is that. You did. You spoke in absolutes. That's arrogance.
Even I left room for error on my half. You didn't.
Arrogance.
Also, speaking in absolutes doesn't make you arrogant, it makes you a Sith. Not sure what you mean by that. -

I love the fact that you think Beast Mastery is underperforming because you didn't get enough time to beta, narcissist much?
Players, in all betas have given tons of constructive criticism, but due to scheduling constraints the devs can't always give them the attention they need. You cite Dual Pistols as evidence of this. Many, many players pointed out DP's deficincies, from the overt style to the damage. The devs have heard this and plan to someday look into it.
Style and performance are both equally important to a new powerset, arguing for an improvement to either is fine, but declaring that all other players are sabotaging the entire game industry while you stand alone in the gap is pretty funny, so please continue. -
As a person who loves the New 52 redesigns, this doesn't look good. He really needs a belt of some kind to help break up all the blue. However, I know that if Zak Snyder does anything well, it's making good looking movies, so I'm sure this will look amazing on screen.

I wouldn't be surprised if after a while of being cycled out they were added to the store. I'd support such a thing as well, let Tier 9 VIPs get the first shot at it, then after a while let everyone buy it.

Would it be possible, I'm sure through some code and animation wizardry, to make it so our powers we use in our Primary/Secondary sets don't force us toredraw our weapons?
I recently asked this on Freedom Fridays Facebook QA, the reply was that it would definitely be brought up, which I and am sure many others very much appreciate.
This problem limits my concepts quite a bit. I know this is a personal peeve, but I really can't stand redraw and will do whatever I can to limit it. When choosing powers for a character I want to use a Weapon with I'm almost always drawn to something "set and forget" like Willpower. Or avoiding fast sets Kinetics when going with a ranged Weapon, same problem.
I'd love to use more armors, such Fiery Aura and even the antithesis to set and forget, Regeneration, but the thought of increasing the amount of redraw sends the character concept back to the drawing board pretty fast. So I find myself limited to hand and elemental sets when considering "busier" primary/secondaries.
Some powers don't cause weapon redraw, such as Brawl, which gives me hope that this is possible. I'm not asking for a complete removal of redraw, but asking that it be eliminated from at least our Primary/Secondary powers. Everything else would be fair game, but no longer would your Build Up or Heal make your weapon disappear only to redraw it seconds later.
I know its likely a lot of work for what would be a QoL feature, but I know my altitis would very much appreciate it. I'd probably end up buying even more slots too, so $$$. -
This appears to be one of the best Staff threads going, so I apologize for talking Brute here...
After all these years I still don't have a Regen character and I want one dammit. I'm considering Staff/Regen, but being that I despise redraw, will Regen's clickiness get the better of me?
I'm down to either Staff/Dark or Staff/Regen, and while Dark is not without it's clicks, it definitely has less than Regen. It would be amazing if the devs could find a way to let us keep our weapons out when using our armor's powers, but that might be impossible,.
So Staff/Dark or Staff/Regen Brute, any experience with either of these? -
This is the second time I've heard about Staff being very underperforming in ST DPS, any Scrapper mages know anything more about this? I'd love to know a bit more before I drop points on this Tuesday, thanks.

I currently have AT&T DSL and its fine when it works, but it's always been a headache, I've spent countless hours on the phone with customer support and still no solution, I just have a crappy, at best intermittent connection.
My only other option would be Verizon, they have full 3G and some 4G coverage here, my connection would as fast/faster than my current speeds with AT&T even. I'm concerned about CoH however. I know the inherent latency would cause things like FPS and the like to be mostly unplayable, but I figured an MMO just might be ok.
Anyone else use Verizon to play CoH, and if so, how well does it work?
TLR - Playing CoH with a Verizon 3G/4G connection, how about it?

I'm considering rolling a SD/MA tank as well, how does Shield do for tanking higher level content?

Quote:I've been here quite a bit throwing ideas around, but this is definitely one of the best yet.Simple answer time:
ViP - Better be included in the Sub! After all these years...
Premiums - Must be bought, once purchased can use it forever after.
Any ViP that drops, loses any customization, same as IO's. Unless at the appropriate reward tier.
Has anyone PMd a dev about this thread? Can you even still do that? -
I have an idea, kinda like a bake sale.
Devs, use the frisbee tech to release the Big Red Ball on the Paragon Market. Use proceeds from it to speed up development of Power Customization 2.0.
There, we're still paying but its kinda backhanded. -
I like it, it expands on the mythology while deftly explaining the use of the S shield. As I recall the Superman mythos has long said the chest symbol is the El Family Crest, which all El Kryptonians would've regularly worn, so this isn't that big of a departure.
A new take on Krypton is fine with me too, the all crystal planet/civilization was cool looking but I was never a big fan of it. Having crystalline based technology was cool, just went overboard with the crystal motif. -
I don't usually get behind the fanboy rage, a lot of times its completely unfounded (Sean Astin as Samwise), sometimes even racist (Idris Elba being cast as Heimdall in Thor). In both of those cases the actors picked weren't just OK, they were amazing and the fanboy rage was completely unfounded.
This however gets a serious WTF from me. Seriously...wtf? -
Saw this movie Saturday night and loved it. It's definitely right up my alley of rated R, raunchy humor. The big surprise is that Tatum has some comedy chops, I think its mainly because he's playing a dumb jock and it all comes natural to him, whereas in his serious movies he comes across as a dumb jock.
I have no connection the source material other than my Mom used to really love the show. I'm sure fans won't like their beloved series being turned into an Apatow-esque buddy copy movie, but for me it was great.
One of my favorite parts is Ice Cube's Captain Dickson. He's nasty and he constantly uses MFer. It's refreshing to see the real Ice Cube again.
Also, this movie is very aware of what it is. Early on, when explaining what the investigation is a character says "They don't have any original ideas anymore so they just keep rehashing the same old crap over and over and hopes that no one notices." (extreme paraphrase).
Also, Rob Riggle = instant win. If you liked The Other Guys you'll like this, see it. -
While CoH Civil War is forming up here, one camp OK with purchasing APP/EPP Customization (or eating babies, whatever it takes) and the other demanding it be free, there is a special takeaway here; a good portion of CoH's players vehemently want this done ASAP.
I believe this has been brought up, but I asked this very question on facebook, referenced this thread, and the response was basically "We know its wanted, but we have to find the time for it." (paraphrased)
It's been 6 issues now since Power Customization was left unfinished, there are very few other suggestions or requests that would spur this much discussion and people basically begging for it to be done. War Witch, Positron, Dink, Tunnel Rat, whoever it takes, please please please find the time. -
Quote:I kinda see where you're coming from, but we did get the base of Power Customization free, we're now asking for extras. Of course that's subjective, but I'm viewing the power sets themselves as the base with APP/EPP being "extra".<qr>
No.
This would be the sort of thing that would make me leave again, and warn others against getting involved with the game.
It would be like a dealership selling you a car, then charging you an extra $3000 for the steering wheel, rear window and one of the wheels (rim, tire and all.) The work itself isn't finished, IMHO. It's something that nobody should have to pay for.
The ONLY customization I'd pay for - and probably gripe to some extent about - would be if the base system were in there (with the most-requested options, as well, like disabling the hasten effect) already, and they were charging for some over-and-above extra fluff customizations.
I've long said PC was left unfinished, and I agree that it absolutely should be free, but Paragon is operating under a different business model now and I have to accept that. Business is supply and demand, there's a lot of demand for this and it makes sense it would come with a price.
I like the idea of giving all applicable APPs and EPPs a "No FX" option for free, everything above that is for sale, that's an excellent compromise. -
I'd also like to say if this is an issue of a sloppy looking UI, such as giving a person the option to customize all pools, even pools they won't be using, DO IT ANYWAY.
Incarnate Customization UI is a cluster%^$ of massive proportions, its giant, confusing power lists are hard to navigate and just plain terrible but I'd rather have that 1000x over than not being able to customize my Incarnate abilities.
So if part of the reason we haven't got APP/EPP customization yet is not being able to work out a good UI, release whatever dog turd of a UI you can do now then refine it later, we don't care, we just want it to happen.
-
I'll add my voice to "It should be free, but hell yes I would pay."
If selling it in the market would make it happen, I'd pay in a heartbeat and I even agree with the prices a few people have set out.
Call it Power Spectrum 2.0 and sell it as two packs:
-Power Spectrum 2.0 - Ancillary Pool Customization 800 points
-Power Spectrum 2.0 - Epic Pool Customization 800 points
...profit. Its been six issues now since we first got Power Customization. I assumed they had delayed APP and EPP customization for one, at most 2 issues and now it seems by recent comments its been backburnered. This is a real shame, I think the devs underestimate how badly a lot of players want this.
So absolutely, if putting this on the market would make it happen, make it freaking happen. -

Will be watching all The Avengers lead up movies starting next month, finally getting really really excited. I think Trailer 2 did it for me, up until then all the marketing for this movie was pretty bad.
-
Probably not the most popular suggestion, but I think heroside still needs to lose some zones. There are just too many, spreads the players out way too much, causes unnecessary loading when your missions are all over the place and results in a lot of ghost zones that serve no purpose anymore.
I love the Rogue Isles set up of fewer zones with varied neighborhoods. Instead of having zones and hazard zones, just make the hazard zones sections of a regular zone. Would love to see things like Steel & Boomtown combined, IP & Terra Volta with Terra Volta taking up some of the unused miles of space in IP and so on. -
I just want to know if there are plans to quiet Lassie down just a bit. I think it would be more fitting of a dark set if it were ominously quiet with some growling mixed in.

Yeah I've always hated how the emblems stand out, the blended option looks great.
