Loving the Organic Armor, I plan on using it with my Kinetic Brute when GR is released, here are the various mutations of Exokin...
Exokin Level 1 Mutation:
Exokin Level 2 Mutation:
Exokin Level 3 Mutation:
Exokin Level 4 Mutation:
Exokin Level 5 (Final) Mutation:
Each of these will be a costume slot representing the ongoing mutation of Exokin (short for Exo-Armored Kinetic). I think my favorite part is the "psyche out" of the Level 5 Mutation. Up until then every mutation caused an increase in size and organic armor, then when he finally mutates into his most powerful form, its the smallest yet. -
Quote:Knowing my luck there were probably 2 buttons side by side on some NCSoft employee's computer screenI got one, too, and I don't have, have never had, and never will have, an Aion account. And I double-checked my Master Accounts to make sure.
As far as I'm concerned, this is just another attempt tp steal accounts, since Aion seems to be very good at that.
"Send Lightslinger GR Beta Invite" or "Send Lightslinger Fancy French Aion Newsletter" -
Briar, my main Lightslinger is a level 50 Energy/Energy Blaster, I have a few questions about your tactics.
Even while hover blasting from directly over the groups, I still find my powers rarely just knock the foes down, they still tend to knock them down and away. Sure, the KB distance is greatly reduced but its still knocking the baddies far enough to be an annoyance to melee teammates. Do you know of a solution to this?
I'm not even sure if this is still a problem (been a while since I've played Lightslinger), but back in the day whenever I would hover and attack directly over an opponent, I got the odd jittery spinning problem, like my character couldn't decide which direction to be pointed in, is this still a problem? -
Would love to speak with the winner from Scotland, PM me if you can!

Weird seeing my SoA's name top the first list
Here's my SoA, Magna Carta:
I've tried to play several AR blasters and corruptors, but none felt right. The Hunstman finally hit the mark for the gun toting badass for me, and that's where Magna Carta comes from. I plan on playing him strictly as a Rogue, never a true villain or hero.
Longbow File Information:
"Some say he's immortal and was even present at the signing of the Magna Carta in 1215. Magna Carta (Mag) is an expert marksman and an even better leader. Mag has been integral in the formation and preservation of several democracies the world over. The source of his political power and resources is unknown."
In game bio:
The Office of Strategic Services (OSS) was created during WWII to gather intelligence for the Allies. In 1945 it was abolished and later the CIA would pick up where the OSS left off. Being able to rewrite history comes in handy, eh?The truth is Truman was scared of the OSS and its power, but he saw what we were doing was necessary. Publicly the OSS was dismantled, in reality we were sent underground and given a limitless budget. Bankrolled by the UN, the OSS has been secretly holding this planet together for 68 years using primarily meta-humans.With the OSS secretly at the helm America has more than prospered and Paragon City has become the worlds capitol for super heroes, did you think that just happened by accident? I am the last surviving member of the 7 founding members of the OSS, you can call me Mag. -

Yeah, I'd love to see those screenshots. I wonder if they're purposefully not releasing those pieces because Kheldians can't have their signature sashes, almost as a way of maintaining some parity? I think that would be an awful reason, but a reason nonetheless.
I'll try to get some pics up of my new Huntsman, his name is Magna Carta. I 'd love to be able to use the Arachnos gloves, belt, and boots on his other slots, so here's to hoping I guess. -
Thought I would semi-hijack this thread rather than start yet another costume thread.
Any chance of making some Arachnos parts available across all costume slots? I know a lot of the parts do not fit with the current regular character models and would not be able to port (probably the gloves since they have fingers, the chest details with elaborate back pieces and so on).
However, maybe we could get some pieces, such as:
-Arachnos Helmets: Just like the Vet Reward options, but VEATs can customize the colors.
-Arachnos Bracers: Just like the gloves the regular Soldiers get, but they would be mounted on our standard giant mitten hands.
-Arachnos Chest Details: Similar to the chest details available now, but without the back pieces that are normally attached.
-Arachnos Belt: Seems simple enough.
-Arachnos Boots: Those soldiers have some really, really nifty boots! It's a shame we only get to use them on our first costume, would love to see some of these ported over.
I realize this is a pipe dream and we will never have the ability to mix and match all the Arachnos uniform pieces on our other slots, but just the ability to use a few pieces would be awesome. Thanks! -
hmm, I wonder if I need to re-download Mid's. When I launch it asks me to do an update, if I do it will crash the program. If I open without the update, it won't let me input Werner's datablock.

Quote:I agree, and its that sentiment that led me to wonder about what is wrong with Stealth.I look at this a little different than the OP.
Instead of complaining about Stealth I am thanking the Devs for giving me a way to skip the heck out of it. (Same with Acrobatics) Thank you, Danke, Gràsce, Grazias, Merci, Kiitos, Efcharisto, Mahalo, Barkal, Arigato, Xie xie!
Always makes me smile when I sign on an older toon that still has the Concealment pool. I get that respec urge immediately.
I believe Stealth's movement penalty should be removed, I would love to see the end cost dropped but I think that would be asking too much. Stealth having comparable stats to Combat Jumping would be amazing though. -
I was wondering what the Scrapper sages thinking about building my Katana/SR scrapper around level 40? The enhancement values aren't that far off from 50 and it would allow me to Ex- down quite a few levels before losing my set bonuses. Is this something to consider?
My Kat/SR Scrapper is 36 now and as soon as he hits level 37 I was thinking about diving into 40 IOs. Anyone have a build like this handy? I absolutely suck with MIDs. All I want out of this build:
-Combat Jumping, Super Jump
-Softcap best as possible
-Would love to drop DA if I can softcap without it (unless this is something that could hinder my gameplay).
Thanks in advance.
Edit: Instead of a whole build, some recommendation on what sets are great for soft-capping would be really handy as well, thanks! -
@JD: Sorry if the word "replaced" was a little strong, I'm just noting that an IO that takes up only a single enhancement slot gives the same functionality that an entire power gives.
Stealth is a power choice, one of your 4 pool choices and costs .35 endurance. I'm merely thinking that those conditions make the movement penalty a little bit overkill.
You're right, its not a *big* deal, with some slotting you can take care of the End issue and taking Swift can help negate the movement penalty, I just think the movement penalty seems like a leftover decision from a bygone era of CoH.
Fly used to be slower and had a huge endurance cost because it was so safe. Now the end cost is roughly equivalent to other travel powers and most recently its speed was buffed. Hover was in the same boat, it was painfully slow to make up for the fact that it gave defense and increased maneuverability, but recently the devs upped its speed as well.
I like Stealth, especially for the Ice/Ice Dominator I'm leveling right now who is sort of a Wraith-like character. I plan on going Stealth + Stealth IO for a great alternative to Invisibility. I'm not complaining in the "REMOVE IT NAO OR I LEAVE" sense, merely observing something I think is odd.
@Postagulus. I wouldn't ask why Invisibility can't attack, it makes you completely undetectable by 99% of the foes in the game, that enough is the benefit. And Stealth/Invis suppressing when you attack just makes sense; invisible or not, if you punch someone they know you're there.
The reason I asked here instead of just going ahead and posting this in Suggestions or PMing a redname was I thought maybe I should get a little education by some wiser players before I go spouting off, so thanks for the advice guys! -
Running the Stealth power from the Concealment pool lowers Run and Fly speeds by 35%. What is the justification for this penalty?
Stealth has almost been completely replaced by the Stealth IOs, it doesn't offer complete invisibility on its own, it uses quite a bit of end (compared to Combat Jumping, another power pool tier 1) and yet it still needs a penalty?
tl;dr version: Why does Stealth have a movement penalty? -
Mids and Suckerpunch do a great job of letting us plan out our builds, but I would like to see an official way, in-game way to do this, my idea is a Powers Consultant. This idea also offers a way for players to share and even automatically load a build into the game itself.
All city zones will have a Powers Consultant that has been trained extensively with coaching super powered individuals. By working with a Powers Consultant a hero or villain can drastically alter their powers, even becoming stronger in the process.
By clicking on the Powers Consultant the player can get a detailed breakdown of every power in their primary/secondary and available pools. They can then plan out a potential build, including enhancement slot planning complete with Set Bonus totals. The build is saved as a plain text file in a "Builds" folder in the City of Heroes directory. Players can share these files with others for quick and easy build loading.
The greatest benefit of the Powers Consultant is the ability to automatically use one of the pre-planned builds. If a player has a Respec available they can load a pre-planned build, click "Auto-Respec" and WHAMMY, your build becomes reality (as far as powers and slots go, you still have to go buy the enhancements yourself freeloader).
This is the first draft of the idea and I'm sure the forum collective can think of a better implementation or add/edit ideas. This isn't something I would file under "NEED IT NAO!!!!11!!one" but I think it would be a nice QoL update. -
I like the name Galaxy of Heroes, implies a continuation of City of Heroes without having to name it City of Heroes 2. World of Heroes makes sense as well, its just too close to the juggernaut of MMOs and we don't want people to think we're "WoW in tights!"
-
Quote:Or it could indicate that they're far enough into development that they now feel comfortable taking the first "public" step of development, snagging those trademarks for all to see (and be reported across MMO websites). My guess is this. CoH2 is now in the extremely extremely early "So, let's actually talk about doing this" stage, so they've decided to register trademarks as part of that.
I highly doubt that any actual work is being done on the project, because it would be silly to wait so long to trademark the name.
Additionally, there's no guarantee that it will ever get off the ground.
Having said that, I certainly hope it does and I hope it's glorious! -
Quote:Hmm, I see your point about contrast vs juxtaposition and its given me an idea that might accomplish something along those lines...to the costume creator!First thing that came to mind was 'Trenchcoat' with perhaps some work boots or something rather than *just* the pants.
I suppose the difference I'm seeing is 'contrast' vs 'juxtapose'. Two different elements can be completely different yet compliment eachother but the example you posted seems to keep them 'too separate'. A sleeveless jacket or some shoulder element might help.
IMO, tho. I'm not that good at making costumes but I know what I like. Yours just doesn't appeal to much of anything
Edit with the Version 2.0 of the costume:
-Pants, Perplex Pattern, and Goggles are now gray.
-New belt provides a little transition between the top and bottom.
I think I'm liking this better, hmm...
Also, the idea of a fighter that speeds up dust particles around him is awesome! -
-
Quote:I appreciate the feedback, but the fault you described with the costume is pretty much what I was going forI'd suggest getting a new costume >_>
It's like you took 2 heroes, chopped them at the waist and then flip-flopped their halves.I wanted a heavy contrast between the suit, high-tech / low-tech so to speak.
I basically wanted the ultra-sleek tech-suit, but coupled it with something to make it more combat looking, thus the pants.
And thanks for the powers advice, you're right in that my ideas would probably change as more info comes out about KM, I was just having fun pondering. -
I'm considering a Kinetic Melee Brute. I was wondering what secondary would work well for it. Willpower, as usual, will probably be awesome. Energy Aura will probably match KM aesthetically, but I can't stand it, even after the recent buff. Invulnerability sounds like it could be really powerful on a Brute, so I'm considering that pretty strongly.
Hm....KM/Will or KM/Invul? At least I have a couple of months to decide.
Edit: And if anyone can help with a concept, I've already got a costume ready to go for my KM Brute, I'm thinking he looks more Willpower that anything else:

Quote:Free Advertising. People who are not aware there is an expansion coming sees someone playing these sets, asks "How do you get those?" and whammy, another sale.Sorry but the question's gotta be asked. The way things are looking now players have to:
- Buy in early to get early access to Dual Pistols and Demon Summoning
Quote:- Wait until July and get access to four zones, 7 new costume sets, 2 additional powesets (parts of which we've previously seen in-game for NPCs), and level one access to the new incarnate system
- Wait until 4th quarter 2010 to get the remaining 9 levels and the new endgame system and perhaps another high-level zone (but only if we buy GR 3 months earlier).
Quote:And in the meanwhile, Ultra mode which was flagged for retail is now free. And in its place comes an awful lot of last minute bait and switch improvements.
My question is: why? Why not just package it together in one retail expansion and let players enjoy? The way its all piecemealed out now, players might as well wait until 4th quarter to get Going Rogue and enjoy it all in one go rather then buying in now and waiting 9 months to get the full product?
This just seems like a really weird business model somehow... What's the logic behind it again? -
Sure, just like Superman. His costume has been tweaked and refined dozens of times over the decades, admittedly sometimes more drastic than others. Even the Red/Blue debacle was mainly just to drum up publicity and a temporary plot tool.
Some examples:
So if the most iconic superhero ever can go through such drastic changes...why can't our iconic hero do the same? Actually, it turns out he's already gone through a few revisions himself:
So why would another revision hurt?
I'm not calling for Statesman and the Phalanx to be remade into unrecognizable figures, just give them some adjustments and tweaks to make them look better.
For the record, I think just giving States a full helmet goes a long way towards making him look better, check this out:
-
The entire Freedom Phalanx desperately need make overs. They are the "face" of the game to newcomers because they're splashed all over the boxes, ads, anything in marketing uses the Freedom Phalanx in some way or another. Their costumes all look old, dated, they're just "generic heroes".
Statesman's look was so bad, I almost didn't buy the game because of it. "Really, the main character is a shoddy Captain America ripoff with a weird mask?"
