Please, please, please...
If you are going to do anything more with the options screen in any way or fashion, have someone go through the entire list and reword everything so that the options are not worded as a negative so we do not have to "Disable" a negative setting to enable it. As it is now, the wording for all of the web-stats options is:
Hide <info> from web page
If you enable the option in the menu, the actual result is to disable the option, which is stupidly counter-intuitive. Make all of these options read something like:
Show <info> on web page
Also, reword and make all in-game communication options ENABLED by default so the options read as:
Allow Enemy Local chat Enable
so that we have to take action to ignore enemy communications, instead of needing to take action to communicate with players of the opposing faction. I dislike interacting with almost all other players, but even I think it's stupid to have the default setting to disable cross-faction communication.
Also, enabling all of thse options to be set with slash commands so that keybinds and macros would set all the options as desired would probably be appreciated by more persons than just me.
For additional suggestions, I would like an option to hide all information for all characters on my account with a single setting and have a per-character option to allow the information on the web. My understanding is that we have to "opt out", which would be annoying to do with multiple characters that I play infrequently. I understand that it might be enabled by default to show a large population of characters for the sake of appearing "active" but that seems pointlessly artificial. Perhaps adding a global option to update characters as they are logged on might be good. I.e., if you do not set your global account to be hidden, then the system works as originally stated; if you set your global account to be hidden, you have an additional option to "Update characters to web page when logged in".
Obviously, if it requires too much work, it might not be feasible, but I, for one, would appreciate it.

Hi Grumble,
Thanks for the feedback! As I noted earlier in the thread, we've already received feedback about the options and the desire to make them more intuitive. -
Weve had a lot of fun judging the submissions to this years Halloween Costume Contest! Out of this years selection, the team has chosen the top 10 submissions. Out of those, weve selected the Grand Prize, Best Hero and Best Villain winners. Now, its your turn to get involved!
Below we have a poll of the next seven best submissions (as deemed by us). Cast your vote for who will win the Community Pick prize package!
Thanks for everyone who voted, we'll have the results at 10 AM Pacific on Monday, Nov. 26th and you will be able to see who won then!
As for the Grand Prize, Best Hero and Best Villain winners, we cant announce them until we hear back from them. Were hopeful to hear from all of them and announce them shortly!

I mostly just skimmed my way down to here, so maybe I just missed the answer to this question, but what exactly is the point of this?
Is it just so that people can find new people and contact one another, or does this feature offer a more useful service that I haven't figured out yet?
[/ QUOTE ]
More details and the full feature announcement will be coming in the near future.
The purpose of this announcement is to let people know that we will be doing something and, if they don't envision they want to be involved, can configure their in-game options as needed to limit their character's information availability. -

Also, know that characters who haven't logged in for over 90 days, such as an alt you haven't played in a while, will not be included.
[/ QUOTE ]
is that like, ever? Or once we log them in after 90 days they get their stats displayed?
Also what about new alts that we make after this feature goes live? will we be able to have a page for them as well?
[/ QUOTE ]
Once a character is logged in, their information would become available, unless their settings prevent it. -
[ QUOTE ]
... but I would indeed like my characters' privacy to remain intact.
[/ QUOTE ]
If you do not wish to have your character information available in the future, please make use of the above described settings. This is why we are giving advance notification.
Please keep in mind that these settings are on a per-character basis. Also, know that characters who haven't logged in for over 90 days, such as an alt you haven't played in a while, will not be included. -

Oh, and just a side note, is I11 coming out sometime before next year?Keep up the great work.

The team is still hard at work squashing bugs in Issue 11. We plan to have another update to the Training Room soon. While Issue 11 won't be out for this long US holiday weekend, it is certainly planned to be out before the scheduled Dec. 10th Prestige Grant and Debt Wipe. -

if this is going to be something that reflects our stats on the website, I am against something like this as it just gives the RMT spammers something to work with especially if it is a friends list. I would feel horrible to subject friends to that spamming because I didnt click an option. If it strictly an in game thing then make the friends list non-viewable by default.
[/ QUOTE ]
We don't believe this will make it any easier for spammers to reach you.
Additionally, we are aware of the situation with in-game email spam and working to address the problem in a future version of the game. -
I wanted to follow up on this announcement to say that I'm sorry it is a tease of what is to come. At this time I don't have more clarification of how these settings will be used.
Also, we understand that the "Enabled/Disabled" option settings are not as intuitive as they could be. For these, and other, settings "Yes/No" options would likely work better. -
In the near future we will be making use of some previously unused Character options and we want you to be aware of them so you can configure them to suit you. In the Options menu, under the Miscellaneous section, there are four web options:
- [*] Hide Statistics from Web Page[*] Hide Power Info from Web Page[*] Hide Badges from Web Page[*] Hide Friends from Web Page[/list]These Web options will soon be used. If you do not wish to have your characters information be displayed on the World Wide Web, you will want to configure them to be Enabled. If you enable Hide Statistics from Web Page, none of your information will display. If that option is disabled, then you can configure the next three options: Powers, Badges and Friends List. By default, your Statistics, Powers and Badges will be on, but Friends List will be off.
To clarify, information could include such things as: statistics found on the in game kiosks, your different costumes, friends lists, powers and what enhancements are slotted into them and badges obtained.
All of these settings are configured per character. Characters who have not logged in for over 90 days, regardless of whether they are tied to an active or inactive account, will not be viewable.
We will have more information about this feature soon; in the meantime we wanted all of you to be aware of these settings in the event you do not want your character information to be public.

Well see you there! -
I've had some questions about if a character that hasn't been active for a while but is still listed as in a supergroup, if they will count toward the 20,000 grant. The 20,000 is applied for each member in the supergroup, regardless of their activity or status. If they show on the roster, they will be included in the 20,000 per member grant on the 10th.

[ QUOTE ]
Will SGs on Test get the prestige grant? There are many SG's created after the mega-prestige period for new test bases. With Test population relatively low, it is hard for a Test SG to build up significant prestige. The grant would help them tremendously.
I asked this question on the test server forum and received no official reply. Some suggested we just keep copying a rich character to test over and over and convert his influence to prestige. I'm sure that would work, if you had significantly wealthy live characters. The invention system has done its work of being a "gold sink", and the days of huge wealth for me are over.
[/ QUOTE ]
We'll likely be running the scripts to do the Debt Wipe and Prestige Grant on the Training Room (on the beta version of Issue 11) sometime before Dec. 10th to test it out. So, yes, you should see this on the Training Room. As soon as we have a date, we'll let you know. -

For nearly $10 (including shipping) one can get a CoV or a CoH game with one month free. Is 240,000 prestige (12 slots) worth $10 to you?
[/ QUOTE ]
Ooops. If it's just one side of the game, it's only 8 slots and 160,000 prestige.
[/ QUOTE ]
Umm....there is no more getting "one side of the game" anymore :-D
[/ QUOTE ]
To be clear, getting the other side of the game was a one time thing. If you make a new account with just CoH you will only have CoH (or vice versa for CoV). -
[ QUOTE ]
Just to be really clear - that means your debt is going to get wiped over the maintenance run on the morning of Dec 10th, right? Go crazy on Sunday the 9th, not on Monday the 10th.
[/ QUOTE ]
Correct. -
[ QUOTE ]
LH, I assume that means, it's not taken back if the person leaves the SG?
[/ QUOTE ]
Correct, the grant is a one time script thing. Basically X number of people in SG, then give X times 20,000 prestige. -
[ QUOTE ]
Will this debt wipe count as debt paid? I am trying to get my badge but don't want to have to die a few times over again just to get it, if I don't already pay off what I need by then.
[/ QUOTE ]
The debt badges only accrue for debt paid off and no, the debt wipe won't count toward that. While we understand that some may not like to have their debt to be wiped, our feeling is that well, it's not too hard to bounce into some bad guys and take a fall to get it back.
Hopefully this isn't too much of an inconvenience for anyone. -
Please use the following thread to discuss the below announcement:
As was included in the recent communication, A New Age, announcing the acquisition of the City of Heroes franchise from Cryptic Studios by NCsoft, there is an upcoming character Debt Wipe and Supergroup Prestige Grant.
When: December 10th, 2007
Prestige Grant
Supergroups will receive an additional 20,000 Prestige per Supergroup member on Dec. 10th! This means SGs could acquire up to 3 million Prestige based upon their Supergroup membership roster! This is a one time grant, based strictly on the number of people in the Supergroup at the time the grant is done.
Debt Wipe
Its time to get crazy! We will be clearing out any accrued debt that characters have on Dec. 10th! So, get out and find some spectacular ways to take a faceplant! Organize some chaos events and generally have some fun, knowing that any debt you have will disappear on Dec. 10th! -

What if one has a character which was created in capital letters and now one wants to keep the name but correct their mistake. Will that cost $20? Is there any way around this?

I believe you can make that change with a singe $10 purchase. -

Woo hoo! Welcome back Manticore you sexy beastNice to have you back on the team. Boy. All the old gang is coming back. Feels like the old days again all those years ago.

Please keep in mind that Mr. Fish's day job is still on the as yet unannounced MMO project at NCsoft North American Headquarters in Austin, TX. However, we are very happy to have him more closely collaborating with the City of Heroes team! -
