We got prestige but we didn't get the debt wipe...Can a Red Name please comment, and only for the previous reason that all my toons have debt and I don't want to start working it off if we are gonna get the debt wipe today as promised.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The Debt Wipe is ongoing and should be finished up soon, as I posted here! Our apologies for any confusion.
  2. Hi everyone,

As some of you may have noticed after the servers came up from this morning's maintenance, not everyone had their debt removed in our previously announced Debt Wipe. The debt wipe process is ongoing (some of you really racked some up!) but should be finished up soon.

    Our apologies for any confusion.
  3. Just FYI, while it's a help, the City Vault isn't the best way to check if a name is available on a server as characters who haven't been active in over 90 days won't show.

The check name feature at character select is a much better way to check names.

Yup, things are pretty backed up here in Community Command Central. Our apologies but we don't anticipate we'll have announcements and emails out until next week at the earliest.

Is data already being tracked for the vault?

If so, for how long has it been tracking?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Yeah.

As for how long, not sure, sorry.

Edit: actually, it's all data that the server already tracks, as I understand it. It's just making it available for the web servers to have and presenting it via the Vault pages.

  8. Hi everyone,

Our apologies for any confusion regarding the status of the servers this morning. To clarify, the servers did not come down; the maintenance was something not game impacting and we were able to perform the needed operations without bringing the servers offline.

We are always very careful to only take the servers down when absolutely necessary and in this case it just wasn't required to do what we needed to do.
  9. The US game servers will be coming down for maintenance starting at 1 PM Eastern (10 AM Pacific) on Friday, Nov. 30th. We estimate the servers will be down for at most 2 hours. The downtime is to apply a "behind the scenes" hotfix.

Our apologies for this interruption in service and thanks for your understanding.

i11 has been released! I've been looking forward to this all month! The first thing I did was build those vanguard claws that I can never correctly remember the name of!

Then... it sorta fell apart. My costume changes took 400k EACH, which would have been cut in half by the free tailor token, but someone goofed there. Understandable, and I can earn the inf back relatively quickly. However... the announcement of a free respec in addition to the respec recipes got me pretty excited, until I read Lighthouse's post that they're withholding said free respec until December 7th. Over a week away, with no explaination that I've seen!

LAME LAME LAME. I can't stress that enough... I've been waiting to respec my main for awhile now due to some pretty sorry power choices, yet now it'll cost me loads of inf or time to get one before the week is over, AND I'll have a free one sitting there unused afterward. Can we PLEASE get a good reason for this? I've not read one, and it would put my mind at ease if there was a reason for not handing out the respec now.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Hi Anonym,

Our apologies that you were inconvenienced by the timing of the free Tailor Tokens and Respec. With free respecs we've always given at least a good week's time for people to assess their options post release before making the respec available. That way, they can also make use of any respec they may already have (because the free ones do not stack). Also, it allows any new characters made (like the many in this issue made to play with the new power sets) the option to respec.

Hopefully you can understand our reasons for the timing on this respec.

Hey, JKevinCarrier, did you know you can completely opt out of the system before it goes live?

    [/ QUOTE ]
Hey, Creole, did you know osme people have dozens, or even SCORES, of characters ... and to opt out "completely", you have to log into each and every single one?

That's my complaint: no account-wide "set all my characters to 'Not shown', thanks" option. And I consider it a flaw in the plan, even though MOST of my characters will display MOST details happily and unreservedly.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Hi Pax Arcana,

Yes, we hear you and have passed on the desire for some global settings. However, keep in mind that if you have an alt and haven't logged into it in over 90 days, it won't be showing up anyway until you do log into it. So, you only need to be concerned with characters you have logged into in the last 3 months.

Hopefully that will reduce the amount of logging in people have to do. Thanks for your understanding with the system as it currently is. We're very excited to reveal soon the full nature of how these in game settings and their corresponding data will be used.
  12. We wanted to update everyone on the Free Costume Tokens. Unfortunately, these were not applied as was initially planned for the release of Issue 11. Rather than take the servers back down to apply those tokens, we are planning to give them out on our usual server maintenance period on the morning of Friday, November 30th.

Our apologies for the delay and any inconvenience caused because of it.

Also, to clarify, every character will receive a token for each available costume slot they have.

    Wrong Number

Where do you live on this crazy planet?

I reside in the wonderful and weird state of New Jersey.

    Your age and gender?

A lady never reveals her age.

So what do you do for a living?

Believe it or not, I restore and sell old pinball machines. It is my own business.

Neato! What is the most challenging part of the job?

I would say finding machines to restore and some of the odd parts certain games used.

Any particular machine you restored that you are fond of?

I would say my Indiana Jones of the newer games, and Jet Spin of the older since that was the first one I played as a kid.

Tell me a bit about your family.

I am married and my husband is a research scientist. We have three kids, two boys and one girl.

Do you play CoX with your family?

Yes, all the time, and in fact, it was my son Alex that got me into the game.

So out of you all, who would you say is the best player?

Myself of course! Though, I am sure my sons would dispute that opinion. My husband knows better.

If you had to pick, what would be your top five songs of all time?

Bohemian Rhapsody, I Want to be Sedated, Salvation American Idiot, and Another Brick in the Wall Part 2.

    Your top five movies?

Dawn of the Dead, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Road Warrior, and American Beauty.

Who would you say are your favorite authors?

Frank Herbert, Douglas Addams, and Orson Scott Card.

What would be your favorite quote?

    "What's your malfunction?"

What other hobbies do you have?

Pinball, old arcade games, and board gaming to name a few of many.

Any TV shows you could not live without?

Dexter, The Shield, Survivor, The Office, and Lost. I’m also a big fan of Battlestar Galactica

You said your son got you hooked on this game, but what was it that kept you coming back?

I read a lot of superhero comics as a kid and really liked the execution of the game. Its interface is the best one out there, in my opinion.

What is your favorite aspect of the game?

Supergroups and teaming. I have some friends here I have known for years that I would not have met otherwise.

How did you end up picking your home server?

I had started a character on another server, but my husband very quickly found out that some of his real life friends were here.

So out of all the archetypes in the game, which is your favorite?

For villains, I would say Brute, and on the hero side, Scrappers.

    What is your play style?

I like teaming, but also like the ability to play solo should a team not be available. Actually, my mode has a lot to do with how and who I play.

What is your favorite zone in game, and why is that?

My favorite zone is Dark Astoria. It is so different and immersive. Also, I am a big fan of zombie movies and stories.

So out of all the storylines in the game, which one do you love to do even though you have done it bajillions of times before?

I am very fond of the TV's missions and storyline. I think they are well done and funny. The feud with the Radio gets me every time.

Off all the features that have been added this year or will be added this year, which one is your favorite?

I feel the addition of the Invention system and markets added a lot to the game, especially for characters that had long hit 50.

What advice do you have for our newer players out there?

First off find yourself a good supergroup with experienced players in it that are willing to show you the ropes. Second, write an origin! I always enjoy reading them and have made friends many times after people comment on them.

    Any closing comments?

Remember that this is a game and that there are real people on the other side of the screen.

    Happy Black Friday!

It's that time of the year again. Yes, everyone's favorite day to shop! It's black Friday, everyone is running around, pushing, shoving, trying to get those great deals and gifts. With some stores opening as early as 5am, most are hoping to complete their Christmas shopping all in one day.

I sat back over the weekend and was curious on what other people thought--if they had any likes or dislikes, and if they wanted to accomplish anything on this Black Friday. Here is what a few folks had to say:

    Nerferteri

I avoid Black Friday like the plague, and this Friday I am going golfing, hehe.

    Hericane

Personally, I just see it for what it is, the busiest retail day of the year. I've both worked retail and shopped on this day, and I rarely do either now aside from online. I've tried shopping during it for a few years, and it's too much of a hassle, so I don't bother anymore. Sales are not worth it. I have taken Christmas shopping tips from a few friends. Whenever I see something Christmas-worthy I buy it then, whether it be November, December, or June.

    Toonies

Since Black Friday follows Thanksgiving, I will say that I am truly thankful that I am not in retail anymore. I am also thankful I have finished most of my Christmas shopping so I will not be compelled to check out the door buster ads and stand in some silly line at midnight when I could be playing CoH and have much more fun. I will have to work, but shorter hours than usual, so I'm pretty happy about that.

    Mr. Ultimate

Personally living in Houston, Black Friday doesn't appeal to me much. The stories you see on the news of people getting trampled to get in stores...scary stuff. I plan on getting some shopping done on Wednesday. My four year old granddaughter wants a Polly Pocket Jet, and we are getting her three year old sister a Fisher Price Shake and Go Race set. We will be getting other things, but those are the two things we know for sure. I will also be watching the LSU vs. Arkansas football game on Friday! GEAUX TIGERS! Other than that, I'll be playing CoH and eating some yummy leftovers, Mrs. U is a awesome cook! Probably also make a run to my comic store on Friday, watch Live Free or Die Hard that evening since I plan on picking it up for the weekend. Kinda boring, huh?

    Mistress Noire

When I moved to the United States from Canada, Black Friday was something also new to me. I never knew what it was. But after my mother and father-in-law explained it to me the first year I was here, my response was, "It's is just like Boxing Day." But as far as my plans for Black Friday, I'm going to be at work. My store opens at 6am, and my co-manager will be there at 5am. I will follow at 1pm and work until close since I am in retail, Fun fun eh?

But in closing, Happy Black Friday everyone. Please be safe if you decide to go shopping. Plan ahead, and bring food and wear comfortable shoes. Make sure you leave your kids at home since kids can always influence buying stuff you don't need or convince you in some way to leave early. Be sure to stay focused and don't get caught up in the craziness!

    Rogue Isles Thanksgiving

Listen up, little children, it's story time once again, and your teacher MrsAlphaOne is going to tell it to you. It's the history of Thanksgiving in the Rogue Isles.

It was a windy autumn day in Grandville, 1968. The seagulls were screaming their doleful cries. The cold sea was lapping up against the beach. Everything was serenely calm. A small fiddler crab skittered across the rocky beach in search of a tidal pool to hide in.

A deep rumble started. The crashing of machines landing on the Grandville beach caused the seagulls to fly away. A monstrous form stepped out of one of the black armored hovercrafts. His upper six appendages stretched out over his head as he cried, "I come to claim what is mine!"

For at least a mile in each direction, black hovercrafts dotted the beaches. Platoon after platoon marched out of the vehicles, ready to swarm the waiting defenses of the walled city.

President Marchand, a feeble old man, barked orders to the waiting defenders of the city, "Get organized! They're coming! They are coming to destroy us all! Man the Howitzers! All available personnel to defensive positions!"

The defenders of the small isle jumped into their armored vehicles, into gun turrets, into houses and trenches. They braced themselves against the oncoming onslaught of black death.

For hours the battle raged, Arachnos versus the defenders of Grandville. Dead littered the streets from both sides. During the final rush, when Recluse pushed his remaining troops to the limit, he came upon Marchand himself, defending his central building, the nerve center of the Isles. Our Mighty Lord Recluse, strode up to the old man, stabbed him through the heart with one of his proto metal legs, lifted him above his head, and said, "This is where your age ends, and mine begins, fool!" He tossed Marchand's lifeless corpse into the nearest gutter.

Recluse ordered his troops to raze the building to the ground. "Destroy it with fire! Use any means you have at your disposal, just get that out of my sight immediately!"

And with those words, the hallmark of Marchand's reign went up in flames. A new age had begun in the Rogue Isles. An age of prosperity and technological advancement far beyond what we could have reached under Marchand's rule.

And that, my children, is what we have to be thankful for on this day in the Rogue Isles. We choose to celebrate Lord Recluse's glorious victory over Marchand and his lackeys, securing us a place to live comfortably for all time.

KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK! OPEN UP IN THERE! ARACHNOS AGENTS! TIME FOR INSPECTION!

    Turkey Potato Casserole

1 pound cooked turkey meat, shredded

    1 onion, chopped

1 (14.5 ounce) can green beans, drained

1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup

    8 ounces cubed Cheddar cheese

    8 ounces shredded Cheddar cheese

    4 cups prepared mashed potatoes

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

Place turkey in an even layer on the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish. Top with a layer of onion and a layer of green beans so that the turkey is no longer visible. Pour the condensed soup over the onion layer, then sprinkle with shredded cheese. Stir together the cubed cheese and mashed potatoes; spoon over the top of the casserole, and spread to cover.

Bake for 30 to 40 minutes in the preheated oven, until heated through.

    Turkey & Rice Soup

3 (10.5 ounce) cans condensed chicken broth

    2 cups water

1/2 cup finely chopped green onions

    1/2 cup uncooked wild rice

    8 slices bacon

    1/2 cup margarine

    3/4 cup all-purpose flour

    1/2 teaspoon salt

    1/4 teaspoon poultry seasoning

    1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper

    2 cups half-and-half cream

1 1/2 cups cooked, diced turkey meat

    2 tablespoons dry sherry

In a large pot over medium heat, combine chicken broth, water, green onions and wild rice. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer until rice is tender for 35 to 40 minutes.
Meanwhile, cook the bacon in a large skillet over medium heat until crisp. Allow to cool and then crumble. Set aside.

When rice is tender, melt the margarine in a medium saucepan over medium-low heat. Stir in flour, salt, poultry seasoning and pepper all at once. Cook, stirring until smooth and bubbly. Stir in half-and-half and cook until thickened for about 2 minutes. Stir half-and-half mixture into rice mixture. Stir in bacon, turkey and sherry. Heat through and serve.

Sweet & Sour Turkey Stir Fry

    2 tablespoons cornstarch

    2 tablespoons brown sugar

    1 cup chicken broth

    2 tablespoons soy sauce

    1 tablespoon lemon juice

    2 celery ribs, sliced

    2 carrots, sliced

    1 onion

    1 head of broccoli

    3 tablespoons butter, cubed

    2 cups chopped cooked turkey

1 (14 ounce) can unsweetened pineapple tidbits, drained

    1/4 cup slivered almonds, toasted

    Hot cooked rice

In a small bowl, combine cornstarch and brown sugar. Stir in the broth, soy sauce and lemon juice until smooth; set aside.

In a wok or large skillet, stir-fry the celery, carrots, broccoli and onion in butter for 3 or 4 minutes or until crisp-tender. Stir broth mixture; add to that pan. Bring to a boil; cook and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened. Add the turkey, pineapple with juice and almonds; heat through. Serve over rice if desired.

    Sweet Potato Cake

    1 3/4 cups white sugar

    3/4 cup vegetable oil

    3 eggs

    1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 cups cooked, mashed sweet potatoes

    2 cups all-purpose flour

    3 teaspoons baking powder

    2 teaspoons baking soda

    1/4 teaspoon salt

    2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

    1/2 cup beer

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking dish.

Stir together the sugar and vegetable oil in a large bowl until smooth. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla and sweet potatoes. Combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt and cinnamon in a separate bowl; stir into the batter 1 cup at a time, alternating with the beer just until everything comes together. Spread the batter evenly in the prepared pan.

Bake for 35 minutes in the preheated oven, or until a knife inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Cool completely before frosting or serving.

Since we know the feature will be going through regardless of feedback, can we get an addition of "hide character from web page" to hide a character entirely? That will make life a lot easier for those of us who don't want to participate.

Enabling the "Hide Statistics from Web Page" will do exactly that. The character will not have any information displayed.
