I've seen Hammerfall fight. He's very very good.
[/ QUOTE ]
He may well be, but if his build or tactics don't work against heavies, that doesn't automatically imply heavies are broken. If the majority don't have an issue with it, that would sort of imply things are reasonably well balanced, no?
[ QUOTE ]
And I've read EVERY post in this thread. What the majority are saying is "I can deal with Heavies; you must be rubbish if you can't"
[/ QUOTE ]
What the majority are saying is "I can deal with Heavies". What you are impying from that is "you must be rubbish if you can't", which as far as I can tell, nobody, is saying. I could if you like, but I'm not sure what value it would bring to the thread. -
"This server's too apathetic. Somebody start a TF I can join."
The fact that you turned up 25 minutes late (for whatever reason) and all the slots had gone indicate it is probably more like nobody enjoys starting/leading TFs, while there's a fair bit of demand for them.
It does strike me as odd that Union seems to have far fewer TF sign up threads. I'm guessing this is because more stuff is run in coalition/SG rather than that it isn't happening though.
Seriously, it isn't too late to post a thread and try to get one organised for tonight. -

My own team (blaster+emp) won one match against another blaster+emp and then lost to the mastermind team.
[/ QUOTE ]
you lost to the people who came second, who have won/placed in other PvP competitions with different ATs and who (unless I'm mistaken) have both chimed in on this thread to say how great blaster + emp combination is.
The nice thing about PvP is that good players can turn conventional wisdom on its head (solo domi scaring the [censored] out of people in Siren's, how does that work since domis are t3h g1mp?).
Nobody is saying blaster + emp is an automatic 'I win' button, in exactly the same way that having a heavy isn't an automatic 'I win' button. It does make it slightly easier and puts the odds firmly in your favour but a good opponent can shred all of that. -
[ QUOTE ]
Besides one of my original points that Heavies serve no purpose in PVP other than making the reward-grinding in RV easier. For that reason alone I want to get rid of them.
[/ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
Who hates heavies? Id like to have some PVP in RV sometimes like tonight in a team, having a fight with couple brutes, until bzzzt..click hospital. I mean whats the bloody point??!!!
[/ QUOTE ]
Sounds like it. -
[ QUOTE ]
If half of these wonderful character concepts flying around here would be found in RV, I wouldnt have complained in the first place.
[/ QUOTE ]
Those "concepts" are in RV... on union -
[ QUOTE ]
Id be hard-pressed to kill the brute with or without my heavy if he'd be just standing still, but should I try, the villain heavy can come next to me and oneshot me. Balanced?
[/ QUOTE ] This is on the en/en blaster? Knockback king with boost range available?
[ QUOTE ]
Empath/blaster duo is not severe nor problematic. I have 0 problems with that.
[/ QUOTE ]
Then you're obviously teaming with/against the wrong empath.
EDIT: Stone Armour is part of ROCK (sorry)-Paper Scissors... I'd normally go fetch my /kin and watch them waddle away (the number of granite using brutes/tankers that sit there and let you drain them completely is shocking ... although they tend to learn pretty quickly) -
[ QUOTE ]
Please don't think the Syn/Weasel/Ravenswing hostility is actual hostility BridgerIt's just us.
[/ QUOTE ]
oh, that's okay then -
[ QUOTE ]
You think that is funny?
[/ QUOTE ]
Hell yeah.
I've managed to solo quite happily in RV without heavies, even taking on people who have heavies (this is with both a /kin corruptor and a brute). Of course, I modify my tactics appropriately. I even take specific powers because I know they'll be useful. I'm not a regular PvPer and there are certainly people that can wipe the floor with me but I don't find heavies the deciding factor.
[ QUOTE ]
If the damn things could destroy each other just as easily I wouldnt complain. But if I send my heavy in alone it gets decimated by the masterminds/brutes. IF I try to take out the owner im oneshotted. Explain where is the Player vs Player part in here?
[/ QUOTE ]
The player vs player part is that apparently they can take out your heavy or you quite happily while you have problems coping. Unless I'm misreading what you're saying of course.
[ QUOTE ]
Element of uncertainty and randomness have no place in my textbook.
[/ QUOTE ]
This bit is just too funny for words. They are littered throughout my textbook. To be fair, my current textbook is one thousand exercises in probability, but a fair point nonetheless. If you don't want uncertainty and randomness, I'd suggest PvP isn't a good place to start looking. -
[ QUOTE ]
Apparently I AM alone in my view that heavies [censored] up PvP in RV.
[/ QUOTE ]
Clearly you are, since everybody else thinks RV is an XP/Inf/Prestige farming zone -

[ QUOTE ]
you can still use ur human powers, they just look like u can't.
[/ QUOTE ]
Really? The only way I've been able to execute them is by typing them directly into the chat window, and that has been purely since I8 hit. -
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
So presumably that makes us a weak team?
[/ QUOTE ]
That's edging towards being slightly confrontational, but yes... at least it would if you were playing Hero-side.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ah, I was replying to the implication that if you pull you're on a weak team (looks up at forum name) - if you have a tank onboard, right now, I'm inclined to agree, apart from a couple of specific missions with insane alphas. In general (I get the feeling tankers are uite rae in PuGs), there are places where herding, pulling or just plane steam rollering are the best choice. Unless you're about to pull the "we have a tanker on team and you will all play to fit my powersets (see original post)"
And 15 seconds is just to get an entire large room clustered for nukage... still better than the five minute snoozethons we had back in the day getting an entire map clustered. -
[ QUOTE ]
Indeed. Not only is herding boring, the fastest teams will simply kill the mobs where they stand instead of spending time to herd two mobs together.
[/ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
With a 'medium' effective team, herding is valid, and weak teams will use pulling. Usually this progress from weak to strong reflects the players level too.
[/ QUOTE ]
And the really strong teams will recognise that there are certain powers and situations where taking the 15 seconds or so it takes to get everything nice and centred makes absolute sense. Seeds of Confusion + Fulcrum Shift + Blizzard = very quick takedown, especially if you have a lot of annoying minions (malta/longbow). Of course, I still see a place for pulling, as the team I was on last night did exactly that and I think everybody on there was playing their (at least) second 50. So presumably that makes us a weak team? -
[ QUOTE ]
Yes, but even if it looks cool, I wouldn't advise on making a post teaching how to use any kind of bug. Anyway, it's no big deal and it will probably be fixed soon
[/ QUOTE ]
It's been like that since Issue 8, so don't hold your breath.
Far more irritating is the bug where you change back to human form, form powers are marked as active (but won't work) and human form powers are unavailable. More of a problem for warshades, given that it normally happens halfway in to a double mire ... I've stopped playing my WS until that is fixed. So from a players perspective quite a big deal...
Of course, given how few people play kheldians, I don't expect it to get fixed quickly. -

I can help you with your slotting a bit. I don't slot my Brutes attacks for damage. I've done some testing and having damage slotted in your attacks makes such a minor difference when you have full fury that it really is a waste of slots.
[/ QUOTE ]
erm NOPE :P
[/ QUOTE ]
[/ QUOTE ]
erm YEP:P
I'm not sure how much of a difference hasten/lightning reflexes make, but the main thing I do with every brute I play is slot 2 Acc, 3 Rech, 1 end, for the first few attacks. You need to build and maintain fury and slower, higher damage attacks run counter to that. If you team a lot (where fury is easier to build by getting beat on) then slotting for damage straight off makes more sense.
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
I personally don't like Build Up for brutes for the same reason as I don't like slotting for Damage. BU only really comes in useful when you're struggling to build fury or at the start of fights
[/ QUOTE ]
*cough* COT death mage stacked -acc....*cough* Minx & any /sr......
[/ QUOTE ]
yeah, plus always nice to have in PvP zones.
[ QUOTE ]
personaly ON ET & TF i would go 3xAcc, 2xDam 1xEnd neither ET or TF is exactly end light....
[/ QUOTE ]
That's got to be PvP slotting of some sort, right? 2 Acc, 3 Dam, 1 Rech on both, since I can only afford to spam both when I have speed boost on me anyway.
EDIT:- take a /kin corruptor and a length of gaffer tape... -
Fire/Ice is a nice combo (currently at 28), but only for teaming ... because you need fitness and leaping, so you don't have many spare power picks.
There are more efficient combos, unless you plan on herding + burning + nuking with support.
Not fun enough to play on a regular basis but also not bad enough to delete for the slot (I have a fire/device blaster at 35 in the drop slot) -
Stay sane, good luck and we'll (possibly) see you again at some point.
p.s.
the pram-master 3000 is out this season. It is exactly the same as the previous version but 3 kg lighter and twice as expensive. Enjoy. -

Also, are the Paragon Allstars still about? Would be great to meet up with old friends
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, last time I logged into the legendary paragon allstars, I was the only toon online with <100 days...
Last time I checked, there were two people in the all stars, neither of whom I knew, who both died of shock when somebody (else) spoke on the SG channel.
Welcome back regardless. There's some of the regulars still about (or back in some cases). -
If you're going kin in any way shape or form, it is worth slotting siphon speed with 3 recharge and taking hasten (also for 3 recharge).
You also are going overboard on end redux - you won't need that much.
Speed boost should be either 3 end mod or just one. -
[ QUOTE ]
Because everyone will cheat and have full HOs which is stupid some ppl (not me) wont have HOs so its not fair we slaughter them all night
[/ QUOTE ]
So if everyone will cheat and have HOs but some people won't, are those people not everyone?
Some people have HOs, others don't. I suspect that lag will claim some and it will all turn into a matter of luck anyway...
If I attend at all, it will be with a fresh toon created specifically for this event... if somebody wants to waste their time copying over HOs so they can win a competition with (what, 2 mill inf?) their time is obviously worth a lot less than mine... -
[ QUOTE ]
Why not? More people can take part this way, and everyone can get onto test.
[/ QUOTE ]
*shudders at memory of trying to get onto test during Eu Beta and the 10GB download session from hell*
another vote for test, fwiw. -
I got a lvl 24 Warshade that I wouldn't mind doing this on ... sadly, I'd have to join, skip out while I put the kids to bed then come back in... if that's a problem I'll just duo it with a friend instead.

[ QUOTE ]
Basically, the way I see it, Dominators were intended to be ATs that live on their inherent ability. They name of the AT and power are somewhat of a giveaway, I would think. All of the buffs the AT have received have not been to base abilities, but to Domination, which I think presses the point further. Most of the people I've seen complaining tend to be complaining about the AT's abilities while not under the effects of Domination, and I think they're barking up completely the wrong tree.
[/ QUOTE ]
Mind/En is probably the worst dominator power combination for this - the secondary melee powers are slow to recharge, the blasts suck and you have to use them in preference to the mind primary (which is as damaging and can give you a much better attack chain, if you aren't trying to build domination). It is very counterintuitive to play well (to me anyway), to the point I deleted mine and made mind/ice, mind/psi and plant/fire instead. Just sayin' -
shhhh....
they suck dude and we need another buff
They do need a much more active playstyle than most other ATs ... if you can get over the price of admission ,they do indeed rock.
