Seems like all mobs are behaveing like this. If they have seen you once, they seem to always see you even after they are no longer agrod on you and you are hidden.
[/ QUOTE ]
In the past it's been my experience that a trip to the Hospital, though the zone back to the mission, through the map and up the elevators and through more map back to the mob has been sufficient time / distance to allow the mob to cool down and lose aggro.
It might not be new to everyone, but returning from the Hospital into an instanced mission and having the mob still aggroed is new to me. -

AHHHHHH NECROPOSTING.
[/ QUOTE ]
lol I thought I had seen this one before.
On the topic though, something new happened to me last night (as in happened in July 06).
I was fighting Ms Liberty (solo) in an instanced mission and she killed me. I went to the Hospital and on the way back to the door turned on Hide and my other toggles. I was in Hidden state before I left the bottom of Lord R's tower. So I trought Grandville and get to the door, zone in (still hidden), travel the map, go up the elevator, travel the map (all while hidden) and walk up to Ms L it prep my attack.
And she turns around and starts whaling on me. [censored]??
Me = hidden and just back from hospital
Her = so what? and pound-pound-pound
Saw Mynx not lose aggro in the same way. Maybe those two are running some +perception power after they aggro, because before they aggroed I could walk up and wave my hand in front of their face. Not so fun a surprise. -

...that before DevCon signs went up, Crey was the company behind the arenas. The original backstory was to have Crey build and sponsor the arenas in order to cull compabt information about the city's heroes during the battles. This was scrapped sometime after construction phase one and before the foundation was put in.
[/ QUOTE ]
That's just what they want you to think. If you trace the money back, DevCon is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Crey! Don't believe their lies! For the love of God, Jackson Turner could be buried in that foundation! DON'T TRUS--

Hi...this...is...Avonlea...again. Sorry...about...that. I...don't...know...what...came...over...me.

Jackson Turner was taken by Arachnos, after the arenas were built, n00b. *sob*

Jackson Turner was taken by the Statesman and his cronies for trying to spread the truth!
You really think you're actually free when there's a psychic reading your every thought and a non-elected strongman running the city according to his dictates instead of the rule of law? -
Since some kind soul will eventually visit all the plaques, write down the information and then post it to these forums so that those of us at work can see it
would you please circumvent the delays in that process and the potential confusion inadvertent typos could create by just posting that information directly here or its own thread? -
Please, it was in English and was perfectly understandable.
This topic gets people wound up enough on just the subject matter alone. No need for cheap shots too. -

The thing is... Let's face it, the level 40 power pools aren't make or break powers. They're fluff, candy. They don't change the core of your character.
[/ QUOTE ]
Primal Forces had a great set of additional powers for my controller that changed the way he played very much for the better. Power Blast, Conserve Power, etc did become core staples in the +40 CoH game for him. -

If you're doing it with SGmates, you could have them take screenshots of the debriefings and clues and put them on Photobucket for you.

Clearly an optimal solution which helps to fully immerse a player in the game.... -

I understand that the devs don't want all the content to be available to any one hero or villain, but give me a break - are we expected to have 4 level 50 villains before we get to see all of the high level content?
[/ QUOTE ]
Team with others doing different arcs.
[/ QUOTE ]
All you can get while teaming is the mission breifing - you can't see the post mission debrief. IIRC you also can't see / read the clues that show up during the missions.
I like to take my time in order to read the stories, read the clues, read the debrief... IMHO teaming with another to see the arc is not even close to doing it yourself.

[ QUOTE ]
Not being able to respec out of your Patron is understandable from the way I see it.
Oh wait! I just realized something, people are looking at the powers instead of the Patron.
Wow, how anti-RP can you get?
[/ QUOTE ]
I don't really care about the powers too much, what I'm concerned about with the information available at this point in time is that with each villain I get to level 40, I'll be able to see 25% or so of the special content.
Because from what's been posted by the devs it sounds like once you "lock in" to a patron, the other partons won't give you their arcs.
I understand that the devs don't want all the content to be available to any one hero or villain, but give me a break - are we expected to have 4 level 50 villains before we get to see all of the high level content?
One of the main reasons I play is for the story and to me this smacks of a marketing droid's "brilliant" idea on how to keep people playing longer as opposed to a good design decision. -
[ QUOTE ]
For the record, there's one in Breakout, too, but it's an exploration badge instead of a hunt badge.
I just think of the unlockable contacts as the kinds of side quests you find in RPGs like Fallout or Suikoden or Baldur's Gate or whatever. A lot of these types of games have "contacts" that won't give you their quests unless you meet some kind of condition. Heck, some of them are only there to even give you their quests in between Event X and Event Y and if you don't go back to Place Z during this time you never see them. It's such a common gimmick it never occurred to me it would be perceived as unusual or, worse, malevolent.
[/ QUOTE ]
lol We must just have a different mindset...
While I liked Baulders Gate a lot, one of the things that I did *not* like about it was that after I finished it (without any guides or walkthroughts) and then months later did read a few of those guides, I found out that I had missed a lot of content. I had moved on to other games and had no time or desire to go back and re-play the game in order to see an additional 10% (n.b. made up percentage).
So for me the designers might as well have polished the visible bits more, got the game out earlier, done more QA or even just put less work in and therefore made more profit.
The hidden / unlockable content they put in to BG was completely wasted on me. And no, I didnt rush through the game. After I finished it and found out about stuff I missed, I did feel a bit steamed though.
Guess its just a different POV. -

The information is available with a five second Google search.
[/ QUOTE ]
And thus useless to the vast majority of players.
defending a broken system because you can find the answer somewhere else is silly.
[/ QUOTE ]
I like a lot about this game but one of the things that I really, really don't like is the amount of information which is not readily available in-game and which must be gleaned from the forums or online guides.
The way I built my 1st hero (pre-forum reading) vs the way I built my second (post-forum reading) was marked. And of course the 2nd was much more effective.
Pre-suppression, for that brief time when having a travel power on would tank your accuracy, people I teamed with would be shocked at their poor accuracy (because they didnt read the forums and didnt know about the change).
The list goes on and on. Yes, Im glad they give me something to read [during breaks] at work, but the information should be readily available to all in game.
I dont want a leg up on someone because I read the web instead of smoking during breaks. My leg up there is that Ill live longer and thats good enough already. -
[ QUOTE ]
Are you suggesting there's something in that which is hypocritical or doesn't mesh with Risk-vs/Reward?
This game is filled with very powerful, but very situational attack and defense powers.
...and is the main reason why I find this 1% solution to be a stupid waste of time.
OK, GtG, thanks for indulging my bizarre views of PvP
[/ QUOTE ]
No, I am not suggesting there's something in what you said which is hypocritical or which doesn't mesh with Risk vs Reward.
There are many AT's / powersets that can create the correct situation for them to have a 1-shot kill, or now a very fast kill.
For me, the reason that I think the 1% solution is a waste of time was articulated in an earlier post where ChronoXIII said something along the lines of "how does this really help squishies? Energy Melee will still be able to hit a target, and kill them with an uneasy glance while the target is stunned.
Any combination of massive attack and quick follow up will effectively be a 1-shot kill. The fact that another attack needs to be triggered does not, IMHO, change the substance of the situation.
Forget about Stalkers for a second. How about a Fire/Dev TMing teleporter? You land in the TMs and 1 second later (after he hits Blaze with its 1 second activation time) you are dead. I think that is faster then you'll be able to eat green or react. Is that so much better then the TMs just killing you? Actually, in this specific case, since he will have more than 1 TM I guess he might not even need Blaze. In either case, Player B (the dead one) is probably just as peeved as before this fix.
So if the mechanics of the game are going to allow what is effectively insta-death, we might as well just get on with life. So to speak. -
[ QUOTE ]
Now if someone got 1-shotted by a Stalker who only had Hide going for him, no Stealth on top of it... or if "the meat" just stood around like an idiot after being Placated, then I could see how they earned themselves a rude suprise.
[/ QUOTE ]
So some 1-shot kills are ok and we just need to determine which ones fit the criteria for keeping? -
FYI, Echo Down the Aeons was recently discussed in this thread.
IMHO, for reasons articulated, I think that Egon = Aeon = Echo but I dont think necessarily that Echo needs to be considered to die a final death at the end of the arc could be more of a loop that he goes back through and then spins out of. Even Ubelmann (the one confirmed actual time traveler that I know of) was still alive at the end of his arc. In the hospital and dying fast, but still alive. -
[ QUOTE ]
I'm curious what your Ice Blasters secondary set is? Also, I think perhaps your constant breaking of LoS is a little over the top. With my Stalker, I find that an erratic moving opponent is usually enough to prevent me lining up an AS.
If you'll let me know what you secondary set is, I'll offer up the things that you could be doing differently that would make my life much more difficult.
[/ QUOTE ]
Chilling Embrace is from the Ice secondary, so its an Ice/Ice blaster under discussion.
I thought Chilling Embrace was an auto-hit, so am a little surprised that the auto spd and recharge doesn't interrupt the AS. Seems like everything up to and including a sneeze into a wet hanky interrupts mine.
If that doesnt work I guess Frozen Aura would work since its a Sleep but you need to be lvl 38 to take FA and.... it does have an accuracy check. If that's counted as an AoE check, then FA wont work very well against a Hidden Stalker.
Drop a lot of Ice Patches when / if you are not moving. -
I had started a new Stalker alt and was in Bloody Bay to run a few missions and get some exp. A Corruptor sees me doing this and asks me if I want to team up and run the missions faster.
I say ok and we stand still for a minute or two outside of a mission door discussing a few generalities. I know you never stop in a PvP zone and all that stuff but, really, there wasnt anyone else around
Suddenly a Defender swoops down from the sky and starts attacking the Corruptor, dropping the Corruptors health pretty fast. The Corruptor fights back a bit and starts squawking kill kill kill on the team channel. Hey, I had been in the middle of typing something, and Im a bit slow on the ole keyboard...
1 Build Up & Assassination Strike later, there was a dead Defender lying on the ground. I imagine it must have be rather startling for him.
That one sticks with me because I was (hidden) standing still right beside the Corruptor when the fighting started; the Defender must have thought he was zooming in to attack a lone villain. Surprise! -

He is around here a lot I find him to be a good dev wish ALL the devs were a bit more like him but the other devs are just as good since they are working hard making the game

And yet ironically some of the player base will roundly trash him, demand apologies from him, and phrase their posts to him in a very acidic manner.
It boggles my mind.

Props to you for addressing an unpleasant issue and hopefully putting it to utterly, completely, finally to bed forever.
You've done a lot of good work and youve been a great addition to the Dev postings in the CoX forums.
I sincerely hope that posts which contain language like the most disheartening developer post, lack of an apology, appalling absence of manners, does not excuse etc, etc, etc, do not reduce your spirits or wear you down.
I cant apologize for other posters, but unfortunately some people cannot let go of an issue even when the issue has been resolved to the satisfaction of the original problem. Unfortunately, there appear to exemplary, sainted people who have never, ever make even a single mistake walking among us and unfortunately those people dont seem to realize that other more ordinary, more mortal, actually human people can actually make a slip every now and then. Unfortunately events which are subject to interpretation are often taken in the most negative light possible. And unfortunately people can be a lot more acidic on message boards then they would be in real life. Things which should just be dropped arent.
Please do not let these goings on bring you down or change your posting habits in any way shape or form.
You and the good work you do is sincerely appreciated. -

How hard would it be to have a /showfury command like the /showfps 1 to make a counter show up at the top of the screen for those that are interested and want to see the number. I know when I am furiously trying to build it up, I don't have time to right click the fury bar if I want to see what the actual number is.
I do know I would do /showfury 1 all the time on my brute, I am rapidly becoming a SMASH junky. I protect my fury, not myself, not my team -- when I get caught up in it. Just a couple of mobs left, they will be fine - that dozen over there will keep my fury going... I will just go SMASH them!
[/ QUOTE ]
That is a great idea it provides a good solution for people that would actually like to see the number (me too pls!) while letting other people who might have different UI or display preferences enjoy the game the way they want to.
Super suggestion, which wouldnt seem to take a lot of programming. <-- oops dangerous assumption! -

Funny you mention that. The avatar I had for the longest time was this (though much smaller), and I would often get PMs from, well, let us say, "lonely people". This despite the fact that my user page clearly says my name is Brad. Of all the names for girls, "Brad" is not one of them.
I might bring back ol' Innuendo Girl there...actually, I think I will. The untold plushy Cthulhu joke is getting stale.
Umm, I suppose I should at least attempt to make this post on-topic. Let's see...I know! Let's have a (labeled) pic of ALL the devs, or at least as many as can be gathered in one place. Males, females, question marks...whatever. That's the one Christmas present I want. Come on Cryptic devs and NCSoft support people! Somebody get a camera and get a group photo!
EDIT: Hey, what the heck have they done to the avatars? That picture looked just fine when I had it before, and now it looks all blurred and stretched-out. Don't tell me they resize to 80x80 no matter what!
[/ QUOTE ]
I know that you know.... strike that, I *hope* that you know that I was talking about Innuendo Girl and not plushy Cthulhu.
Ah, back to the "normal" freekiness I see.
Heard the other day that on the internet GIRL stands for "Guy In Real Life",,,,, maybe people are getting confused and think BRAD means "But Really, A Dame"? I mean it's the 'net, mom's basement gets a bit lonely and before you know it, things drift to places they shouldn't..... -

Why are there so many Canadian Devs? I am Canadian, from Newfoundland, living in Houston Texas, so I am kinda curious. The marine industry brought about 30 of us to Houston but I never knew the gaming industry farmed in Canadians too?
