If so, well, I think we're done here frankly.
Because you're still getting other stuff? You're not getting nothing and just because you're not getting what you specifically want *now* doesn't mean you *can't*.

Is someone getting all the parts with 10 packs vs someone getting them over 100 fair? Well, it's not *unfair* because the guy with the 100 packs will have a slew of other great stuff too. I'd just say it's *unlucky*, but hey, I wasn't all that lucky last night so life is life.

Well the status quo isn't changing, is all I'm saying. You can complain all the live long day but in the end, what do you get? Stalkers had to go years being laughing stocks, got the butt end of proliferation practically every round, got skipped over for one of the newer cooler melee sets when it was released. What do those players get over the status quo? A change that minces what little difference the AT had with other melees? Hardly enough for all the other crap the AT waded through and little for the hardcore fan of how the AT played. I could complain, but then it's only for being unlucky that their issues took so long to be addressed.

You still have fun with it, and I very much like how the Super Packs are. Besides, unlocking one piece increases the chance of unlocking another.

    That's your problem.

All the other stuff in the packs are worth what you pay for it and the costume bits are a nice bit of incentive to unlock on your way to getting ATOs or what have you.

But then, I don't feel entitled to everything being released how I want it (again Celestial/Fire&Ice) so having some exclusivity in how things are obtained is basically keeping the status quo.

Why should you be able to just unlock costumes in a poof while others have to wait or spend a sizable wad of points (haha Celestial/Fire&Ice again)? Because you're VIP? Pfft, entitlement much? I bet a lot of Prems spend more on this game than I do currently as a VIP so share in the struggle to get cool stuff

PS: I like the Elemental Order set to (mainly just the belt and gloves) but see no difference in locking them in SPs vs locking other sets behind incarnate content which is itself locked behind being a VIP. I say, tuff cookies to you and the rest. At least SPs come with other stuff my lowbies can use.

Last time we got word on this, it was to the tune of "Adding more to Granite and Kheld forms is really, really damn hard." Because bare in mind you need to have an entire new model that doesn't break, and that can manage ALL the animations the other models do, if not more. That's not easy to do, as far as I know.
Of course it has to do with the User Interface, that's why it's taking so long and adding insult to injury, the more extra stuff they add the harder making an all encompassing UI gets. So, as time moves forward, more pools added, more options wanted, more staff join and leave Paragon Studios, it's not going to get easier, that's for sure...

Unless they discover a genius to hire that comes up with a solution that basically makes all that "It's hard! And it'll be a lot of work" talk into hogwash like what happened with Power Customization 0.5 (and not saying PC was easy, but the solution they used ended up being a lot less work than they initially explained)...We can only hope.

ALL costume in the Super Packs?! Uh....what? Just...what the hell are you smoking now?

And yeah, all costume options in the freaking gambling packs is the worst idea since Unique Dragon. EVER.
Well since one wouldn't be spending $ on the new PSOTM (powerset of the month), one has to make money somewhere. As is, I only buy costume pieces on a need-to basis anyway. Even if I see a piece I'd like to try in a costume, I can wait (Celestial and Fire&Ice?). It's only an issue for those with a selfish 'I want NAO!' attitude...even the 'must have everything' people really aren't a problem as they'd be buying the super packs for every extra goodie the market dishes out anyway.

    *Shakes finger at TA*

I'd suggest just embracing the Super Packs. I quite like them myself. I've been needing something to spend my extra points on besides costumes and powersets that's actually worth the expense.
  6. How about, as a level 50 reward, one gains access to full control of their power and therefore can limit themselves however and whenever they want?

Mainly talking about level. Would be fantastically heroic if I could, say, return myself to level 34 then go back to contacts I skipped over to get a chance to play them again...and if there's AVs in the arcs, be able to level shift myself up (maybe only to +4) so I can tear them apart to show just how awesome I am (rather than turning AVs off).

Not particularly. Even a player character is rather limited within the game environment but at least they can control their body, use emotes, sit down when they want to, *WALK* when they don't want to run, and use gifts that they were born with/perfected/learned/obtained in their life.

I'm pretty sure a coyote does more than run, jump, scratch itself and sit. Hell, even just some minute control of your actions would have been preferred.

Your counter-argument about the super packs, while noted, still don't hold water in my book. It's a delivery system that, by no means, is ineffective (because effective and desirable aren't the same thing). They can deliver a variety of different rewards as well as occasionally a one-oft costume unlock. Just because you *WANT* the costumes out of it doesn't mean that is what the devs intent was by adding such costumes to the table of Super Packs. Besides, the things you get from the gamble, none of them are undesirable and are all great prizes. The coyote travel power leaves much to be desired.

This round of power availabilty and the methods they have chosen to present them only continues my pessimism in that regard. The costume creator gives us enough. If we're lacking, THAT'S where they need to add it. NOT a powerset/travel power...

Again, I LOVE this game, but decisions like these will only hurt it on the long run.
I truly hope the devs step up and do something about this eventually. I hear, when people bring up long asked changes like pool/APP/PPP and Epic AT customization, it's always the same answer. Same with pet customization and the like. I really *really* hope they get their head in the game and make some use of all this money they're (probably) getting from the stuff they release.

-Coyote Travel Power (and dog vanity pets): a cheap way to help this power? Do the same thing as with the vet buff pets; you have an e-mail that you claim the pet, a prompt window pops up asking which one you want out of a list of various colors (brown, white, black, blue, green, yellow, orange, red...simple) and then you're granted a power that swaps your skeleton for one of the specified color. Asking for stealth now is probably out of the question as the power is already fast enough.

-Pets/Granite/Epic ATs: they really need to add, instead of customizable models, just alternate themes to add variety. If you can make a power activate a different effect just by use of some kind of 'mode' (see: Titan Weapon's Momentum), you should be able to 'perma' put someone in a different mode and call up alternate models when activating a certain power. Or they can just get on the ball and add it properly to the costume creator instead of trying a work around...but ya know, if doing that is taking years, maybe they should just buck up and use that work around...

-Pool Customization: You know? I don't give a crap about Staff Melee or even Darkness Control. I mean, yeah they're cool but...I haven't even gotten around to playing Street Justice or making a concept for Time Manipulation yet. I'd have rather the devs drop all these new set non-sense, added all the costumes to super packs (so you'd gamble for the costumes) and actually *FINISH* power customization. Because, on this time line, it'll never get done. Might as well never to expect pool customization at all unless you still plan to be playing 4+ years down the line...

...but then, I'm usually wrong about these kind of things so who knows...
  9. Namby pamby!?

And what the heck is wrong with Katana?
  10. Well, Shield Defense isn't about dodging. It makes perfect conceptual sense that a tough guy with a shield holds it up to protect his teammates. It *doesn't* make sense for a guy, who steps between his allies and the enemy to yell "Hey, I'm the guy you want! Pay no attention to the ones behind the curtain!" then roll away to dodge a hail of bullets.

Lol where do those bullets go? With Energy Aura, Ice Armor, Stone Armor and Shield, at least the bullets *hit* you only to bounce off into some random direction (with much of the force dissipated by the impact). Not saying I disagree with you, but technically I feel the person you were speaking with makes sense.

As for Invulnerability Stalkers, conceptually, I don't consider any particular AT as 'frail'. If I were writing a piece of fiction, just because a Master Mind deploys minions doesn't mean he'll fold like an envelope when he doesn't have pets huddled around him. That Mastermind is probably strong, powerful, smart, a combination of two or all of the above, which is *why* people follow him and dare not usurp him. Stalker's concept shouldn't hinge on them being defensively 'weak' (what kind of concept is that!?) but offensively 'smart'. Just like Brute is offensively 'dum-er...SMASH', Scrappers are offensively 'focused' and Tankers are offensively 'unfocused'.

Leave the meta-game number doo-dads to the game and the conceptual imagery to the player. If I want my Stalker to be able to take hits, get smashed through walls, get stomped by robots but still get out of the ashes and rubble with but a dusty shirt, that should be my decision...just like making a Tanker who catches bullets out of the air rather than letting himself get hit by them is a viable Tanker option.

  12. Just got back into playing my old defenders (so old, she didn't have inherent fitness or any vet reward power or customized powers). Solo'ed the arc on gray DOs at lvl 22 or something. (and we're talking about a weak Sonic/Psi build)

Ain't that hard to just run the arc, skip all the dialog, etc. It's a pain if you make it a pain. Just run it like you do any old farm map and have fun with it.

Note: On Lady Jane's mission, just skip over her spawn, fight to the box then go back to get her. You can outrun any ambushes that spawn by the door. Cake.
  13. Technically, Twilight Grasp is a PBAoE heal that you must have an enemy target selected to activate.

  15. Hmm...

Richter drank from the well first and in that instant, discovers the disadvantages of drawing power from it (kind of reflecting Primal Richter) so prohibits Cole from drinking it. Richter's new found power and knowledge causes a switch between the two; A righteous Richter who protects the earth from a Rikti invasion, and the bitter Cole.

Richter takes the place of Hero 1 on Omega Team, resulting in Hero 1 still being an active presence in this alternate dimension. As an incarnate, Richter doesn't die during the mission, instead of being taken over and made into a puppet, Richter becomes a kind of 'Rikti Recluse' by assimilating with the alternate-alternate universe Rikti, which he now rules! And he wants to bring peace across dimensions by assuring his home that the Rikti are no longer a threat.

Now you must stop a war... Hero 1 seeks to bring Richter back to his home, even by force, thinking it is purely the Rikti who control him. Cole, using 'other means' to recover after the war, seeks to simply destroy the Rikti, Richter and all, to protect the world from 'gods' like him. And Richter who says, despite his mutation and take over of the Rikti, must protect these alternate-world humans, but only you know the true secret...

That this is the origin of the Rikti. And if the proper progression is not maintained, a paradox of universal proportions may cause the destruction of the universe! To save the multi-verse, you must kill Richter who stands in the path of proper progression of the Rikti, kill all of 'Rikti Earth's' (that's what we'd call it) 'gods' and help the Rikti continue its take over.

Heh, it started out as a fun idea but it's kinda messy now
  16. I think this is how it should be.

Probably won't be happy until we've got so many sets for our ATs that practically all of them will be rare except the 'three' sets you see kinda all the time (because people are sheep and uncreative).

So any sets you don't see often, blame it on Street Justice, Super Strength, Titan Weapons, Invulnerability, Willpower, Fiery Aura, Plant Control, Earth Control, Fire Control, Fire Blast, Dual Pistols, Storm Summoning, Robotics, Necromancy, Kinetics, Cold Domination and Dark Miasma...

Hmm, that list is too long...we need more sets to dilute it.

But Super Strength isn't good, Rage is. And AFAIC, having 'rage' (in the thematic sense) has nothing to do with having Super Strength. And yet, Rage is what makes this set *good*...and that makes no sense to me.

It's not like Dark Melee or Kinetic Melee, where their self-buff makes conceptual sense in some fashion, dark absorbs strength from 'souls' or 'life-energy' or what have you and kinetic absorbs force/energy from the foes you hit (or that hit you, as their damage is sapped resulting in weaker attacks) and transfers it to your attacks.

Rage? That's for Brutes, and they get that inherently as Fury. There's other ways to conceptualize having Super Strength without needing to draw off endurance and survivability...it makes little sense.

As for me, I think the primary problem of some of the crashing nukes is that, they offer more of the same mitigation, often times more than is what's necessary.

So Power Surge will practically cap all your resistances but has a big crash at the end. Right, well, for some characters with only a 75% cap, a lot of the power goes to waste and even if you have a higher cap, some of it will still go to waste unless you decided to cut off all your other armor powers.

That said, I still take and use a lot of the crashing nukes (even Elude), but they don't provide the utility or mitigation they're meant to. I wouldn't mind the main +stat being adjusted downward is another different +stat were added to make the powers more attractive for mitigation. Heck, keep the crash. But it's pretty messed up that I'd sooner use Elude as a means to run Focused Accuracy (it's a concept decision. FA is slotted for +ToHit and a BU proc...he doesn't run it all the time if only for the illusion of a higher ceiling of capability outside of using incarnate powers...which he simply has unlocked but none crafted) than for the extra +def since he's soft capped...and even if he wasn't, he could just carry a few purples to jump in and out of 'god mode'.

I'd settle for a good deal of +debuff resist in exchange for a quarter or so of the +stat of a crashing godmode. That'd be a lot more applicable in a variety of fights.

The only thing for this 'most competent' Tanker to shoot for is being more competent than himself at its most effective state and under specific circumstances...at which point, you're probably a Mastermind or an Illusion controller.

But there's a disturbing trend I've noticed over the last couple of years, in which many long term players have violently turned on the game, picking out each and every flaw they can find, all while acting like they're acting in the game's best interests by acting hyper-critical towards it. I'm not saying that criticism of any kind is bad, and a real fan should never point out flaws, but I've begun to feel like the City of Heroes community has fallen into that paradigm of cynicism=intelligence that plagues so many other fandoms.

But at the end of the day, I still find myself really enjoying this game! I like the community, I like the story, I like the design. Could they all be better? Yes, but I've never felt like ignoring the good parts of the game could improve my overall experience in any way. Granted, the increased criticism towards this game has caused me to notice some of the weaker parts of this game and become more critical, but I feel like I'm expected to play this game almost maliciously, looking for flaws at every turn.

So what I guess I'm trying to ask here is, would I really be doing anyone a favor by hating this game? Because I can't really see any benefit of continuing to play a game I hate.
Don't hate the playa, hate the game....except in this case, hate the player because they're annoying and they won't shut up.
