Quote:No, Energy Aura has better defense than Ninjutsu, not worse. While psi damage is the sets weakness, it's the best possible hole for the AT to cover up. Simply defeat the psi user first and there usually isn't more than 2.
While its defense isn't much worse than Ninjutsu's, Ninjutsu gets a heal and powers that keep enemies from attacking
Quote:but it is only 3% per effected enemy, which is less than almost any other click heal in the game even if you can effect 30 enemies at once, making it a joke
Yeah, it's an issue to get 10 enemies for that heal but it also recharges in a minute (30sec when slotted) AND will pretty much fill your endurance too with just 3 foes in range (2 if you slot for it). Oh, and it can sap enemy endurance to nothing in 2 applications. More of a side effect tho but should still be considered.
Basically, it's not *THAT* bad. It's not wet-your-pants amazing (although, to me, it is) but it's definitely no joke.
Quote:But fine. I'll edit the sentence to say, "Energy Aura just isn't a good powerset for Stalkers." -

Quote:Yeah, that was one of my thoughts going in, I'd be able to cap smash/lethal defense relatively easy. But on the other hand, the other route has Rise of the Phoenix....seriously, RISE OF THE PHOENIX! That's just bad A with that alone.I'd go this route, and try and soft cap s/l def (also easier with Frozen Armor).
If I remember correctly Pistols has a PBAoE that would mesh pretty well with Fire. Plus the idea of Shooting someone then hitting them with a sword of fire would be pretty BA (however I noticed that you don't have either fire sword or fire sword cirlce listed above).
As for the swords, I chose not to use those because it cuts into the cool factor (shooting them then whipping out a sword). Now if I could hold a sword in one hand and a pistol in the other, that would *add* coolness, IMO. -
Okay, this isn't a question about Dual Pistols. It's about what I'm going to pair with it. But first, let me explain the characters' concept.
Basically, this character will be 2 demons of different elements each with an incantation to transform the other into a pair of pistols. So one will use the other to fire its element at a distance (that's where the special ammo of dual pistols comes in). While in pistol form, they can shoot their element far but while in their normal form they can only manifest their element close-ish ranged. With binds, it'll be easy to change costumes and ammo to show the change.
SooOOOooO, now we need to pick the element. If we had energy/electric bullets, this wouldn't be hard. I'd choose electric manipulation + fire/ice mastery. But since we only have 2 elemental ammos, we're stuck with fire and ice.
If I choose Fire manipulation, I'll have to pair it with Ice mastery and if I choose Ice manipulation I'll have to pair it with fire mastery. Of the powers within those sets, I could choose:
Fire manipulation: Ring of Fire, Combustion, Build up, Blazing Aura, Consume, Burn, Hot Feet
Ice mastery: Flash Freeze (I love sleeps when solo), Frozen Armor, Hoarfrost, Hibernate
Ice manipulation: Chilblain, Frozen Fists, Chilling Embrace, Build up, Ice Patch, Shiver, Freezing Touch, Frozen Aura
Fire mastery: Bonfire, Fire shield, Melt Armor, Rise of the Phoenix
Basically, I'm at a toss up. The only issue would be getting the character up to get the epic pool so I could actually use the power of the other demon. /fire would look alot more flashy and have more damage but /ice would be safer. I guess it comes down to the epic. Which is better? Any opinions would be lovely -

Quote:That would certainly be new as they can't currently animate attacks with a weapon that your hands aren't attached to a specific point on the object. I'm rooting for a scythe set myself. The Wall Of Facepalm adaquately described my experieces working retail.
Anyway, I really want a Greatsword power set. I'm talking about zweihänder, zanbatō, ōdachi, and other very large cutting utensils. I'm envisioning a set full of high-damage, high-Endurance attacks, most of which are cones or PBAoEs.
A polearm set would also be nice.
Would 'revamp' be considered 'more'? Saying 'more revamp' doesn't really make sense but I'd like them to revisit NPC stats.
It's unfair that there is such an abundance of smashing/lethal resists among enemy mobs. You can say 'but it's easier to get armor to protect against it than anything else', well I still say that's crap. Sure, if you have thick armor like crey then it makes sense but longbow?
My thought, if you have armor, you shouldn't be resistant but normal vs smashing and lethal. If you *don't* have armor, you should be weak to smashing and lethal. So all those family, outcasts, tsoo and whomever just wearing normal non-armor clothes should be taking more damage when they get shot or take a 200lb mace to the head.
Same for defense types. It's a pain that positional defense is considered for nearly every attack except things like mind control but typed defense is not. Also, it makes no sense that a mental blast, aimed at your brain, can be dodged like a bullet. To even use a mental blast you have to feel out someone's mind to aim it (and it'll follow you no matter where you hide). So certain mental attacks shouldn't be positionally typed (the ones aimed at your mind like psi dart, mental blast, psi lance and subdue) and attacks not typed should be (thinking of a lot of debuffs like Siphon Speed, etc). -
Quote:That is one ugly pistol.Ok just a quick one but are we going to get multiple pistol options?
And if yes, can we please have a Mauser C96 option?
PLEASE!
Thankyou In Advance. -
Quote:Really, I think it's why so many refuse to play stalkers too. They think, walking into the AT that it's just a ganker one-trick pony and so brush it aside. This is one of the exact reasons many people simply REFUSED to team with stalkers for the longest time in this game.
The only real complaint I feel that has merit amonst those that cannot play stalkers among the melee ATs (talking about those that will play Scrappers and Brutes, not the MM/troller only aficionados) is that they aren't survivable enough. And while that may be true, it's not so glaring a hole that it can't be overcome simply with an adjustment to playstyle. Basically, they don't want to play smart. They want to play stupid. And that's fine. I enjoy mindless smash every now and then but it's not the AT isn't survivable enough but some players can't (or won't) cope to a little strategy. -
I'm a fan of DM/WP myself. Him and my Elec/Regen are more team builds as they have tactics that are better played in that environment. The Regen, although I've slacked on getting his build better, is more about +rech and pumping out AoE and dropping the heals to keep him upright.
The WP is a vengeance wh*re. He tries to die (although it's harder than it sounds with capped HP, defense to stack with -ToHit and a healing attack to stack with some +res) so the team can use vengeance on him but also so he can pop Resurgence often enough. Not to mention he has vengeance himself. A nice little trick he is capable of is, before or after a team wipe, Resurgence > Veng > Assault > SoW. With that plus the couple of IO bonuses for +dmg, he's walking around with Build Up for 90sec...until he actually uses Build up, then he's got double BU damage on top of being untouchable and resilient as f***
Every time I read his titles (The Wrathful, Undying and Deathless), it brings a smile to my face how simply delicious his concept is -
In contrast with Magik's post, I ask you this: What else do you want to take?
On my DB/Nin, I took all the attacks because, frankly, what *else* am I suppose to take!? Fitness? Yeah, I have the entire pool, what of it? For her, I'm thinking 'why not take them all? now you have the option to use any of the combos'. But if you're trying to fit in extra powers that are a becoming a pain to all fit in, you may want to assess what combos you're not using and look into cutting those out.
On my EM/EA, I 'literally' am full out on all 5 pool choices. EA can provide a loose build, so much so that I took fighting in place of fitness. If you have the power choices free, why not pick what you want? Having all the combos isn't a *bad* thing and you don't have to use them all the time just because they're there. -
I was thinking a Duality demon under contract by a certain other villain of mine. So a blaster who is either DP/fire with cryo rounds(probably only taking the fire auras, immobilize, burn and combustion from fire manipulation) or DP/Ice with incendiary rounds (taking pretty much all the ice manipulation powers but ice sword). Concept being it's 2 demons, one that holds the pistols and the other *is* the pistols.
...I might just make 2. Or, with dual builds for epic choices, aura selection, toggle management and costume change binds, may be able to roll that into one character that can switch who's holding the pistols and who's the guns....but I *might* want to make one a female demon so that would mess that up...
...hell, maybe I'll just make them both female! -

You see that picture I posted? (Not even talking about the dragon embroidered on the back)Yeah, that robe isn't available. I should know, I wear such a style robe on certain occasions. What we have isn't even similar.

Quote:Well it might be as long as the old Flares if you didn't decide to speed it up so the flares upward occur *as* you raise your hands. That sounds like it would take... a while. And I can't agree with anything that involves taking the old "Boo! Are you scared?" stance, on basic principle.
And I find a "Boo! Are you scared?" stance would be fitting if you have a huge body-engulfing flame rising to the tip of your fingers. It'd certainly scare me -
Quote:Leg and chest holsters with guns.A cool skin for the Katana? Or for the other weapons?
A "throw a smoke bomb at the floor" costume change emote?
Rocket belts that animate like the rocket boots?
Fancier "utility belts", with tech or magic looking stuff hanging off them?
Gloves and boots with dagger sheathes?
A big ol' Axe like Infernal strapped to your back.
Headband options *with* choosable hair.
An *actual* kung fu suit like this:
...particularly the sleeves.
And just wishful thinking here but a "Suppress all effects" self toggle that makes any self buff powers appear invisible in PvE. I'd love this for my natural Spines stalker. -
Quote:If I were designing the animation for Flares, I'd have to say take the old stance (you standing straight up like you're going to do jumping jacks) and as you do that, a flare originating at your feet blazes up and swirls quickly around you as it moves up toward your hands. Then you thrust your hands forward (or just bring then down) and a wave of flames reaches toward the enemy. Extra points if the target gets the same 'flare from feet' effect as it receives the DoT.Actually, what is the reason for our ranged sets to be so generally boring in terms of animations?
If Flares had an animation that made the toon stand up straight, sweep his hand down in front of him, leaving 4 balls of flame floating in the air which then would seek out their target like magic missiles, I'd probably use only that power for a good while!
A lot of our sets could use some prettying up! Heck...that's why I love Lightning Rod!
But yeah, I'd like more flash in the blast sets too. I actually think Radiation Blast is quite awesome looking (it even looks like water when you color it blue!) with the variations (ball from your hand, eye beam, self radiation wave, forward radiation wave, radiation beach ball, pew pew pew, etc). Need more sets with that kinda variety...
...but don't change Archery! Those don't need flash. One looks quite slick firing off those arrows and leaving the enemy full of wood (yes I realize how that sound).
And can I PLEASE get a anime 'Beam' blast? Like Dragon Ball Z? Stick it in Energy Blast or something... -
Quote:For what he said rep was for (gauging the overall worth of a poster's contributions), it certainly doesn't and if it's suppose to it's broken. But I was wrong and the rep system is 'working as intended'.Ummm...how does that prove BillZ wrong? He was expressing his opinion of how he viewed the system, not how others had to. No, there is no official correlation between the two. That doesn't preclude an unofficial one.
Well I'm not wrong today! It's a *game*, no more a symbol of net worth than rumors someone spreads behind your back. -
Quote:Well, it's not like I disagreed with the OP's thoughts. It was kinda like going "What do you say?" as I hold the icecream cone for my nephew as he's reaching and grabbing and going "mine mine mine!" He'll stop and say "May I please have my ice cream?" or "Thank you for the ice cream." and then I hand it to him and say "You're welcome."Ah yes. The City of boards are so much more civilized than other games' forums.
Why, no one would ever come down on someone here for offering a negative opinion based on available information. Nope. We're all civilized, open minded folks here, who certainly don't make assumptions that everything will be awesome based on a flashy preview. And we're not at all blind dev fanbois and apologists.
Nope.
Never.
Not here.
Just good civilized open minded discussion.
I'm so glad that it's acceptable and even encouraged to offer up a differing opinion here without fear of the frothing herd blindly stampeding on you. It's refreshing.

Because when I read it, I thought of this thread...

HA! You were *WROOOONG* BillZ! W. R. O. N. G. WRROOOooOoOOOoNGGgg.... ggg.
No link between rep and level of worth of a poster!
Now give me some -rep, I want the cool looking red bubs. I think the status description for them is kinda cool too. -
Quote:Yup, and I hope their possible Electric Control set in the works is even *more* flashy!I actually did see the Rain of Bullets power, as well. It's completely stupid, completely out of place, and COMPLETELY AWESOME! WANT!!!
See, this is where I stand. Powers need to be cool. They may not always be realistic, they may not always be perfectly all-encompassing, and they may not even make a lick of sense. This isn't as important as their being really, really cool. Dual Handguns is that, in spades. Far as I'm concerned, I couldn't ask for more.
This gives me hope that, when and if they create a Scythe/Polearm melee set, it will be plain awesome with smooth animation work. -

How about we get a Cheese Pizza? It's Pizza, and while it may not have the toppings everyone wants, it doesn't have any toppings that people DON'T want or can't have... and everyone still gets to have pizza.
And if you want some off the wall topping like M&Ms or marshmallows, then tough. -
Quote:WRONG!!!WHo DOES NOT want a fancy gun set? I have been looking forward to dual pistols forever, Thinking that they would be an expanded version of the mastermind pistols powers. Then I saw the video with the preview on it. It looks like the devs saw Equilibrium, and figured, "hey lets make that!" I mean, out of all the characters in literary history who use pistols, the devs had to go and choose the look the most specific and least adaptable?
Granted, "vanilla" animations arent as fancy, but they allow for a MUCH larger range of characters. THis is actually why i prefer alot of the older less fancy costume options as well. I dont want a Gun-fu pistol set. I want a set that I can use as a mercenary... or as a cowboy... or as a 19th century gentleman hero... or as a grimfaced antihero of the 80's.
The differnt ammo types are great. Have always loved the concept, and Im really glad they went with it. But the animations? No thanks. Why is this so hard to do in MMO's. Its not a terribly hard concept. If i have a gun set, i really only want one thing from it: to shoot. I realize that it might be a bit boring, but if i wanted something fancy, I would have picked a fancy set.
I also realize its a little early to make a rant thread... But those animations looked pretty finalized, and you dont just scrap months worth of work at the drop of a hat.
Honestly, there is very little reason left for me to even consider buying going rogue. I dont care about demon summoning. The rest is a graphics upgrade that I might not be even able to use, and some new storylines.
The correct answer was:
"Suggestions and Ideas forum--
Title: Am I the Only one...
Thread: ...that the new pistols don't fit the concept for? The animations are cool and fancy but my character isn't from the Equilibrium universe. Would it be asking too much for alternate animations that are more direct and less acrobatic?"
IMO, tho, the animations seem pretty spot on for about anyone. If the animations were more basic, how in the world is a guy with 2 pistols suppose to hit 18+ foes that are standing in various positions around him within 3/4 seconds?
Although even I'll admit, the dove flying might be a bit much for some. -
Quote:Kinda balanced by being Mind/ dom.Just be aware that the rather squishy Dom is going to be taking a lot of aggro compared to the Stalker. That is the main reason I stopped doing such duos a long time ago.
I think there's some synergy with the dom and stalker choosen. With Ninjutsu, they can debuff the enemy's ToHit and possibly sleep/confuse them without alerting them thanks to Blinding Powder. The dom can throw out sleeps and confuse without alerting the enemy as well.
So there pretty won't be an alpha strike. -
Quote:Couldn't you ask your peeps to use some slots on another server? They're bound to be running out of slots too.But all my peeps are on this server! Why should I have to leave my peeps?
Please, think of the peeps!
Or scarier yet, those peeps probably play on other servers when they're not around you! -
Maybe I missed it but where or when was it said you could switch ammo on the fly? The only thing regarding the ammo I saw in the video said you choose your ammo type upon character creation. Did they say something about a "Switch ammo" button? If that is so, how would the secondary effects be handled? Would you be able to slot for the -def effect (if it exists for the lethal rounds)? And what about the defense debuff procs or any other procs/IOs for other secondary effects like the cryo round's slow.
