Domination is built by the secondary as well. No Dom should have trouble building it.

So what you're saying is since Illusion doesn't work with Containment or provide much Overpower bonus, there's no point to take in on a controller either?

Illusion doesn't work with Overpower or Containment either, so what's your point? The point of the set is, you get some moderate control through misdirection and a crap ton of damage. That's the price the set pays for not working directly well with inherent powers.

For Stalkers, where there's fire, there's smoke (or the other way around). You can't see through smoke. Besides that, why have Electrical Armor? Bright flashes of lightning draw even more attention.

Considering I wanted a rather redraw-lite secondary but still wanted to do damage, I found /Fire to have a good deal of synergy with DP/. I only took the immobilize, the 2 auras, burn and consume with mine on test and I enjoyed the tactical abilities of it.

-DP attacks have rather long animations so being able to do extra dmg during those animations via dmg auras as well as slowing them and keeping them either close enough for AoEs or far enough so they don't punch you in the face seems like a viable choice.
-Put on cryo rounds and they're slowed even further.
-Burn for those times you want to keep those bosses at bay while plinking at them or reverse it and immobilize them and drop burn on them while plinking at them.

It's not the most ideal combo as mez will drop the auras, consume is quite 'meh' and it has no mez to stack with suppressive fire but I think it accents the PBAoE nuke the best.

So the world is inhabited by lifeforms that are sustained by anti-energy rather than energy and may possibly look freakish or demonic in our eyes because of it. The very act of us stepping into this place should be akin to accelerated death as every action you'd take (up to simply existing in that place) expends energy and with no energy to replace it, you'd end up a barren husk.

But stepping away from the polearms, the idea of a chain whip would be great and now that we're getting a fire-whip variant, that means it's not out of the realm of possibility.

The possibility to make a high tech futuristic Simon Belmont with a laser whip and devices intrigues me.

Hehe, you don't play dominators much, huh?

But like the others have said, you'll need a plan B to deal with the AV once PToD pop up. I think the only mez that PToD doesn't resist is immobilize and sleep...but I could be wrong.

The first attack is your Yuri just snapped into 3 sections. The chain whip is another weapon in your arsonal, as well as the Tonfas.
Multiple weapons provide an extreme hurdle when considering customization. You can't customize 3 different weapons like that.

Secondly, why? Why even have more than one weapon? Is it that hard to create enough powers for the one Yuri?

Thirdly, Meditation has *nothing* to do with draining others of their spirit. It doesn't really even fit with the concept of the set. Maybe if meditation was an endurance discount for a time, that'd make sense but the way you describe, no. If I can't propose a 'Blood Spear' or 'Death Scythe' set without getting flack for such varied concepts, you can't either

And finally, what's with the chinese weapons all of a sudden? You see a kung fu weapons exhibition or something? While I love using chinese fighting style weapons myself, it'd be far more accurate to focus on *one* weapon and it's movements than trying to cram as many in one set to make the 'Uber Coolz Wushu Set' you're proposing.

You're talking about a raging brawler powerset whose fundamentals are the complete abandonment of subtlety in favour of the immediate applkication of raw force beign set to an archetype whose sole defining trait is the use of subtle tactics. The only way to make this work is satirically.
You, sir, have no idea what you're talking about.
  10. Solo, Ice/ and Sonic/ give a good deal of survivability with Energy/ being up there as well. /Devices for those instances you know it's going to get rocky.

Teams, /Ice definitely. You won't be dishing out all that much extra dmg, but at least you can keep sh** off your back. I wish they'd release, another secondary that was 'mitigation' focused so there were more choices.

Well that's easily solved. Make Electric Control and *DON'T* give it to Controllers. Problem solved.

PS: Some sets have multiple pairings. Katana is thematically close to Ninjutsu and Super Reflexes, Storm Summoning can be linked with Ice blast Elec blast and Ice control, Ice control can be linked with Storm Summoning and Cold domination.

While some sets are primarily linked to only one thing, that doesn't mean every other set must. This also means there are less non-paired sets than you think.

Technically, wouldn't that be playing to 50 to advance the 'story' and abilities of a specific character, then? If Khelds were always unlocked at 20, would this player completely forego the concept of their character and his story and just reroll the character? Or would they actually complete the character's story up until the point they join with a Kheld and the re-experience the character?

But really, either way, it's win-win. If the concept of the character was originally to be a Kheld, now it's easier to facilitate that concept.

But the tail has spines on it which I don't think many gargoyles have and her wings look fragile and unwieldly where Demona's wings can be draped over her shoulders like a cloak.

If someone can suddenly get the same reward that took you 150 hours of game-playing to earn in only 30 hours game-playing, it's irritating because you (or at least I) want to know that your (my) time was well-spent and not just thrown away. Again, that's not the best example for a game, but it still works if you think about it.
Do players play and get to lvl 50 *just* to play Khelds? I was under the impression you'd want to play a character to 50 to have fun, develop the character and play out said character's 'story', not for some unrelated perk at the end of the road. And if you *did* play to lvl 50 so you can play the EATs, don't you think the devs would catch on that that's the wrong reason to play to lvl 50?

But IMO, I think lvl 20 is rather a shallow goal to unlock them. Why not a TF in the 20-30 range that has to do with something involving the Khelds? It'd make a lot more sense than just an arbitrary level.

    Semi-serious?

    Silly?!

You guys are ridiculous if you think proliferating Super Strength to Scrapper and Stalker is silly.

As for Je_s evaluation, it's only relevant if you figure the devs can only proliferate straight or that a set will remain identical. No, the devs are free to alter power orders, numbers and overal effects within a set when proliferating from one AT to the next.

    Example:
-The entire Claws set. All the Brute numbers are different from the Scrapper numbers. Eviscerate on Brute has -def, Eviscerate on Stalkers is Single Target.
-Energy Melee. Energy Transfer does not crit like normal attacks, instead only forgoes the self-damage when it does.
-Fire Melee. Replaces Combustion with Cremate.
-Dual Blades. None of the combos on Stalker are the same as the other melees. Ablating is a pseudo-PBAoE attack that completes the Sweep combo in an auto-hit area attack if the basic attack lands.

So all those numbers you threw out there, useful when pondering why the devs haven't already proliferated this set (because it's not a simple port). However, it proves nothing on the position that SS cannot be proliferated. I will admit, I'm not sure how they will eventually get around to it but I hope they get to it without replacing too many powers.

To port the set, it may be 'overpowered' to have Rage as it is now. But that hasn't stopped the devs from changing Rage before. It could be a similar boost as Build up but slightly longer. Or perhaps using new tech to make rage only a 10sec dmg buff but a 'perma' boost to crit chance. And for Stalkers, simply adjust the numbers on the attacks and make Rage into Build up. Also, I can already tell you, SS would lose Hand Clap for Assassin's Strike. That's exactly what they did with Elec Melee dropping Thunder Clap.

As for Stalkers not getting it because of thematic reasons; That reason could fly for Shield Defense (the thematic representation within *this* game may prohibit that set but not the concept of ducking behind a shield so oh well) but *DOES NOT* for Super Strength. The set is about hitting stuff hard. That's what a Stalker does. End of discussion. And if Scrappers can request SS with a straight face despite them being the similar finesse style combatant as a Stalker, then there is no reason to call someone requesting the same set for Stalkers 'silly' or 'not serious'. I'm dead serious.
  17. Ah, yes. Fist of Annihilation is what it's called. I rarely ever play my 20something MA/Nin stalker anymore >_> She uses both AS animations tho.

It'd be so ridiculously awesome, it's frightening! All they have to do is replace Hand Clap with Assassin's FALcon PUNCH with an alternate animation of Assassin's Skull Squisher (basically, Hand Clap but with an 'Ahz openin' mah arms ta hug ya' animation) and the set is complete.

Personally, I think the funnies part is smacking a guy with a hunk of rock out of nowhere. It'd never get old, I'm telling you!

Meh, I say pick up a Safeguard mission and compare it to a Mayhem mission:

-You die, one has to break out of a fortified jail and the other is practically dropped right where they left off
-One has the enemies ganging up on you while the other has you conveniently fighting down hordes of enemies *after* you complete your objectives and *only* when you decide to go *looking* for them
-The heroes a'comin' even after beating you down.

And that's just some of the stuff that makes the mission harder. Villains also get to blow up cars and stuff which never gets old.

Okay, so long as we're moving in the right direction with the discussion. The OP and thread title says 'extra powers in primary/secondary' not 'just offensive sets'. I'm just trying to help drive the discussion.

Control sets in general (particularly Controllers) would benefit from some attack powers, similar to Lift or Propel.
Adding attacks to control sets (particularly, conventional attacks like lift and propel) doesn't help dominators at all. If they were non-conventional attacks (like maybe Carrion Creepers or some kind of upgrade to pets) might be a better direction.
  22. You completely skipped the other issue I mentioned.

What do you add to Super Reflexes? Adding more defense/resist or regen/heal alters the effectiveness all the other powers in the set and completely changes the balance of the set as a whole.

What do you add to Force Fields? Or Control Sets, for that matter.

The idea may work for attack sets (because adding more attacks doesn't necessarily boost the damage of the entire set) but how does this work for every other type of set?

Personally, I'm hoping they'll finally decide to animate a quadrupedal skeleton.
    I'd actually echo that.

Also, I'd like alternate animations for everything, pools and all. That sort of multiplies the work of both desires though. More alternate animations for more quadruped models, etc.

Those two and polearm weapon sets. And not just a 'polearm' set with different weapon customizations. I think a spear set is quite a bit different from a poleaxe which is also different from a scythe which are all completely different from a staff.
  24. Basically a request for tier 10+ powers. Yes, I've heard it before and actually still get behind it to a degree. I've always wanted a ranged katana air shockwave-slash attack for my kat/SR (like Focus From Claws) and a ST 'charged claw uppercut' attack on my Elec/Regen to round out his single target attacks.

The place I think would be the problem is adding extra powers to defensive and buff sets. Usually they're balanced with all the powers of the set in mind. Meaning, whatever the set is capable of is primarily what they adjust to. So what would they do for those sets? What could they add to SRs that wouldn't break its balance?
