Wouldn't prove or disprove anything really. Any planned team ends up benefiting from synergies far more than any weaknesses inherent in the fact that the powersets are outliers.

Short Answer: 8 of anything in this game is awesome, if the people are reasonably competent.

Point being, you can't simply compare powers in a vacuum without taking into account the rest of the set. You might be able to make the case that Regen's self rez could stand for a little buff to help you from being killed during the animation... but even so, it's still useful if you're not solo (i.e. someone else to take the aggro), or the enemies aren't within aggro range.
    Stole my post. 100% agreed.

Or... you know, make friends with people who play at the same time you do. I refuse to accept that any server is so low population that you cannot find people to play with on a regular basis, if you use the tools available. Just because you can't find random people PuGs at all hours, doesn't mean the server is unplayable.

Besides, to answer your original question:

Why do I have to buy Going Rogue in Europe?
Because when it comes out, chances are that is where most of the people still on the EU servers will be making new characters, or playing old characters. Isn't that kind of obvious to anyone else?

You can't transfer characters in WoW from one account to another that doesn't have matching contact information. I think, but I'm not sure, that there is some unalterable contact information, so that limits the ability to match accounts in order to transfer "illegally" (against EULA).

They used to charge fifty ($50.00, FIFTY). I did it once (a server-to-server transfer, not account-to-account) when they charged fifty, and I was crying.
In a kind of sideways way, you've hit on the reason they don't do it here. In WoW, they don't technically transfer, they scan the old character and their possessions, and then create a new matching character on the new account/server. Their GMs have the tools to do so, our's don't.

In the end, creating software tools for outlier situations like this isn't cost effective with our smaller player base. In WoW, they use those same tools to help replace characters lost to hacked accounts or other scams.

True, but a note of warning:
Some players find the fight with Nosferatu very tricky, even as an Elite Boss- Hand with Care.

Mender Tesseract's is a good one for villains. I enjoyed it.

I think you misunderstood me. Blueside has a couple of factors that make it easier (Empaths, Stone Tanks, Regen Scrappers are all pretty common). Given those factors, a Red side raid can be easier, but since they're not generally present, it's often not (you have to get nukes to have a similar buff, and the most common flavors of Brute don't work the same way a Regen Scrapper does on Yellows).

I suppose when you get right down to it, my preference for Red has nothing to do with anything except my personal preferences.
  8. Here are some of the basic principles to think about when picking a character to solo:

    1) Downtime- the best soloing builds have little to no downtime between fights. It helps to have powers that don't cost much endurance when fighting (masterminds), or abilities that give better than normal regeneration and recovery (even moreso than Fitness usually).

    2) Mitigation- You have to have a way to mitigate the incoming damage. Either protective toggles, a heal, debuffs, or controls that stop the damage before it happens.

    3) Mezzes- the best soloists have ways to cope with being mezzed. Built in protections, abilities that make getting mezzed irrelevant, or just remembering to carry breakfrees most of the time.

    4) Development- To have a more satisfying soloing experience, it's better to pick at least one powerset that develops important tools early. It's needlessly hard picking sets that don't get key abilities until the 20s or higher.

    5) Kill Speed- Dealing high amounts of damage, or consistent damage to several foes at once are both ways to get through foes quickly.

There are a ton of good choices that fit those criteria, and I'm not going to get into specific recommendations unless you ask. You have some 50s already and can look at powersets to find options that fit those guidelines. The obvious and easy choices lie in ATs like Masterminds, Brutes, and Scrappers, but there good choices in EVERY AT.

Since you have an eye for AV soloing, you'd do well to pick something with high single target damage, or the ability to debuff regeneration rates, as those are the two most common ways to cope with an AV when solo.

I'd sooner bring Empaths to Red side and fight in the Abyss, since I like the zone a lot more. Except for the lack of a quick AoE regeneration buff, villains raids are easier to run.

also remember to have someone with team tp for each team to get everyone back to cliff for the "respawn time" and re-buff time
I find it's far easier and more reliable for people to learn the timing and get out on their own, or send someone with Summon Teammates off behind a rock and pull the team out.

It's next to impossible to keep your team within 30' during the nucleus beatdown, and line up your exit path and make the 2-4 jumps fast enough to keep from dropping anyone.

I've seen people do it, in fact I did it myself, but that doesn't mean I think it's the best way.

Apart from being one character different from a copyrighted character you mean.

Anyway, I won't pretend I'm in position to judge, and I don't think anyone here should try to do the same with one side of the story.

    What your boyfriend can do:
-Check his account and make sure his email address is current.
-Check his junk mail and see if the offical email went missing.
-Register on the support site so he can get access to the support tickets for his account and submit any additional information.
-Get in touch with support referencing the ticket of the name change. Don't rant. Don't argue. Explain that you feel the name change wasn't justified and you'd like the matter escalated to a Senior GM.
    - Explain the situation, stay level headed, and don't have a screaming fit, and chances are he can get the changed reversed.

The fanbase of CoH is decent in terms of being a profitable MMO but might as well be nonexistent in Hollywood terms. Interview 100 random folks and the odds will be extremely high that none of them have heard of CoH. Contrast that to WoW that has millions of fans. I could see Uwe Boll hired on to do a WoW movie.

In terms of story, the CoH canon is certainly pretty rich as a game world setting but nothing special in terms of creating a screenplay. I just fail to see why anyone would consider a CoH movie a potentially profitable venture.
My thinking is, it's been hard enough to get people in the seats for comic titles that have big budgets and recognizable names attached, even when they're known properties. A CoH movie has things in it's favor, but also a lot of things against it when it comes to getting a movie made.

Frankly, in the next 1-4 years, we're due for a glut of comic movies, and one about a property that only a couple hundred thousand gamers know in any detail will almost definitely NOT get the Money People to pay to make it, much less get people in the seats.

I can think of at least a half dozen movies coming in the next few years that will trump anything they could come up with for CoH, and that's just off the top of my head.

Now, a CoH TV series that consciously avoids anything and everything that Heroes has done to alienate its fans over the last few years...
  15. And to be clear, to run multiple instances, you need multiple accounts. Can't login the same account more than once at the same time, unless you're loading one copy of Test, and one of Live.
  16. The only time I've ever heard of them resolving this kind of issue is if the person bought the code directly from the online store. Even then, that was a long time ago, and I've heard far more often that they can't help.

We were the first to do it on Live. I guess we haven't wanted to face the sophomore slump.
  18. Also note there is an Oceanic Lounge for players in your part of the world. I'm not saying you can only post there, just that you'd have a good chance of encountering people in the same time zones as you.

I plan on being a villian, so I can murder innocents. Just to relieve stress and all that
Just to touch on this. If you're thinking this is how things will go down, I'm sorry to disappoint you. Be ready to wrap your head around the fact that most of the villainy in this game revolves around 'no honor among thieves' and 'a little fish in a big pond getting bigger'

There are missions where you get to corrupt innocents or lead them to their doom, but you can't just head around town blasting civilians. This is about a society based on forwarding some ultimately evil goals, but most of that means following the commands of people who are much more powerful than you are.

Even in Mayhem Missions which take you to the Hero City to rob and pillage, your goals are more oriented to property destruction and theft than killing.

All that being said, there are some good player made story arcs that have the chance to beat up civilians. I made one myself. The Freaklympics has a mission devoted to overloading the Hospital system by wiping out a neighborhood as quickly as you can. Once you're advanced to about level 30 or so, I'd recommend getting a few friends and giving it a run. It will be even better once Issue 16 hits.
  21. Have I mentioned that I find it exciting when you say stuff like that? Not sexually or anything weird, just... *shrug*

It's like a really big hit in football.
