Quote:Council have access to Martial Arts, lord knows I've died at the hands of LTs and Bosses often enough thanks to a Thunder Kick or two. From watching a number of skirmishes I'd say minions having access to martial arts and rocket launchers gives them the edge.
The former gives them powerful melee-range attacks that the Council have no equivalent to. The latter provides a far more effective knockdown than shotgun blasts (and only higher-ranking Council get their hands on grenades if I remember correctly.)
Martial arts and a rapid-fire rocket launcher are also the powers used by the newer '5th Column Krieger' bosses (who have the decency to wear sensible pants ^_^.)
The difference maker (besides and level spawn variance) may be that more 5th have the MA stuff than the Council guys, who tend to favor AR style attacks which are generally slower DoT dmg. -
I've never run the mission and not have to go around and kill everything, and not seen multiple open spawns run for the gate. I've soloed, duo'd and trio'd this more times than I care to count, and there may have been once (and only once) where we succeeded and still had spawns on the board (though I could easily be misremembering a failure)

You will have everything you left except maybe one exception below, and anything you leave on the market for more than 60 days. You will have all the vet rewards you already have, but won't gain more time for the time you are gone.
The one exception would be IF all the following happen:
You're gone for more than 90 days
You have characters under level 5
They decide to do a name purge
IF all three of those things happen, you may have some character names that become Unreserved. If someone decides to claim one of those open names, you lose it. If not, they become your's again when you pay. However name purges aren't common and are always announced ahead of time.
Make sure your account info is up to date before everything is cancelled. Make sure the email is up to date, make sure you write down all passwords in case you might forget while you're gone, and everything should be fine.
Hope the job search goes well and we see you back again soon. -
That's not really a debate you want to get rolling on. You asked your question, got an answer, and should leave it at that. It's a US company, and follows US laws in terms of moderation on the US servers.

Quote:When I say thinker, I'm not talking about a challenge I'm talking about paying attention to what you're told. Clearly stated and obvious facts that should trigger basic (not advanced) problem solving techniques. In terms of challenges this one is at most a speed bump. If you're not prepared to exert the minimum attention span required, I fail to see how that's the fault of the game in any way shape or form.Well, now, here I go and get caught up doing exactly what I said I wouldn't (debating). I, personally, don't see exploring=thinking, sorry. If, for example, I were having difficulty beating an EB and had to come up with different strategies to be victorious (something that has already happened multiple times), that, to me, is putting on the ol' thinking cap. Also a mission that has some kind of puzzle (many MMOs have some sort of lever pulling thing for this), sure, a challenge that requires some thought. However, getting a mission that says "find an underground location" and you have to search for such a location is, in my mind, a lazy way to create a "challenge" in the game - to me, it's like calling it a challenge to go from one end of the map to another. I was pretty ticked off when I originally posted (had just been sent to the hospital while searching), so that's my bad, but I stick by my main point that "explorer" missions are crap. It's just my opinion, but I'm clearly not alone.

Not bored. Been having fun with the enhanced settings and seeing how much different characters can take on.

Quote:That's happened to me more often than I've had the disguise available. It's given the mission before the tunnels, which is a pretty long one. Then also it's an hour from when it's given, not an hour of use, so if you take a break or stop playing for the day, it's gone when you get back. How on earth did you run out of disguise time before you got this mission?
I don't fault vinque for losing access to the power. Freaking out because the waypoint is a little unreliable and you're not willing to take a look around the zone is another matter. -
Quote:How is this by any definition 'sudden'? If you're running normal content, you have exposure to Hunt missions that have even less information to go on than this. If you're reading the mission dialog it's pretty clear these missions are underground. It's not so much that this rewards people who love exploring, it that it punishes those who don't. Those missions are normal "go to the door and beat people up" missions, complete with a marker on the map.
The problem is that, up to this point, you're entirely used to finding missions by just walking in a more or less direct line towards the mission marker, and if that doesn't work, you look around the immediate vicinity for a bit until you find the entrance. The tunnels, however, begin at points a fair bit away from the direct line to the marker. If you don't know about the marker, chances are, you might just not find the tunnels.
I wasted an hour on this, too. True, once you DO know where the tunnels start, this is not a problem anymore, but it can be really frustrating your first time in Faultline.
To reiterate, rewarding explorers is one thing, but punishing those who are not is a whole different thing altogether. If you like exploring, you can get your explorer badges. In fact, Faultline even has its own super secret room for explorer-types to find. It's just that when you have a normal mission, making exploration suddenly necessary when it wasn't before just isn't quite considerate for those that aren't explorer-types, now is it?
Quote:Investigate excavation sites
Briefing
We have located the 3 sites where Arachnos believes the PsychoChronoMetron may have come to rest. All three sites are close to the forward Arachnos base, and each site is already being excavated. We may be out of time. I need you to investigate those locations, and if necessary, that base.
The PCM might have ended up anywhere during the chaos of the Faultline Incident. It seems too coincidental that it would end up so close to Arachnos. Confidentially, I almost hope that they've fooled us, and this is a ploy to see how much we know. But I don't think that's likely. Concern yourself with investigating those bases, and if necessary, the Arachnos Forward base. Neutralize all Arachnos troops within each dig to disrupt any further excavations, but if it comes to it you'll only need to confirm the presence or absence of the PCM at the forward base.
I love all the things this game does to make things easier for people but it amounts to handholding, and you cannot blame the game for an occasional lapse that requires you to engage your thinker. If you're going to go so far into hyperbole as to call this punishment, then it might be better to play in the AE where you never have to look hard for the door. -
Technically speaking the costume is for all four missions in those areas. It would be nice if they told you that, but it's not a necessity.

Quote:You do understand that someone had to do it on their own in the first place, right? It's not the game's fault you're not an Explorer type, but you shouldn't get pissed when they put in some things that reward that type of player. Instead of getting pissed (and frankly whining) just take this as a lesson about yourself, calm down, and in the future, learn to look before you leap.I'm sorry, the joke is this mission. I'm actually thinking (if I ever get to it) it might be good, but the start is HORRIBLE. I finally found the tunnels thanks to all the help here, but there's almost no way I would have found it on my own, especially with the "help" of the map (which was leading me nowhere near where I needed to go).
I know this is going to offend the hardcore fans of the game, but this is the kind of crap that makes games worthless. I'm new to the game (and really want to like it), have used tons of resources available to me, tried to do things on my own and yet finding the start of this mission was incredibly difficult. That's ridiculous. I would have understood if I had trouble completing the mission because it was challenging, but, 'hey, go find this place and I'm going to do everything I can to lead you in the wrong direction' is pure crap.
If you have trouble finding something, ask before you get pissed. Most servers have active Global channels for badge hunting, TFs, and general chatter (on Pinnacle it's Pinnbadges. You're welcome to join even if you don't play on Pinn, we're rowdy but generally don't bite). Those channels are full of people willing to answer questions. Failing that, depending on your server, the Help Channel can be useful on my server it's dead but on others its helpful. -
I would not mind them speaking bits of chatter, like other environmental NPCs. However I don't want them narrating every mission. That would be a ridiculous amount of work, and something that most people would end up wanting to skip or block, like cutscenes.
I think my goal in posting this suggestion was to come up with interesting ways to make the game more vibrant, without weighing down gameplay. Just like it's great seeing some of the fun bits of commentary in the NPC chatter channel, it would be fun to be flying along and hear a civilian cheer or scream in terror. I'm hoping people will find out there are cool reasons to turn their volume back up instead of playing silently and listening to other things. -
My Mace/Shield Brute is a ton of fun. Here's hoping the lack of Fury doesn't bum you out too much Damage Wise. However Against all Odds and Build Up should give you a decent leg up over other Tanker combos. I recommend making sure to slot end reduction in your attacks, since Mace can be a bit end heavy.
Mace does a great job capturing a very similar feel to what you're looking for in Shield Charge. WHAM CRAK THWOMP! heavy sounds and heavy feeling impacts. Fun Stuff. -
Quote:As of I16 there is a third requirement. For at least one Day Job Badge, there is a level requirement before it will be granted. You can earn credit, but you won't get the badge. This is the Vanguard base Day Job, and it prevents people from earning Vanguard Merits before 35.There are only 2 requirements to earning Day Job badges:
1) The toon must be logged out (duh)
2) The toon must be logged out in a Day Job badge location
Other than that, it just depends on WHAT DJ badge you want. Most are obvious thematically, but check out ParagonWiki.com or Badge-Hunter.com for more specific information. Best of luck! -

Probably won't happen for the same reason they don't make Grapples or Throws. What happens when my 8 ft Inv/SS Tanker head butts a 3ft Clockwork? What happens when my 4ft MA Scrapper head buts a Cimeroran?
There are certain kinds of strikes and moves that can't work because there's no hit location system in this game to control how animations end up looking. -
Increasing the drop rates will not do much. Increasing rates doesn't address that players aren't putting their commons on the market. There's a breakdown in the pipeline. I've deleted over 60 commons in the last 2 days instead of shlepping to the market to sell. It's like the old days when we got TOs in the mix with SOs and DOs. They weren't worth carrying to the NPCs to sell. Same holds true today. If I spend tickets on rolls and get 4 Masterworks before I get the Alchemical silver I want, or my salvage fills before I get what I want, I'm not about to break off and go sell. They get deleted. Same if I'm in a mission, team or not.
The solution, if there is one would be to come up with a new way to feed things into the market. Come up with tracking data on what gets sold to NPCs (I'll sell commons to NPCs before I waste time posting them on the market, for time's sake, and I don't think I'm alone in that). From there have a script that posts a percentage of those on the market.
Of course, that instantly kills all incentive to flip or gouge, but on the downside it eliminates some potential to use the market for reasonable moneymaking.
Of course, all of this is predicated on determining if there really is a "problem" in need of a solution. -
Actually it does have an effect. When the store is down, any empty slots beyond the initial 12, become unavailable until the store comes back up. I've had this happen numerous times when we were testing it on Training Room. It should reappear when the store comes back, and if it doesn't then is the time to petition.

Quote:The two are mutually exclusive. They removed pathing and allowed stacking because they weren't going to get around to fixing base raiding anytime soon. They've specifically said it was a stopgap. If you want one, be prepared to lose the other.Hey now, they fixed pathing for bases. Though by fixed i mean "removed".
...
Still, the Devs did add stacking of base objects and the like.
...
Even if the Cathedral never gets remade it would be fun to eventually bring back base raids.
Yeah, i guess bases could still use some attention. -
Quote:I think your thread is lacklustre and could do with a bit of a revamp.I just think the badges are a bit lacklustre and could do with a bit of a revamp.
In other words, it is completely USELESS to post for the devs and say fix it! do more! make it better! That's not feedback, it's demands.
Tell them what you like, tell them what you don't like. Be Specific and detailed. -
Quote:If/until they disallow the -1 setting from Master runs, this will sadly not be the case. I find the coolness of the badges lessened by the fact there's no way to know if someone did it on Easy mode or not.I think the future of badges for bragging rights mostly lies in things more like the Master Of... series, if this issue is any indication.

Quote:If I'm disregarding what you say, it's only because you're not paying close enough attention to what you've been told. You are under the mistaken impression that just engineering one pool and using the existing poses is somehow easier and therefore faster. No one has to be an expert to tell you that's wrong. We're not guessing. It's an obvious fact based on things we've been told.I suppose the issue Im having is the INSISTENCE that Im refering to multi pools. Its as if youre disregarding what i said altogether. Sure, working on ALL the pools will certainly take time, especially if they dont actually have alternate animations or colors (and colors is mad work). BUT since Im ONLY refering to flight, which HAS the animations done (and NO colors) - IF they go that angle (and release only FLIGHT poses for now) - I dont think it will be as much work as you suggest. (Which is a redundant statement considering.)
Its as if you are just 'defending' the devs with guesses/assumptions for something that isnt an attack in the first place.
Now regardless of how easy/difficult it'd be to add the FLIGHT poses ONLY, would they - I guess not, but all Im saying is that it seems silly not too IF infact its easy(ier).
The main task for allowing pools to be customized is an engineering one. That means if you do it for Flight you do it for all pools. That has very little to do with BaB and the FX crew. You keep harping that just doing Flight would be easier, just like before we had PC, people kept harping that just doing a few sets would be easy, and therefore should be done.
That's not how it works. Easy in terms of programming is a very different thing. In the world, it is easier just to chop enough wood for a fire tonight than it is to chop for the entire winter. In programming, it's often easier to revamp a system from the ground up, or make a batch addition that covers a lot of ground, than it is to go in and tweak a thing or two.
On top of that, you seem to confuse Easy with Taking the least time. Just doing the Flight Pool may be less man hours now, but they're man hours that would just have to be repeated when they go back and do all the other pools. The systems are interlinked, and doing a partial conversion isn't really an option. -
On a platform overlooking the main plaza. You will see a lot of guards on the stairs leading up to him.
