Not if you're gonna bail on your Strike Force team to go party like you did. :P

You're playing a Dark, and you had trouble? A Dark??
No. Sorry. Just no. -
Quote:Alright, that's a much better explanation of how it was done, and a picture that is more believable to boot.oooo, so close! You got it backwards. The correct answer is to kick the tanker and have him immediately invited to another team of Group Flyers. That can be accomplished in maybe a second.
I have a screenshot, but someone said they were capturing the video and would get it up on YouTube.
My issue with the other shot was there was no one near the Tanker, and it was taken by someone not on his team. I wasn't about to fiddle with perspective ingame to try and prove/disprove whether it was faked.
While your pic has no HUD, it at least shows a bunch of peeps with GFly and you give a realistic description of how to get it done.
Best evidence of all would be a shot from the tank himself or someone on his team, showing the buffs stacked on the guy in Granite. That's the best way to shut down skepticism. -
Quote:They are called Fortunata Fateweaver and you should check the settings for your map in the lower right corner, because they still show up on mine.I've been in the hospital and am thinking a bit slowly.
Where are the red side Fateweaversthat change your settings (-1,+6,no AV, etc.). They seem to have disappeared off of my maps.
Thanks for any help.
There is one in every main villain zone. Mercy under the clock, Port Oakes by the arena, Cap in the main plaza of Aeon City, Sharkhead by the ferry, Nerva by the Black Helicopter, St Martial in front of the Golden Giza, and Grandville near the trainer. -
Quote:No confusion whatsoever on the OP's part. Read the details of the strategy for the trial. Your job is to clear the tentacles, then attack the head. The only one confusing it with Lusca is you.I think you're combining two entities -- Lusca and the Hydra (from the Abandoned Sewer Trial). Lusca is the giant squid monster that spawns in Independance Port, where you have to take out each tentacle separately before being able to defeat the head. I don't recall any 'XP glitch', but if it ever existed, it does not currently.
The Abandoned Sewer Trial is a Trial where the final monster is the "Head of the Hydra".
Check out the Wiki entries I've linked above for more details.
The xp glitch the OP is talking about has to do with the Hydra Hatchlings that are in the area around the head. They gave a disproportionate amount of xp back in the day, and people used to run the trial a lot to get through the last few levels (of course this is back before the last few levels were 45-50). -
Quote:Take any entrance to the regular sewers. Turn right immediately after you enter and look for a door in the entry area. Take it. Voila you're in the Abandoned Sewers.Question: I remember back in the day, 2004-2005'ish there used to be the giant monster (squid with tentacles) and you had to knock out each tentacle. There also was a huge bonus XP glitch that would give you tons of XP when he died which as I understand, they nerfed that out.
So, with that being said, I'm just perusing through these tunnels with my 50 and forgot where the sewer entrance was to get there? I think it was in Steel but not sure. I was going to go and just check it out, heck, maybe even take a few pics for nostalgia..lol. So any direction to get there would be helpful.
The entrance for the Abandoned sewer trial is in the middle of the sewers. You can still run the trial starting in Atlas Park. -
Quote:Great story. Epic Post.Hi,
well with regards to squishy Defenders, I have just last night levelled my first Emp/Electric to 50.
I soloed the mish "Defeat Infernus and the Summoning Portal", a mish of all CoT.
I reached the last room and took down the guards so there was only me and the EB, eyeball to eyeball.
My xp bar was 99.9%.
We went at it and after a full on battle he bit the dust. I immediately levelled to the magic 50 and spat on the corpse.
I turned on my heals and with a huge grin on my face marched my "Squishy" the entire length of the (my!) map. It was a "leave by the front entrance" moment.
I will never forget the reaching 50 on my Defender, it is one of my gaming high spots
Go for it OP, persevere and all shall be yours
Cheers -
Quote:The effect lingers for what, under 10 seconds? I really don't see it as practical to drop and invite 3 additional people in that amount of time, and then the Tanker have more than a moment to get off the ground.Group Fly's buff sticks to the player for a few seconds after they leave the area of effect, so maybe they had some extra players on standby and quickly swapped out teammates before the effect expired.
Possible? Theoretically. Practical and probable? No. -
This is a predictable response and it turns my tongue to be the one saying it, but pics or it didn't happen.

Quote:You only have the mission because someone on the team logged out or disconnected, not quit.I'll second this, and with an empath/elec at that. Sure, she's not an AV killer (not yet anyway until after a second build respec, but it's certainly doable), yet she has completed many an arc solo as well as playing with teams. I believe the true test of any character, even an empath defender, is their capability to hold their own.
And speaking of missions that won't drop... I was on an ITF last night that went to the final battle against Rommy and a couple players dropped out along the way. Somehow I ended up with the star I didn't want. The rest of us just didn't have enough damage potential despite several concerted efforts by us to try to take him down. And now I'm stuck with the last leg of the ITF that I can't drop! So, I'm guessing that I'll later have to form a team and run this last leg just to clear it. Ironically, my scrapper reached 50th level on this mission set.
You may have the star, but it's not a normal mission. You can't add more peeps, you can quit the team though. -
Quote:It depends on the powersets you pick, and your style of play. Don't try to generalize for Defenders (or any AT for that matter) because I mow through different foes on different characters, regardless of AT.Something else to keep in mind is that you are playing a defender. Remeber, attacks are a defenders secondary power... it's not their strength. As you advance in levels you'll encounter many more enemy types that you won't be able to hold a candle against as a defender... CoT and Lost are just the start of what's going to be a painful road if you aren't teaming.

Mission Drop Feature
In short, contact support again, form a team, or run it at -1. Don't get frustrated at the GM, if you're not communicating well keep your head and ask to be escalated. -
Quote:I got no issues. The game has been woefully underpromoted for a long time now. It's not about telling peeps that are already subbed and letting them use word of mouth, it's about putting the data out there and getting ex or non players to start thinking about playing./this.
Edit: Seriously, the way this is going, why have an official site any more? We can just go to MMORPG, and Twit, and IGN, and CNN, maybe Blogger, Facebook, Myspace.... It's like actually announcing things on the official site, where I'd *expect* to see news, announcements and t he like, is a completely alien concept.
I'm half expecting to have to download I17 from Gamespy or something. -

Quote:Why do either of those things, when done by people who are in no way obligated to play with you, make you mad?I am simply proposing a series of very enticing and desired rewards you can acquire simply by teaming.Whether it be accolades,or badges,or something that the players have been dying to have in-game.I think this method might see people teaming more, and not doing one of the following..
1)Hang out at Pocket D
2)..or ask for more time to complete a mission before they join your team. That does suck so much, and it makes me mad. It's as though they think that you are going to wait on them,as well as the team too.
You don't think you should have to wait for them, but how is that any different than the unreasonable expectation that they instantly drop what they're doing to join you? You get to my name on the search list, decide to send me a tell, and I should feel grateful and drop the mission I've been working on for half an hour to join? I don't think so.
Teaming doesn't need incentives. You need an attitude adjustment. Even in a game, if you want to relate to other people, you have to have realistic expectations, and communicate effectively. If you can't accept that, all the incentives in the world won't help you.
PS- if you're going to propose something, you should actually propose it, in detail, instead of focusing on the negative. Vague suggestions don't help the devs or anyone else understand what you'd like to see and how you think it would make the game better. -
Quote:Blessed Scroll of Remove Curse ftw. Clean it all off and use it again! This reminds me a little of the "bones" feature in Nethack. Sometimes when a Nethack character dies, the next one will find his corpse on the appropriate dungeon level. You have to fight your previous self's ghost to get his stuff, and it's all cursed, but still.

You guys make me chuckle.
I did a little more thinking on this today, and some thoughts I'd like to see:
A drag and drop interface for power selection, that works like re-ordering characters on the Select Screen. Powers on the right, available spots on the left. Powers you're too low level for are gray, but apart from that, powers you can take can be dragged, dropped, and re-ordered as you like.
3 tab interface like the Character Creator- Powers, Slots, Enhancers Allow people to jump back and forth as they choose (why? see below)
A level Slider- Set your level and (so you can see the number!), and set up the interface such that you can see what powers you have available at that level (delineate between picked and exemplar bonus powers) along with accurate values for Enhancement Scaling. This lets you get an idea of how you'll perform at that level. Additionally have an info screen that accounts for your IO bonuses.
Basically I think a lot of the interface changes we've seen in the last couple of years would really serve the Enhancer/Respec screens quite well.
PS- also allow us to chat while respeccing! kthxbai. -
Quote:Correct. In addition, they don't spawn unreliably, they spawn on a schedule like clockwork. It helps a lot if you have a few people on your team, but they're always there. In particular, they're downright easy to find them during the Halloween event.1 place to relaibly find them redside, which is a PvP zone.
1 place to relaibly find them blue side, which is a PvP zone.
2 places to unreliably find them blue side.
I find this exceptionally rare.
Badges changes aren't about making every badge easy. They're about making the badges that are unduly hard better. -
So basically you're trying to claim credit for an idea they've already told us they're working on for Going Rogue?
-
I see now my idea is too self obviously awesome to spur any sort of discussion. In order to spice things up, everyone should assume I want to have the servers merged and only allow these new respecs to be claimed in the Storm Palace.
-
Quote:You've clearly never played a Plant Dominator, or a Thug/Dark MM.On a good team (or even an awesome solo character) you can run to the Smash and Grab location and trip all the alarms at the same time. It's like getting an entire mission's worth of foes coming straight to you. How can you beat that?
-
Quote:But you get halfway decent merits solely based on the time equation, and that is artificially inflated because of the dead time. I don't think rewarding players for the poorly designed trial is the way to go.Funny, some friends and I were talking about this the other night - about how irritating the villain respec trial (and the unlockable contact tied to it) are, and how nice, generally, the hero respec is - especially since you can't speed it, and you get halfway decent merits for it as well.
Though I'd agree, on *both* sides, about having something different to do for each trial.
Here's my solution- Turn all the doors into something like Side Missions. Cut the total number of waves to 8 (one for each door). Defeat the wave, get the key. Go in the door, complete a small map similar to the Radar Station missions in the Hess TF, and the next wave spawns. The wave will spawn on it's own, but your team can choose to speed things up if they want. At the very least completing the Side will give them something to do. -
Save and Load costumes
Save and Load MA files
Save and Load customized powers
Save and Load Chat Settings
Save and Load Windows
Save and Load Options
Save and Load Keybinds
What's next? I hope beyond hope that in the near future the respec/power choice system gets revamped to add this function.
As it stands, a respec doesn't poll the server until you've completed everything, so there doesn't seem to be anything in the way of letting us load in a configured file instead of picking every power and slot.
As super as that would be, it could be even better. A configuration that checks your enhancers and pre slots any and all you have already, and an easy to edit text format that could make for easy porting into character building apps like Mids or Suckerpunch's.
Here's hoping this can be done sometime in the next year. -
Quote:You have it very backwards. The reason I've stayed with this game longer than any other is that I can build the powers I want without having how I choose to look effect my abilities.
The one thing this game is missing that is common in most other MMORPGs are items ( i.e. rings, belts, necklaces, etc. ) We have the generic concept of an "enhancement", not exactly something that would inspire a new player to stick with the game. Lets face it, people like "stuff".
