Quote:Thing is, you're assuming none of this has occured to anyone before. When invasions were in testing, we were very vocal about all kinds of changes and QoL adjustments and most of them got implemented. In this case, this one wasn't. It could have been missed by oversight, but it's unlikely. Chances are they've just determined the gains aren't enough to worry over. No, not really.
I shouldn't actually be surprised.
I guess this is why people who actaully have small ideas that might actually make a little but nice QoL change give up and stop posting.
It's either so big that it gets labeled as game breaking, or so small that its not worth the time. Or simply a silly/troll idea anyway.
However that doesn't mean you need to get bothered and turn it into 'big forum meanies are mean' when people point that out to you.
Now, if you want to come up with a more compelling argument than "lowbies suffer" feel free. If there's a real necessity, I'm sure the devs will listen. -
Quote:Not really any difference. One kind adds to survivability by killing stuff, the others increase your survivability by well, increasing survivability. There is a big difference between auto'ing your attack powers and auto'ing hasten, PB, dull pain (and I imagine there are other powers)
You may not think it's an exploit if your character can do it, but what about if they allow people to do it your way and someone dual boxes? Robo Tank sits there taunting and firing off click powers that keep him alive against large groups, and a Blaster sits next to him Autofiring Hasten and his Nuke.
There's lots of ways to make things seriously broken with a little effort. Having auto for one power is a nice convenience. Having it for more leads to troubles a lot like what happens in games with extensive macro systems that lead to long strings of repeating actions. -
Quote:Before CoV and Stalkers that could (and did) gain extensive levels just by clicking glowies for the xp they gave, or even free inf, Glowies used to be a nice little bonus. I'm not saying it's the Stalker's fault, just that an existing problem became far more prevalent with their advent. Was it ever determined WHY those glowies exist? Did the devs put them in there specifically to make us all ask, "Why are these glowies here?"
Since then we've seen a series of changes to the mechanic to essentially nerf the glowie into oblivion.
- Removal of almost all rewards (there are a few times they still give some inf in some missions, and Safeguard/Mayhems still have their reward glowies)
- Stealth Suppression
- Changing the standard mission goals so that defeating the foes in the room is required in addition.
Could they revisit things and put some rewards back in now that we have different goals and suppression? I'd think so, but then again it's hard to come up with an equitable system that would prevent glowie envy (because that was I'm sure one background reason they nerfed them as well. People used to get uptight about "losing" things they felt belonged to them when on a team).
Random Thought- I think they could code each type of glowie object to award a Common Salvage to everyone on the team, based on a choice list for the mission creator. Common Salvage wouldn't break the bank I should think, especially if they use the Invisible Clue system that locks out completed side missions from being reset (to prevent someone from running a mission ad nauseum just for the glowies). -
Quote:If such were the case, we wouldn't have to deal with:No, it doesn't. Trust me, I rail against this argument all the time at work.
Now that the issue has been brought to the forefront, I will try to get any groups I lead to gather away from the higher traffic areas. Like I said, it'll take just a few like-minded people working together to make this change.
"EBs won't spawn with your Stealth power on noob!"
"Don't click the glowies they make the reactor harder (said in a serious way)"
"TFs used to spawn at the level of the team, I hate that they changed them to the TF cap"
"the New Hami Raid takes too long, and is boring"
etc etc
Social Inertia isn't so easy to overcome as you think. -
On it's face, I like this idea. However I'm going to play Devil's Advocate on you Bill and let you come up with some answers to things that occured to me. (I tried to answer them myself, but can't really).
1) Market Consequences- what you're proposing instantly negates both the desire to buy/use regular IOs, and the incentive to market them if you're crafting a bunch. This kills the prices for IOs and spikes the demand for Salvage. While the market on Commons has been pretty weak lately, I can easily see this driving them upward to the point they're more expensive than rares.
2) Use and ReUse- would these be slottable then removable during respec? Because what you've made is another class of enhancers you can only remove 10 at a time if you want to save them or sell them. That seems to tighten up an existing bottleneck when it comes to needing more respecs and/or not having these enhancers drop out of circulation.
3) Crappy set bonuses- Right now, lower level or early generation sets tend to have really crappy bonuses but are still useful for frankenslotting. What your idea seems to do is marginalize those sets even further.
I'm not trying to kill your idea for the sake of killing it. I'm just not sure it can be implemented in a completely open fashion without doing damage to what we have. Let's see if we can solve those problems. -

Quote:Point of clarification, you only see those changes when you're both members of the same global channel(s) and online at the same time.
I've noticed over the past several months that many players don't realize that everybody sees changes to the globalname. -
My solution to the Emptiness:
Don't rely on Search or Broadcast alone to find your teams. (people hide from search a lot).
When you team with people you like, GLOBAL Friend them. (keep track of them instead of just hoping to find someone each time you play)
Join an active Global channel for your server. No matter where you go, you will have people to talk to.
Find an active supergroup, helps accomplish the same thing.
I never feel lonely, and I only use part of those options. They work. Use what you've been given instead of asking for something that is just going to piss a lot of people off. -
Bummer that you're tired, because it just got extended a week.

Quote:It's one reason, not the only one.Wait, wait, sorry but, the hell?
WHY is PvP being used as a reason that this isn't getting ported?
Now, I dunno what PvP is like over the pond, but EU side it...isn't. Just isn't.
If PvP is limiting any power prolif or new ideas, then that's just fail beyond all belief. -
Spontaneous banner stomping in non prime times isn't likely on many servers. Just like a lot of things, this event works better if you're in an active global channel where people are going after this sort of thing.

If you have enough people in a zone to attack all banners at once, then sure go for it. However most of the time, you're going to see 1-3 teams, and in that case it's far easier to move one banner at a time.

Open options. Scroll down on the General Tab. Find the buttons for saving and loading windows and Chat settings.

Quote:You forgot to invite yourself to your SG :PMost of what you describe, I do in the tutorial.
After the tutorial, I now:
Set my SSK settings to +50, -25
Grab my other account, transfer 1 mil inf and a set of Halloween salvage
Hit the base
Turn in the salvage
Hit the low level costume shop
Log off (start working on that day job)
I load the files as Cat described, then I use /cleartray after claiming vet powers. From there, I open my powers window and set up my powers as I like. I find it smoother for me than move this, delete that, find the other powers I claimed, etc. -
Quote:To clarify, you need to fight defenders at all banners at once to make them vulnerable. After they are vulnerable, if people remain distributed, that means lowering your chances to get all badges in one run. It's far better to get everyone to one banner then the next, then the next, etc. When the vulnerability bar is almost full, the teams should use broadcast to agree on where to gather.Right, so the event needs coordinated attacks across all banners at the same time? Well, there go my efforts to contribute. Let's hope someone is recruiting next time that happens.
It's very frustrating when teams show up and kill a banner they "need" without consideration for any other teams in the zone. That's the one good way to grief the event. -
Quote:Not really.
is it just me or has the zombie raids become more . . . . . epic? -

Quote:That's exactly why it was done that way. Castle has said so himself. As it stands, MMs often don't have a lot of things to do in the midst of combat, and END isn't much of a problem. Having an end hog upgrade power changes that, and means you have to make a strategic choice about whether to upgrade or not.
In the midst of battle it's just an end hog.
It may bother you, but it's working the way it's supposed to, and its less annoying than the alternative. -
It's not about money. It's about playing and being part of the community. They can't control how often and how you play, but they can reward you after the time you've been active on the assumption that you did play.
-
There are plenty of non bank missions that send you against the PPD. If you don't play red side much, that may be why you haven't seen them. You can run the Freaklympics arc in my sig and you will see plenty.

Quote:Disagree strongly. You use the word 'activity' but I think you mean 'anonymity' Sure you can pick a more populated server and get all the easy PuGs you like. Does that count as better? Only if you don't care about who you're playing with. However there are plenty of people playing on Pinnacle if you make a teeny tiny bit of effort to get connected to them. Join Global channels, use your friendlist, get in a supergroup. You'll have all the activity you can handle. Don't diss a server just because it doesn't have the kind of brain dead gaming you prefer.
If you want activity on the servers, get off pinnacle. It is the equivalent of the smallest of small towns. -
- You should not shout "Rock me Arbiter Daos" when you run through the lobby of Arachnos Tower.
- Picking a Patron is totally a loaded question with no good answer

Quote:There's still a lot to do with a 50, never fear. The xp curve smoothing generally means there's still a lot of things you never got a chance to do while leveling. While you could choose to do them on a new alt, you can just as easily choose to use your 50.je_saist, thank you for your extremely helpful post. I'm not in any rush to get to 50, and I consider myself to be a casual gamer. My girlfriend and I are both full-time students and we don't play too often. I always focus on the journey and not the destination, it just worries me that after we reach that end-point that the only thing to do is make a new character and do it again. Every other MMO I've played, most players almost exclusively use their high-level characters to progress in content the developers have created and made available for them. They continue to earn things for their characters to make them better and further them in progression.
I really do like the character creation in this game, and the fact that I can be whatever I want to be. It is really a very cool concept, and the developers have really done a great job on making it a reality. I am going to continue with my "main" (since I've already made 14 characters, none of them getting past level 12, because I come up with a different hero concept and start all over) to 50 and just go from there.
My advice to you is to "do what you want" The new rules for being an exemplar make it even easier to level down and still feel powerful, and have a good time even without the entire array of your powers. While you're doing that you can still earn drops and cash to use to improve your character.
I spend a mix of my time on characters of all levels. Some nights I take a lowbie, some nights I take a 50. The beauty of it is, you get choices. Don't think for a moment having your 50 will somehow limit your options.
