No, because KK is objectively not that good an actress, and Smallville isn't what I'd call a "wildly successful" show, in an objective sense. Sure the "network of the year" it runs on has kept it around for a long time, but that's not because it's awesome, more because everything else they had was pretty much unmitigated crap.

    City Scoop

FW is correct. We made an effort to come up with a solution that worked on the new forums, those didn't pan out. Others tried to come up with various offsite systems, but none of us had the available time in order to make it happen.

Our mantra at the Scoop was always that Real Life came first. We all love our work and time at the Scoop, but there's no reason to make other more important things suffer for it.

There's also the unfortunate fact that after the departure of Lighthouse and Ex Libris, a lot of our support from the staff dried up. No disrespect to our current community team (truly. I got nothing but love for them), but it became very hard to progress, when we weren't getting any feedback on the new forums and when they were coming and how they would work from a technical standpoint.

The Scoop will remain something I'm very proud to have been a part of. It may end up moving or being finally and completely shut down, but I ain't leaving the Newsroom ever. I have my own desk. I keep stuff in it.

It was my mastermind, 2 corruptors, and a brute at level 40 and took just under 2 hours (we skipped to the end on the last mission). That seems like an SF I can play on a weeknight, with work early the next morning. How are the others?

Thanks for any help you can provide. Prior to my post, I looked around on the forums and Paragonwiki for an answer, but I did not find one. If I missed an in-depth post that already answers my question, please point it out.

    Thanks!
All the Villain SFs (Except Lord Recluse) are designed to be approximately the same length. As for looking on Paragonwiki, the best way to look up what you seek is to look up each Strike Force, and count the # missions to get a rough idea.
  4. They had to disable the Pay_to system to enable free transfers. Ending Free Transfers means a return to the Pay system. They weren't "credits" they were just the number of free transfers you had available during free time.
  5. A) Wrong Section
    B) It's a game. A fun game, but not worth being prideful over. You dinged the counter when it was bigger, and now people will ding the counter when it's smaller, in the grand scheme, so what?

Well, I kinda want to start playing this game again. If someone could help me out with this... It would be 15 bonus days each!
    PM me your email address.
  7. You have to be an active and aware Master. AI has very little I in it truth be told, and the common expectation people have with MMs is that they're largely fire and forget. Against certain foes and on teams, this is not true.

When I play my MM, I keep my minions in range with a liberal mix of Attack and Bodyguard mode commands. Ideally speaking, I rarely use the Attack command in the first half of the fight anyway, because if I'm solo or in the lead position on a team, I want the aggro on me, because BG mode is a much more effective way to keep myself and my minions on our feet.

    So basic formula:
1 Personally attack or debuff the enemies, so they're very mad at me.
2 Let my pets do their business while I keep debuffing or healing.
3 Once the initial wave is passed and several targets are dead or wounded, I switch.
4 Tap my BG mode button again to reel all my guys in
5 Then pick a target and tell them to attack (typically I go from weakest to strongest target). Repeat 4-5 until the spawn is gone.

This can change against certain foes. Enemies with AoE attacks that scatter my guys, or debuffs that I need to move everyone out of get special treatment. I've also become keenly aware of which enemies are likely to run, and when. If I'm in BG mode of my specific target runs, I reel my guys in before one can chase them. Like I said, it pays to be an active and aware leader of your guys.

Of course, the higher level you get, the more likely you are to WANT that runner to pull in another group or four. The right MM is a killing machine, and even spawned for 8, you can't get enemies fast enough.
  8. Again, someone is misrepresenting the situation. Saying that information is taxing to find, and saying that people won't be happy with the state of the game enough to pay, doesn't make it true, by any stretch.

This is a social game. People talk. Most of the chatter I've seen over the last few weeks in teams and channels has been about the stuff that just got here or is on it's way in the near future. People who come back to the game for a visit but can't be motivated enough to talk to the people who stayed, frankly deserve what they get. Which is false impressions of how things are.
  9. You should take a bit of time to read up on what Bone Marrow donation means, and then sit down and think about what it would mean to lose your uncle.

This is one of those things that defines us as a person and adult, how we face illness and death. It's time for you to step up and face it.

Talking is cool but on a question like "what happened in the last 2 years" all anyone would do for you is copy paste the same things you'd end up reading in the write ups.

If you took a look then came back and said, "wow I read about the Mission Architect and it sound cool! how has it been going?" then people could have a conversation about the good (and bad) stuff that's happened since it was introduced.

Talking is fun, but just telling you stuff is lecturing.

Here's the point of contention. We're pointing out that your team could have handled it better, evidenced by the fact that it has been done by others. You seem to think that it was impossible for you to succeed in the first place, and that's the fault of the game. We're not blaming your team. We're saying it is beatable, and not an unexpected or undue amount of challenge based on your team choices and settings.

People tried to say as much about about CO and STO before they were released and seem to have largely disappointed. Competition isn't "Stiff" until it's actually competing, and delivering on some of the promise and potential.

Are those games interesting and exciting? Sure. Are they competition? Not until they're actually doing what they say they want to do.

    i17 and hasten

Look at it this way. They said it was coming at the same time they said there may or may not be an issue 17. Considering the amount of artwork we know is coming in I17 and GR, the chances they managed to squeeze in something they've admitted is harder to do than regular power customization, is shall we say, slim to none?

    Nah lets just say none.

In most cases it's not the addition of any single feature, it's the aggregate. Picking one of the least shiny addition in I17 to minimize it's improvements doesn't really bolster your position.

Although I will say I've seen at least one person mention that being able to email Inf and Items is bringing them back.

Same holds true for the 2 sections the OP named. It's really a little ludicrous to expect developer presence in places where it's never been. Besides, given their history of lurking without posting, I don't see it as an issue.

One dev actually posted an Ask a Dev thread, and got 3 pages of questions with not one answer. Why ask a dev if there will be no answer.

Look through the other sections of this forum, go to the development section, answer the questions in ask a dev. That was just a slap in the face to tell us to ask you a question and never answer any of them.
You really don't think things through or pay attention to basic facts when you come up with this, do you?

Read the description of Player Questions. Have an epiphany on the meaning of words. Realize there have been under 20 developer posts in that section for a reason.

Look at the Training Room and Tech Issues sections. Realize there are a ton of competent people that make a habit of answering those questions you say players can't answer. Have an epiphany on what redundancy is.

Lastly, ask yourself: would I rather have devs working on this game, or writing posts about it?

PS- oh yeah, like others said, accept the fact that since there's a Closed Beta on, their attention may be a little focused on that than it is on people begging for more I17 or GR info. As I said above, better to get the job done before deadline than to explain it really well but never get it done.

Yes, we were running purples and reds. Why? Because we were capable of doing so. Yes, some people faceplanted a few times. I did a few times, when the Tuatha Bosses decided it was time to break out the good old homing trees. Thats all part and parcel of that difficulty, though. The Cyst spawn, however, broke that difficulty setting, to the point of multiple team wipes.

I understand some people enjoy that sort of 'ohgod' challenge. However, it should NOT be one forced on people who would rather not run at, as M1 said it, 'candy *** difficulty', simply because there is a Kheldian on the team.
So what you're asking for seems to be a dynamically adaptive difficulty system that specifically monitors what the players feel they're capable of, and gives them that.

Sorry, I know of no game that is that good at mind reading. I don't think you can blame the dev team for being bad coders when you set such an unrealistic standard.

Besides, a game that only gives me as much as I can handle all the time with no surprises doesn't sound very fun to me.

Fact: There are teams out there that can handle a cyst at this setting
Fact: The advanced difficulty settings are specifically stated to be "use at your own risk"
Fact: Kheldians spawn cysts. It's common knowledge. No one's saying not taking one on your team is necessary, but don't act shocked when you're asked to pay the price of having one there.

I really don't buy that this bump in difficulty was "unasked for" That's a pantload.

You're not spending money on noncombat pets. You're spending money on playing the game for years and having fun. The noncombat pet is EXTRA, and if it's an EXTRA you don't like, then here's a protip: Don't Use It.
  19. Dump people play at all levels. That is all.
  20. Sorry, but my bet is all those Essences are not from a single pop. Rikti Comm Officers are a ***** too, if you let the portal spawn it's full complement.
  21. Update, I just saw at least 3 people back for the weekend spontaneously say they were excited about I17 and considering re-upping either when it hits, or the end of this weekend.

So if I'm an out of touch fanboy, at least I'm an out of touch fanboy who's correct.
  22. I don't think this is as funny as it sounded in your head...

Not like that at all. There are free costume pieces as part of GR. There are bonus costume pieces for buying the expanded edition. 2 different things, and neither anything like getting a free Super Booster.

I forgot how bitter and entitled people who leave the game can get. Sue me.

If it's not worth paying for to you, don't pay. I've talked to several people back this weekend and when they asked (*gasp* who knew they could ASK about what's coming?!) they got interested and excited about I17.

Go ahead and downplay it all you want, but there's a laundry list of things in I17 people have been asking for for years. If it's not worth paying for to you, we won't miss you.

Why should they give away something for free when I17 is good enough that people will more than likely pay to see it?

Give a free weekend at a point that's a traditional low spot in player activity (right before a new issue), and let people realize there will soon be something worth paying for.
