There is actually a sign that you have captured a ghost successfully. Normally when the ghosts die, they kind of hang there in mid-air and disappear.
[/ QUOTE ]
You misunderstand. I don't want to know when a ghost counted, I am well aware of what happens after a successful capture already. I want to know when a ghost will count, so I know when to open fire without having to guess.
It's often tricky enough to lead a ghost to a trap, and the height of frustration when you hit him and he's only a couple of feet farther from trap radius than you need. -
Unless you know something I don't please remove Pariah anchorite from the Villain list. Mapmaster has already stated that he mistakenly marked that as confirmed on the Vidiotmaps table, and no one has come forward with a method for a villain to get it.
You can add Coralax Blue Hybrid to the Gladiator section too.
And Crystal Keeper to the accomplishment section. -

PVP zone related badges (text bugged)
Reinforcement - Clear a PvP zone mission to buff your side.
[/ QUOTE ]
VVolf - Thanks for all the work.
Small error - The Reinforcement badge is for offing 20 heroes in a PvP zone. I got it a couple nights ago!
[/ QUOTE ]
No, re read what he wrote. The text description (or the award conditions) of PvP badges are bugged. That badge may say kill 20 players, but you don't need to do that to get the badge. He is correct when he says completing a mission of that type grants the badge. -
First level of contacts in Oakes are 5-10
-
Very easy to get the badge by accompanying a toon that has the mission. The fact that most first toons stay on Mercy and on teams up through the Mongoose missions almost guarantees they'll be close to L10 by the time they hit Oakes, when ideally if you want to see all the contact's stories, you need to go right after you finish with Kalinda and are L5-6
Whenever I start a toon now, I solo Kalinda on villainous, then run to oakes and begin working on getting Bocor and Vendetti. -

Hellions: same. You won't see many bosses unless you have a full group of 8 though.

Damned do spawn in Port Oakes, found some of them in Dockside and Oil Spill while I was doing my Gangbuster hunt. Running a lowbie's missions like you suggest would probably be faster, though.

yup they do. It should be considered if you're solo and desperate. However since I could watch the bar move in the 8man mission and barely got it to above 1/5th in an hour of street hunting, the mission is the way to go.
Just a bit of clarification for the folks who haven't done this before: When I talk about taking a mission from the paper, there are a few things to keep in mind. For the purposes of getting a badge, you DO NOT want to complete the mish and move on. It's simpler and faster to "milk" it. When it comes to paper missions, I recomment the "Steal" missions. It's trickier to deal with outrunning a hostage on a Kidnap (though recall works great here), and all too easy to kill a boss in a Defeat mission. Since most of the badge-aholics in your team wont be there for the xps, completing the mission isn't key. Just clear it, then abandon and reset it once everyone is out. The best way to scope for a specific foe from the paper is to either stand at the Ferry, or at the door to another mission. Check your paper, if what you want isnt there, zone and check again. With a mission door you need to make 2 trips, that's why I prefer the ferry. I can pick 2 spots, like Oakes and Cap au Diable and check the paper with fresh missions on both ends. Yeah, its somewhat cheesy in a way, but it doesn't break any rules of the system, and it ends up in a good result for a full team of players (plus the owner of the mish gets the bonus on the final run when the mish is actually completed). In CoH high end missions get milked all the time (paragon protectors, carnie illusionists, fake nemesis). In this case its simply at the lower end of the scale. -
Both of you guys do a great job, and I definitely know the pressure of the desire to get that 1st toon as high as it can. Besides, the villains are fun!
Can I ask a question of you though mapmaster? on your list of badges it shows the Glad badge for Pariah anchorite as Villain confirmed. Can you or anyone else post what a badguy needs to do to get it? It's obvious that it's not getting the same Histort badge as heros, and I haven't found the post/info anywhere. -
Here are a few pieces of advice I can give on getting certain badges in CoV:
Skulls: there are skulls in Mercy, but no Bosses, so it's really best to snag a newspaper mission (or get a lowbie who can get one) then form a full group and kick up the difficulty.
Hellions: same. You won't see many bosses unless you have a full group of 8 though.
Silver Bullet: hunting the beaches at night in Sharkhead. There's also a place they spawn 24hr a day in shark, but I don't know it.
The Slayer: best source or Vampyri I've found is the Silver Mantis SF (gotten from an SG mission computer).
Banished Pantheon Masks: there is one mission about the Scroll of Tiklekki (sp) that spawns BP, but we could not get it to spawn Masks, only Totems. Its possible that if the mission holder is 25 or less, or the right mix of party size/ mission dificulty, the Masks would spawn, but we didnt take the time to experiment.
Trolls: I'm told there are certain missions that send you to Paragon and you can get the badge. I've seen the badge, but I couldnt get specific info on what contact/level was needed.
Gangbuster: the Jack pot area of St Martial is an excellent hunting ground if you're high enough lvl. Great xps too, just beware of the Pet Bug. The bosses tend to summon Singularities, and currently Summoned pets are not guaranteed to be -1 of their master. Our crew got wrecked by a L52 singularity, and we saw a range of 24-52 all spawning from L34-36 bosses. Not common, but it does happen.
Untouchable: its still possible to get this badge in CoV, just kill Family bosses that are not Marcone.
Coralax Blue Hybrid (gladiator badge): the Oil Spill area in Oakes is a good place for a simple hunt. They also spawn in Sharkhead and Nerva if you want xps. -
Catching ghosts is quite tricky when you are overleveled (they are gray cons). I would say anything beyond 15ft or so from the trap wouldn't count, but that's just my approximation. We had the best luck with a Brute with Taunt.
They need to come up with some sort of effect or marker that shows when ghost will count. Would be nice to see a blinky effect around a ghost when he's in range, and then you know it's good.
