I wish it wasn't too late to ask you to edit out that AIDs comment. We all have some idea of that history, but that particular comment smacks of small mindedness, dark times, has nothing to do with fun, pop culture, or gaming. Not particular appropriate for a 'fun' thread, and you should feel a bit ashamed.

If you mean the Starship Enterprise from TV it is in the National Air and Space Museum.

-You can sit through an episode of MST3K and get every reference they throw.

No one gets everything. The show is designed so that only mold on rocks being pumped TV 24/7 could possibly get everything. If you think you got everything, you're fooling yourself, watch it again with someone new, and there will more than likely be things you missed. Even if you accounted for every line they said in the entire episode and deemed that you 'got it, I wager they threw something in subliminally that you missed, that's how sneaky they are. :P -
You may be an old internet gamer if:
You played nethack...in black and white
You are adept at the Unix version of Net Trek.
You remember when 90% of the internet ended in .edu, .mil, or .gov
Posted on USENET and know what a real flame war is.
Most of your liquid intake consisted of Jolt.
I know, not as old as some of the pop culture references in the rest of the thread, but there was a time when this was what the cutting edge of the online world was. -
Ok, crossposting this in multiple forums isn't such a hot idea. It's against forum rules too. One post in Player Questions would have been enough.

Some other thoughts:
Get used to playing without sound, but dont go berserk looking for a clicky when you can hear it.
Do your best not to mash keys, or even tap one over and over too loudly. Playing doesnt sound much like typing, if you're at all close to anyone else. -
Your best bet is to get in touch with some of the raid leaders on your server. To get successful raids and keep people happy, my experience is they like to "train up" potential leaders so that the chance for success is at it's best. I recommend picking one of the tasks you think your toon fits best at, and talking to that team lead after the next raid on your server. Learning one task, participating on that team, learning what is done when, and then leading that task yourself at some point. Specific info is out there, it's just not in bright and shiny guides so that some new L50 doesn't think, oh that looks easy, I think ill run a raid next weekend! PUG raids with inexperienced leaders just tick people off.

Heh. I'm still expecting this to get changed soon enough.

Me too, but that doesn't mean I'm not helping anyone who wants it in the meantime. -

I'm pretty sure there will be a Portal Jockey type badge with a requirement to kill all of the Phalanx members or something within the lvl 40-50 content.
[/ QUOTE ]
Considering one of the inactive badges in the lists made from pigg files is for exactly that, I would not be surprised in the least. -
Well since the accolades themselves have a level tag on them, I'd kind of like to think that the badges do too. They just don't have a any buffs or powers to shut off.
Flipside to that, it's entirely possible that no badge has a level tag, just the accolade powers themselves. In fact that makes more sense, and doesn't bode well unless the Accolade Awarding code they use when they activate them is pretty clever -

My concern is that when Issue 7 goes Live, people will receive accolades at their current level. If you malefactor to someone, you lose powers and accolades you earned after the level you melefactor to. So, if you actually satisfied the requirements for an Atlas Medallion-like accolade at 25, and you receive the accolade at 40, then the accolade would not be available if you malefactored down to level 30. It's a minor issue of course, but it would be nice if the accolade roll-out didn't work this way.

QFT, and I renew calls to REMOVE the Accolade penalty as this PUNISHES existing characters. Accolades are earned, yet go away while the mentor "guides" another character?
Again, please REMOVE this penalty, Positron!
[/ QUOTE ]
It's pretty arguable that several of the existing CoH accolades aren't "meant" for <40 toons anyway, and only a couple of them are really do-able for a non SKd 30+, so it's not like "we wuz robbed!"
In any case, it's entirely possible that the new accolades will be based on exisitng badges, and anyone who was active and diligent while leveling up may be granted one of more the day they log in after i7 hits.
If you chose to level up to 40 before you went badge hunting, welll that was your choice, I should think. -

Yeah, Jailbird's been in since beta, and tons easier to get than isolater. No dice, pal.
[/ QUOTE ]
What if you weren't in beta, and didn't read anything about beta, and made your character ASAP on head start weekend? Truthfully though, people aren't so much asking for Jailbird that way because they missed the badge, but because it makes sense from a story point of view. Yeah in the meta sense, its a different map and not the same place, but in ingame sense, it's the same place with the same historical signifcance. Either edit the map so that cell is blasted to smithereens, or put the Jailbird marker in. I also think it would be cool to put mimics of Paragon city badges on the spots they would be when villains take instanced missions to those areas. Not all of them, but a few. It would be a nice piece of simisimilitude (if its not a word, I made it up so nyah). -

Cuppa's been trying, but she has yet to be able to convince the devs to throw us a bone.

IF we were to ever add a way to get Isolator post-Tutorial, it would most likely be incredibly hard to get. Annoyingly hard. Irritatingly hard. There-would-be-a-zillion-people-asking-to-make-it-easier hard.
But IF we were to add it, it would be available nonetheless.

For some reason this just made me smile Positron. IF it happened, I'd still more than likely give it a go. -
The way I've been pulling lately has decent success, and takes advantage of animation times. I use this both with my Scrapper (laser beam eyes) and my Dominator (the basic Thorns attack). Both of them have stealth, which helps, but is not a necessity since I used this with good success even before the respecs that I got stealth with.
pick your target and queue your pull attack while out of range. move into range in small increments until the attack triggers. Then quickly during the animation time, press and hold the movement keys to back away. As soon as the animation finishes, you're moving away, and quite often out of attack range when the foe you shot makes his 'do I shoot or do I chase' check. Then he very calmy begins to run away from his friends and toward you. As soon as he is out of Per range of his friends, you can charge back to attack, or wait for him to get to you. -
Mad Scientist, great job on the list again, and thank you for tagging in my suggestion on the Epic Inf badges.

The whole World Wide Red storyarc is about how expensive the Kronos was to put together and how there were only two of them, which the heroes take out over the course of the arc.
I don't think we'll see another Kronos on the villain side just so we can get a badge.
[/ QUOTE ]
Phaw, money is of no concern to the likes of Lord Recluse. If he decides to find the plans and build the robot, it wold be built. -
Since Kronos is spawned as 40+ Hero content, and we haven't seen 40+ Villain content, there's no way to say for sure he'll make an appearance, but Since Malta begin to appear in Warburg for higher lvl Villains, I don't much doubt they'll come to plague Villains in Grandville.

Veluta has 2 arcs. The first is 5-10, the second has no level limit although the mobs cap at level 15. This leads to the impression she's 5-15, but if you get her after 10 you only get 3 of her missions.
Still, the level difference between the roaming ghosts and the trap-sprung ghosts means that no one hunts roaming ghosts until they're grey-con. That's kinda silly, IMHO.
[/ QUOTE ]
I for one don't want to see the badge that unlocks veluta cheapened just for the sake of unlocking. 100 should be the minimum for that type of badge. I personally find it bothersome that there's just no way to get the badge between levels 5-10 without having someone 10+ along to help. That's regardless of trap sprung spawns or not. -

2. You can get beacons for any zone as long you collect all badges in each zone in sg mode

The confusion lays betwee CoH and CoV. You are correct that in CoV every zone has a beacon, but in CoH that's not the case. -

Posi, there has been great debate on how to earn the time badges in PVP. Can you once and for all explain the do's and don'ts of how to earn it.
[/ QUOTE ]
There's no debate, there's just a lot of false info out there. It's not helped by the fact that they may/may not have been stealth fixed, or rebroken at any given point.
When I did it, it was simple enough. 5 contiguous (look up the difference between contiguous and continuous if you need to) hours in the zone for a given toon. No travel, no door missions. I logged out for real life or to switch toons with no problems. I was not disconnected by the game accidentally. I DID need to logout then come back to get the "Badge Earned" messages. -
The easiest time I had with this trial was a full group, yet no Corruptors.
People who know their powers know how to talk to each other, and know how to bring everything they have to the table are far more useful than any particular formula for ATs. -
Good news Taser, it gets frustrating not seeing decent advice on how to get certain badges, or seeing Hero-centric advice.
Dunno how detailed they want to get over there, but would be nice to get Villain info when you click on the details as a villain and hero info as a hero, but you'll probably be stuck cramming hero/villain info into a single field. -
Before you folks boggle on prestige costs and whatnot, remember this. You don't need to have your own Mission Computer to do this TF, just to start one. You can be a member of a team where someone starts the TF on thier SG's mission computer, without being a member.
-
There must be more than 1 map for that mission then. When I farmed it the office had 2 floors, 10-20 masks per floor.
