Why do people say they arent good?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Because they don't dish out lots of damage.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Truthfully I feel that's the core of it. So much of the game is centered on the big hurt, and a class that doesn't bring it will generally be looked at as inferior.

Doms don't bring the big hurt, and they demand a playstyle with a premium on situation awareness, and fast accurate judgements about where to focus. It's the least straightforward CoV AT, so it's bound to get it's share of detractors who think it should be "more like" whatever they want it to be more like.

If we were made more efficient, either through better damage for the endurance we use, or less endurance for all the abilities we need to spam, some of the issues might be solved, however that wouldn't change the fact that Dominators have a very different playstyle than the others.
  2. im with monkey_king on deathsurge. he's worth 0 or 1.
  3. I don't thing a smaller one would look as round and wholesome. Also then, it would be a little red ball....

Its not illogical at all. I don't see how this could be included into the game without breaking the game immersion. And that's even before we start talking about lag.

    [/ QUOTE ]
It could be done as a periodic Gamester symptom every couple of months. Sometimes the Big Red Ball is the only indication that the Gamester is out and about, and sometimes the Big Red Ball would be only the beginning of his mischief.

Look at me. I don't even get paid to figure this [censored] out.

    [/ QUOTE ]

well, it's not like you're not the 2nd or 3rd person to mention that in this thread.
Doesn't make you wrong, just a good follower. *giggles and hides*

I might be the only "No" in this thread but I hope they never introduce something like this. I come to paragon for super heroics and maybe a bit of role play.

Chasing a ball? Ugh! No thanks.

    [/ QUOTE ]

All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. Even the Xmen stopped to play basketball sometimes. I even recall 2 issues devoted to Girls night out and Boys night out. While things didn't stay sane and normal for long when they were out, the fact was, they went out to decompress.

My hero has the best time in Paragon just helping people and busting criminals in exchange for Twinkies and Grape Soda. A Big Red Ball would be a nice distraction. Besides, as several people have suggested, it would be a neat thing to have and have it develop into a plot from the Gamester.

jesus i cant find any mook capos in port right now, just spent over 5 minutes wandering around marconeville and villa monstrose

btw i heard with this badge you unlock the slot machine contact but outlevel him by 35, is that true? is his arc worth getting? my main badge collector is lv 40 now

    [/ QUOTE ]

The number of bosses in the open has to do with the number of players in the area.

Yes, it is true that Slot Machine is a 30-35 contact. The arc is great, but there's no badge mission in it, just the badge needed to unlock access. Your L40 won't be able to do the arc.

PS, none of this relates to issue 7, since this is a working badge on Live for months, unless Issue 7 broke it somehow.
  9. Threads don't move or lock unless they break forum rules or are in the wrong place. This one is universally good all over, so no reason why it would. I don't think that means they're considering it seriously, but that doesn't mean they're not. There are a lot of ideas they like, just not as many they can do.

I think the idea of tying it into Gamester makes it fit the world better, and will help them accept it, if they ever do.
  10. 30 Helens agree....
A Big Red Ball would be a great change

    *one Helen pipes up*
As long as you look both ways before you chase it into the street.

  11. No, but it might work if the rule of gravity were different for the ball than they are for mobs and players.
  12. I think the BRB could work different ways in different zones, taking advantage of the existing architecture to make different Games.

Games... the BRB could be the latest plot of the Gamester! No one knows why it's there, but that could be revealed later, after we're all hooked on the thing like it's cheap Crack.

So yeah, different games. Hit different billboards for different points. Tall buildings side by side could work as goals. Long tunnels with points awarded to whoever gets it out the opposing end first. Ramp rolling. Troll Bowling contests. Don't get it near Nemesis, they'll pop it with their bayonets.... Steel Canyon would ring loud with street hockey, and shouts of "Carrr!!!" and "Game On!!"

Odds are no, since Ignorance of the badge was not what has been the driving force behind trying to get a second chance at Isolator.

    [/ QUOTE ]

True enough, but it would be nice if 'Back into Breakout' granted it for the few that did miss out. I made my main as a throwaway that I didnt expect to enjoy, very early (the first 10minutes of headstart). I see how much the Isolator thing divides heroside, so I don't get bugged about it, but I do miss it. It's just been my feeling that when the map is of 'the same place' then the markers should be there. verisimilitude and all that.

You're right - there are sooo many basketball courts. I love the idea!

    Definitely a vote for BRB!!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Bah Lord Recluse had a thing with Michael Jordan back in the 80's and it led to him wiping out all basketball courts, we're not allowed to play.

    BRB= good Basketball dependent= bad

    [i.e. I don't recall a single court in the R. Isles]
  15. yeah, but you can't ignore the things they did to Sally to eliminate those concerns. changing the timer to an hour or so, and lowering the badge requirement to 2. That cleared up the competition and camping pretty quickly, because everyone who wanted it was able to be throughput quickly. The same hero that manages to snag 2 contaminated in RV while he's working his 5hr badge (if he's lucky) will still be there in 2-3 weeks trying to get the badge.

When it goes to live, I'm going to try to promote hero cooperation when it comes to this thing. At the very least, every effort should be made to get full teams of 8 in on each kill. If it means tp foe and Hold in a secluded spot until the team is ready, so be it.
  16. As long as Containment doesnt apply to it, I think we can safely ignore any color balance issues.

You and your idea are strange and beguiling.

We say the same about you all the time Clint.

  18. I think words like insulting and sadistic are a bit overmuch, if this is gonna remain a levelheaded discussion.

The only thing that really bothers me about this method for getting Isolator, is that it flies in the face of one of the main design principles of the game. It's now gonna be a camped spawn from here until the nth of never, and that's something I hoped never to see in this game. Even if it is 'just for a badge'
  19. Thing is, pulling doesn't take undue time and effort on a team with good discipline. It usually only takes 2-3 good pulls to tip the balance in the team's favor in an ugly spot of the map. A team that knows what to do can get it done very quickly if communication is good.

Even pulls that bring a full spawn back are not always bad pulls. Sometimes that is what I want, if I'm simply breaking off one group from an area where 2-3 groups would see us if we advanced. Again, nothing that takes tons of time, and in the end actually speeds up the encounter.

I still pull. I use it when it should be used, and I use it to get the team back in the groove after a wipe sometimes. It's not inferior just because it has a time and place, and I don't think anyone is advocating all pulling all the time.
  20. The overall changes to toggle dropping are universal, not Dominator specific. The percentages have been lowered, not removed. There's no more 100% chance to drop a toggle anymore.
