I guess all the people that never liked the comic just can't be bothered to post in this thread. So I will! I thought that the comic was a waste of time and paper from the beginning. It rarely had any resemblance to what the game was about, and when it turned from original characters to focus on signature characters I really lost interest. I don't usually ask for much from my comic books but even when I read it for free as a pdf I felt like I had wasted money. If the money for making this came out of our subscription fees and that money now becomes available to pay for something I can enjoy, like more game content, then I'm happy.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I actually agree with you on this one Fred. I always felt the living game and adventures were much more vibrant, and no matter what they did in the comic it felt pale. As a supplement it was just never enough to sustain my interest. It always felt out of pace with the game I was playing.

    Cryptic starts working with Marvel.

    <two-thirds of a year goes by>

Cryptic shuts down its own comic.

Uhhhh, somebody want to pop a quick "In no way was this decision influenced by Cryptic's partnership with Marvel Comics" in there? I'm feeling a tad paranoid today and could use the comfort disclaimer.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Fixed that for you. Seriously, you think the two are in any way related?
  3. Yeah, remember it's not hogwash when the headline said this was done by your fellow players. We're working on ways to bring what's best about these forums and the game as a whole to the forefront. Teldon had a really good series of articles in the Pinnacle forum, and we've asked him to expand it (among a lot of other ideas we're all working on).

It's great that BtM has become as popular as we'd hoped. However it's going to be as drama free as we can make it. We could to 4 players a week for the next decade not make a significant dent in the playerbase, so I think everyone can calm down about trying to get picked, and enjoy the ones that do get picked, because Teldon's doing a great job at it so far.

By the way, anyone who is interested in the older ones can search Teldon's post history to find them. It's all Pinnacle peoples but still.

just wondering. What would one do to get interviewed for the Behind the Mask Section? also, what would one have to do to make the headline?

I would like to see a panel disscussion where we can talk about our gripes, concerns, and hope for the game, BUT it would have to not be a smoke and mirrors meeting, meaning that we give you our suggestions, good or bad,and you do not flush them the moment the event is over(not saying you would)
yes there will be some Neg talk about the game, but if it is constructive you should get it,if all you are looking for is us to stroke your ego and tell you how wonderful you are,it would be a waste of time.

    [/ QUOTE ]

And if all you're looking for is to vent your spleen about things you don't like I think it would be a waste of time too. If you want them to go into it with an open ear and an open mind then you have to do the same. Be ready to listen to what they have to say, because they're the people who do the actual job and know the actual info, you know?

  10. Sounds awesome Cave Ant, but I suggest you post it in the Section for creative stuff, since that's where it belongs, then send a PM to Marcian or Teldon with linkage.

Ideally I think they're looking to make this adjunct to the normal forums. A kind of Best of compilation. So even things made specifically with an eye to getting into the Scoop ought to be where they belong in the regular forums.
  11. One thought I had. Prior to Issue9, you had the Developer Conference, and you were showing i9 to the press. This was during closed beta. I have no idea how easy/hard it is to enable accounts for Test server access like you did, however if you planned an event and either showed off a Closed Beta upcoming publish to the PLAYERS, or ideally gave them closed beta access for the rest of that test cycle, that would be pretty sexy.
  12. Television without Pity has a 2 part podcast with Jack Coleman, AKA Horned Rimmed Glasses dude, AKA Claire's dad.

The ONLY thing I thought was inappropriate was when GW said that "the first rule of getting a title is not to ask" and then she disappeared shortly there after, presumably because she was slightly peeved that she kept getting asked for them - to that I also say 'grow up'...c'mon GW, you KNEW you'd be asked for them!!!!!

    [/ QUOTE ]

She left because she had been in that instance for 15-20 minutes already. They were still club hopping at that stage. It wasn't peevishness at being asked, it was Standard procedure, she was just making a little joke. I got my title form her by joking in broadcast that even though I've asked for her number several times, I still didn't get it (lemur may be a hero but he gets crushes easily). A moment or two later I noticed "Numberless" over my head. At which point I sent her a tell thanking her, and she responded politely and pleasantly. All that happened just about the same time you mentioned her saying that and leaving, so I maintain you just sort of misread what was going on.

At these events they are almost always in Tell Hell, people who feel the need to send them messages and ask questions that no one else gets to hear, instead of talking to them and coializing along with everyone else. Add to that the fact that they're at the office together and talking to each other, and basically there's a lot of things going on. They come across as distracted quite a lot of the time, and no surprise.
  14. The best place for the Numina IO is in an auto power, not in a toggle power.
  15. [ QUOTE ]
The past arguments made by Statesman and Positron on how they wished to keep CoX casual now has gone out the window with the Pandora's Box of Inventions. Slotting and set bonuses are now so complicated, I can't plan out a build on the fly.

    [/ QUOTE ]

And I'd have to say that your's is a fallacy based on taking a snapshot. Sure early on you can't plan a build with the new system because it's new and takes time to digest. That doesn't mean the system is too complicated for casual play, it just means you're not totally familiar with it.

The day you started the game you didn't know about all the different enhancers or the slotting options and you couldnt plan a build on the fly either. Doesn't mean the game and it's systems aren't casual friendly or overly complicated. Just means it takes some time to learn.

They've done a good job with the tutorial. They've made it digestible. Even though it's a big system it's still just the bare bones of it and it stands to get much bigger. If they had reams of paperwork done and ready for publish or disbursement along with the release of the Issue, I would have been incredibly worried and upset, because that would have meant so many things were set in stone months ago.

As it is, things have been fluid and flexible and right up until the end things have been going through some pretty fundamental changes that overall make the whole endeavor better. The fact that intimate details of the system haven't been pinned down gave me more faith in the entire testing process. So trying to nail them to the wall for not having it all documented and publishing full guides is pretty weak behavior in my mind.

    Vengeance

    [ QUOTE ]
For the PvE folks reading this, no, Vengeance is not meant to stack in PvE, either and the change, when it happens, will apply in those encounters as well.

By this I hope you mean when the NPCs use it as well.

    Additions I found:

Costume scales the window with your 1-5 costumes. The images aren't ultra detailed and some end up being darker because of the way it backlights what you're wearing, but it's a neat way to get a screenie of all a character's costumes at once.

    Post i9
On test I played with this, and scaling the Salvage and Recipe Windows is really nice. I scale them down to max the # of things I can see and min the icons, unless I want to get a screen of some item icons. If anyone could figure out the window name for the Vault window, I'd be grateful.
  18. ok, lets be clear. You can use the IO enhancers and they work fine. The thing that does not work is this one type of set bonus. Does that make sense?
  19. [ QUOTE ]
You can write off Summon Teammates. Nobody can possibly still have it by the time they get high enough level to make it into the Hive or the Abyss.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Plenty of 50s out there that have been 50 longer than Safeguards were in the game. It would be easy to have some that were exactly like my main on test, did the Safeguard just to get the badge and power. If it's a character someone only trots out for raids, then the temp power could be available for a bunch of raids.

As for the rest of your post, not everyone has your prejudices against TP powers. Get over it. No one is holding their breath waiting for anything here, just pointing out the advantages. Heck I've already planned to get Team TP on my 50 Dom. I might as well spec for Raiding since I'm not particularly welcome on a lot of LRSF teams. I'm sure a lot of people will do the same. Since we'd only "need" 6 people with the powers AT MOST, that's really not asking a lot. We can get by with 1 or 2.

  21. While the news from Castle is disappointing, I would move on and say that one of two things needs to happen:

    1) Either they allow for the fix as described by iakona.
    2) They Document this ingame somehow.

These little +heal IO bonuses are pretty commonplace. However locking people out of them in the fairly ubiquitous self heals that give Toxic, seems to be shooting them in the foot.
