Was that a backhanded way of saying you don't like the way Hertz writes, or did you just mean Hertz shouldn't go out of the way to make people happy?
Your comment could be read a couple different ways, and I'm asking before I judge -

Then we have to play favorites. If you had an idea of the grief some people put poor Teldon under already, you probably wouldn't push for that. We have to maintain a line between keeping Behind the Mask interesting, and keeping it accessible. If it were just limited to the 'noteworthy' then it would tick off a lot more people than it makes happy. If I were an unknown, I'd be happy to see some other unknowns, even if I weren't picked. Heck, I'm happy to read about people I never heard of before because for the most part they've turned out to have something interesting.
We're not trying to attack you about this, just explain how things are getting done the best we can. There's no real need to toss around borderline terms like puff piece, especially when it wasn't. The stuff I write? Yeah puff piece this week. But not that one. May have been stuff you already knew, but that doesn't mean everyone did. -

Not everythig is Behind the Mask, but we're doing our best. -
I'm also gonna jump in and cover Teldon on this one. He has been very aware since week one that he didn't want to give any particular server too much attention. His decision was he could pay closer attention to that by focusing on a particular servers that he hasn't done at all yet over the next couple of weeks.
Behind the Mask is more popular than a lot of people imagined, and Teldon get's a lot of requests each week. He could do 10 a day every day from now until they shut the servers down, and it wouldn't be enough.
We haven't forgotten any server. It will happen. Just takes a little patience. There's only so much we can get done in any given week. -

Jason Rowe kind of made me feel sad at first, but then I thought, that's who these kind of games are perfect for. In-game, he can be who he wants to be, no one sees his disability and feels sorry for him (like I did when I first saw the picture.) I imagine virtual worlds can be a great outlet, they allow people who are constantly treated as different to be treated just like everyone else for awhile.
[/ QUOTE ]
QFT Vox - I felt the exact same way. The virtual world cares a lot less about RL physical handicaps. As long as you have some sort of interface to a computer, you're set.
[/ QUOTE ]
He's made news before, I remember hearing about him back when I was playing swg.
I wouldn't feel bad for the disabled who get to play with games like this. I do feel bad for that morbidly obese kid who plays EQ 80 hours a week. I'm not passing judgement, since his weight problem could be caused by other things, however if his sedentary lifestyle is what's leading to it, then he needs to get out more.
I liked the piece, I just wish the screenshots had been a bit higher quality. Also, there are a lot better looking costume options out there. -

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but the only Co-op specifically mentioned is the TF.
Please tell me the entire ZONE is going to be Co-op so my 40+ Villains will not be sentenced to Lagville.

From the Announcement (emphasis mine):
[ QUOTE ]
Rikti War Zone (Levels 35 50)
The site of the crashed Rikti mother ship has become a hot War Zone. Pylons of unknown purpose have appeared around the mother ship, and Rikti presence is extremely heavy. In an attempt to contain the Rikti from breaking out of the area or launching their ship, the government has cordoned off the zone, allowing only select agents access. Government officials have turned the region over to Vanguard, and given them the authority to recruit forces from across the world. This zone is open to both Heroes and Villains, in their combined, desperate struggle to hold the front lines against the second Rikti Invasion.

Great - another issue with none of the content we asked for! Vehicles, no. Interplanetary travel, no. increased cap., no.
yeah... I'm sooo excited.

Sorry you feel that way, however everything I've heard about in the announcement is something I have asked for at one time or another, and I know many other people have too. -

Keeping in mind that the dev/des team of CoH and CoV are not identical to those working on other projects, what I see advertised here is insipid. I would prefer to pay $50-75 for a new expansion than receive such garbage.
What could be improved is as follows: enlarge the existing zones by about ten times existing size adding street signs and block numbers using the larger graphic tile sets rather than a pretended small set, add new "shops" where one can "buy" NPC friends and background/life event options, add new gameplay features that extend simlife elements entertainingly for the players of this game sensibly in regards to game history and theme, update many NPC enemy groups with new outfits and in some cases add new types to each including named villains along each common echelon of power (underling, minion, lieutenant, boss), permit new and more detailed character creation along with signature powers for player characters. This and other additions would take about two months of normal work (rather than playing pocket pong most of the day) without introducing problems into the game as "play testing" -- I noticed some of the defective methods of play testing undertaken by Cryptic during the CoV Betas which included introducing old graphical glitches and map glitches that were smoothed out early in CoH before the appearance of Founders Falls.
Guys, really. Just slap together an expansion full of features and pretend you've been working on it for a few years. That sorta thing would work well in tandem with your normal method.
[/ QUOTE ]
Some LOL Sauce to go with your whine
If I wanted to play a Sim game, I'd go buy a Sim game. I'm happy that there are minimal elements of that nature in what is an action adventure game.
Just the other day, they posted an interview with the costume designer where it said it took him a couple days work to convert a single costume piece from one character model to another. Based on this and other known facts about reasonable development, I call shenanigans on your bloated estimate of "two months of normal work"
Your "normal method" of being insulting and then consistently begging for features that belong almost entirely in other games, is more than a little ridiculous. Your claims about what people want and how easy it would be to make are likewise.
I have no advice for you on how to curb this trend, because telling you where I think you should stick it violates a number of rules. Just rest easy that you're the only person in this thread who thinks that this is not a remarkably quick turnaround for a significant amount of content. -

I think you're reading way too much into the forum titles.

Just my two cents worth, but dredging up an argument that was over a couple days ago and ended with apologies and no hard feelings, is somewhat pointless.
-
I wanted to stick my head back in here and say thanks to Flareback for clarifying his position. Sorry if I came across as harsh, but I want that kind of thinking nipped in the bud, because it's not how we're trying to run things at all.
We really just want to put out something that's fun for everyone. It's a lot of fun doing it so far, and it makes me glad to see people enjoying it. -

I feel guilty enough just revealing him so publically. I think War_Witch would kill me if I gave away the exact spot. -
I'm not saying he's not entitled to his opinion, I'm just pointing out how what he's claiming doesn't actually jibe with the facts of the situation. I'm sorry if I came across as a little miffed, but I really don't like seeing the "superiority comlex" card get played when there is absatively no reason for it considering all the things we've done to include people.
-
A) if you think this is an elitist thing, you're off in the tall grass.
B) we have been adding new people every week. we have been adding guest columnists (based on quality of posting not just being part of the cool crowd).
Honest to god, this is completely 100% about good ideas. In EVERY post that kicks off the Discussion for every issue, we make it completely clear exactly how to get a hold of us if you think you have an idea you want to contribute.
The key to getting involved isn't who you know, it isn't how much you've posted. It's about having a good idea. We're here to pick what's best about these forums and this community. If you think there's something we missed, point it out to us.
Last thing I'll say: I've had my name tacked to the end of the State of the Archetype articles for the last two weeks, in case anyone wanted to volunteer or nominate someone. I have so far gotten Zero nominations. Please don't make it like we're trying to be exclusive.
Stop trying to lay your grade school clique trip on this, because that's not how it is.

I await to see the next issue and hope for more sections, perhaps?
[/ QUOTE ] No worries on that score. We're following our original gameplan of starting slow and getting our feet under us. We're bringing in new voices all the time, just to keep people from feeling burned out, and to keep things fresh. With a little luck, this will be something that will be rolling for a long time to come. -

Minor beef, but the Chinese proverb that opens the issue is misquoted. It's "May you live in UNinteresting times" No biggie though.

Less web involvement = NOT GOOD
Comic was free then we had to pay = NOT GOOD
Comic was monthly then every 2 months = NOT GOOD
Comic is gone = NOT GOOD (even though NCSoft had little to do with the comics it still reflects on NCSoft et al)
Sponsered events with cameos by States et all now only occur on test server = NOT GOOD (I play CoX not CoXTEST)
Regular issue updates to game = NORMAL (we were given this already with game launch)
Loss of some regular Red-Names to other projects = NOT GOOD (Not saying anything bad about present Red-Names)
Long outstanding bugs ignored in preference to rushing new issue release = NOT GOOD
[/ QUOTE ]
1) Once the new Community staff was in place and up to speed, they've been consistently adding more and doing more both on the web and ingame.
2) the comic declined for one reason: PEOPLE WEREN'T READING IT! So to counter points 2-4 I say
Keeping a Comic that has been a consistent money sink for nearly two years= NOT GOOD
5) I saw Ghost Widow on Pinnacle last week. I know more events have been on Test, but that's because it's easier to manage for everyone involved. There were so many instances of Pocket D that got left out at the 2nd year bash it's silly.
6) I have no idea what you're saying here.
7) Staffers come, staffers go. This is normal in every industry. This is not the 1960's
8) Some long standing bugs are still bugs, but I can think of a few that have been fixed.
9) the A-List and B-List thing? No idea what you're saying again. CoH/V are the same game. That's probably one other reason why the comic was cancelled. It meant little or nothing to people playing the Villain game. As for the Marvel game, that will be fortunate to make it live before the next decade. A game that isn't even out of concept art in terms of public exposure is not knocking a living game off any lists.
