Hmm. Nice enough shirts, I suppose, but I miss a sense of fun in them.

My broadcasts were ever few mins for about 5mins
[/ QUOTE ]
That's frequent enough to be annoying, and I would have considered that spamming. -
[ QUOTE ]
Well their project management must suck then.
[/ QUOTE ]
It is starting to look like that. Considering the size of I15 and how much I13 and I14 slipped (almost 11 full months of those two issues alone) I'm really not impressed by the time they're needing to get a quite trivial I15 done. -
[ QUOTE ]
We were all led to believe it was the "next big issue" when they knew it wasntThats a good point actually, have they confirmed that issue 16 is the big one?
[/ QUOTE ]
No, although that they've announced it already suggests it. (Personally, I suspect I17 is more likely, but there's not really been any indication of that either.) -
When you die, reduce XP earnt to 25% for the next five minutes. If you die again in that period, add five more minutes, up to a maximum of 15. To not make some players focus overmuch on the penalty, increase the drop rate of inspirations by 50 - 100% while the XP penalty is in effect[1].
Patrol XP can work by giving you "free minutes" that you don't have to pay for: if you have 8 free minutes and die once, you're down to 3 free minutes. If you die again, you've got no more free minutes and have to play for two minutes with reduced XP.
The "debt clock" for a character does not run if you're logged in on another character, and runs at 1/10th speed if you're logged off entirely. (So all accrued "debt time" is gone by tomorrow.)
[1] This one is probably difficult to implement in the current game. I don't think the system allows for individual drop rates. -

Also How on earth are you going to earn the "Admiring badge" in the future when "The Chosen one" has been removed. You are going to play a Devs choice... but now there will be perhaps no dev choice badge?
I'm interested in knowing that system, both as an author and as a badger.
Also you can get the "Critic" badge, but this badge comes from playing a certain amount of Hall of Fame badges... Which will be removed. Again, I would be interested to know more of the new system you are giving us.
[/ QUOTE ]
As I understand it, missions will still be promoted to "Dev's Choice" or "Hall of Fame" and will appear as such in the mission browser, so you can play Dev's Choice and HoF missions all you want. There will just no longer be any badges given to the author when a mission is promoted. -

It still flumoxes me that the devs didn't see this coming. A friend said to me from when MA was first announced that it'll be used for farming.
[/ QUOTE ]
I honestly didn't think the MA would be used for farming, but then I honestly didn't think the developers would be crazy enough to have MA missions give full rewards either.
There is a lot of very good work put into the MA, but at the same time some aspects are so designed with so obviously little thought that as a developer I'm appalled. -
I believe this is an overreaction and largely mistargeted at that: they're throwing the coralax out with the bath-water.
As I see it, the problem with the MA badges were not that they lead to grinding or farming, but that a few of them were either outside the control of the player and could lead to "rating cabals" and that many of them were tied to testing rather than playing arcs (and for some reason the amounts required for the testing badges suggested a belief we would be spending much more time testing than we would playing.)
If anything, too many of the MA badges were too easy to get: when there's no challenge or effort behind a badge, there's no sense of achievment either.
I believe that what they should have done was to get rid of all the testing badges and the badges that were linked to ratings (and possibly play-throughs.) There was no point in removing the rest. -
I don't mind the downtimes as much as I mind the lack of notification about them. By now they really should have gotten a proper process with the posting of notifications in place.

Not really, if you remember about 2 months ago it was said the architect wasnt being released over in the EU because it wasnt deemed cost effective[...]
[/ QUOTE ]
The architect box might have also served as a bit of a test run to make sure they had the bricks-and-mortar distribution sorted out. -
Many, many years ago, I and a friend was introducing a second friend to Cyberpunk 2020. First friend was GM, I and the second friend were playing policemen (Harry Callahan style.)
For some reason, we were at a nightclub trying to track down some information. started by trying to intimidate the local roughboys. That failed and a couple of roughboys pulled their jackets back to show they were packing heat. Whereupon my friend had his character leap over the bar and open up with full auto fire from his MP5. In a crowded nightclub.
Fair enough. Stupid move, but that happens. Except he fumbled on his firearms roll. And hit my character. Repeatedly. For max damage. Through an insanely lucky first-aid roll my character managed to stabilise the wound enough that he'd die on the next turn, rather than right away.
Except that by now the roughboys had barricaded themselves behind an overturned table, so my friend's character decided to lob a fragmentation grenade at them. (Remember: he's a police constable and this is in a crowded nightclub full off regular people.) Again he fumbled. Time to throw on the dispersion table. Guess where the grenade landed? That's right, right at my character's feet. So much for first aid. -

Anyone even a little bit excited now?
[/ QUOTE ]
Not yet, no. I'll want to see what it actually contains of stories, new zones and new enemy groups before I make a decision about it. -
So. Seems there's an e-mail about going rogue doing the rounds, and its been confirmed by Castle.
Interesting. Very interesting. -
Nothing in it strikes me as really interesting -- I hadn't realised how recent NCSoft Europe had staffed up before the chop, and I guess it's worth noting that they're going for separate EU and US companies for Aion -- which suggests they're intending to keep NCSoft Europe as is.
-
Oh, and if I could make a request. One thing I like about review sites is too read the comments -- but at the moment comments are a bit sparse, so they're a bit fiddly to find.
In the mission list, could you add some kind of icon or distinguisher for missions who have at least one comment? (If you do that, you should probably make a second version of the distinguisher for missions with new -- say, < 48 hours old -- comments.) -
[ QUOTE ]
As does Carni mentioning difficulty and the difficulty of rating difficulty (as it's often character specific).
[/ QUOTE ]
What can be done easily is to just provide the number of people who've voted for each difficulty setting (like IMDB's detailed ratings) rather than trying to compact it into a single number. I'd say go for the four values of "easy", "normal", "challenging" and "frustrating". -
[ QUOTE ]
well since there is no other opinions i am going with leifs. by cohesion i assume you mean powers are meshing and the description matches the powers. so a description of "likes to burn from range" doesn't go with ice melee powers.
[/ QUOTE ]
Basically, how well a group of enemies hang together, over all. Do the costumes match the descriptions mach the powers match the names match the minion / lieutenant / boss structure match the group's background match the rest of the game's canon? -
[ QUOTE ]
what do you want to rate critters and other stuff on?
[/ QUOTE ]
I'd say rate enemies on costumes, descriptions and cohesion. -

Seeing as english is the language we all seem to be speaking, british people pronounce everything correctly, and as for everyone else it's down to accent, or you're just plain wrong.
[/ QUOTE ]
Which British people would that be? Geordies, Brummies or Scousers? -
[ QUOTE ]
That's just so we can't talk about it on the forums to each other or risk the wrath of NDA breakage
[/ QUOTE ]
Would we at least get an NDA badge out of it? -
[ QUOTE ]
Lol, just proves how much NC wastes PR,
[/ QUOTE ]
This is a common complaint here on the forums, and in most cases wrong. You have to remembere that apperances like this one is not aimed at us: they're aimed at people who're not already playing the game. -
Enticing Urban Place of Heroes and Evil-Minded Incessantly Scheming Miscreants.
-
What I'd really like to see is CoH as it is today, but tighter, shinier and more solid. Less focus on the next shiny, big thing and more work into improving and expanding on what's already there.
More low-level mission, get rid of or upgrade some of dustier missions and storylines, improved and better-looking King's Row, Steel Canyon, Skyway. New and more varied newspape and radio missions. Reduce the spawn rate of great monsters, and make them more spectacular. Add a few new ones. More Mayhem and Safeguard missions. New enemy groups in low and mid-level ranges. More craftable temporary powers and costume pieces. Supergroup tasks. More plaques. Better MA infrastructure. Better PvP infrastructure. Overhauled hazard zones. -

We haven't specified the exact extent of the measures we are taking against farming and those who have benefited from it, so let's not over-react.
[/ QUOTE ]
I think that's the problem
[/ QUOTE ]
Nah, the problem is that NCSoft waited too long before taking a clear and firm stance on MA farming. They should have gone on the forums a week or two ago and basically said "We consider the MA farming to be an exploit. Don't do it. We are looking into ways to shut it down, and players who continue to abuse it might have some form of punishment imposed: we haven't decided yet." -
[ QUOTE ]
Whats made me laugh is some of the anti farm posts have actualy been made by people who continually rinse the lord recluse, statesman , tf or sf for the very nice recipes, farming is farming whatever way you do it.
[/ QUOTE ]
Hardly. The problem with the MA farming isn't that it is farming, but that it is too prevalent and much too efficent and quick. The MA farming is far more detrimental to the game than the older "traditional" types of farming.
There's farming, and then there's slash-and-burn farming.
