but the first rule of MMOs is that the Devs will never be able to please all of the playerbase.
[/ QUOTE ]
I thought the first rule of MMOs was "Never engage in a major brand war in Azeroth"? (And the second rule is "Never go up against a Korean when PvP is on the line!") -
[ QUOTE ]
The fact that people are constantly suggesting ranged sets for Scrappers just shows they want the world on a plate.
[/ QUOTE ]
That said, every Scrapper set ought to include one (short) ranged attack -- without it, enemies running away get really annoying really soon. -

Except the buy every 30 days jet pack, i hope that gets the fail it deserves, in my opinion of course.
[/ QUOTE ]
Eh, it's no skin off my nose if lots of silly Americans with money burning holes in their pockets decides to give NCSoft the money they need to develope the Nemesis system or secret identities. -
[ QUOTE ]
If i look plain to the 'world of MMOs', its rather unique.
[/ QUOTE ]
Only if you exclude MUDs and MUSHes from MMOs, and I've yet to hear a good definition of MMOs which doesn't also cover some of the old MUDs or MUSHes. -

what really is the point in the merit system if it's going to take LONGER than farming a TF...
[/ QUOTE ]
Getting a rare receipe will take longer with the merit system. Get a particular rare receipe will be faster. -

Hmmm, I don't know but somehow I'm dissapointed by I13.
While the features are nice and can bring some great content, it very much sounds as if NCNC is slowly withdrawing from supporting the game that much.
Sounds more like, here you go do your own stuff, we'll concentrate on CoH2 now.
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually, if that had been the case I'd have expected the I13 announcment to have been just opposite of what it is: lots of new story content and missions, but little in the way of expansions and changes to the game mechanisms.
But yes, the lack of any indication of any new story content does make the issue appear "unfilling." I'm hoping, and half suspecting, that we'll get more content (the Coming storm related, no doubt) that they just haven't announced yet. -

Mother does the phrase 'spamming' not mean anything to you?

Helping others
[/ QUOTE ]
Good answer. But let me tell you there is only one person you can truely help.
[/ QUOTE ]
And that person is Hedley R. Lamarr (47) of Boise, Idaho, whose reign of corruption has left him a hollowed out husk of a man without scrouples, self-esteem or friends, but for whom there still remains a glimmer of hope that true love can turn him around and make him into a worthwile, happy human being, loved by his neighbours and respected by his peers and associates.
Or did you have someone else in mind? -

these badges have the potential to be inadvertantly discriminating in the sense that they reward something that cannot be learned ingame (the ability to write a good story)
[/ QUOTE ]
But come I13 this too can be learned in the game. -
Considering the name of the thread, has anyone suggested 'Mad Dog' Hall yet?

Thanks. Fancy posting in reply to my overall message, and not nit-picking on the fact that a badge (infact, why not mention Reveller/Celebrant for late subscribers, or Vip for people who don't own collecters, or blah blah) is neigh impossible to obtain?
Let me reprhase: The majority of the badges ingame are based on ingame achievement/skill/talent.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes, but as I pointed out, there does exist precedent for badges that are not related to in-game skill or accomplishments. The many event and aniversary badges, for instance, or the V.I.P badge. Any badges that rewards the ability to make good missions for the game do not, in any way, break with prior policy. Besides, they would constitute more of an "ingame achievement" than, for instance, Merrymaker or Allegiant.
[ QUOTE ]
NOT, RL: Writing ability. Heck, a lot of players aren't first language english speakers, are they going to be permitted to write in their mother tongue?
[/ QUOTE ]
Considering NCSoft (and Cryptic's) attention to localisation and their French and German communities, I would hazard a guess that the mission editor is fully localized and that missions can be sorted by language. -
[ QUOTE ]
AS things stand, the current badges are obtainable by everyone,

I don't consider these forums a place where I would discuss SM/BDSM.
[/ QUOTE ]
There do appear to be an unusual number of people who don't discuss that here, here. -
[ QUOTE ]
Well Positron wrote something about implementing a reward system so that people don't have to farm certain TF's for a certain recipe. If this is that reward system and if they actually mean that recipe I don't know, but it's possible.
[/ QUOTE ]
I suspect it works by you gaining tokens in parallell to normal salvage and receipe drops and, once you have enough, you can cash them in against rare receipes (and possibly salvage). You'd still earn most of your receipes and salvage through drops, but if you really, really need one particular receipe that you can't buy for money or inf at the auction house, you can buy it with tokens rather than spending all your time farming, waiting for the right drop. -

The mission creator is a bit naff really, as you are still gonna get the same old office layouts etc with everything you have fought in them before anyway, its something to keep the roleplayers happy

Oh ye of little faith! I, for one, welcomes the opportunity to rescue Statesman from the carefully manicured clutches of T3h J4ckh4mm3r and his coterie of synonym-to-happy-that-the-filer-doesn't-like freakshow. Or not. -

But paying for a temp power? That's just dumb (unless there's a badge with it, in which case it's still dumb, but then I'll do it)

"Buying the 30-day jetpack booster pack gives you the 'Barnum was right' badge on all characters." -
[ QUOTE ]
So far so good. I like.
I'm a little uncertain as to why anyone would pay $4.99 for a temporary 30 day flight pack, but heck, if idiots want to pay for something, then good luck to them.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, if it's a permanent temporary 30 day jetpack, I could see the point. (As in, all your characters get a 30 day temporary jetpack power upon creation, for as long as you play the game.) -

oh please let it be Boomtown's turn!

To hell with Boomtown (literally -- that would make for a fun zone), I want to see some more life in Dark Astoria. ... Well, not more life as such, I suppose, more ... ah, you know what I mean. -

Won't the Editor of The Paragon Times get suspicious if everytime theres a Hero Event message broadcast HIS ENTIRE STAFF makes unlikely excuses and disappear!

He probably would have, if he hadn't been a Nemesis automaton. -

I am happy with all the features of i13 just dont feel it looks as HUGE as we were promised.
[/ QUOTE ]
Pretty much my view as well -- although I get the feeling this is meant more as a sneak view than an overview, and they might have saved something big to be announced later.
At the moment, the list presented seems to involve a lot of work for Jay and the programmers, and not all that much for War Witch and other "content writers", and I can't see them having been allowed to sit twiddling their thumbs since I12. -

Cinnamon, Cymbals, Cereal ... I know it's a c-word. C*cough-cough* There. I said it. -
Getting the mission editor in I13 is big, at least in my eyes. Day Jobs sounds like nice fluff. Merit Rewards are okay, I guess, although I'm a little worried that "badges" are included among the things you can buy with it.
I am surprised, and a little disappointed, that the only new story content they've mentioned is "more missions in Croatoa", though. I'd have expected some kind of big event or turn in the ongoing storyline, but can't really see that from what they've listed. -
Paraprhased, since my memory is fuzzy. Random Hellion: "No, I'm serious. He actually got the purse."
