Quote:Heya Castle, can you clarify whether the Inherent Fitness powers will be slottable? Here's the only catch:
You'll have to respec to take advantage of it on existing characters.
Characters as they exist now, will only get the Inherent Fitness powers if they do not have any of them in their build. Conversely, if you don't you get them as Inherents and never get the option to select them as pool powers. -
Quote:Like I said, a low chance of super-knockback. I said 40% for minions but it could happily be lower. I've not played a warshade much, but unless you need literally every corpse you can find it shouldn't be a problem. What if my Warshade uses Quasar in a group of minions and they all get flung over the horizon? I wouldn't have any corpses near me to leech endurance off of.
Also, Warshade attacks could be flagged to not cause super-knockback.
Quote:even if it's only a tiny amount of knockup or knockback just for effect rather than distance. -
It's not just that I'll have more end, I'll have three more power picks too! Awesome news, and the panel's not even over yet.
By the way, is this not refreshing right? I'm still seeing the following for the most recent tweet...

To make defeating enemies feel more awesome...
One iconic action you can see in superhero fiction is a final blow that knocks the bad guy clear across the street and into a wall. Slamming people across rooms and into walls is something any superstrong character or person holding a massive energy rifle ought to be able to do.
We already have knockback in the game, and it's fun, but it could be better. There are also a lot of people who would NOT want to see more knockback ingame, as it messes up herds and gives melee a lot more work to do, chasing down knocked back targets.
I think we should have a chance (underling 80%, minion 40%, lt 25%, boss and up 10%?) that nearly any attack that defeats an enemy can proc some "super knockback" that knocks enemies much further than usual - possibly "over the skyline" further in the case of something like KO Blow. This would not affect herds or melee at all because the enemy would already be dead and wouldn't need to be chased. As certain exploding objects show, extreme knockback is possible in the game engine and fun to watch.
Obviously not every power would be suitable for this (for example, defeating someone with psi attacks) so you'd need to go though the powers list and flag those that can do this, but I'm pretty sure it would make me grin any time I saw it. -

Quote:Yeah but I imagine, and I'm prepared to be wrong here, that the focus for the future of the story will be 1) Praetoria, and 2) Incarnates.Unless they planing on adding them to the Lore of the game...
I guess Praetorian WW, Apex and Horus might show up, but I can't imagine why when they're barely in Primal earth, and none of them (possible exception - War Witch) really fit an Incarnates story.
I just find it unlikely that the devs have picked out these increasingly obscure characters to be a major part of I19, but I hope I'm wrong. -
This definitely piques my interest, as Blue King was always my favorite of the two comic runs. As nice as it would be to see new comics or the return of Apex and Horus, I'm not holding out for either though. The characters in particular are not really connected to the plot of the modern game.

It takes a little effort to unlock, and its first arc is nothing special, but the Slot Machine's (villain 30-34) second arc is one of my absolute faves.

Quote:I want to say, THIS is a concern for me. I'd tried a few times in the past to reset my password because I had forgotten it, only to be unable to do so because I couldn't answer the security questions despite supplying info that I KNEW was correct. I'm pretty sure that I never supplied security questions when I first signed up, and have never been prompted for any.Last time it took me two weeks to get authorization from NC Soft support staff, after they verified I was really me... by asking obscure questions which did not have actual answers for 90% of them since my account was older than most of their security measures. Finally I was allowed to spend a few bucks to buy an in game booster pack.
Fortunately I was able to persevere and try old passwords until I found the one it was, but still... I'd have hated to have been locked out my account.
OP: I hope you're able to get through to them. I recall my UK credit card being locked when I was temporarily loving in Japan, but I was able to get through to them eventually. -
I've found a Vigilante mission where the regular spawns are ALL void hunters.
So... who's managed this on their kheldian?
(I'm doing it on a scrapper, and I'm rather glad about that) -
Years ago there was a "Death Badger" event that involved level 1 characters racing from Atlas Park to the tailor in Founders, picking up certain badges in Skyway, Talos and FF on the way. It would be neat to see its like again.

Quote:They're pretty much all good, but at different things. Broadsword has your high burst damage. Claws, cheap attacks. Spines, AOE and ranged attacks. Katana, good all-rounder. Martial Arts, awesome animations. (awesomeness is more important than some people think!Thank you! Probably going WP then. But is dual-swords any good? Is there any superior choice?
) So on and so forth.
Not played DB much, but IIRC Dual Blades is pretty good, but a little more advanced than the others because of its Combo system, where using attacks in specific orders gets special effects. It can be a bit of a weak starter because you need to earn the right attacks before you can use any combos, and it's a bit heavy on the Endurance IMO.
Best bet, try lots of things and see what meets your expectations. None of my first few characters were my main. -
Quote:Willpower is very newbie friendly, being both durable and easy to manage - just turn on your toggles and go! Regeneration is also very good.Thank you! It's just one last decision to be made now, I'm making a dualblade scrapper but I don't know what the secondary powerset should be. Any tips?
The other sets are also good, but WP and Regen have the benefit of additional Endurance recharge. Dual Blades can be a little heavy on the endurance. If you want the additional END sooner rather than later, Regen is the way to go. -

Colour me disappointed about reflections too. It's especially obvious on certain buildings in NP, where the gold walls reflect my character but the glass doors do not. I'm hoping this is a work in progress, as no reflections were probably better than cheap ones.

Make characters on both. LOTS of characters on both.
Global channels mean you don't need to be wedded to a particular server. -
Quote:OK, whats happened is the installer is annoying and nobody's ever fixed a peculiar wrinkle it has. This has happened to me too.The piggs folder is 3,62GB and yes I seem to have 2 additional City of Hereos folders inside the main folder.
If you tell it to install in C:\, it will install in C:\City of Heroes\
If you tell it to install in C:\City of Heroes, it will install in C:\City of Heroes\City of Heroes\
the solution should be to copy everything inside your \City of Heroes\piggs, and copy it into \City of Heroes\City of Heroes\piggs
If I remember correctly, the next time you run the NA updater it should find those piggs in the "right" place and successfully verify them.
if you don't plan to play in the EU, you can delete the original EU piggs folder in the future and claim back 3.6GB.
Hope it works for you, and that you enjoy the game! -
Quote:Can you go into your original (EU) City of Heroes directory and tell me the size of the "piggs" folder please?Thanks for the tip, but when I try it, this happens;

Also, do you have a City of Heroes directory inside your City of Heroes directory? -
Quote:In your EU install, rename cohupdater.eu.exe to cohupdater.exeThanks alot! Will try to get ahold of an NA trial and download the NA client.
EDIT: Found it! Downloading now. I think I will be starting on Virtue (unless it's full or something).
EDIT 2: It's going really slow downloading the NA client, is there a way to convert my EU version to NA, or maybe there is a torrent around?
After you do that, running it will connect you to the NA servers instead of the EU, but it shouldn't need to redownload all your data. -
1. If I buy the Going Rogue Complete Set, I don't have to buy the other expansions right?
Right, though you still can if you items/powers that come with that pack and the month of playtime. All you need to play is Going Rogue though.
2. Is this a game you can solo all the way to the level cap?
Absolutely, there are very few missions (outside of Task Forces) that require a team.
3. I am going to assume that if that is true, there certain ones that are easier to solo with than others. Is that correct?
You CAN solo on nearly anything, but you'll have an easier time soloing on a Scrapper, Brute, Mastermind, Stalker or Tanker.
4. How is the balance? Are there certain (I have no idea what the term is for the different "combos") that are just pointless or nerfed to heck?
Balance is pretty good, and the best combination for you is likely to be what you enjoy playing the most, so experiment a little before settling down. Some power sets are excellent in team situations but horrible solo. (Forcefields is a prime example - my Ice/FF controller was great in teams but abysmal to solo, as Forcefields offers very little offense or self buffs, only team buffs)
5. In EQ2, (sorry) in order to get reasonably good gear, you HAD to group/raid. Is that the case here? (I'm ok with that.)
You don't HAVE to team to get any gear etc - reward merits are earned for doing many things, and you use them to buy the gear you're looking for. Team activities tend to reward more merits for your time spent though.
6. Are there tradeskills?
There is crafting, (inventions) but nothing you have to level up. As long as you have the recipe and salvage you can make any item you want from level 1. (and not be able to use it at level 1...)
7. Are there servers well populated? Any recommendations for a server if I tend to play between 9PM and 12AM PST?
EU player so can't comment, but Freedom and Virtue seem to be the big deal US-side. (watch out for queues) And with the recent launch of GR, pretty much everywhere's busy. -
Woah, thanks a lot for putting two of my arcs on the list (Bestest Radio Mission and Through Rose-Tinted Glasses.) Next time I'm on I'll have a look though the list and play a few.
If you're still looking for suggestions my third arc was a 45-50 Natural arc called "The Sleeping Star" (53951)
