People still do it. On Freedom tonight, we started the raid with 25 people. On the third bloom, the zone magically became full, and I could see about 10 people standing outside the goo just waiting for the mitos to go down so they could move in for free merits.

I didn't really disconnect, my client just crashed. Twice. Kept saying that I needed to put a disc on drive D. After the second crash I zoned in Rikti War Zone 2 and couldn't get back in.

Might go for another RWZ raid tonight if Hami doesn't take too long.

A costume piece might have that effect. An enhancement is invisible to other players; unless they have set bonuses that show in the info window, which these don't.

I find monster phase the most annoying part of Hami. Sometimes it can be over in 2 minutes, sometimes it takes over half an hour. Last night's raid was scheduled to start at 21:00 EST and we finished at 22:11 EST, so 1 hr 11 total minutes from scheduled time -- though we started killing monsters early because lots of people showed up (and good thing too, we spent half an hour killing monsters). The reward these days is either a random HO like before, or 53 merits. I take the merits.

Two things would improve my enjoyment of Hamidon a lot. One: Instanced version. I've grown to accept leechers are a natural fact of life on Hami raids, but I still would like to make sure everybody that disconnects manages to get back. Two: Replacing one or two of the waves with something different. Same thing 4 times is a bit boring.

We don't have Bind on Equip tech; that would require an enhancement to turn from tradable to non-tradable when we slot it, and I can't think of anything that does that (technically, slotting enhancements was a kind of bind-on-equip, but then respecs came along and let you remove stuff). Bind on Pickup, we already have the two types of merits, Day Job invention/tailor coupons, and now this. I'm certain we'll have more of that in the future.

Sorry; I didn't notice your edit until after posting mine. Maybe I'm an optimist, but I'm sure this will be eventually made a vet reward; we have the precedent of the sprints and the helmets, and the enhancements themselves have generic names that aren't associated with the store prepurchase in any way.

Only after the promotion was over. It was a store exclusive for Wal-Mart in September 2006, and the item pack was released in January 2007 when the "exclusive" period was over.

Neither of those were a store-specific promotion.

I don't. In the same post, Marcian says he got the pre orders in order to play Dual Pistols and experience the other treats. He got that, so he got the expected value out of his early prepurchase.

There you go. After level 20, any cheap IO recipe is stronger, and you get set bonuses with them.

TheOcho: PLEASE add that to the first post.

Pre-order: you place your order earlier, might or might not give them the money earlier, but you don't get the stuff until it's released, or maybe a couple of days earlier.

Pre-purchase: you pay immediately and get the stuff (or whatever is available at the time) as soon as you place your order.

In our case, the pre-purchase got you access to the bits of GR that were done at the time: DP and DS. Pre-orders don't get that.

Your pre-order bonus was to play DP and DS before anyone else. That's what you were told you'd get, that's what you got. You didn't get screwed. This is a different bonus, for other customers.

From real US census data. When you see a man named Samantha in-game, is because somebody named their baby boy Samantha at some point..
  16. The other preorder goodies (helmets and sprints) have become vet rewards. These will probably be the 90th month vet reward or something.

This would make the most sense; enhancements that are nice, a little too good even, but stop working after level 20. Then you pretty much have to go and buy "real" enhancements to replace them.

DOs have a 16.7% bonus, which would make this either 16.7% to each attribute OR 8.3% to each attribute (16.7% total). No idea why they'd specify the level of a DO.
  20. Guys, new characters get those enhancements, and they can't be traded or sold. They're nothing to go crazy about. You can enhance one or two of your powers more than you naturally could until level 20, but afterwards, the cheapest double aspect IO does the same and has bonuses, too. They're no big deal.

Edit: adding the contents of theOcho's later post so people who only look at the first page see it:

    What are these new enhancements?

    Will of the Seers:
+ Increase the damage of your power and reduce its recharge time by 16%.
+ Your power now has a chance to cause additional Psi Damage

    Clockwork Efficiency:
+ Increase the damage of your power and reduce its recharge time by 16%.
+ Your power now has a chance to additional Energy Damage

    Might of the Empire:
+ Increase the damage of your power and reduce its recharge time by 16%.
+ Your power now has a chance to knock down opponents

    Resistance Tactics:
+ Increase the damage of your power and reduce its recharge time by 16%.
+ Your power now has a chance to cause additional Smash Damage

    Syndicate Techniques:
+ Increase the damage of your power and reduce its recharge time by 16%.
+ Your power now has a chance to cause a Lethal Proc

How do the enhancement bonuses work?

Much like Invention Origin Enhancements, these enhancements provide an unchanging bonus towards the respective effects. This is affected by Enhancement Diversification like any other enhancement.

What about the chance to cause damage?

From levels 1 to 20 the enhancement provides a chance to cause a small amount of additional damage. After level 20 this chance will no longer occur.

I hope this clears any confusion up.

    Thanks,

You sure of that? My main character reports 5196 hours online (see above) which means almost 3 hours online every day for the last 5 years. I'm pretty sure I've not been online that long outside door locations. I took several other characters to 50 during the last 5 years.
  22. If you click on an NPC that starts with the letter "M", it'll tell you how many hours you've REALLY spent ingame with that particular character:

Yes, in this post. But since David posted that new "official" loading screens are coming up, I stopped making them.
