Shows how long since I haven't done it. It was 2 merits until early 2009.

Quote:Not every travel power... I did some speed runs of Eden back in Issue 9 and Issue 10, and the teams that ran it back then used Team Teleport for it. It was very confusing to be attacking the wall and then WHAM, suddenly ported elsewhere... but it made every run be over in under 10 minutes. They need to add a map while their fixing the horrible level range bug (WAI or not, it's still a load of utter *******s)
Trying to navigate those tunnels with ******* -every travel power Swarms, high con DE and miles to go is....not fun, shall we say. I have some choice words for the first, last and only Eden trial I ever ran.
Which is why it awards 2 merits now. Nobody's running it like that anymore, but it has an awful reward so nobody's tempted to do it either. -

This sale is unavailable to me because the store won't display anything for IPs from Argentina.

Better network stability, especially regarding high-latency connections.
COH is the only online game I play that crashes when it loses too many packets or they arrive out of order. It wasn't so bad when I started playing in Issue 4, but over time it got worse and worse. The worst case scenario I got in another game was a dialog that said "Network error. Reload map?" and I just "entered the mission" again. No game other than COH gives me a hard crash to the desktop because it can't make sense of the data it's receiving. -
It's a bug from Issue 5. Before then, you had to be in level range for a Task Force in order to be a part of it, not just to start it; and you would be dropped out of it if you became higher level for any reason. Higher level characters could only join a Task Force if they were exemplared into range by another character, and if the lower level "anchor" disconnected for any reason, the exemplared character would be instantly dropped because of going back to their natural level. Issue 5 changed this, and allowed players of any level (above the minimum, of course) to start Task Forces.
The relevant patch note is: "Any character above the maximum level for a Task Force will be automatically exemplared to the maximum level of that Task Force when they join, and will remain exemplared until they leave the Task Force." Eden got the "auto exemplar higher level characters" part of the update, but it never allowed higher level characters to start it.
So technically, yes, it's a design feature -- from way back when the game started, and before the Issue 5 change. -
* Individual fingers, toes, and good looking faces. I know they are adding normal mapping to faces soon, but that doesn't change the fact that it's a single unchanging texture. I very much liked the faces in STO.
* Dynamic lights for powers. I can set an entire room on fire right now, but if the room is dark, it stays dark. That just looks bad.
* Mission Architect with a map editor and no XP from mob defeats. On arc completion, reward the players with a big chunk of XP based on how long they took to finish the mission and the time they were actually active within it.
* Mission replay system with every mission out there, including those that aren't part of an arc, and Praetorian missions.
* Focus on a consistent and evolving storyline rather than the current mess where elements are introduced and then forgotten, or new things directly contradict older content without taking the time to make a rewrite to account for the discrepancy. -
I keep using the old one because Steam never got the new launcher, and if I call the NCLauncher manually, the next time I run the game from Steam it'll go nuts and start "fixing" files.

I just had a bloody power failure for the last two hours. Logging in right now, but you're probably done already.
-
I'll show up anyway, if enough people show up for MoBAF we can still run it. Looking at the signup page, though, it doesn't look like there's nearly enough people interested.

Quote:Open the case and clean the CPU fan. It's probably covered with dust and can't cool the processor well, which causes the processor to shut itself down to prevent a meltdown. Use SpeedFan to monitor your CPU temperature if you want confirmation of this being the problem.I kinda wish I could turn it off, my computer is 5+ years old, and after a few hours of playing will sometimes die(turn itself off with no error) now.

Quote:You can craft something else. You can craft every single Judgement power if you want, and just swap them in the "Equip" window. I have Barrier Invocation for teaming (with the 2x rez) and Clarion Invocation for soloing (mez protection), plus Seer pets (for fighting Marauder in MoLambdas) and Warworks pets (for debuffs with pretty much everything else).I really hope we can uncraft because I regret choosing Cryonic.
Just make one of each, try them, and see which one you like best. -
Hint: whenever a page is down, add "cache:" in front of the URL to see it from the Google Cache.

Quote:Install ImDisk, make a 4GB RAM disk, and run the game from there.3. Minimize/eliminate loading times.
I have a machine with 8 GB of memory, feel free to precache every adjacent zone and every mission that I have. -
Phantom Army. I can't believe nobody has mentioned it yet. Illusion controllers can tank dang near everything with it, each of their attacks taunting damage away from others. It causes pure chaos when dropped in a huge mob, but it's great crowd control.
-
I'm game for MoLambda and/or MoBAF, whatever we're doing. I'll be on Pocket D @ 8 PM EST.

I'm an illusion/empathy/mace controller, so I'm doing lots of things -- damage, buffs, healing, debuffing -- you name it, I do it. I've only gotten 3 common drops between beta and live (one of them in live, two in beta), a HUGE amount of uncommons, about ten rares, and four very rares.

Now that there's launchers for both platforms, is the old CohUpdater going to be replaced on Steam? Or is Steam keeping the old launcher?

Ninja Run makes the game "pay-to-win"...?
Sorry, I just facepalmed so hard that it caused a slight case of serious brain damage. -
Next time I'll demorecord the run. That way I can look at the demo file for the relevant emote command and *know* who is it that screws us up.

Way back in 2008, when the Real Numbers were added to the game, they caused a noticeable increase in network traffic for the game. Players with good connections wouldn't notice, but those of us with high latency connections (I'm in South America, so 400ms of ping is normal) or in slow connections (less than 512kbps) were unable to stay in places like Dark Astoria or join Hamidon / Mothership raids without overwhelming the connection with data and crashing the client.
I bugged pohsyb about this for quite a while during Issue 12 beta, and this led to the "Hide Buff Numbers" option. In case you don't know about it, it's located in the General settings, and prevents the game from sending you the buff numbers, or any buff data at all.
The improvement was very drastic; with the options enabled, network usage in a combat situation went from 30KB per second to a mere 5KB per second. Even players with 56k connections could handle that, so everybody was happy. Over the years, every time someone complains about a red netgraph, I told them about those helpful but not well known options, and it always had a positive effect. If you find yourself staring at a red netgraph often, go ahead and enable "Hide Buff Numbers"; you'll be glad you did.
Unfortunately, Issue 20 screwed this up a bit.
See, the option is available in 3 locations: "Status Window" (the panel under your own health and endurance), "Group Window" (for teams) and "Pet Window". By default, the League window still transfers all the buff data and numbers to your client, and there's no way to disable it.
This is particularly bothersome because the League window doesn't even show the buff icons while all the teams are selected; it only shows them when you select a specific team. So all that extra data is being sent for no good reason.
All that extra data being crammed on a high-latency connection greatly increases the chances of packets missing or being mixed up too much, which causes the client to crash. This has been a major source of frustration; while the League system is more than welcome and I can't wait to use it for Hamidon Raids and Mothership Raids, the extra data being sent (data that most players aren't going to see anyway because the League window won't show the icons by default) prevents me from using the feature if I want to stay away from crashes.
I've sent /bug reports about this, but I have a hunch that they're hitting someone at Customer Support that doesn't understand the problem, so the reports are just being dropped before they reach someone who can enable "Hide Buff Numbers" for the League window. I'm hoping that this topic will get more attention. -
If you're lethal only, you won't get much benefit out of it. Higher tiers only add a fire DOT to it.
I stack it with Poisonous Ray and deal psi and toxic damage -- so for me, it's awesome.
