  1. I concur with Leo, from my observation these threads tend to follow similar patterns and either die off before the story gets rolling or end up going on forever with no resolution like it's trying to be Inuyasha.

I also can't stand being a bit part. If I'm entering a story I want a share of the action and the glory. If I've been "called in to help" then I don't want to show up and just become another member some army of sidekicks.

  4. What I mean by exclusive are these ones where "you must know X character to participate".

I know that for some of them it makes sense, like why would Blightlord extend his vengance to characters he's never been crossed by (at least that is what I think Final Vengance is about). But these kind of RPs get annoying as they become more common.

Nothing kills the excitement of spotting a new RP like reading the rules and seeing that you're not invited because none of your characters have even met whomever is central to the story.
  5. There is a simple answer: a wizard did it.

So, does that mean you're back?

  10. Masterminds are annoying in RPs. You have a player who gets seven characters instead of one, which is already imbalanced. Then they expect you to fight their henchmen while standing out in the open, as if you're not going to do what anyone with a half a brain would do, ingame as well, which is to ignore the henchmen and go straight to beating the snot out of the mastermind.

Masterminds as an AT are just utterly flawed in my opinion, for the above reasons.

Now Masterminds are generally banned from my RP for two reasons. One is that they are too much of a pain in the [censored] to balance to be worth the time and effort on the part of the GM. Second is that, with the exception of robotics, if someone already commands a small army then what the hell do they need to go to school for?

Therefore student masterminds are not welcome in AH101.
  11. Real Name: Kathryn Sydowski
    Alias: Kathode
    Age: 17

    Base Archetype: Brute

    Appearances: Anti-Hero 101, Bright Star Children's Home

Kathode is a rough and tumble catgirl with a penchant for speed and the inherent ability to generate and project large currents of electricity. She is 5' 7" and approximately 130 lbs with a slender yet athletic build suited to quick and agile movement. Her muscular strength is not exceptional but it greatly enhanced by the electrical powers she possesses, making for attacks which hit hard but consume endurance quickly.

Kathode has very pale skin although the presence of eye color (silver) rules out albinism. On closer examination it is found that her skin is actually covered in very short, tightly packed hairs which form a layer of fur with the feel and consistency of velvet. She has a cat-like tail that is nearly as long as her torso and comes close to the floor yet appears to only assist in maintaining balance, showing no prehensile ability. She has a full head of black hair which is worn long and shaggy, out of which protrude two cat ears which can be manipulated for directional hearing. Her senses of taste and smell are exceptional. She can see very well in the dark but it comes with the expense of reduced color vision.

Kathode is extremely agile, has superhuman reflexes, and can run at speeds exceeding 60 miles per hour. That is the exent of her feline features and natural abilities, which has been present since birth.

Kathode was a consenting patient in a genetics therapy program run by Crey Industries under which she was meant to be changed to more resemble a normal human. However, the project director, who had supervised the experiments which had produced the heroes Synapse and Mynx, was intent on continuing his experiments with a different approach. He instead had Kathode infused with synthesized genes harvested from Mu descendants with strong magical powers over electricity.

In regards of the genes granting powers, the experiment was a success. The first thing that Kathode did upon realizing what had been done to her was to escape, hurting many Crey employees and causing much property damage in the process.

Kathode is capable of generating lightning in levels approaching 1.2 gigavolts and can utilize it in both offensive and defensive ways. By channeling it through her hands she can shock opponents with a touch or even zap them from across a room. She can produce bursts of energy that can strike several people at once and even send them flying. She can project a strong electromagnetic field around herself which can repel physical objects and incoming energy, even block psionic energy. Attacks which are not repeled are slowed down severly and do mush less damage when they hit. She can also drain energy from nearby foes in order to replenish her own. Due to a strong magnetic attraction to the Earth she is nearly impossible to knock down or lift off of the ground.

Kathode typically dresses in close fitting clothing so as to allow for maximum freedom of movement while providing little air resistance. She is very tomboyish and typically wears pants and shorts rather than skirts and dresses. She wears out shoes frequently due to wear and tear on their soles at high speeds. Her tendency to dress in black and white is mostly due to her color-blindness. She can see white and black and many of the primary colors such as red, blue, and yellow but has much difficulty distinguishing the shades in between.

Kathode is very impulsive and has a 'act first, think later' attitude. She can very easily get herself into trouble and relys much on her reflexes being quicker than those of her opponents to get out of danger.

So yes, Statesman is partially correct. Players dont want to invest lots of time into a group effort. But that is only one of many things that is making bases less than popular.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I especially don't want to be sacrificing my own influence to pay for something that I'll lose if I decide to quit the SG for whatever reason.
  13. I didn't want a giant base anyway, just a personal lair I could allow my friends into. I just wanted the Bat Cave, not the Justice League HQ.

I don't give a damn about raiding and items of power anyway, could we at least have a discount for a non-raidable plot?

As for teleporters, in CoH they can be useful but in CoV the ferries and helicopters are so close together that the teleporters are irrelevent. Having Pocket D as another shortcut makes them worth even less.
  14. Anna Nethema, dressed like a pirate, kicks the front door open and stumbles in holding a bottle of rum. "ALLRIIIIIGHT! LET'S GET THIS PARTY STARTED!"
  15. People simply abandoning RPs is annoying, especially for a GM when you're having trouble telling who is and who isn't still in the story.

And if you do announce your departure please do so in a brief exit story rather than leaving a character suddenly uncontrolled for everyone else to figure out what to do with. It's more courteous to write yourself out of the story.
  16. Name: Tatanya Ivanov
    Alias: Cobalt Stinger
    Age: 16

    Base Archetype: Corruptor

Appearances: Creeper's Inn (Cameo), Supervillain 101, Greatest Story Ever Told, Anti-Hero 101, Bright Star Children's Home (non-canon), Paragon Mall (Cameo)

Standing about 5' 4", Cobalt is a slim girl with fair skin and bright green hair that is almost always tied up in two large pigtails. She never goes by her real name, even among friends, and has a quite juvenile attitude despite her advanced intelligence. She is a highly adept mechanical, electrical, and computer engineer who is fully capable of maintaining her own equipment as well as make repairs and improvements to technology possessed by others. These improvements are rarely authorized.

She is not atheletic yet has somewhat above the average level of strength and endurance her body should possess. Her most obvious cybernetic enhancements are an artificial right eye which appears to see across the entire Electromagnetic Spectrum and a cybernetic left forearm which is always concealed under a glove. This appendage is capable of striking with great force and deals energy as well as physical damage.

The girl is always found wearing a skintight suit which appears to be bullet and knifeproof. When removed during a physical examination it was found that it had connections to numerous electrical and data ports implanted in the surface of her skin, which was also marked in many places by surgical scars.

Medical scanners have found extensive cybernetics within her body, from fiber optics to electrical wiring to implants to unidentifiable black boxes. One large device located below her heart and attached to her spine appears to be some type of compact power source.

Most of her weapons, which take the form of energy-based firearms, appear to draw energy from this internal source through some unknown method. A pistol which was confiscated during one brief detention was found not to possess a battery although it was fired by its owner just before she was captured.

She also possesses the power of teleportation and can jump distances of approximately 100 meters at a time, as well as teleport other objects to and along with her. She commands a host of robots which appear to take direct orders from her via some type of implanted radio. Scanners used in combat show that she practically glows on the radio spectrum, although all intercepted signals were encrypted using some unknown method.

Among her robot servants include a mobile flying force field generator refered to as Mr. Bubble, small drones called Seekers which are essentially guided flying buzzsaws, and miniscule crawling robots with flexible wire legs/tentacles called Octospiders. Their mistress has a demostrated tendency to anthromorphise machines and assign them whimsical names.

The most unusual thing about Cobalt Stinger is her ever-present backpack and its seemingly infinite capacity. The bag looks like a normal black backpack but defies the laws of physics by holding far more that it could possible contain. Many times she has been seen pulling out a rifle which was longer than the bag itself. (Even more unusual is that these events go largely unnoticed by others around her.)

Cobalt has no traceable past beyond one year previous to the events of SV101. She does not exist in any government records , appearing to have simply popped into existance. The unusually advanced nature of her technology and occasional foreknowledge of world events has lead some to believe that she may be a time traveler from the future. For what reason she is in this time, if that is true, is totally unknown.

    Don’t be a Lazarus.

    Well [censored] you too.
  18. No offense intended, though it certainly will, the first thing you should get is a GM who can write coherent sentences.
  19. The concept of a supervillain school was flawed to begin with. As BillBoy pointed out, the characters mostly didn't get along and it was just one long series of pissing matches in the end.
  20. There already was one but it ended. SV101 died a couple months back, it's a few pages down.
  21. Huh? Who's an English Major? I only know that I and at least one other are Engineering Majors.
  22. ((Don't mind me, I was only making a cameo appearance.))
  23. ((Probably waiting for something to happen, like I am.))
  24. As he walked out Cooke's Electronics he was passed by a short girl in green pigtails with a cybernetic eye who was walking into the store. She was run out of the store a moment later by an angry manager.

"You know you're not supposed to come back here! Not after the trouble you caused last time!" The angry man shouted at her.

"Not my fault your registers aren't EMP shielded!" Cobalt Stinger shouted back. "You said to demonstrate the problem with the item and I did!"

The manager would hear nothing of it and returned to his store. It looked like she'd have to go to Exarch Industries now.
  25. Great, someone has to go and spread the players even thinner across upteen bajillion concurrent rp threads.
