Arc Title: The Natural Earth
Author: @AegisWolf
Morality: Heroic
Length: 4 Missions
Description: You were sent to another world to fight against the Rikti, but soon your mission becomes a quest to save this world from a menace risen from it's past.
Quote:A decent story but it's marred by some really annoying custom enemies and could also use more details. I see that this is half of a two-part story, but if it means fighting more of these annoying foes then I won't be playing the second half.Mission 1: First things first: level ranges, learn to use them! They all have the same max level of 54 but the minimum level varies widly, which is going to be annoying for lowbie and mid-range players. The Captive Citizen in mission 1 ought to give the player a clue, he has plant hair so he's obviously not normal.
Mission 2: Ugh, LTs with Dispersion Bubble are really annoying to squishies. Aside from the +Defense, it also gives magnitude 10 protection against Immobilize, Stun, and Hold. Do the different bodybags all need their own clues? It's not like any of these names ring a bell. Maybe they're just too obscure.
Mission 3: Well hello, Fake Nemesis standing right at the mission entrance. Oh joy, a Minion who spams Web Grenade as well. Hey Researcher, how 'bout giving me a clue for rescuing you? I'm really tired of Spammy McWebGrenade by now and I've found a Fake Nemesis standing next to a LT with a Dispersion Bubble as well. Oh, turns out that he was the Assault Leader, is there a reason why he wasn't named that? Still haven't found the research files and the last room left to check is the one full of exploding lab apparatus, which is also full of bosses for some reason. Am I just getting hit with a bug, what's with all the bosses spawning in such small areas?
Mission 4: Ok, so one of the cops in the 2nd mission was signifigant after all. You ought to check Katherine's settings. She is often standing around doing nothing unless I take damage, so she's probably on Defensive. If she's meant to be helpful then she needs to be on Aggressive. She was pretty useless when fighting Nemesis as any time I managed to hold him she'd then go idle and stop contributing to the fight.

Seriously! I got more than halfway through the Mysterious General Z arc before getting the contact's phone and still the bar for her is barely 1/3 filled. How much damn filler does this woman have that she might have given me before handing over the arc?

Quote:Unfortunately, if they don't revamp the old content and just layer a bunch of new shiny stuff on top of it then the problem is still not fixed.I expect GR to be a huge leap forward in mission content in roughly the same way CoV was. They'll be able to apply the stuff they've learned since the CoV release, they'll have access to the MA toolset, and I wouldn't be surprised if we got things like braching dialoge trees & multiple choice endings.
Even if I'm totally wrong about all that, worst case scenario we get a giant CoV-sized pile of new story arcs and missions to run that should be at least as engaging as the other newer stuff like the RWZ and revamped Faultline. -
Changes made to "All Consuming":
* Rewrote briefing and send off for first mission removing the timed aspects of the mission.
* Added Engine Control Unit glowies two first mission. New objective to gain control over the engines and stop the cargo ship.
* Fixed the name of the Corrupted Husk in the first mission, it is now "Walking Corpse" again. -
Here I thought that this might be a thread about arcs you loved and those which you thought were totally overrated.
Anyhow, I'm annoyed that I'm going to be losing XP for taking Transference off of my Grav/Kin LT. Now that it's being fixed so that it actually does drain you endurance (55%!!!!) there is no way I want a LT being able to spam that on players.
Most evil is people who put mezz protection on critters. The only exceptions are Resilience (Mag 2 stun protection is pretty weak) and Grounded (Knockback and Immobilize) as those don't stop the most important control powers. Indomitable Will is the most evil since it blocks Fear and Confusion as well, making a critter nigh-immune to nearly all forms of Mezz and therefore utterly unfair for many ATs. -
Quote:Speaking of Billie Heck, I wonder how many players are even aware that he has two arcs. It's so easy to outlevel him before completing the first one even.I ran Billie Heck's arc today, on a character who had up to that point done Kalinda's arcs, the Mercy bank and 3 papers and a mayhem. By the time I was facing Guido and Emil I was already level 11, and they only go up to level 10. Similarly on Test with a new character I hit level 11 before getting to Blechley. They're not nearly as scary when they're yellow, and all 3, with the possible exception of Blechley, are pushovers compared to Frostfire.
True, but I wouldn't call those EBs any tougher. I've not curb-stomped the EBs in Port Oakes as easily as those in Faultline. Some of those EBs in Port Oakes are a bit unfair, like walking into a casino map and finding Emil Marcone right at the door. -
Issue 16 is nowhere near ready for release, tons of bugs and issues still exist and some could be gamebreaking for a lot of people.
-
Quote:Ran into that issue last night. I was 1 level away from getting my next Warshade arc and all the contacts I did have wanted to give me filler after filler. Fortunately Christine Lansdale gave up the General Z arc after only 1 mission, though her contact bar had only filled up by [ ] much.Teamed with a couple of friends, I'm magic origin so have the right contact at level 12 to get the fortune teller mission.
So I go to Trevor Seaborn and get in order:
Go see David Wincott
Hunt 10 CoT
Hunt 10 hellions
Hunt 10 hellions
Security chief for Boom/10 clocks in Boom
Hero Corps analyst
Security chief for Skyway/hunt 10 trolls
This is not what we were after, my friends gave up and logged half way through.
Please sort this crap out if you want people to actually play dev created content.
Problem is that by then my friends had to log off for the night.
Quote:If you look at low level villain content, it's really much better put together than the equivalent hero content. I expect a similar leap forward with the new low level Going Rogue content.
Quote:That's an issue with your computer or your eyes (not criticizing, some people have different sensitivities). I can see my character fine without squinting or alternately being blinded on both hero and villain sides.
Quote:On the original topic, I've been saying for a while now that blueside needs to be revamped. I just had a contact in Steel Canyon send me to talk to a Hero Corps Rep. In Kings Row. The contact network/mission progression needs serious pruning. I know GR is supposed to "reinvigorate the low-level experience", but I doubt a boxed set is going to fix any existing content, just introduce new content, which will likely be worthless to any (low-level) character who chooses not to switch sides.
Quote:Somebody else who doesn't adore Croatoa?
We have to form a club or something!
Also, Striga Island needed a hospital several issues ago. Come on already! -

I like the Motorcycle Boots as it's one of the few female options that doesn't have silly high heels built into it.
Quote:Same here. I also put a Tech Monocle over the scarred eye.If I use the female scarred face that has the closed eye, I cover up the lower half with a mask too. For some reason that face gives her a slightly open mouth, and it just doesn't look good to me.
Where you spying on me when I made my Earth Control/Earth Assault Dominator? -
I use Assassin Mask a lot as well. Mostly it's since often I don't like the expression on the lower half of the face and find it better to just cover it up so you can just imagine what it might be for yourself.
-
I have a lot of girls in leather miniskirts and I seem to be able to work the biker jacket or a trenchcoat into at least one costume slot on every character.
-
That alone is reason for me to avoid them. Apparently the Devs want you to spend 50 merits at a time on that stupid Curse Breaker temp, which only has 5 uses and you can easily run into more than 5 wizards in a single mission during that damn arc.
-
Yes, some of those Nemesis "click 2 or 4 bombs at once" missions are still in there. People run scanners so much in that range that if you missed the contact who has them then you might never see it.
-
Quote:Then we'd have a handful of arcs, most of which were picked in issue 14 closed beta, who are "worthy" and the thousands of other "unworthy" arcs. So, what if stories that were successfully chosen for Dev's Choice status were set to give full XP rewards? Such stories would indicate that they had met the Dev standards for being a worthy arc, and might possibly raise incentive to create AE material that met these standards.
<sarcasm>Yeah, that will end the complaining for sure.</sarcasm> -
Now if only they'd add the function to drop the entire remainder of the arc. Sometimes you just don't want to finish it, especially if it's an outleveled hero arc with several defeat all missions left full of grey foes.

Shame that the Cavern of Transcendence map is not available, the MA version wouldn't likely have that door with the 8 keystones which must be clicked simultaneously.

Quick review of an arc I heard about on Architect Chat last night.
Arc ID: 277277
Arc Title: A Portrait of the Artist as a Madman
Author: @Rodion
Morality: Heroic
Length: 4 Missions
Description: An artist who the cops have blown off as a nutcase asks for your help. Is her as crazy as he seems, or is he just a magnet for weirdness.
Quicky Review: This is a pretty fun and creative story but it's only a 4-star arc at this time. There are a lot of big and little details that keep it from getting that last star.Mission 1: The contact needs some info as to who he is when you click "Ask About This Contact". The hostage in the first mission doesn't give any story clues, one should be added. Also the boss in the first mission lacks dialog. I do like the idea that the monsters came out of the painting, does somewhat explain the Hydra mixed in with the Rularru. First mission should be set to be 45-54 like the other three missions to remain consistent.
Rating: ****
Mission 2: Needs intro pop-up text. Nice custom critters but they all need descriptions. Decently balanced, nothing difficult for my Dominator to handle. What was the purpose of that destructible statue? Maybe it should be a defendable object or summon an ambush or something. Wait, so 4 of the 5 intruders listed in the objectives were these Statues. No wonder the mission was taking long to complete, I was looking for more of those Carnie bosses. The clue at the end is utterly redundant, I already know that the warehouse was full of living statues.
Mission 3: "This lunatics" should be "These lunatics". Tom Witherspoon also has a typo in his description. Finding Amanda is a pain, just keep coming across Tom over and over. I don't see what "Discover Plot" involved finding the crate, that's something that the Carnie leader could have easily revealed and would cut out some tedious map searching. Killed the Carnie leader Persephone, it doesn't make sense that she defected as Carnies are enslaved to Vanessa DeVore by those masks that give them their powers. Still can't find Amanda! There she is, only found her because I got close enough to trigger dialog.
Mission 4: Ok, why would I send Amanda to the nightmare insane asylum instead of a proper hospital and what does Hallward mean that he first met the Circus there? Ok, so according to the clue he has been here before, and he is an Illusion Controller. Amanda ought to give a clue upon her rescue, especially since she appears to be normal again. It could be very easy to miss this painting and have to backtrack for it after you got all the way to the end and found the Circus Master. Maybe either make it an optional objective or put it in the last room and have finding it trigger the appearance of the Circus Master in that last room. This mission could use a longer debriefing, Basil has some explaining to do. -
-
Or you know, they could have simply implemented the reduced XP for groups without minions thing and seen how that went for a month rather than throwing unneeded variables into the problem.
-
"Work in Progress" is the default and all arcs were set to that when they added the tag in issue 15. Apparently the Devs didn't bother to set all the DC arcs to "Final" like how they are all permanently 5-starred.

Quick Review:
Arc ID: 297943
Arc Title: A Surprise Fit for a Baron
Author: @Baron Von Doffen
Morality: Heroic
Length: 4 Missions
Description: The World Organization Summit is in two days and the supergroup known as Global Heroics is in charge of security. Spread thin across the world, they require your assistance to stop their wicked counterparts from laying waste to the Summit and disrupting global relations.
Quicky Review: It starts out ok but has a lot of flaws. The arc assumes too much and seems to think that the player already knows who Global Heroics and the Rogue Nations are. Yes, you do get a clue at the beginning about them but no details on the villains that show up. The Rogue Militia are rather uninspired Malta clones and made me wonder when the real Malta would show up, I didn't know that they leased out their Hercules Titan robots. Devices on a minion is also really annoying. Then there is that boss "Harvester" who has both Fire and Plasma Shield (giving him around magnitude 13 protection to stuns, sleep, and holds) which is really aggravating for squishy ATs. Then there is the 4th mission, which makes no sense and I cannot find anything in the clues that indicates why I make this decision. Suddenly there are 5th Column everywhere and this Baron guy I've never heard of before who is also a pretty obnoxious EB. I wasn't motivated enough to try again after he wiped the floor with my Dominator, so I'm ending the arc without seeing the ending.
