I think it did fix the drop rates, I was getting several times as much last night than I was the night before. Actually had to make a few trips to unload between missions.

Sounds like another person who is oblivious to how much more these nerfs hurt non-farm arcs than the farms themselves.
Right, because all those dead farm arcs are going to magically vanish from the list now. -
Quote:People have been playing attention, but they also know that the Devs have an annoying tendency to measure "temporary" in terms of months, if not years. For those of you who haven't been paying attention, the devs have stated that this current XP situation was not the end-all, be-all of their options, just something they could put into place for now to stop the exploits and that the real solutions would come later once they can get them coded. All you need is the patience to wait it out, as ridiculous and enraging a concept as that may be to you...

Gotta love how the Devs didn't even bother to add any info to the critter creator UI to warn you of these things. There is no mention in game that going below Standard will rob you of all the XP, or that adding an extra power on top of Standard will add X% XP, nor does it say that Standard/Standard is only worth 75%.
If you didn't follow the patch notes when i16 was released, you'd have no idea of this until the 1-star ratings came pouring in. -
Quote:I can confirm that. That was the arc of choice before those "Play X # of Y Arcs" badges were removed. It was fast and pretty friggin' easy, especially as it could be stealthed with little effort and the critters were pushovers. The Butterfly Effect was the Dev's Choice arc that we badge hunters used to farm the DC badges, and a few others as well in the past isssues... I don't know if that was part of the reason that it was declared invalid, but as it could be completed in about 5 minutes for the whole arc, I wouldn't be surprised if it got flagged as a farm due to all the excessive numbers of play throughs; I know I did 100 times through it for the DC badge alone.

It used to be that the ambushes in Mayhems and Bank missions scaled more by the player, not the difficulty setting. As such, going to Malicious would make the regular spawns a bit bigger but ambushes would not be affected much.
However, now the ambushes are being affected directly by the "I am equal to X number of players" flag. This leads to regular spawns that are the correct size when set to 2X (which is what the old Malicious did) but the ambushes are now coming at at least triple the size they were before.
Before issue 16, I'd see an ambush of 2-3 mobs. Now I'm seeing ambushes of 6-8 at a time! I did a few LSSL paper missions last night and every time had to fight off about 30 ambush mobs before the mission finally ended.
That was all occurring at this setting: 2 Players, +0 levels, bosses allowed.
Additionally, it'd be nice if there was a subsetting for Bosses that made sure that there will only be a boss at the end of the mission. I like having a boss fight at the end but a lot of my squishies don't enjoy running into a boss every 20 feet even when set to X1 players. -
Geez, what happened with the ambushes in mayhem missions?
I was doing Founders Falls, one I have run hundreds of times by now. Set my diff to be 2 players, +0 levels, bosses on. The equivalent of Malicious (diff 2) on the old system.
Well, all the normal spawns of PPD and DE are the normal size, however the ambushes are WAY bigger. As much as double to triple times in size. Before I'd see 2-3 Longbow/PPD, tonight it was anywhere from 6-8 at a time.
I know there are not stacked ambushes, these are coming at the same rate as before issue 16 and I can often see where they spawn from, they're all appearing at once. -

Yep, just like with Ice Assault it is not possible to get the default color for Energy Assault back. None of the tintable options have anywhere near the brightness of the default, not even this so called "Bright" Energy.
I want my old red energy blasts back! -
Energy Assault is broken again. Instead of red energy blasts it's defaulting to blue ones.
The good news is that I can fix it without having to wait who knows how many weeks/months for a patch.
The bad news is that I have to PAY to fix it on every single costume!
Of course after my experiences with trying to edit Ice Assault, I'll be lucky if I can get anywhere close to the real default color. -
Quote:Yet on Standard a custom critter has 3-4 times as many attacks as any of those which you mentioned, has higher stats for damage, defense, resistance, and debuffs, yet now gives less XP despite being more dangerous.Oh yes and why do you think they nerfed the xp for those? Easy kills, little risk. They knew that simply nerfing boss and lieutenant farms wouldn't be enough. As people would just make freakshow farms and get extra xp from the self rezing mobs. Mito farms were also insane xp with just having a controller or 2 to hold the mobs. Maniac slammers were also very much limited to only 2 attacks.
Farmers always get everything just like pvpers usually get powers nerfed.
And now for a custom critter to give 100% XP you need to give them powers like Rage, Build Up, Total Focus, and Knockout Blow. All of which are much stronger than the non-custom versions.
In the meantime, pansy Council still give full XP and are much less dangerous. Which do you think people would rather farm? How did this fix anything?
People weren't farming the customs to begin with, which is why this was such a pointless change that hurts the farmers very little and non-farm arcs tremendously. -
Oh come on Devs, of all the badges that you toned down the requirements for you didn't do it for Infiltrator? Stop forgetting that Villains not only need it to unlock a contact but that they don't have that arc with all the 7th Gen Paragon Protectors like heroes do.
Guess I won't be getting rid of that old PP farm anytime soon. -

Quote:No arc promoted here has made Dev Choice. The ones added since issue 14 went live have all come out of the blue and been pretty much unknown before they got that status.Am I correct in noting that they didn't add any new Dev Choices to the mix with I16? I'll admit to not having memorized the list, but I would have definitely noticed if any of the arcs I see promoted in this forum (dozens of which are better than the current Dev's Choice lot) had been added.
Before I say anything else, I think I'll bite my tongue and wait for some replies.
It was invalidated somehow and he pulled it down to fix it. Maybe he was fed up with all the bickering over DC and didn't ask to have it reinstated. -
Quote:<sarcam>Yeah, because all those Freaks, Mito, and Maniac Slammer farms were really only full of custom critters this entire time, which were only used for farming and not being used in legitimate arcs.</sarcasm>And for the record, boss farms and lieutenant farms were not for stories and thats really all that was nerfed in AE.
A lot more story arcs got trashed by these nerfs than farms did. That is why so many authors are angry. -
Quote:Another reason to give players the option to disable the custom coloring on their client.Just had my first full teaming since I16 last night, and I've seen a negative. Most of the team had picked BRIGHT colors with over-saturation, and with all those buffs on ever character and ever effect, I found myself literally getting sick. My eyeballs were actually hurting. I'm guessing the effect might not be so bad in open air missions, but in tight quarters fighting it was painful. Might do for some to keep in mind that sometimes a little subtlety in color is actually a good thing.

You're operating on the flawed assumption that because someone doesn't like one part of the game that they must therefore hate all parts of it.

Grrrr...
Well, the only two sets I have any interest in customizing are Ice Assault and Earth Control/Assault. Since I haven't had time to roll the Earth Dom yet, I went to work on my old Ice Dom.
And found it to be pointless. All I wanted to do was change the models on Ice Sword, Ice Sword Circle, and Ice Slash to all be the same so that I'd be rid of that annoying thing where each attack changes the size of the sword.
The problem is that once you change away from the default ice sword for that power, you lose all the cool bright shinyness that ice sword had. The color tinted version is so friggin' dull looking and there is no way to get the colors anywhere near as bright and shiny as the default weapon model. -

Quote:Personally, I don't care to team with the sort of players who would rather be farming. They're welcome to it. And when they get bored in a week (because they "beat the game") and move on to the next new shiny, I'll still be here.Quote:I agree with this line of thinking. The people that are going to want to strictly farm are not going to be the people lining up to join normal groups.
Of course that means the powerleveling leeches are screwed, but they don't deserve any sympathy.
Quote:Aha, this could explain why my custom soldiers are producing 0xp. So much for being able to customize power choices.
By taking out Slug and replacing it with Full Auto, I've apparently somehow neutered my soldiers, making them too weak to be worth xp?
Do these Devs actually THINK about things before they change them?
