  1. If anyone wants to check them out, I submitted the following arcs.
"The Amulet of J'gara" (1709) for Best Hero Arc
"MacGuffin Delivery Service" (1567) for Best Villain Arc
"All Consuming" (261148) for Best In-Canon Story
"A Show of Hands" (296884) for Best Original Story
"The Portal Bandits" (3326) for Best Enemy Group
  2. Lazarus

    The Lazarus Arcs

    Changes made to "All Consuming":
    * Put the clues into a more consistent order.
    * Fixed the combat options on the allies in mission 2, they were not fighting much of the time.
    * Corrected a few lines of dialog.
    * Tested arc for issue 16 compliance before submitting for "Best In-Canon" arc.

Changes made to "The Portal Bandits":
    * Corrected a few lines of dialog.
    * Addressed issue of Crey Scorpion Tanks not spawning correctly, only way to do it was to remove all Crey except for the Scorpion Tanks.
    * Rebalanced Nagans to get a good compromise between reward and difficulty. Overall they have become a bit easier as well.
    * Tested and certified arc as issue 16 compliant in preparation for submission into the "Best Enemy Group" category.

Changes made to "A Show of Hands":
    * Same adjustments made to the Nagans.
    * Removed 1 destructable item from mission 1 to stop the problem with stacking destructables.
    * Added damage dialog to Amanita Infernis in mission 1.
    * Tested and certified arc as issue 16 compliant in preparation for submission into the "Best Original Story" category.

Changes made to "Of Futures Past":
    * Nagan changes apply to this arc as well.
  3. I've submitted:

"A Show of Hands" for Best Original Story

  5. I was hoping that Stalkers getting Broadsword would mean that they were adding the KoA sword to the custom options. It not being there is one big reason that I didn't end up making a BS Stalker.

And folks that only occasionally play arcs, or folks that might be thinking about playing them, certainly won't this weekend.

Thus, the MA will see considerably less action this weekend than usual.
Exactly. MA will still be there when Double XP is over, it's just a shame that the MA Contest is during the same time so it won't be effective trying to use it to advertise your arcs during this period. Most people are going to go for the double XP content instead.

It'd have worked better if the contest submissions had finished before Double XP weekend, that double XP worked for MA arcs, and that they then posted a list of all the submissions for people to check out themselves.
  7. No wonder that pistol never made it into production, some idiot forgot to include a trigger!

What's the purpose of this change? Farming prevention? Reduce the number of tickets going to the players? 160 for a single mission (even one on a very small map) seems... low. Two bronze rolls worth of recipes or 20 pieces of common salvage is less than what I'd expect running through a normal mission.

Doesn't this act as a deterrent for players who want to run normal player-made story arcs? I like playing with high spawn counts for the rewards. I'd rather play through legitimate stories and actual arcs for my tickets, but this change gives me a rather forceful nudge toward large farm maps with click-to-complete objectives if I'm actually interested in earning tickets. I'm still fighting through hordes of enemies on a smaller map - you still have to defeat mobs to earn tickets - so it's not like players can bypass the risk for their rewards by choosing a smaller map, can they?

Why can't I have both the experience of running an actual arc and the full rewards for the mobs I'm defeating?

If I have to choose, I guess I'll stick to farm maps. Player-made arcs can be hit-or-miss, but tickets are always good. I just wish I didn't have pick one or the other. ::shrug::
I remember during issue 14 when I made some new characters and could rely on a 3 or 4 mission AE arc to give me enough tickets to buy a rare salvage piece, which I would then sell on the market and use to finance my DOs.

Now I can go through 5 missions and not even have 400 tickets.
  9. This issue has been occurring for months now. Melee sets seem to be very susceptible to it.
  10. I would like to see the issue of custom critter XP addressed before anything else. The current system that sets Standard/Standard at only 75% XP/Inf is unnecessarily hurting arcs that make use of customs and isn't giving players any incentive to play these arcs when non-custom critters are giving full XP and are on average less challenging to fight.

Long enough that I can fire off a Neutrino Bolt once the Glowy-Beachball-of-Doom is underway and they'll both hit the target at the same time.

    Yo!

Don't worry, by the time he's halfway through junior year he'll be all nice and bitter again.

Yep, I tried once to set up a Civic Squad like encounter where the number of bosses would scale based on the team size, so the detail called for an All-Boss group. Problem was that it would never spawn all 8 individual bosses, instead often you'd get duplicates of a couple of them and some would not show up. Had to scrap the idea.
  14. I've decided to submit "MacGuffin Delivery Service" (#1567) for Best Villain Arc.

I'm curious as to how many submissions there have been so far, the deadline is coming up.

    The Lazarus Arcs

Changes made to "MacGuffin Delivery Service":
    * Mission 1 now features a proper Family ambush after the Tsoo are defeated.
    * Shortened the interact time on a lot of glowies.
    * Rearranged a number of objectives to put clues into a better order.
    * Amanita Infernis now has damage dialog.
    * Made some grammar and story adjustments.
    * Tested and certified arc as issue 16 compliant in preparation for submission into the "Best Villain Arc" category for the official contest.

Changes made to "The Amulet of J'gara":
    * Rearranged a number of objectives to put clues into a better order.
    * Added more damage dialog to the allies.
    * Chris McNeil now betrays you against his will after the big reveal in the 4th mission.
    * Added a new minion to the mix. Abyzou is an Archery/Dark Armor foe, looks rather like a demonic cupid.
    * Tweaked the allies in the final mission to be a bit weaker. I cannot drop them below Boss-rank or the AV they are meant to help with will slaughter them in seconds, but I can remove a few powers so that they don't do so much of the work for you.
    * Tested and certified arc as issue 16 compliant in preparation for submission for the official contest, submitted for "Best Hero Arc".

Trollop = Female Troll, preferably of the sexy kind.

Vikki Vandale is a level 50 Mace/Willpower Brute on Virtue. She enjoys hitting things with hammers, wrenches, and baseball bats. The more expensive the better. She's about 5'6" and hits like a truck, as can be seen in the 3rd mission of AE arc #3326 "The Portal Bandits".

The search system is still set up in an ***-backwards fashion even after the improvements of issue 15. Let's start with that useless "Arcs My Level" option that is hidden away and how it doesn't filter out all the arcs made by people too lazy to not set their arcs to be 1 to 54. It should be allowing you to set a level range and be right there in plain view when you start searching like it is for the Market interface.

That will be useful when it stop giving me the same arc 4 times in a row, then a different arc, then that first arc 2 more times, then a few arcs, then the first arc 3 more times, etc...

Exactly, it's like baking a great cake and then not having anyone eat it. Most creators take joy in sharing their work and watching others enjoy it.

If they don't know that the arc exists then they cannot search for it. Since not most players don't read the forums or monitor the Architect channels, search is the only way for most people to find arcs. As it stands, the interface is so poorly designed in the first place that most don't bother or are not even aware of the addition functions.

At the very least the front page should be a randomized list of 5-star and 4-star arcs with more than X number of ratings (for random example, 20). Dev Choice and Hall of Fame should come after, or better yet be on a separate tab. If it would cause too much overhead to randomize the first page every time someone opens search, maybe just compile the list every day instead and make it the spotlight secton.
