A lot of 50's already do play AE arcs, this change would only make it so that non-50's would no longer want to play them. It would fix NOTHING.

No, we can very well hate on the Devs for coming up with really dumb solutions that have obviously not been thought through.

I'm becoming rather glad that these people are game developers and not engineers. I'd hate to see what their solution would be for fixing a road with a few potholes in it.

Some people just cannot comprehend that in a video game there is a lot more to a story arc that just story. This breaks the gameplay aspect of the story arc, which in turn for many affects the story aspect. There is a balance between the two that is needed for a story arc to achieve it's potential.

Your story arc can have the greatest story ever, but if the gameplay is tedious and the player is getting rewarded less than they would in another arc with a weaker story but better gameplay and rewards, which do you think most players are going to chose to spend their time on and tell all their friends about?

Remember that you're writing VIDEO GAME CONTENT, not a short story. If you just want to focus on the later that's what the RP forum is for.

Most authors try to strike a balance, and heavy-handed nerfs like this keep screwing that up while doing little to hurt the farmers that they target. And that gameplay aspect is extremely important if you want your arc to appeal to as many players as possible. It's been pretty obvious time and time again which most players care more about.

Someone tell Kalinda then that she's been breaking the rules for the last several years, having a mission with 6 Wolf Spider allies in it.

And this retarded nerf doesn't make the distinction between buffbots and combat allies at all. Hell, it doesn't tell the difference between battles with friendlies in them and buffbots either!

Of course they trademarked CoH 2 already. Why would they wait for some troll to snatch it and then try to make a profit by selling it to them when they finally do decide to use it? Companies trademark a lot of stuff that they may never use in the near future, just in case.

Yeah, I can see how story arcs are far far worse off than the exploit farms.
Sorry Fred, but you're in a very small minority. Most players are not going to bother even trying AE arcs if they give crap XP, and even if the story is the greatest thing since sliced bread (which is still a debated topic) they still won't bother to play it a second time if they will get no reward for it. I've written 8 arcs but I wouldn't bother playing AE at all if there was no XP, not when I have so many more rewarding things to do with my limited playtime. If my characters don't advance and nobody wants to come play the AE arcs with me (removing the social aspects of playing an MMO) either then there is no point in playing them.

And you are damn naive if you think this did anything to stop farming, the actual farmers have probably already rewritten their arcs by now. The only people this hurts are the legit authors.

Hey Devs, is this a bug?
I just saw Venture's post and have to add that my example did also have 3 friendly boss spawns who are there to add flavor when the map becomes overruns with enemies who were waiting to ambush you. Apparently they are counting as well.

    Still friggin' blows!

Adding another example, a level 50 mission with 7 minions to rescue and then fight the EB who captured them. Even before I got to the first ally I was getting less than 1000 inf from each Arachnos minion. Dr. Aeon (the EB) only gave 2000 inf, and the bonus tickets for completing the mission? 6.

Yeah, SIX tickets for clearing a large map.

  10. This is friggin' obnoxious.

Quick test with a level 40 arc.
Minion inf in mission with no allies: 2362
Minion inf in mission with 1 ally who I have not even rescued yet: 824

WTF! How is that even REMOTELY reasonable?

Devs can never hit the target right.

MA Allies are not a problem, what is an exploit are allies who cast constant buffs like Sonic Dispersion and Dispersion Bubble or use Leadership (certain Longbow bosses) but are set to not attack at all. What they should be doing is FINALLY coding it so that a critter who has not been rescued or is set to never attack does not turn its toggles on in the first place!

All this does is screw over a lot of arcs just because they happen to have an ally in it, even if you don't rescue the ally.

    Way to go Devs.

Rewards in Mission Architect missions that contain more than one allied critters will give progressively lower rewards for each additional allied critter in the mission.
And you just inadvertently killed a bunch of legit missions with this. Does this XP decrease apply just from having the critter inside the mission or does it apply when you rescue the ally? Now people are going to be ******** even more if you include an optional ally, even if it's for story purposes.

'Cause a lot of people have been waiting ages for one or both of those sets and by making them available NOW they get a large number of sales before the expansion is even out.

And I wanted my Pistols NOW!
  14. Mine fit that then, the first two are a case of the contact calling you since you're a level 40 hero with a reputation for getting things done and the other two are a case of you happening to be the first one on the scene of something that turns out to be much larger.
  15. The following arcs are heroic and ought to fit the bill.

    The Portal Bandits (#3326) - Lvl 40-50
Breaking the Barrier (And Putting it Back Together) (#347029) - Lvl 40-50
    All Consuming (#261148) - Lvl 20-25
    The Amulet Of J'gara (#1709) - Lvl 25-33

    Ambush meh!

"A Show of Hands" might fit the bill, quite a lot of ambush triggers in every mission.

    AE xp fixed?

It was mentioned in the Issue 17 announcement that they are looking at improving how XP is handled for custom enemies in AE. We'll see how that goes.

Plus AE Tickets are much more convenient for getting many pieces of hard to get invention salvage, it's nice being able to buy the exact rare or uncommon item you need right here and now without dealing with often overinflated market prices.

Indeed, even with 8 slots making a 1-mission "arc" (can you even call it an arc?) seems like a waste of potential when I have more ideas for 4/5-mission ones than I have room for.

    Anyhow:

    One Mission Arc

    Two Mission Arc

    Three Mission Arc

  19. I'm rather fond of my Nagans, I've used those alien amazon lizardgirls in four arcs so far. Quite a few have been remade as player toons outside of AE.

Serves you right for trying to solo a level 35 arc with a level 28 Blaster. A Corruptor or Dominator, especially of the proper level, should have no issues with difficulty whatsoever.

When I set a level range on an arc, I really do mean that you should be of at least that level. Complaining about stock mobs is rather silly as well when nothing tougher than a boss appears and you deliberately handicapped yourself.

Neither will anyone else's arcs, as custom mobs are nothing but window dressing. I can think of a few features that might warrant an increase in the limit but we're not getting any of those and even if we did people would only use the space for more customs anyway. The new limit isn't going to improve any existing arcs and will probably make a lot of them much, much worse.

Heard just after inventions were added to the game.
"They vibrate, I like things that vibrate."

Apparently "they" meant "insect wings" but the rest still sounded pretty bad.
