  1. I'd like to echo a lot of the things I've seen in this topic, but if I took a moment to mention all of them...that'd be a lot of echos. I see many, many cool ideas. One I haven't noticed, though, and that I'd certainly like to see, albeit rarely, would be the occasional Super among Malta's ranks. Given that they're all about subjugating those with super-powers into mandatory service, either with threats, bribes, brainwashing, what have you, one would think that there would be more than just two super-powered types showing up among their ranks from time to time.

I tried to do an arc based around this, even, back when AE first hit, though it came off as a bit too much of a "fight my custom bosses" arc, so I scrapped it.

Unless Pitstop has different parents in Primal, doesn't that problem sort of extend across the dimensional barrier? Or are you referring to someone else?
  3. Allowing Rulu-Shin to count, or, heck, just tying the unlock to the many, many new Rularuu-related Signature Story Arcs both seem fairly reasonable to me.

(Edit: I've run it like 20 times and haven't gotten threads, but then I haven't ever gotten threads, ever.)
I seem to recall hearing that the weighting is what's broken. It would reflect my experience, at least; I've seen nothing but Commons. Granted, that's just me. But it doesn't encourage me to want to try and finish either.

Honestly, it really isn't that bad. It's not a very "good" trial in my book, but it definitely isn't as bad as, say, TPN. Though since the reward table is also apparently bugged at the moment, I'd say it's still not worth finishing yet. That's actually a bigger problem than the difficulty for me, even now.

If they have to force people to run it, they must have designed it poorly anyway.
And given the most common reaction seems to be not to bother to complete it...
  7. It does work. If it didn't, I wouldn't play the game at all. Not that I'm a raging team-hater per se but I see teaming as an "extra feature" rather than a primary draw.
  8. I have two main beefs with the Synapse TF. One is that it's broken into several phases of utterly redundant missions. If they cut all the "go to Warehouse X, now go to Warehouse Y" bits to "just Warehouse X", it'd knock off an easy half the missions and feel a lot less tedious.

The second beef is just that I really hate the Clockwork as a villain group. The high resists at low levels, this colossal amount of time waiting for Gears to finish their spawning animation, their tiny hard-to-click-on sizes, and the fact that with the exception of the King, are sort of by definition, lacking in personality as a faction (granted, the King himself is pretty neat), they're just un-fun.

Hmm, I see it as the opposite. "32,547 agree that would be a great name for a superhero! It'd be perfect if it weren't taken!"

Daughter of Dusk - Double meaning, as this is the daughter of another character (Duskvolt,) and IC-wise, she prefers "hunting" starting at dusk. Dark/Psi Dom.

It's Demon Time - ok, this one's one I picked up just to see if I could, and because I found it amusing I actually could. Three guesses as to the power sets.
I don't mean to pick on you personally, Bill, you's good people, but since you stuck your neck out, I'd argue though that while half of those my as work as "game names" but...maybe a little less impressive as "super hero names".

And I think that's the core problem. I have little trouble thinking up names per se. I have a hell of a time thinking up names that fit my criteria for a "good name" given the theme of the game. Namely, any time I try to name my characters, unless I have a specific concept reason to ignore it, I ask myself, "Could I see this on a comic book cover blurb?" If the name would fit into a phrase like:

    INTRODUCING NAME HERE!!!
...BUT IS HE FRIEND OR FOE?!

...it's essentially a failure in my book. And yes, I myself have a big list of failures, too, I'll grant. But when I jump on teams, I tend to see most others failing the criteria, too.

That said, I'm partially just Devil's Advocate-ing. I do generally come up with something eventually, even if it takes me an extra hour on the character creation screen, and I think the commonly suggested Name@GlobalName would be generally even more immersion breaking. Though if it were done with the option to hide everything but the character name...well, I just can't argue against it if only because I don't see a disadvantage, per se (other than "development time could be better spent elsewhere", I guess).

Tyrant kinda nuked the place. Not just Nova, either, as far as I can tell. The Imperial City is totally visible from the Magisterium in Praetoria normally...can't recall seeing it after the blast. That would seem to indicate that, y'know, there's no more Praetoria.

If there's no more Praetoria, there's no more Praetorian people. Yes, there are people of Praetorian descent that evacuated to Primal earth and whatnot, but unless someone's got a rather sizable chunk of land that nobody wants sitting around Primal Earth, they're pretty much going to have to integrate at this point.

I guess we could stick them on the moon, or something, but what are the odds that the Battalion just kinda blows it up so players can't ask for a moon zone anymore?

You do more to topple the regime in the loyalist arcs than in all of First Ward. About the only thing that gets resisted is Goatee-Witch's "plan" to kill you, which is pretty much just "oh, you're here, and I'm full of rage and stuff, so die I guess".

Given that i23 ends with there not really being any more Praetorian people, I don't think it's too big of a worry regardless.

Well, I know for a fact you haven't done the Warden arcs, and now I can generally guess you haven't done First Ward, because...nothing in First Ward's story is even remotely related to fighting Tyrant's regime.

I generally agree. That's basically why, personally, I got so annoyed at First Ward (and why I'm utterly uninterested now in even trying Night Ward), too. Four different, separate arcs, separate viewpoints to see Praetoria. Then First Ward comes with one, that ties into none of them. It's less a new Praetorian zone and more a Croatoa revamp with a couple of Praetorian-character cameos.

Eh, the worst part of the Magisterium was how boring it was. I expected the fight with Tyrant to a be a bit more epic than a poorly-explained anticlimax battle. And yet, it was still probably the high point of the Issue in terms of new features.

I hope there's something I like. Really, after i23, I don't think there's much reason to raise my hopes any higher than that. If i24 can manage even one feature that really excites me, it'll be an improvement.

When they announced new animations for MA and Super Strength at the time, I was thinking "wouldn't it be nice to see that punch in there somewhere"...then it indeed got added, but to the one attack that's already the coolest looking one in the game!

It was a very "monkey's paw" moment.

Wasn't Starscream, y'know, actually half competent, though? He was just...easily sidetracked. Maelstrom's entire power is summed up as "he can use the Mediport system without actually having to flatline first".

Honestly, I see nothing wrong with asking, per se. If I'm looking for a raid, I'll usually ask in broadcast first, in case one's already forming. If I get no reply, I'll either (a)do missions in the area, and hit broadcast in between after every couple (in case one started forming while I was on a mission map), or (b)start my own if I'm not the only one to pipe up.

However, if someone's standing around in the zone itself, then the chances of them missing a call-out seem rather slim.

Serving Tyrant in any capacity would imply Maelstrom was, y'know, competent at something other than getting his tail kicked and running away. I think that's why Tyrant keeps him around, really.

This has sort of disappointed me, to be honest. Positron says this is a major event, one worthy of its own issue release, and all that, and it ends up being a minor sidenote to i23, with most of the changes being just simple copy/pastes, and nothing in the game world really changing.

Also, Devs, please add me to the list now of people who want vehicle travel...
  24. And now that I've seen the actual movie...well played, Arcanaville. Well played.
