As it's been explained to me, it stems from the fact that the Arch-Villain equivalent, "Hero", didn't exist until City of Villains came out, and the "Rescue Statesman" mission is hella older than that. States was the only ally NPC meant to be that powerful, so he just got stuck with that classification, and it was never fixed later when the alternative became available.
I've also heard it used as evidence that we're actually rescuing Tyrant in disguise, though. Which'd kinda be awesome. -
Quote:I'm the opposite. It's supposed to hit single digits where I live tonight, and I think it's my first time, in my 30 years here on this Earth, that I've been present for such a condition. And of course, I'm comedy gold for the locals. The amusement value of people complaining how COLD it is (and "How can you wear a T-shirt, it's FIFTY THREE DEGREES!") doesn't lessen much.
Gimme six months, and we'll see who's laughing! -
System qualms notwithstanding, I don't really think so lowly of our devs to assume they'd release a patch this major after only a weekend of testing, especially when that weekend was the one everyone was busy with their expees on live.
Unless, of course, they're trying to sneak in something else. If it goes live tomorrow, that means guaranteed stealth nerfs to accuracy and Regeneration! Start your DOOOOOOOMing now! -
I'd planned to focus on getting my Peacebringer to from the mid-40s up to 50, just to say I have one of every AT. Didn't get around to it.
I'd also planned to work on my namesake character, who's still hanging back at 33, and could have used the love. Didn't get to that, either.
I started playing a Claws/Ninja Stalker who I'd gotten to level 8 previously, and got completely carried away seeing how high I could get him in one double XP weekend. Ended up focusing on him completely, and in 2 nights, 2 days, got him from 8 all the way to 32, entirely solo, now that I think about it, too. It wasn't the most amazing 2XP weekend I've had, but in a way, it feels like one of the biggest achievements. -
Picked it up this weekend, good stuff. The store owner mentioned he'd enjoyed it, too, but when I mentioned Common Grounds, he hadn't heard of it, so I took a moment to advertise. He usually recommends stuff to me, felt good to reverse-evangelize.

Ewww, gross, gross, gross. I'd really hoped this whole Well thing was going to eliminate the "two rares" bit that had been posted before. I shouldn't be surprised, but that's what I get for trying to be optimistic. That's just really ridiculous. Everything else, including the Rares, is crafted from a previous one, so one progresses to the other. But crafting the Very Rare requires a second completely useless Rare? Seriously?
I wouldn't mind if the requirements were effectively the same or required two Favors or whatever. But must it be something that so overtly screams filler? -
Quote:Take Ice Patch out of the Melee set and stick it in armor, since Stalkers get Hibernate in Leviathan Mastery already. Icicles gets replaced by Hide. Stalker Ice could look something like:Also, any porting of Ice Melee without Ice Patch is a no-no, unless they also give an Epic Ice Mastery with Ice Patch as an option! Not because I think it helps that much on a 8 person team or on some of the stuff I run (ITFs), but just because I love knowing I have Ice Patch
Ice Melee would be easy:
1-Frozen Fists
1-Ice Sword
2-Frost
6-Assassin Strike
8-Build Up
12-Placate
18-Freezing Touch
26-Greater Ice Sword
32-Frozen Aura
Ice Armor would require some twinking of the order, but maybe:
1-Hide
2-Ice Armor
4-Chilling Embrace
10-Permafrost
16-Wet Ice
20-Glacial Armor
28-Hoarfrost
35-Ice Patch
38-Energy Absorption -

Quote:I tend to...love...my literature a little too much, though, and single issues don't tend to survive the process, so the ability to expect an eventual trade is nice for posterity's sake.I think there will probably also be a trade paperback at some point, but I'm hesitant to tell folks that, as I really need the single issues to sell...
Still, I'm hopin' to pick up the single if I can find it (and if I haven't been barred from every comic shop in town by now due to aforementioned tendencies!). -
It can be. If you have a very high damage team, it's possible to whittle him down between him phasing, but for most teams, it'll likely end up being impossible. Even if you can, it's not fun, though. Well, Barracuda's never fun. But beating Reichs without the temp powers is even less fun.

Your effective combat level will shift one level higher. So you'll still be fighting 54s regardless, but those 54s will be +4 (all purple) to people with a common or uncommon, but +3 (minions red, the rest purple) to those with a rare or very rare.

Personally, I don't dislike the music in the first place. Some of it's kinda "eh", but overall, I think it's pretty enjoyable to listen to. That said, I play with it off entirely because it's used so poorly. You enter a neighborhood, it plays for a minute or two, then shuts off. It doesn't even change when you're moving around a changing neighborhoods anymore as a cool little signal like it used to.
It's all or nothing for me. If the game's going to have music, it needs to use it pretty much constantly. Otherwise, if I want ambient music, it's easier just to have my mp3 player running in the background. -
I enjoy writing bios for my characters, even if I'm not very talented and they don't tend to come out all that great. The closest thing I can say I've had to a real stroke of inspiration is for my Crab Spider, Technician Savage:

This is only the second time I've managed to catch this show. And if the rest are more like this, I need to put more effort into seeing more.

Quote:Unfortunately, the devs coming out and suggesting specfically what kind of sets they could do, everyone on the forums'll be "X powerset confirmed for the next issue!"I find that frustrating at times when they say we won't do something because we can't use existing animations, or we can't with what we have and so on. I have played for 4 years, so obviously I like the game, but I hate when they give out explanations like that. Too much work, can't with engine, blah, blah, blah. Polearms/staves/nunchuks, and so on would be great for powersets on their own or customization. If they tell me the ROI is not acceptable, then that I can accept. So how about the Devs tell us what types of powers are doable instead of us suggesting them.

I repeatedly miss-see some of the tentacles at the bottom of GG's Hami as wheels. It totally looks like a Hami-mobile, as a result. Which is actually pretty awesome.

Try Shatter Armor before you Placate. Build Up's duration is generally enough to last that long, and the extra resistance debuff makes it an even happier moment.

Hey, I got one. Guess I better make an appropriate character now, or suffer the wrath of those who missed it?

Well once we finish fixing Trapdoor (still a patch or two away, after they remove the lava, and make the Bifurcations EBs, too), is it reasonable to expect that Honoree and Holtz won't be pullable without attracting all the Rikti in their room, too? And we should make all the portals untouchable so that they'll keep spawning.
Maybe when we're done, we can then ensure that three even-con minions are a challenge.
Okay, so maybe all that was a bit more bitter than I really feel, but it's nonetheless disappointing to see this sort of philosophy in the way missions are designed. The thing is, I don't seem to have nearly the trouble with Trapdoor as some do, but I am a bit worried that this sets a bad precedent. Wait, scratch that, removing certain powers from the CoP was setting the precedent. What this does is codify that bad precedent.
