I saw movie twice(took my nephew for the second time.), and felt like everyone who was in the movie belonged there as it was well actted. if I didn't know the differences between 616 and the movie it wouldn't have jumped at me at all as it just felt was was supposed to be that way. Which is the point of actors, for them to own the roles they do. All of them rocked, and I look forward to seeing more of Asgardians both in the Avengers or future Thor films.
As for Akira being made...I always think of This. -
Or may be you missed what point I was driving at. There's been enough liberties taken during the movie they could easily done an all asgard movie and save the Earth stuff for the Avengers. It wasn't like Asgard was above defending the Earth.(which was why Donald Blake found his hammer in the comics, so Thor could protect the Earth from Aliens invading.) Theres tons of different ways it could gone down and been done well...I just was liking all butt kicking on Asgard and was really point I was making .

Quote:Yeah I could have just watched an entire film of Thor beating up frost giants or them showing Odin and his posse take them down rather than an abridged version. I get they wanted include some earth time to make the story have some grounding points for the general public though.Uh, yeah. Most critics and movie goers have said the earth stuff was what was weak and that the Asgard stuff was really good.
Quote:Ryan Reynolds would have been a great Wally West. Hal Jordan? Not so much. -
Quote:Jane Foster was in the comics. She was in the medical field not a scientist. Thor's human ID was Donald Blake a doctor, so they crossed paths as in both his forms. Darcy was added for the film far as I know along with the new backstory for Jane.Good to know! Were Darcy and that other girl (portman's character) in the comic as well?
As for the extra scene at the end of the credits....Said device was shown in pictures with the Red Skull for upcoming cap film. Why fury mentions it being part of myth and history.
Quote:Was Hawkeye always a SHIELD agent? I thought he was sort of his own guy... -

Some cool stuff came out with me hehe.
-
I'll likely go to see it. Green Lantern and Flash are my two favorite DC heroes.
-
So when is the network coming back? It's been down for almost 2 weeks. I'm going thru some serious CoD withdrawals. (begins shaking.)
-
I was hoping the twins were in the movie so they could be used a fodder.

Here's a TV spot I saw while watching UFC last night. Transformers 3 TV spot

Quote:While I understand you re well versed in world of art NP. You probably notice alot of stuff I likely never will pick up on or care about. I respect you have a different set of goggles to see the world than myself, as you comment on other art work of comics and cartoons that never crosses my mind I however I don't agree with that take on it. Sometimes in life it's not about following the rules. Some artists, musicians and writers make a living doing things the "wrong" way. Sometimes crossing the streams is the answer. There's more than one way to skin a cat. I think the designs look cool for the majority, and even ones I wasn't crazy about grew on me.And yet, despite the roll calls, a lot of people couldn't tell who was on the screen half the time because they ALL had that "walking humanoid-shaped mass of scrap metal" look.
One of the important elements you learn in sequential art, movies, and video games is to make every character visually unique. One exercise is to being able to easily identify them from each other just by their silhouettes. Making the designs too complicated with tons of little fiddly bits is also considered a bad idea.
The Bayformers often fail this aspect completely.

I personally had little issues with ever telling what exactly happened. At the beginning of Rotf I didn't realize was Ironhide that blew up Demolisher wheel not Prime the first time I watched it. I caught that the second time I saw it and Prime leaped off before he crashed under the overpass. That was a super fast action sequence from time Prime says pull over, till he crashes. The rest especially in Rotf since the camera pans out further during the fight scenes the I could tell you what I was looking at the overwhelmingly majority of the time.
In fact I haven't met anyone in real life who's complained about that person. It's always something people voice online. If my 50 something year old mother can follow what was happening.), and her eyes are starting fail her then it can't be that hard. I made it a point to ask her since she knew the least about transformers of everyone who went to see it. I figured if what people were saying online were saying was true may be she'd suffered the same issue
I'd actually like an example of a hard to follow scene if you want to prove a point as I've grown tired of these sweeping overgeneralizations and hyperboles online.(the entire film..sorry that's not an answer.) I've watched both films over a dozen times and I can't really think of anything that was struggle to process. May be I'm just have lighting fast reflexes from years of video game playing (I was tossed off a motorcycle and I dive rolled before I hit the ground. I was completely unharmed.) and my brain just fills in since I look up alot of info prior seeing the film.(besides first film, as I went into that with only the knowledge I had of older stuff.) People post pictures of concept art , captures of shots and the toys online(I avoid story spoilers though.) to see what everything looks like on Seibertron. So I have a good idea of what to expect going in. I dont think that's a requirement to enjoy the films, but Im sure it helps. -
Quote:They named every single Autobot in both the first and second film. There was a roll call when they met Sam, and they named all new autobots during the battle in Shang hai. They had a roll call for all bad guys in first film, which I wish they had prior to final thrown down in Rotf though they did name a couple of the major villains.(such as Soundwave, Ravage, Rampage.) (perhaps to avoid any naming accidents like the first film with Brawl.) Most of the Decepticons were going be mowed down like foot soldiers, so I suppose them getting much developement was unneeded. However, most other films, not just Transformers, also give you the names of the main protagonists, the good guys and the bad guys, and give some depth to their character.
I shouldn't need to go to an outside source to discover 'Ok, what the crap was actually happenng then? Who was that? Where were they?'
Bayformers 2, the layout of the College. Suddenly theres a library, then the party part, then the...other parts...now suddenly they're...somewhere else? The insane pace Bay lays down doesn't give you any time to think, to have any notion of who, why or where, other than HEY! SPLOSIONS!
All major characters on both sides, Optimus, Bumble bee, Ironhide, Starscream, Megatron and the Fallen got enough screen time to flesh them out a bit. Unfortunately in team movies someone always gets the shaft in terms of screen time. It happened in the Xmen films, as there's only so much time to show so much.
Bay's films definitely suffer from Simpsons geography, there's no disputing that. Whatever Bay wants to be in the next room, that's what's there.
Quote:He plays a much less raspy Megatron in Transformers Prime. -
Quote:..till he became less awesome looking (purple and orange? really?) and took a silly name to go with it. Then Spock took over. I'll take someone else voicing a character over Megatron ever becoming Galvatron again. I strongly disliked the 86 film as a kid, so color me extremely biased to any references to it in the new films.Amen to that....a-freaking-men.
And they had Frank Welker as Megatron. It's not Megatron without Frank Welker D=
Welker still does the voice for Soundwave so it's cool in my book. Never was the biggest fan of his voice as Megatron, especially his work as him in the movie games, he has gotten much raspier over the years. His Soundwave/Dr Claw voice on the other hand was always cool. He probably voiced like a 3rd of the original cast himself in transformers which most of his voices were really good. Fred Tasticore, Corey Burton, and David Kaye(mind you Kaye played a very different character. He was more brains than brawn.) were all better Megatrons in my mind.
Quote:Yes, but it's also easy to name every single Transformers characters, all the humans, the locations, and the journey from A to B in the '86 movie.
Bayformers? Oh, some random Decepticon I never got introduced to died...shame. Oh, now theres another random Autobot with one line... More random humans....wait, where are we again? How'd we get here? No, wait, go back to sleep brain. -
Sentinel Prime (Spock/Nimoy) who turns into a fire truck And Silverbolt (Uncle Phil/ James Avery) who turns into some sort of Jet among others (the Wreckers, a car trio) will be Prime's back up this time around. I'd be extremely surprised if we saw any dinobots(they don't transform into any kind of product placement is the real reason heh.) or characters bearing their names that were remotely like their G1 counter parts. If they are in the film, they ve been managed to been kept a very good secret. The toys have been made months in advance so they re usually the big give away to what might be coming. (like Jet-optimus was in the film last time. I knew Prime had to come back by the end because of that.)
-
Yeah I just saw it on youtube when I watched the new transformers trailer. It looks cool, just Fox has neutered my excitement for Xmen with X 3. I'll probably see it but its not at the top of my list by any means.
-
Surprising they haven't shown any Decepticon clearly as they did in the last two films. Both BoneCrusher and Demolisher were heavily shown and went down rather quickly. So no telling who's going be the victim of Prime's instant ownage. (besides whoever he roadkilled while tagteaming with Silverbolt back to back in the trailer.)
-
Probably not.(that was the story line in the Unicron Trilogy so I suppose it's possible.) It was likely just where a bunch of forgetten bad guys crashed as Sam mentioned the Sentinel Prime expedition in his All Spark induced rant in ROTF. Shockwave has already been revealed to be the big bad of the film. I doubt we'll see any mention of Unicron. (which I prefer to stay that way.)

Here's the newest Trailer for transformers 3. Dark Of the Moon
Hopefully someone will post another source for it that doesn't need quicktime to view it soon. I figured I'd spread the news of it being out in any case.
Edit:
Youtube version Dark of the Moon
Where were you when they took over the planet? -

I really loved the way all comes together by the end. They manage to always keep some new threads dangling while resolving the current ones. There was some cool cameos from some of marvels other characters along the way too. So much to love, I'm actually surprised there wasn't been more discussion about it. Easily every bit as good as the Justice league season 1. That's just me anyways, lets see some other chime in on this.

I recently got my Merc/dark Mastermind to lvl 50. I feel like I'm unperforming as my friend can solo stuff I struggle with. I was wondering some advice to what sets or IOs to slot. When comes to playing corruptors and defenders it's pretty straight forward as their my specialty, but Masterminds are something I've never really got, so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I rather enjoyed it. I hope it sticks around for a few more seasons.

Source Code is like Deja Vu the same way Star Wars and Star Trek are like each other because they both have people flying around in spaceships. Sure there are similarities, but there are more than enough differences to make it worthwhile. Source Code is easily the superior of the two movies BTW.
Guy gets recruited by an agency to observe the past with some technology and falls in love with a girl. He then does whatever it takes to save her despite the program not being creating for that as it supposedly can only see the past not alter ...so they claim anyways. Thats exactly what Deja vu was about. Whether its a better movie or not doesn't change it's still a stupid concept the first time I saw it. (How you can be so certain that its a better film that you haven't seen it is beyond me...unless you re a dang time traveler....*deports her back to the 42nd century.)
