I had an older graphics card, so I upgraded mine since I tried beta testing I17 and it could not run no matter what I tried to do. Sure enough when it went live the game was also unplayable. The screen was all one color, my characters were invisible on the selection screen. I opted to get a brand new graphics card with the most current drivers. I got a Radeon HD 4670, which I have version 10.4 on it. The game looks perfectly fine now.
Problem is the game is in a constant state of lag. I will continue to turn even a few secs after I was done pressing the direction. Making the game extremely frustrating to play as I walk about as straight as drunk man on a yacht in a storm. I put the game in safe mode, and it plays the same. I turns the graphics all way up, and all way down, there's no difference as the game just as laggy. it never crashed or DCed repeatedly, it just doesn't run well.
I upgraded my stuff, and it's mildly annoying as it's still running poorly. So far I17 been nothing but a blight on my gaming experience. I could really stand for it to get better. -
I Neg rep you Westley only because you seemed to want it. I typically comment outright what I think. Oddly my rep has stopped moving one way or the other as it's hung at 83 for awhile. I guess I've lost my shock value hehe.

I try load up CoX, and the patch installers says This program can not display webpage instead of showing the CoH current webpage info. I try load the game and it just does nothing once I hit next. Im getting the same error on test and live both.

Burn is currently the Epitome of a situational power. Which would be fine and good if this set was invulerability or stone armor. Firey aura entire gimmick was it is the best offensive set. Not under a blue moon or with the correct team...any given situation. It gives up entirely too much surviability compared to other sets not to be king of the hill in some other regard as it often has pick up several power pools or IOs to fill the gaps properly.
Burn was originally stupidly sick; no one is debating that. I remember watching freaks die to burn and revive only to basically die again with in the same patch. That doesnt need to come back ever. But several factors inheritly changed about the game even if the devs hadnt touched burn directly that nerfed it. You cant slot 6 damage SO. It doesnt burn unlimited mobs in the range of the Area of effect. Tankers and scrappers survivebility greatly fell from issue 4. You d be hard pressed survive 3 dozen mobs attacking you even if you could herd and kill that many without serious buffing. Everything for most part became inheritly weaker across the board.
Burn never would be what it was pre I5 for that alone. So now its this slow damage over time that mobs run away from the majority of them time. They made so mobs run from it unless some one has a way detain them. Not everyone does. Sure fire/ice tankers still can take advantage of the power solo. The rest not so much. My energy/fire tanker doesnt have any good way keep stuff from running aorund of it on his own. Generally its just too slow to really justify the damage it causes as mobs run away soon as they stand back up if I knock em down since burn such a slow animation before it starts taking ticks off mobs.
Needing a specialized member for a power be useful isnt the answer. That would be like suggesting empathy should been stuck with adreline boost with its stun side effect since if you team with anyone who could status protection you it didnt effect you. Its too stiff of a penalty to be regularly useful. Not every team going have a member on it with some sort of AoE means of slowing, immoblizing, or holding foes in place. I often duo with my friend and neither of us will have a power to control mobs.That isnt an acceptable answer in my mind to it. I shouldnt need bring in a certain player just make my power function properly.
For people saying oh its fine way it is, What else about fire makes it better than stone or invul , shield or any other defense choices availible? Why are you so against it being tweaked period? Burn is dead weight for most part, as how many dang situational powers does a set need? This set really needs a kick butt power to it, and burn was what used be. It doesnt need be uber as before, but it needs be made into a functional unit again. Right now burn got beaten so hard its on lifesupport, and has yet make its full recovery.
Theres probably several good answers to how this power can be made better without making it hugely overpowered.
- Front load the damage
- have ticks continue for a few seconds even if they run out.
- Lower the over all damage but just make all mobs hit by the AoE intial effect take damage over time, and remove the fear effect.
- lower the mag of the fear
- speed up the ticks and the animation. (it could stand a cooler pose anyways.)
-knock down or slow the foes the foes when the effect happens making it harder for them to retreat from it.
None of these things would overpower it. They might make people opt to pick it up again though. As it currently stands its not terribly effective and too situational for the typical team. If I have go thru so much set up to make worth while, why bother? -

Anyone who sees wolverine as solely as this berserker and nothing else doesnt get logan at all. At the begining of the 90s late 80s his character was actually decent. Before popularity and more writers got their hands on him. A man at war with himself, as no one understands him or has his trust. I found his position relateable and really liked the character before he got warped by overexposure. -
Well I think they can may be reshuffle the order of Vet powers, toss all costume related powers to earlier slots. I'm about hit 60 months so no biggie me how it all goes down long as I get everything I was due.
I dont think it's a bad system, as I think was a cool idea. I have also bought every single extra pack as I want all the bells and whistles that go with the game. I can understand people waiting certain pieces sooner, as I remember when it first came out my partner I game with wanted the wings ans samurai armor really bad.
May be just add some shorts same way they added extra wings and boots besides the vet ones. Which brings me to another point. I'd like see all costume unlocks become account based. Whether its by missions or inventions, etc. I'd like be able start a new character with all stuff I've unlocked rather have wait. (besides the obivous cape/aura missions.) -
While I prefer people had fortitude to say who they were (Ive postive repped people who negative repped me for it before.) I usually laugh at how weak they are, as they dont have guts say what they think on the internet where I have no idea who they are in first place....thats truly sad. I'm starting think people on forums are scared of me or something haha.
I tend leave my intials at end of comments I leave the majority of the time (save for i accidentally clicked before doing it )I want people know its me when I decide bring down the hammer. But I tend leave full frontal text assaults in topics heh. Long winded as heck, but when Im done you got the message I was getting at.
I leave it going as I think its more amusing for those who disrespect me to know someone actually proves the things I say and disagrees with them too.(I see fair number of green or grey posts among the red marks.) I know Im going ruffle feathers and not follow the crowd,(usually cause I refuse overrate and worship something the masses do.) and Im not afraid do it as I can revel in it at times heh.
No matter how badly I get shot up, I seem bounce back to green. I might be an arguementative scroundel who says things you dont wanna hear...but theres usually some truth it all and a point. You can try invalidate me all you want, but you haven't invalidated my point.
I figure if people lacked courage openly oppose my thoughts then Id rather they gave me feedback of sorts. Even if they did just simply add the comments they sent me, it likely just derail the thread into a wizzing contest, as all crap stays off radar. Alot of times they dont even reply in thread to what I said, so it just keeps chugging along. I just take as they dont truly have a leg stand on or are too lazy bother..so either way Ive won this round hehe. I mean in debate teams they basically end it when people turn namecalling, I view this the same way.
Whether it goes or not I don't care. I never plan change what I say based off it's existence or lack of. I do what I always do. (though I wonder if it always existed would I driven my rep into gutter or would actually be higher heh as Ive been around since beta.) Nothing anyone said to me kept me up at night. And boy has there been plenty.

I understand theres going be the neutral phase as well, but Id imagine they d just leave so you d be tagged as whatever side you were on last. Not like they're going rename all badges for neutral titles either.(pictures it.. You've unlocked middle of the roader, perfect balance and equalizer...) In anycase its nice see feedback of sorts, besides the gag post.

Defender one hero side name definitely sounds like a hero name. (to fact its name of the main hero in champions online heh.) Nictus and warshades are perfect example of this happening in game as they re reformed Nictus. So not like this concept isnt already in place in the game. Just matter of continuing it in a consistent manner for rest.
In fact all your examples of things you don't care for are even more examples of the game making a clear distinction between sides. Theres lackeys/sidekicks, strike force and taskforce, the overwhelming majority of the game has a different name for everything between sides. Even the badges the player has are different. For swapped ATs not to actually be a huge inconsistency. -
Any word on how patron and epic pools are going be handled? I mean if heroes swap sides will they get option take on a patron, or will villains have access to patrons still since theres a good version of arachnos that can still learn them from?

Even with going rogue some people will just prefer stick on their own side. (or opt not to buy GR right away.)

If we re going make this truly different I agree with the sentiment of the Leader should be the primary offense, and the pets 1 or two of them should be support trying keep them alive. You couldn't just copy paste power sets for this to work as the pets should be retooled toward the purpose of this AT. Basically the pets be a team of squishies, blasters ,defenders controllers backing the hero. The hero is less powerful than a scrapper but has a team backing them to offset it. Just a thought if the devs are goign take it serious, and give it its own feel.
The was an epic AT being purposed by statesman before he left, Avatar was going combine tankers and mastermind basically the pets be the offense while the player kept them alive. They d have fewer of them of course. like 1-2. -
I'd like for them go through and expand every enemy type to atleast two for every rank of foe. Some enemy types just feel lazy with 1 minion, 1 LT 1 boss format. Just looks like the villain or hero group was an after thought. I understand some change out as you rise up the ranks which is fine, but theres some that are static the whole way.

I hadn't viewed any recent threads on this issue. I know its been brought up in past, but with Going Rogue becoming a distance reality I feel has more of a point than back when it was first brought up at the notion of swapping sides.
So from a comic book stand point characters often change costumes and names when they change allegiance. Like Jedi are called Sith, Paladins become death knights, and Phoenix become know as the dark phoenix. In game Nictus and Warshades are connected the same way. So if the same train of thought were applied to CoX, what titled would they give archetypes? I mean be alittle odd for a corruptor to be a heroes title as few names dont swap sides well. Id taken a stab at it, but I figure anyone else can fill in some as well since GR will be some time away and may be some of the suggestions get in if they go this route. I figured for clarity and theme they d have a clear cut name difference to show someone had moved between sides then.

When came to villains I figured the epic archtypes name probably change with whatever the name of arachnos does to the praetorian side since those two are so tightly connected. Was hard come up with a solid name that worked with it.
Anyways I posted what came to mind ,I figured I'd see what others think of the idea, and what names they d run if they thought was a cool direction. May be you hate it, or just have something you think sounds infinitely cooler for a side swapped AT. All are welcome answers to the discussion. -
The game is fine, I played games where incredible distances were needed to travel to get to places. It got old real fast. Id play Daoc, (dark age of camelot..basically EQ with 3 realms.) and Id get asked come out to a team in the shrouded isles expansion. Id have ride all way to southern end of the realm to get to the portal to the isles. Then id have ride all way out to remote area for high lvl stuff, which took like 45 mins to do. Which sometimes the team in question would break up shortly after you got there. Meaning you dropped whatever you were doing for nothing.
I love city of heroes/villains system of getting around quickly. Between my base, ourboros, and my various warp special powers from vet/special pack powers I can be anywhere I want to go very quickly. Reminds me of centurions, they could imediately be where ever trouble was in a moments notice, it actually makes you feel super heh.
Ive played the game off and on since beta. They intially had so you had to repeatedly board trains to cross zones in a loop. Before beta ended they changed it so you could just click and bounce between zones. They ve expanded the routes of the trains, and given us so much freedom. Im glad for this, as I went back and tried play Daoc again, I felt like my character was so slow and grounded, as I couldnt even jump like this game can at lvl 1. You cant sprint for very long. It was pitiful.
Nothing thats been added has ruined the game in my eyes. People can still travel around and see the sights if they want to. I know I get invites to do different things, and go do them. Like i see an alarm for a rikti raid or a fire break out, i go do it if Im in the mood. I still like go fight giant monsters and Avs. You re not stuck in cap au or atlas park. More choices and freedom are never a bad thing. Power to the players heh. -

Well they could just make so the exp was fixed for missions based off the objectives, the mobs themselves were worth nothing, only tickets. People can mow do whatever mobs they like, but only get something for the mission itself exp wise. Seems like a workable solution, but Im sure people would hate it heh.
