1. In my arcs I have roughly 2/2/2. I tend to be verbose with my text, and use more custom critters than just those 6, however.

Thank you, thank you: I'll be here all week.

Try the veal and be sure to tip your waitress.

why veal.. veal is such a sad thing to eat. Who wants to eat baby cows.

3. Well, whatever you do, make sure you put a lock on the fence.
4. And as I told enrious, IBTL sounds better than IBTD.
5. Gold rolls in general aren't worth it unless you really need something in there. 4000 is a lot of tickets.

Personally, I've been making bank using the silver rolls and selling anything I can't use on the markets. Bronze roll however is also really cheap and has some good stuff in there.
6. It really, REALLY needs to be looked at. It's just frankly too strong. I don't use it for any of my custom bosses, and here's why.

On standard, it gets all of the toggles, and all of the auto powers. This means a 26% defense to everything at all times, a 20% reduction in recharge for it's attacks, and .9% resistance to all damage for every percent of health below 60%. This makes them take an annoying amount of time to kill.

Thankfully, there's a very easy fix for this. Super Reflexes gets absolutely no powers on hard. Not a single one. Simply move the auto defense powers to hard, and then on standard Super Reflexes bosses will simply have a 18.5% defense to everything and no scaling resistances, making them more in line with other custom bosses with defense powers set to standard.

I Wish [Forum]

[ QUOTE ]
I wish I understood what "had of done" means...

I wish Willpower had been available at launch, because I don't want to reroll my main character to get rid of Super Reflexes.

[/ QUOTE ]
Bah. Super Reflexes owns. You're doing it wrong.
8. [ QUOTE ]
Nothing in the game is more fun to play on a team, except in the degenerate case of unsoloable content like Hami or mothership raids, or maybe one or two others. (I remember people were trying to solo the ITF, don't know if any succeeded.)

Teams are broken. I know it, you know, my cat knows it, small potted ferns know it. Castle even admitted it. Unless your definition of "fun" is "mercilessly destroy anything in your path", which is pathological, the primary effect of teaming is to trivialize content. Fixing this requires making changes the devs aren't willing to make. It's not something you can overcome with the tools in the Architect. Even those maps with nothing but AVs can be steamrollered by a decent team.

[/ QUOTE ]
Well, yeah, if you have a full team of 8. I personally like to roll in smaller groups.
9. Meh, that's why I pretty much only use my main hero for badge purposes nowadays. If I'm playing another character and I *have* to let people know how long I've been playing, they can just look at my veteran badges.

i am back! london was a load of fun! i did get banned from the UK for 6 months. again. this is the second time! BAAAAANNNED in the UK... i was BAAAAAAANED in the UK... they hate me there... but how ridiculous is that? HAHAHHAHAHA

[/ QUOTE ]
Well, it serves you right for your radical views.

The alignment changes is pretty much universally hated by long time DnD players, as it was rather stupid and pointless. My point is that while it's totally idiotic, you can just do a handwave and keep the original 9 alignments.

[/ QUOTE ]

You mean the nine ill-defined alignments that no one could really ever agree on exactly what they meant (and still can't to this day)?

Frankly the alignment grid was a neat innovation some 30 years ago, but really it's outgrown it's usefulness.

I've been playing D&D since the red box and I'm glad they finally simplified the system so there aren't hours long arguements if, for example, something was actually Lawful or not (the typical "If the king says you have to kill peasants and you don't then you're not being lawful!" stuipidity).

The new system is a clear consistent dualistic slider. While simple, it is sure alot easier to figure out where someone falls.

[/ QUOTE ]
Yes. I do mean that if you so wish you can still use that alignment system. Nothing is stopping a group from doing so, whether you hate it or not.

[ QUOTE ]
Actually it's not neutral anymore. It's Unaligned. Which is not necessarily the same thing (and makes alot more sense).

[/ QUOTE ]
So I see you didn't read the part of the true neutral alignment description where it said that neutral also encompasses people who don't make a big deal out of being good/evil or lawful/chaotic. You know, your average person. Which is exactly what unaligned is.
12. [ QUOTE ]
He's not talking about arcs that don't scale properly to group size and difficulty (i.e. require a team to complete) - he's talking about arcs that require a team to fully appreciate (i.e. get the most out of them).

There is no difference between the two

[/ QUOTE ]
I completely disagree. There's a huge difference between "Impossible for anyone to solo" and "More fun to play on a team." Like someone else said, using an AV at all more or less makes it an arc that a team gets more out of. If you're solo, it's an EB instead, meaning that unless your AV is incredibly powerful, then it could theoretically be soloed.

You don't get recipes or common invention salvage. This becomes an issue at around level 32, when simple IOs become as good as even level SOs. It's fairly easy to keep your SOs updated with tickets, but you won't be replacing them with simple IOs, and thus spend money or tickets on their upkeep longer.

You are not getting badge missions or defeat badges in MA. This puts important accolades like Atlas Medallion harder to achieve. I recommend that you take time out around 23-28 to run the Moonfire task force a couple times, which usually helps a lot in getting your Slayer and Silver Bullet badges.

[/ QUOTE ]

I think I've gotten maybe two accolades on two of my characters in all my years playing this game.

Accolades aren't all that.

[/ QUOTE ]
Maybe you should get more. +20% HP or temporary +RES/DEF powers are really great and very useful. +20% HP helps way more than most people realize.

One of the reasons I stick to redside is that Portal Jockey, Task Force Commander, and Eye of the Magus are so annoying to obtain.

[/ QUOTE ]
Born in Battle is way more annoying to get than any blueside accolade in my opinion. Especially since I either A: play Masterminds or B: use defense sets over resistance sets. Seriously, after what, 4? Years of playing my first Mastermind I have yet to get born in battle.

Wait, since when did Gunslingers not use their cryo and fire rounds at close range? They'd constantly hit my Scrapper with that stuff.

I'm glad both that you enjoyed Fighting Freedom and that it wasn't too difficult at level 23. How was the final fight?

[/ QUOTE ]

Liberty's Son managed to strike me with one of his less damaging attacks, and missed with something that looked like it would have really hurt. He went down after that - not only did my Webmaster ally hit him with something that seemed strangely vicious for a lt (although I do know he was a scaled down boss), I'd popped about three reds and hit build up *and* criticaled him with my most damaging attack.

I can see how with a little less luck it might have been a very different fight, but the way it went, I didn't have any trouble at all.

[/ QUOTE ]
You see, I've had that ally either be really useful or completely pathetic. It all counts on if Liberty's Son attacks you or the boss first, really.

Plus, since you were playing on heroic, he was only a boss instead of an elite boss, meaning his damage isn't nearly as high as it would be otherwise. If I could swap out knockout blow for footstomp, I'd do it in a heartbeat.
16. I'm glad both that you enjoyed Fighting Freedom and that it wasn't too difficult at level 23. How was the final fight?
17. You forgot to mention that your one character can have five different costumes. That's like five different characters right there!
18. The alignment changes is pretty much universally hated by long time DnD players, as it was rather stupid and pointless. My point is that while it's totally idiotic, you can just do a handwave and keep the original 9 alignments.

A NEW CHALLENGER APPEARS
20. So is this a rookery referring to a breeding ground for birds, or a rookery referring to a British slum?

And a system that, sadly, they did away with in the latest iteration of the game.
Now you can only be lawful good, neutral or chaotic evil...

4th Ed is a bastardization of the game designed to make the MMOG players more interested in it. It's faster and supposedly easier. I want my 3.5 ED and I'm dang happy.

Hell, I'll even open out my blue book from time to time to roll a REAL D&D game.

[/ QUOTE ]
The whole alignment boondoggle can be easily handwaved. Hardly anything in 4E relies on alignment anyhow. Frankly, I'm having a lot of fun with 4E. The classes are more defined, and none of them are a bad option, unlike in 3.5 edition. The combat is a lot smoother, with a lot less confusing rules.

Frankly, the game plays a lot closer to first edition than 3.5 does, if we're talking about REAL DnD.

This threadjack is officially ON.
22. Alright, just published the arc. It's arc ID 177930, Fighting Freedom. 5 missions long, but none of the missions are particularly long. Aside from the end fight, nothing should be too difficult to fight.
23. Story arc for the week of May 17, 2009

Arc #177930: Fighting Freedom
Alignment: Villainous
Suggested levels: 21-30
Difficulty: Moderate except for the EB in the final mission. You have an optional ally to help with him, but you may need to bring a friend along.

Description: A group of young mutants calling themselves the Freedom Militia have banded together to fight against the criminals of the Rogue Isles. Lord Recluse wants them destroyed.

The majority of the arc has you face a custom group. I've tested them rather thoroughly, and they should be rather standard for enemies you face in the 20s-30s. Again, except for the EB. He's a tough one.
24. [ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
Yeah, the only thing you really need to worry about is the EB at the end. He hits like a truck.

[/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, the rest of the arc could be soloed by a kitten. I've never had trouble with the end EB, but then again I'm a lover of lucks and just down them like pez before those kinds of battles. I soloed it with a Blaster who basically has Rise of the Phoenix in her attack chain and didn't die once, so I don't think the difficulty is too high as long as you know what you're doing and are forewarned (and I spell it out in the mission text, too).

[/ QUOTE ]
Actually I was talking about my arc specifically.
