In my opinion, the only ranged attack that is really too strong is Shuriken. That thing is so strong it HAS to be a mistake. Take a look at it sometime, and compare the damage on Shuriken on a boss at level 50 to every other attack out there. It seriously outdamages nearly every non-nuke attack. It outdamages full auto, headsplitter, I think even KO Blow. The other ranged attacks don't come close to that ridiculous.
But here's the thing. At low levels, they don't even outdamage the tier 1 melee attacks. All of the melee set ranged attacks scale like this. I don't know if this was a mistake or intentionally designed to try and deter farmers, but the scaling on the ranged attacks for melee sets is truly wonky. -
What I'd really like to see is a breakdown of ratings like they have on shopping sites. A few 1 stars and 0 stars easily wreck your rating, but having it out there for all to see how many 5s and 4s you've gotten says a lot. Obviously, it can still be gamed by having a ton of friends 5 star it. In addition to that, you could break it down by percentages of people who completed it. Like, 40% of people who completed this arc rated it 5 stars. 40% rated it 4 stars.

Whenever I play an arc where something isn't spawning, ESPECIALLY if I'm reviewing it, I always log out and back in and give it another shot to see if it'll fix the problem.
Turg, is the final boss a conditional spawn based on a conditional spawn? Like say, are the obelisks conditional? Because with one of my arcs, I would have one boss spawn after you rescue a hostage, and then after you beat that boss, another boss would appear. I had complaints about the second conditional boss not spawning. I made it so both bosses spawned at the same time, both when you rescue the hostage, it cleared the problem right up.
My own personal experience with this issue has led me to believe it has to do with the number of boss spawn points in the mission. You say that you have to destroy 3 obelisks, right? I assume these are all set to back. Does the boss spawn in back as well? If so, check the number of back spawns you can have. Normally what will happen is that if you have more spawns in an area than it allows, it'll just shunt it off to another area, say you're allowed 4 back spawns, and you have 5 bosses set to spawn in back, 4 will spawn in the back and one will spawn somewhere else.
HOWEVER, and this is just my theory based on what I've seen, is that when you have a conditional spawn set to spawn in an area that has all of its spaces taken up, the spot where it would normally be shunted off to has been taken up by some other spawn, even a regular minion and LT spawn. I've noticed in my villainous arc that I have right now, I have a conditional boss set to spawn at front. It always spawns in the first room, and when you go into that room at first it's curiously enemy free. The most I ever see in there is like 1 LT.
What I'm thinking is happening is that the code reads that a boss will spawn there, so it removes one of the regular enemy spawn points and places the spawn point for the objective there. But, if it's set to spawn in an area that's already taken up by other set objectives, the set objectives take precedence, but it still tries to spawn it in the same area as one of those objectives instead of reserving another one for itself.
God, I hope any of that long rambling makes sense. -

Nice to see you're still watching the thread Stomp. I want to say that I loved the way you did the first review(minus the not seeing the glowie), with all the commentary and everything. It's hard to say whether or not you should cut out segments of your review because, for the viewer, it gives a good sense of how long, mindless, and boring a "Big map for no reason" is.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well that could be accomplished with selective editing. If you want to point out a map that is long or annoying in some manner, then have a portion that illustrates that. However, if there are unimportant "I'm fighting some guys" parts as you head to the objective and there's really nothing important to say, then cut it.
Another thing that may be a good idea is instead of recording the audio live as you play it, simply have a tape recorder sitting near you, so you can make comments about what you're doing at the time for future reference, and after you edit the video down, record a new audio track for the review that's more concise and only deals with the important things based off the audio notes you took.
I really like the idea of an audio review. It's a really useful tool to show your audience what you mean by something instead of just describing it. One of the reasons I prefer say, X-Play or Gametrailers reviews as opposed to like video game magazine reviews. -

I sincerely doubt it, but if they did I'd know it was coming.
Also I'll state without backing it up with ANY facts most of the old MMO's have taken similar just as harsh stances and punishments. Several of them also happen to still be around.
UO, Everquest, just to name the two that leap to mind. Even WoW I beleive.
Also, I'll just say we get new players all the time and leave it at that.

Everyone has the right to their opinion and all. But the difference between people that simply chose not to agree and trolls, are the ones that hit their back button instead of Reply.

Merm, you're a good person, and you got screwed by this, but not everyone who disagrees is a troll. No need to call names. -
Actually, I think Pain Domination is supposed to be the proliferation of empathy, in a way.
But while we're talking about more proliferation, I second radiation blasters, and let's see some fire mastery for scrappers! They need a fourth one anyhow, and I'd love for my Fire/SR scrapper to chuck some fireballs. -

That's a pretty odd way to look at your Mastermind, Sigium. The Genin are melee henchmen, so expecting them to stay out of melee and fire is pretty much opposite to the intended purpose of the changes, and I'm not sure about the Oni as my Ninja Mastermind doesn't have access to him yet, but I'd say I very much prefer him to use his attacks rather than holds and Rain of Fire.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, they're so damn squishy that it just makes it a suicide mission to send them in. Even Punks have Resistance with an Enforcer or Two on the scene, you know?
And then Smoke Flash? Pffft... Genin waste it with sub-par damage, Jounin are already IN Stealth, and the Oni is best used for Control, so it's wasted for them.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ninjas/Forcefield or Traps is the way to go. Hell, even dark would work well. The defense on the pets isn't impressive, but it stacks up with defense that you get from your secondaries.
Your Genin are melee, and your Oni is an attack pet. That's pretty much all there is two it. Oni is loaded to the teeth with damage powers. One single target hold and one single target immobilize a controller does not make. Hell, I wish they'd get rid of ring of fire on the Oni. He uses it too damn much. -

The Risen Martyr prestige class from Book of Exalted Deeds came back after 1d4+1 days, so it could be anywhere from 2-5.

Wait, I'm Paula Abdul? I think I rate lower on average than Venture does, actually. I just usually have nicer things to say.
I should start reviewing things again, but I got distracted with other things. -
You'll come back. They always come back.

Yeah, I don't really use the tags. Searching 4 stars and avoiding things with stupid titles and obvious badge farm missions is a good way to go.

Hey, don't take away my ability to post useless stuff!
Fighting, not fighting, whatever. I'll be snarky either way. -
Umm, not sure what all that has to do with super reflexes? Or how it's the players' fault. Perhaps you should start a separate thread about your issue?

apparently the devs DO dislike farming, as the message from synapse seems to confirm, and as the post by Posi also stated. If they were just fixing a flaw that they accidentally put in no one would really be upset (well, someone might be, but the rest of us would ignore those that far out of touch from reality).
[/ QUOTE ]
Honestly I think it's due more to the fact that the MA is flooded with farm missions, making story missions hard to find, which defeats the intended purpose of the Mission Architect, which is to allow you to create stories and play stories that others have created. -
Happy Birthday Ghost Falcon. Now where's my level 50 SOs...

Well, Shuriken is leaps and bounds above the damage that other ranged attacks that the melee sets got, for some reason. I'm willing to believe that Shuriken's insane damage is a pure mistake.
As for not giving minions a secondary set, you can "cheat" and give them standard regen, which gives like a 75% regen and recovery rate boost, which on minions, doesn't really mean anything at all.
