    Defense? Yes!

I'm all for people playing and enjoying nonstandard builds. But I question how long it takes to kill a boss without aim and buildup. I don't think I could do it. I'd feel way underpowered and thus, as a blaster, vulnerable.

If I wanted to stand in melee, not get hit, and use fire attacks, there is the ice/fire tank, or fire/sr scrapper and both have mez protection.
  2. OK. I fugured this one out by myself, yay me, and thought I would share.

If you find you are not getting any sound out of boombox anymore, go into settings and turn music volume up from 0%.

    Now, I know you're thinking - duh - thats obvious, isn't it?

Not really. The boombox never used to be controlled by that slider. It was part of game sounds slider. I'd estimate that about 3 years ago, I tired of the ingame music, that would appear anytime you moved to different locations in a zone, so I turned the music volume down to zero so I wouldn't have to hear it. But I would still hear music from the boombox everytime.

Well now with the realease of Issue 17, the Boombox was moved over to the music channel.

Now this could be a blessing for some of you that hate the boombox and all the in game music for that matter. Just leave music volume at 0%

    OK. I'm done.

I can confirm this. I was just there.

Exactly. Though you'd probably never do this, don't expect Concealment-Stealth to stack with Devices-Cloaking Device. Both are toggles, and one will shut off the other. Which one is better? CD.
  5. Concealment -Stealth, the pool power, gives a movement penalty for concept.

If you can afford a Stealth IO at lvl 6, then you eliminate the penalty. Otherwise you have to live with it for a bit.

Concealment - Invisibility, is different than double stacked stealth, it creates an affecting only self status. It has its advatages for people that want to leverage its power.

I think the way the powers are right now, give the greatest benefit. Lots of options for the informed player.

Lots of ins, lots of outs, lots of what-have-yous, new information has come to light.

  7. Whatever happened to Smelly Mel? Did he break out of the zig?

EDIT: Nevermind, I found him in Dark Waters. :-)
  8. 8 Dark Armor stalkers running stacked Opressive Glooms would dominate just about anything.

Dont believe me? Just take 2, just 2..into the RWZ and tackle a group of +4 Rikti. Now imagine 6 more. Swarm and destroy..no need to Assassinate anything.

I think the scrapper was under the incorrect assumption that the kin by attacking through him was kill stealing, and collecting rewards that weren't due him/her. Like he was doing 90% of the damage then you were coming in with the last 10% and stealing his kill and taking his rewards.

I know it sounds stupid, but you'd be suprised how people think this game works. They must not believe in randomness.

I actually believe the OP should have just told that scrapper he was better off soloing. Then he could get all the drops.
  10. I think its bad game design that break frees dont work on her. Its not like its isn't beaten into your head to carry break frees when you face tough opponents as a blaster/controller/defender. But the one opponent that can cause a tank to have to carry a break free, it does no good at all. Sorry , I should have eaten 4 lucks instead. Silly.

I have beaten her before with other tanks and other ATs. My MA/SR scrapper, just took reds and never got held and killed her easily. Some other ATs I knew going in she could hold me, so I took lucks. I know my DM/DA stalker has killed her numerous times. The invul tank power Unyielding, I guess I thought was more powerful than what it was. And any Invul tank knows that if he HAS to click Unstoppable at the beginning of a prolonged battle, be it an EB solo or an AV with a team, it never works out well for the tank. Unstoppable is best used in the last 25% of the fight, when endurance is needed. When that nuke is used and when the villain is pulling out all the stops in a last dire attempt at victory. I have never used Unstoppable to begin any fight, and I will never use it too early.
  11. I took my long time main tank, an Inv/Mace, into a solo mission against Arachnos. Ghost Widow was the EB waiting for me at the end of the mission.

My Inv/Mace has 2 builds, one with all the bells and whistles, and the second build which I took all the primary early and all the ST attacks and slotted them so that I could use this build when I was soloing ouroboros, or exemplaring to low level missions and still have a good consistent attack chain. No complete sets mainly common IOs, SO's and pieces of sets here and there that looked like they'd help. No set bonuses on this second build. I do have all my accolades, however.

I was in this secondary build, with ST attacks slotted and AoE's available but not slotted well. So I decided I would run this mission at -1/+4, at lvl 50, and was proceding along well. Then I got to GW. She held me immediately, and killed me in about 10 seconds.

Before you say, well she does this, you just have to come prepared, let me reiterate. She was only an EB. She was -1 to me, conned Yellow, but she held me 1st attempt, and even after held I ate 2 Break frees, and still could not escape it. I could see this happening if she was AV level, but EB level? on an invul tank? with status protection? and it was not like she stacked anything. She walked up to me, held me, and the rest of the Arachnos killed me. Is this working as intended? Does she have powers that ignore status protection? Is she perhaps broken? Are there any invul powers that are broken, that just aren't talked about on the forum because no one is playing invul anymore?

Trust me, I dont mind dying, but I have a feeling it should not be THIS easy for her to kill a hero. It was like her hold had a mag 100 when it should have been mag 10. I just really am wondering if something is broken here.

    This.

If the OP has played an AR/Dev and knows good tactics, there is no reason a Fire/Fire should be a problem.
  13. I've only ever made one set of 3, and it wasn't on my blasters, but my SR scrapper, to help him soft cap. The prices are so high because the set is in such demand.

You're not the only Thugs MM who wants the new animations. I would like them too. But I just wanted you to ask a bit differently. I only use the Dual Wield attack and my veteran powers, so amination times and stuff really don't matter to me. On a MM its all about style points. The pets are the workhorses. Once the pets attack and the plan is set into motion, it all about being cool. A spinning Dual Wield kill shot would be cool.

    There...thats the way you ask

    Fury for Tanks

If you love your tank, play the tank. Otherwise re-roll as a Brute. I would think, as a long time player, you would know by now that nothing compares to a tank in its ability to take damage and gather agro. Brutes are glorious scrappers on the red side, but they will be weak tanks on the blue side. Not weak in terms of being able to take damage and not weak in terms of dishing out damage, but weak when it comes to absolutely being counted on to gather aggression. If, like you say you play mainly solo, then just pretend your new Brute is your old tank. If you do team, with a tank who knows how to tank, you wont be building much Fury because the tank will be taking all the punches, and you'll be standing there wondering why your taunt doesn't work. So there are trade offs. Just be prepared and I hope you find whatever you do fun, even after GR comes and you switch to Brute.
  16. Did you prepurchase Going Rogue yet? You can't even make this request until you have.
Your request would be much stronger if you prefaced it with, I prepurchased Going Rogue thinking I could use the new animations on my Thugs MM. Thats all I really wanted them for..yada yada. Could I please have that option? Seeing that I already purchased them?
  17. Yes it would be good if they could do it, but I dont think they can because hide is not like invisibility. Hide doesnt give you affecting only self status, which is what you'd need. If they gave hide AOS status, then you'd have to toggle it off to AS.
  18. My Fire/Mace does well there, too. OF course, its more fun with an AR blaster. They're line up for cones. Easy to mow down.

But with IO slotting, I don't think any tank has to worry about giving up damage for accuracy; it's easy enough to slot for both.
It is eventually, yes I agree. But starting out, a tank has to give his attacks ample acc and endrdx first, before he can get his damage up.

    np i accept your apology
  21. Because of the tanks inherent taunt ability, a tank gets hit with everything thrown at it. Its not all damage, it is quite often a debuff attack. Sometimes that debuff makes him miss more of his attacks. Thats why the power taunt is important. When you are accuracy debuffed and your punches dont land you can still hold the bad guys attention. The power taunt is autohit in most instances against PvE opponents. Except for AVs. A taunt can miss an AV. The reason you can slot acc in your taunt is to make you more effective against AVs and in PvP taunt is not autohit.

    /Dark Armor FTL?

I play a dark/dark stalker. He is my only 50 villain and I still play him more than any other villain. His primary build utilizes Opressive Gloom. His secondary build utilizes both the fear aura from the secondary and the single target fear from the primary. I still use his primary build the most. I have OG slotted with accuracy and stun duration, as its end use requirements are very low. I use the Absolute Amazment to hit debuff proc in it. I also use the KB proc in it from Stupefy. I find myself able to survive most encounters that don't include alot of -recharge. Thats what kills me the most, something that slows my Dark Regen. Dark Armor is disliked by alot of stalker players because they do not want to have to toggle off protective armors in order to rehide. I can understand this. Its not for everyone. I think I am a great team player because I do not focus on the Assassin Strike, but rather the mitigation I give. Dark Melee is so powerful, just its single target attacks add plently damage to the team. I would never dream of skipping Assassin Strike however even in an experimental build. The AS is too important in EB encounters. Plus the initial fear effect it gives takes most minions out of play.

Basically you play a Dark Armor stalker knowing youre going to take damage. If that bothers you, you shouldnt play it. I play all my blasters knowing they will take damage too, so I am used to this style.
  23. Right. Don't forget. Accuracy is important in Mines just like any other attack. Otherwise an enemy could set off the bomb, but not take any damage, because the explosion missed them. I just checked my in game numbers, and I have a set of 5 Scirrocos Dervish, which gives me roughly 95% damage, 57% acc, 42 % recharge and38% endrdx. My mines are very useful this way. In the lvl 50 game, one mine still not kill one white minion, but it will be close, like 85 or 90%, then a slug or a burst is all that is needed to finish them.

If thats what you'd call fun, then ok.

    I wouldn't.

I have a Son/EM sitting at lvl 38..no fun to play. Until Im on a big team..then I boost range and go to town. But that solo tactic is boring.
  25. I agree. A blaster gets a hold, should use it as a hold. I can't imagine trying to kill something with char. Quite inefficient, when you have all these other powers to click that do more damage faster.
