What camera? I'm not talking about some cutscene, I'm talking about the ROOM FULL OF SIGNATURE HEROES in the final mission. There is no camera, no 'film,' no Statesman anywhere.

Hell, even Faultline and Fusionette are there.
  2. I'd suggest taking a long look at Pain Dom in Mids to see what it brings to the table later in the game and compare that to what Empathy can, and then remember that /Pain will NEVER be a defender primary.

PD gets some nice PBAoE buffs and debuffs late in the set. World of Pain is basically a PBAoE mini-fortitude what with the +damage, +res , and +tohit. It all depends on how you slot it, and frankenslotting along with recharge bonuses can give it a really good uptime percentage without hasten. Just off the top of my head in a minute I was able to get it to a 122 second recharge (90s duration)...granted it only gives 11.3% resist and 10% to-hit with no enhancements and my quick-slot choice for example purposes only got those to 15.6% and 14.4%...

Then you have Anguishing Cry which comes with a base debuff of -30% Def(all) and -22.5% Res(all) AND can take the Achilles proc...in a PBAoE. 5/6 pieces of Analyze Weakness(No proc) and the achilles proc gives it a -48.2% debuff to defense and a potential -42.5% res(all), although 20% of that will vanish in only 10 seconds while the base sticks around for 30... This cannot be made permanent, but the slotting I JUST used gets it to only 71 seconds recharge time. Fast enough to be used right before your judgement every time once you get incarnated out.
  3. I found the issue. Apparently they no longer accept a connected Paypal account for in-game purchases, so I had to Unsubscribe and resubscribe to sort the problem out.

Likely has to do with some kind of store restructuring for Freedom and them having to cut out Paypal or something.
  4. For the last three days I have tried to buy some additional character slots, each time being told that I have no credit card on file and that I thus cannot buy anything.

The problem is that I HAVE bought character slots before, and I have gone to my master account page only to find no easy way to register a credit card for this game in order to be able to buy some slots again...

    Help?
  5. I can't think of anyone that would dislike it if Statesman were the one under the gun. And we DO have some foreshadowing of this.

Statesman is pretty much the ONLY signature hero not in the huge 'Portal Guarding Group' in the Tin Mage MK II TF's final mission. Everyone else is there, EVERYONE.

    No Statesman.

And remember who was the man behind old Flagboy?

You do realize that for some people the numbers on the tiny league window are too damn small, right? I have 20/85 vision, and even with my glasses ON I can barely tell the difference between the 2 and 3 at the tiny font size used for the league window.

I personally find it MUCH clearer to use the COLOR of the team as a reference rather than the number, simply because the number is TOO SMALL.

I play at 1920*1080 on a 24' widescreen monitor. I have no issues with screen real estate, I have plenty of issues with tiny font size, and using any smaller resolution makes me want to rip my eyes out from how blurry things look.

Funny, I could have sworn that every set that included even a single heal was more of a buffing and debuffing set than a healing set.

So, is a Rad/ a Healer because of Radiant Aura despite everything else being a buff or debuff?
Is a /Pain a healer despite the awesome buffs in World of Pain and Painbringer?
Is an Emp a healer just because they have three powers that directly affect HP like /Pain and have other awesome buffs?
Is a TA a healer when their set doesn't even have anything remotely like a heal in it?
  8. From what I have been able to tell from posts made about these powersets, Beam and Street are premium for a good reason. They're powersets that people have wanted for ages, and beam rifle has a specific bit of new tech...weapon AND power customization.

That bit of new tech alone justifies a bit of cost attached, in my opinion. For a VIP this means spending some monthly stipend points. For 'freemium' players, it's the same price they pay for Time Manipulation, Kinetic Melee, Demon Summoning, etcetera.

If you stay VIP, you CAN get it free, but it doesn't unlock automatically.

So, this is the bar being set for the revamps of the rest of the game, right? Because dear god is this stuff making the old content look terribad...
I think the Carnival of Light IS the arcane arm of the Resistance.

If I wanted to play that other game I would. Hopefully they have original enough storelines in the new Galaxy arcs that I won't think about that other stomach turning abomination of a game.
Thing is, that Other Game's tutorial takes place in the center of the city...which you see minutes later as a pristine and wholly undamaged area. Yeah, way to have a lasting impact.

In this game, however...Galaxy is GONE. There is no 'MIRACULOUS REBUILDING AND RECOVERY EFFORT MAKES GALAXY LIVABLE IN MINUTES!' ******** going on here.

Makes a nice joke and Take That from our devs. 'Unlike those Chumps over there, our tutorial has an impact on the game world."
  11. Long-standing bug that has proven impossible to fix thus-far ever since they allowed MM pets to zone with the MM.

Personally, I suggest 'bind p /releasepets' as a literal panic button that is the only thing that works perfectly when this happens.
  12. Running Win 7 64-bit Home here, and I'm getting a MONSTER of a memory leak that leads to CoH crashing once it hits 1,945,XXX Kilobytes in use.

More accurately, it freezes up and nothing short of ending the process from the task manager will close the window.

Not sure if it's related to the goings-on here or not, but here's the data you asked for in the first post:

    ------------------------------------
I'm also getting a TON of graphical corruption shortly before the game ends up completely locking up on me. I've had entire maps with all wall, floor, and body textures replaced with inspiration or archetype icon textures, enemies rendered invisible to vision, but able to be targetted by tabbing because their textures fail to load...

    It's becoming very annoying.
  13. I hate rumors as well, and I likely heard it thirdhand or even more distant than that.

You know how these things work. Person A gets Confidential Data P and turns it into Rumor Q, and by the time Person K hears about it it's now Rumor Z and barely even resembles Confidential Data P.

I wouldn't be the least bit shocked to learn that this is part of issue 21, and likely not even a big part considering the whole 'Becoming Free to Play' aspect.

Considering all the other changes that have already been revealed, even in small pieces, proliferation's a Small Thing. I mean, haven't we all heard about a Brand New Powerset known as Time Manipulation that's coming? For all we know, the next buff that everyone wants to have is in that set somewhere, or it could be an even better debuffer than Rad or Traps.

And considering how easily things can be BRO-KEN in Beta, I wouldn't be too shocked if Time Manipulation did have a buggy power right now that makes it a more awesome debuff set than both Rad and Traps combined because of a misplaced decimal or two.

I heard a rumor about a leaked set of patch notes from Beta, saying that there was still going to be no proliferation again when Proliferation was promised to be an ongoing effort.

I bet we'll see this set either with i21, or in a patch shortly after.

  16. Hassen....I HATE to say this since I'm not even a PvP person...but before Issue 13 launched, Positron stated that they were going to have PvP as one of their primary focal points from then on...

NORMALLY I support the devs, but this statement from Positron about being 'committed' to bringing about a NEW feature related to a minority portion of the playerbase when the last time he made a similar statement the followup was a bunch of nothing that the vocal PvP crowd will be all too pleased to remind people of over and over again...in their forum signature sometimes...

And of course, the unspoken corollary: V.I.P. players get these as part of their subscription at no additional cost.

So, since we know that 400 Points = $5...

    400-point stipend
    400-point arc
    ...
Looks like VIP's are only paying ~$5 for continued access to the full game and the other $10 goes to the 'free' points and signature arcs. And that's only if you pay on a monthly plan...

I have a 14-month plan that renewed in March....I am HAPPY that I won't be charged again until May and am essentially only paying about $10 a month to begin with. People on a yearly+2months subscription are basically going to be playing the full core game for free and their 'subscription' goes towards store-goodies and/or equivalent value stuff.

It doesn't have the healing of Thermal, the slows and debuffs of Ice, or the over the top survival of Force Fields. It's simply does not have the buffing power or crowd control to keep pets alive nor does it have a significant enough -res debuffing to make it worth taking if it's damage you're looking for. Freezing Rain and Sleet have more -res than disruption field, have a knockdown component, and -def debuffs. Sonic is even burdened with two pretty useless powers. Sonic Cage and Sonic Repulsion. Although I'm sure someone will speak up about how they took and use both these powers and how they are totally worth getting kicked by annoyed team mates.

In short, if they want this set viable for MMs they are going to have to finally break down and bring it up to speed with current content.
Let's face facts here...the main way to do that would be to make the -res able to be enhanced.

The problem with that, as I understand things, is that the game can't tell the difference between a - and a + on enhancements. This is why Slow sets in powers like Siphon Speed will cause it to provide an even greater run speed boost. This is why Endmod sets make both buff and debuff powers more powerful.

So, if the devs make the -res enhanceable, they run into three major issues:
    1. Hami-O's with +res slotted into these powers will enhance the -res. (From what I understand, this is the very reason the -res is marked unenhanceable to begin with.)
    2. There are no -res enhancements, or sets.
    3. Alpha Slot powers with +res would boost the -res similar to Hami-O's.

Making things even more complicated is that allowing the -res to be enhanced means that EVERYONE will have to completely revamp their slotting strategy on any character that has a -res power...because they would NOT just do it to Sonic sets.

I may not know as much as some of you, I may have been playing less time, but even I can see that an overhaul of -res is needed...and would likely take up as much Powers Team coding time as it would take Animation coding time to make a full set of whip-based powers...and considering the few whip attacks in Demon Summoning were said to take as much time to animate as entire other powersets with nine powers...

    So Beta server?

I think a more pertinent question is 'Has Closed Beta even started yet?'

For all we know this could all still be in internal testing and development and they're just telling us what they have planned.

Such is life on any forums.
Okay: Name another Scrapper/Brute defense set that includes a Stealth power with a taunt aura tied to their mez protection power instead of being a damage aura.

EA has had stealth since day one, right? Why on earth would the devs intentionally change a power so as to completely invalidate another power in the exact same set? The proposed changes are likely going to be made with the stealth capabilities of the powerset AS ORIGINALLY MADE in mind.

I have faith in the development team, they have learned from past mistakes and are working to make sets better.

As for the issues stripped from the quote: Mapping takes more time and effort than I think you realize. Imbalanced effects take time to be noticed and data properly gathered once abuses are noticed....
  21. Well, considering my join date being about 6 months after first trying the game and getting an account...yeah.

I'm new to the game, so what? I'm an optimist....so what?

The devs have the best interests of the game in mind, they aren't going to intentionally screw over the playerbase. Without counting fixes to AE to make it not as easy to abuse like a red-headed stepchild for farming, the last huge 'screw you' to the majority of the players was...what? Enhancement Diversification? Global Defense Nerf?

i13 PvP may count for PvPers, but everything else was LONG before my time. What I have seen in my time has all been good stuff. Super Sidekicking, Power Customization, Ultra Mode, Going Rogue....

Okay the 'Party Pack' was a stupid move, and I was never going to buy it....then I got drunk and bought it.
  22. That is why I said it seems like a violation at a glance. It really isn't since the PBAoE Control aspect is retained and improved by substituting a more suitable/useful effect.

I think that there are going to be only two people angered by this change:
    1) Those that had the knockback set +recharge proc slotted in it. (forgot the name of the set)
    2) People that like to go Minion-Bowling.
  23. Personally, I think the Mastermind version SHOULD be changed to be 'Target Ally' rather than being restricted to ONLY pets.

I mean, this is the ultimate power in /Poison and it is really only one step above Poison Trap in usefulness because it depends on AI of pets...which really sucks.

I get the sense the above quote was made by someone that hasn't actually stealthed by the previously mentioned mobs that see through stealth.

Here's the reality - if I'm stealthing to mission objectives and I'm in a pve invis state, then I can go by Nems, Rikti, Rularuu (but not KoA) and just get a few potshots by specific mobs that can see me, very survivable. If I become unstealthy, then all of those mobs will fire. Against Rularuu, that's extremely dangerous.

Furthermore, if you're only stealthed (not invis), which is what Energy Cloak provides, you will attract far more fire while stealthing with a taunt aura than without. So turn mez protection off? No good when you're simply stealthed, as stealthing in crowded spaces will draw fire. Most all meleers can take this fire, no problem, but that's because they have their mez shield on. Having no mez shield in this scenario is deadly.

I really, really want to emphasize that a taunt in a mez protection is a very very bad idea.

On the other hand, I don't want to just be a complainer, I like all the other things I've seen for i21, especially for Energy Aura and Poison.

But back to complaining - please don't include taunt in Entropy Shield.

Is it a big change? No. But it's also one that wouldn't make much sense to me, were it implemented.

If you didn't do the math from my earlier post, I have about 2000 hours on my /EA brute. When I say that putting the taunt aura into the mez protection doesn't make much sense to me, that's both from a lay game-design perspective ("Why would that be done?") and the perspective of a long-term player of the set ("Why should I need to toggle on/off mez protection on a melee character that's never had to worry about being mezzed while stealthing missions before?").

Like I said, though, this would make so little sense to combine that I'm guessing the mez protection got moved to another toggle and we just haven't been told about it yet. The original posting did say something about summarizing, rather than providing the detailed patch notes.
You know, I hate to have to say this to people that have been playing longer than I have but...the devs have the tech to handle this, remember? They made it for Stalkers, it's called 'Suppress when Hidden.'

They KNOW that there are people that love the 'Stelth Broot!' style of playing. They KNOW that there would be an outcry if this playstyle, one that really only works with the powerset being changed, were to be negated. Chances are the taunt Does Not Function when the stealth power is active.

The note says nothing about mez protection being removed either, so look at this as an added benefit: If your taunt aura is active, you know you're protected. Should you have a blue bar crash for some reason, you won't have to worry about 'will my taunt turn off before my mez protection, or will my mez get detoggled while I'm still taunting?' since they're the same power. This is a GOOD thing.

For some reason, I feel dirty being the voice of reason. Why doesn't anyone else think that the devs might actually know what they're doing?
  25. Yes, let us end the...wait what? You mean this rule prevents the devs from screwing us over simply because they want to?

Yes, you can make the argument that the cottage rule has been 'irrevocably shattered' with the changes brought to a certain powerset due to proliferation giving it a much-needed deep look, but the powers still do what they were intended to do.

Repulse as a PBAoE 'control' being removed and replaced seems like a violation at a glance...then you have to stop for a moment and consider which is more useful for a Stalker to begin with: A) Pushing stuff out of melee range on a melee AT or B) Allowing said melee AT to stun enemies in range with a PBAoE effect.

I know, let's do this same change in reverse! Let's turn Opressive Gloom into Repulsive Visage! A PBAoE stun becomes a PBAoE repel/kb with maybe a chance for fear component for ***** and grins! What's that? That change sucks? But the chance for fear can stack with Cloak of Fear!

I may not have been playing as long as some of you, but even I can spot a bad idea like Repulse from a mile away.

As for inserting a taunt aura into a mez protection power breaking the rule: Does it remove the mez protection? Has it even been stated how it will coexist with EA's stealth capabilities? For all you know the stealth power could suppress the taunt when active, and the breaking point would be when the brute attacks and the stealth turns off for the taunt to come on.

Hmmm, interesting theory that just popped into mind from pondering that. It would make an EA brute similar to a Stone Armor one. One stealths in and then BAM! Entire spawn aggros the brute when they whip out an AoE and their stealth suppresses to allow the taunt aura, just like a SA brute does when teleporting into the middle with Mud Pots active. The main difference is that Mud Pots is a damage aura and SA's mez protection is elsewhere whereas an EA brute will KNOW that their mez protection is active if their taunt aura is.
