As a game designer myself I want the implementation of a game to match it's design.

    [/ QUOTE ]

But design isn't something that's set in stone from day one. It evolves as the game proceeds (which is why playtesting is so crucial). In any case, when you face Antimatter, you're still facing Antimatter, just the Elite Boss version rather than the AV version.

I don't see why you'd want to face the version that requires a team rather than the version that doesn't. AVs weren't designed for solo players, so citing original intended design seems a bit odd to me.
  3. [ QUOTE ]
reset the mission to face that Elite Boss as an AV, the way I was originally meant to face it,

    [/ QUOTE ]

Out of curiosity, why is the original intent relevant?
  4. [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
Or simply, when a mission is completed, then the mission is marked as completed.

    [/ QUOTE ]
But since this is the way it actually does work, there is no exploit there.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    I thought the idea was:

Person A has glowie mission, set to Invincible
Person B joins team, both enter
    Person A quits
Person B stealths mission, gets mega XP

Person A's mission isn't marked as 'completed' because they weren't there - it was finished by someone who wasn't on the team.

(so in that case, you could potentially fix this by denying mission completion bonus if the owner wasn't present when the mission was completed.)
  5. [ QUOTE ]
And hope mission owners never lag out?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    hmmm. point.

I'm going to go with my 'stealth-suppressing cameras and +perception patrols' solution, I think.
  6. [ QUOTE ]
OK, that's an exploit I hadn't thought of. The solution may be, if a person quits a team (as opposed to disconnects) the mission fails.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Alternatively, boot the team-quitter off the map unless it's their mission, in which case you boot everyone else off the map.
  7. [ QUOTE ]
Yes, it is repeatible. You set up the mission, *quit* from the team and select a different mission. The team is doing your mission, but you are no longer connected to it for completion purposes.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Ooh, I learned something new!

OK, that's very interesting. So you could basically just complete the same mission over and over and PL yourself with no risk.

Makes sense that they wanted to nerf that, then.
  8. [ QUOTE ]
    (5 million customers=doing something right).

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's called 'successfully pandering to the lowest common denominator'.

    Popularity =/= quality.
  9. [ QUOTE ]
as far as Caleb, nobody has seen him, so how do you know is is an AV instead of a Giant Monster?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I don't. I'm inferring that from what Posi says.
  10. [ QUOTE ]
since "Hami" is the only AV word spawn in the game, why not just specifically say Hami......

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's all the mitos, too. And...

    *cough* caleb *cough*
  11. [ QUOTE ]
Any time you use "most" in a situation with exploit, someone will turn it to "always abused".

    [/ QUOTE ]

But part of what makes an exploit an exploit is repeatability. If we're talking mission complete XP here, how is that exploitable? Once you've finished the mission, you can't go back and do it again.
  12. [ QUOTE ]
one of the most common respodendes was "Watch the devs post how their going to lesten it to suppression and give us the old bait and switch 'see we do listen toyou its just going to be suppression now"

    [/ QUOTE ]

The Devs haven't said that. States LIKES the suppression idea, which was suggested here.

What the players need to do, IMO, is address the problem rather than the solution. If a stalker (for example) can whiz through a mission, click all the glowies and thus finish it without once facing a risk, is this a problem?
  13. [ QUOTE ]
But then it occurred to me that maybe this just shows how starved for something positive the players of this game really are. These reactions are not unlike giving food to a starving man, or water to someone that has just walked across a desert.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not really. It's just that this particular change - replacing AVs with Elite Bosses under certain circumstances - addresses two of the oldest and most galling problems with the game, namely the Forced To Team feeling coupled with the Can't Progress feeling.

AVs are SUPPOSED to be a major, entertaining challenge; as it is, they're more likely to be a frustrating roadblock. You can't tackle them on your own (with certain special exceptions) and you have to go through the hassle of recruiting a team to deal with them. Otherwise, no more missions from that contact. That has been the case practically since day one here.

When several Elite Bosses were turned into AVs over in CoV, there was much moaning and gnashing of teeth for exactly this reason. Elite Bosses were how a lot of us felt AV fights should be - hard to tackle but not impossible; now they were team-needing roadblocks.

So, it's not that this is a scrap of something nice tossed to the starving, it's a very sweet fix for an old, aggravating problem.
  14. [ QUOTE ]
Yes, I remember it the same as well. It sucks that the Devs are actually human and can leave out information.

    [/ QUOTE ]

No, it sucks that we didn't get the whole story during Beta when there would have been an opportunity to address it. Don't pretend that this is about bashing the Devs.
  15. [ QUOTE ]
That's not what we were told before. It was said to us that if we failed to pay rent, our base would lose functionality, but we could still enter it normally. Also, we were told at about hte same time that rent could never get more than one "rent cycle" behind- it doesn't accumulate, and paying the most recent rent charge would catch us up completely.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's exactly how I remember it, too. FWIW.

They should improve the drones' response time, as well as make them give reduced or no debt, because of this crap.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Debt is apparently going to be removed from police drones.

We are going to implement a couple changes to make this better. The early brokers will only require 3 missions and 1 heist to introduce a new contact. In addition, if a group completes a broker mission everyone on the team will get credit toward a heist that will lead to a new contact introduction.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You guys are really on a roll tonight with the QoL stuff!
  19. [ QUOTE ]
I wanted to take a couple minutes to let you know that we aware of this issue. We want people to at least know where the PvP zones are and how to get to them. We don’t want players to feel forced into PvP combat. To address this issue we are going to take several steps. Players will be sent to liaisons that will be outside the PvP zones. They will explain that there is mission content available from a contact within the zone but will not, I repeat will not, force you to that contact. If the player wishes to go in the zone and find the contact they are free to do so. Just like a Task/Strike Force contact, PVP contacts don’t need to be introduced. As soon as a player clicks on them, they will offer mission content.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Absolutely fantastic. Thanks!

GS: If we know our comic books (and we're not claiming we do), we're guessing that the battle between villains and heroes will go on for a while. But at some point, there may be a need to freshen up the conflict, possibly by banding heroes together with villains to face a new, more-powerful threat? In the future, can we expect to see an invasion of aliens or otherworldly creatures that forces heroes and villains to work together?

    Jack: You read my mind.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    So...I still got nothin'.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I found a piece of Alien Tech salvage today. Looked sort of like an ammonite.

It mentioned that technology from an alien race - 'not Kheldian, something new' was beginning to turn up.

    They're cooooomingggg....

I wonder if our first contact will be Mr. Morden...

    [/ QUOTE ]

One of your contacts in CoV Breakout is Mr. Morben.

    Suspiciously close, methinks.
  22. [ QUOTE ]
Sorry Jack, but what you are saying simply doesn't match what I see when I log in. Back around I2/I3 you couldn't turn a corner without running into a group of heroes, you could throw together a TF in minutes.

    [/ QUOTE ]

All that means is that more people used to streetsweep back in the day. I know I did. You'd grab a team, then just move from group to group in the streets. When you broadcast to put a TF together, heroes could hear you because they were outdoors.

These days, with the mission bonus and all, heroes are much, much more likely to be indoors.

What the heck is with both these names being anagrams of 'Respec Trial?'

    Anyone? Anyone? Devs?

Is it too silly to mention that a "full team of 75 level 50 characters" could bang out Influence at an insane rate? Soloing kora fruit mission to test my I6 AR/Dev I pulled in something like 9 million Influence in an afternoon. So a SG of 30 level 50 characters can easily bang out 540,000 Prestige an afternoon. Over two weeks of casual play you are looking at 7,560,000 Prestige or the start of a good sized base and that is not even counting the hundreds of millions of Influence just waiting to be converted on the current 50s.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The exchange rate was SUPPOSED to be arranged so that you could always earn more Prestige over a set amount of time by gaming in SG mode than you could by earning Inf and converting it. If that isn't working, then something's gone awry,
