    8 Hero ThemeTeam

Ok, so first informal meeting done lets see what we have come up with.

It looks as if Military is the official theme choice with an Urban/Covert unit sort of feel. It has been suggested using stealth armour for the regular troopers and something more battlesuit or tech"ish" for the Tankers and or the Controllers.

Just as Wolfman set up a list to decide themes i have been asked to start one to find peoples prefered ATS and sets. so I will start. As before, cut and paste the list whilst ading your choice.

The above ideas are all still only suggestions so please feel free to add comments/opinions one and all.

Lady Leprechaun - Preferably a Grav/Force Field Controller

Spirit, shame you can't make it but don't worry, nothing is going to be decided there, after all, this team is really Wolfmans idea and we don;t know if he is going to be there. I only suggested it as a chance to meet up and a chuck a few ideas about.

How about we all meet up with some exisiting toons at 15:00 tomorrow (UK TIME THAT IS) under the Atlas statue. We can have a chat, deide on names/alts cosie isues etc. Then we can agree a time to all create new alts and go through the tutorial together. I will be there anyway as Lady Leprechaun so I will be easy to spot.
  4. I have never played the epics as I don't have a 50 but I have seen the trouble they have in normal teams with Quantums/Voids. They usually need the rest of the team to take those down fast before they get hurt.

Now, in an entire WS/PB team, would that not leave you all very vulnerable whn you come across a Void/Quantum? Just a thought.
  5. I would be up for that some time this weekend.

I have a few toons in the level range that can join. A BS/Regen Scrapper at the lower end of things or an Psy/Empath Defender at the upper end.

I confess tho that I am VERY rusty playing either of them since I have been focused on my main for a while now.

Actully I just had a cracking thought for a name of the group/team if the military idea goes forward...

    Super Troopers!

    (Cue the Abba Music guys!)

Oh come on, its better than the village people option earlier in the thread!
  7. Responding to a few point made in this thread.

I agre that generally SB helps improve a team but I still prefer not to have it on my characters. First time it hppens in a team I will ask to be excluded from future buffs and 9 times out of 10 that happens. As has ben said, simple communication goes a long way.

I sympathise with the Storm isues as well. Lady Leprehaun is a Stormie 'troller and I don't think there is a single poer in the set that won't get you told off when you use it!

With the exception of Tankers (which I can't get to grips with!) and the Epics (no 50s yet!) I have played all the ATs up to level 20ish and a few into the late 30s. It CAN give you a fantastic insight into how to play effectively when teamed with others but only if you make the effort to think about the effects of what you do. It is easy to just get into the mindet of your current AT and forget the big picture (Scrapperlock anyone?)

I don;t know if it's because I seem to have a better "knack" for the sets or some other reason but I usually find that my D3 tends to be much more appreciated on teams than any of my other support Alts. Have others found similar? If so it may be worth a discussion on why that should be?

Ignore my last post I am an idiot, did not quite pick up on the narrowed down options! so this is my revised entry. In terms of the themes I would vote Miltary first, then PPD Swat and not keen on Hobo idea, I will Rank the Military next to my name in the team list.

    Team 1
    - ZeWolfman
    - Diakos [Military](specialists style preferably)
    - Felzius [Hobo] Broken bottle fighting tank
    - Spirit [PPD]
    - Lady Leprechaun (Military)

    8 Hero ThemeTeam

A very tough choice between the Badass and the UN Options but I think the Badass idea would give the group more of a unified look when all together.

    Team 1
    - ZeWolfman
    - Diakos [Military](specialists style preferably)
    - Felzius [Hobo] Broken bottle fighting tank
    - Spirit [PPD]
    - Lady Leprechaun (Badass)

First off, showing my advancing age and ignorance here but... a TF2 theme? Whats TF2?

Not really grabbed by the Hobo theme to be honest. A super hero version of "The Beggars" from Discworld is bit too much to get my head around.

The knight is armour theme is good as I already have a tanker creatd that under level 10 that fits that. I like the Badass theme as well, a sort of biker gang turned heros works for me. I have a TA/Archery defender at level 4 that fits that.

Quick edit here as an iddea ocured after I posted. Another advantage of the "Badass/Biker" theme is that it allows scope for a fair bit of originality in costume so we would not look identical. It would still give a unified look of "a gang" when we all stand together but it will also allow the characters to look cool if they ever solo.

For a theme, you could go for a United Nations Hero group and have them themed around different countries. I am thinking like a Captain Britain, Captain America type thing you know? It gives the characters a link but allows them to retain some individuality in their look.

Alternatively you could go the opposite way and have "The Clone Crew" All heroes will be varying ATS but will look identical and all have the same name except with differing numbers. For example Captain Clone 01 would be a blaster while Captin Clone 02 would be the Tanker or whatever. Only problem is would it look like a strange variant of a Longbow Patrol when all staning together?

    8 Hero ThemeTeam

I have to be honest, I rarely team in game at the mo. Firstly I like to take time to read the clues, follow the plots etc and some teams are just too "rushed" to do that. Also, I have had such mixed experience in pugs that it's put me off a little. The idea of teaming with the same crowd tho, and building up an effective play style, that could be cool.

I have a full set of heroes on Union and around 4 villains on Defiant. About 4 of the heroes are all under level 5 and all of the villains are, so starting at ground level so to speak is no problem for me.

Like some others, Fridays and Saturdays tend to be bad nights for me (but not impossible), and occasionally (once or twice a month) I have to travel for work and would be unavilable on the odd week night.

Providing the above stuff is not a problem I am up for this if ya want me. Either PM me or drop me an email in game (the global is Lady Leprecahun) and I can let you know what archetypes I could bring to the group.
  13. Londoner,

Re the point about picking up free insps and enhancements from te SG Storage. You could have pointed out how much INF those people probably saved doing that, which means they likely came of better in the deal even if they DID leave and lose prestige. So,definite point to you there.

As for the INF gift ar later levels to help em round out their character. There really is nothing one can say in argument about that. One could in fact say its a fair balance for the intense log on schedule to earn the prestige. Game set and match to the man with the Union Flag.

    Hat's off to you dude
Now, where do I sign up?
  14. My own order of choice (like you I am not posting slots here) is as follows:

    1 Ice Bolt
    1 Chillblain
    2 Ice Blast
    4 Frozen Fists
    6 Aim
    8 Freeze Ray
    10 Frost Breath
    12 Combat Jumping
    14 Super Jumping
    16 Build Up
    18 Swift
    20 Health
    22 Stamina
    24 Acrobatics
    26 Ice Storm
    28 Ice Patch
    30 Bitter Ice Blast
    32 Bitter Ffeeze Ray
    35 Blizzard
    38 Shiver
    41 Flash Freeze
    44 Frozen Armour
    47 Hibernate
    50 Snow Storm

As you can see, I have taken both the Freeze Rays to suplement my Chillblain and quite a few other slow powers as well. The controller aspects are one of the particular strengths of the ICE sets (as opposed to FIREs DoT or ELECTRICs END drain) and to me it seems a shame not to use them to the max.

Anyway, thats my two pence worth so I will belt up now. Whatever route you take and whatever powers you pick, the important thing is that its YOUR Blaster, and as long as you have fun then don't let anyone tell you your build is wrong.

    Good Luck!
  15. Well I was looking at it and thinking about your comment around chilblain being annoying.

Given that you have so VERY few attacks in there before level 20 (getting all your pool stuff in) I figured you would be very glad of the little controller aspect of the power to help keep mobs at bay.

THEN I looked closely and thought, that REALLY IS very few attacks! and I noticed why. You have swift in at level 8 and again at level 16. You might want to drop one of those in favour of another attack.

Seriously though, ICE/ICE is a GREAT combo for a Blastroller and you might want to think more seriously about some of the holds. Apart from being handy for taking on a few mobs at a time (lock mob one, lock mob two and blast away at three - rinse and repeat) it also makes taking out tougher solo mobs easier coz you can stop 'em or slow 'em while you keep the range and blast away.

Actually after I posted I realied somethign else about your build so am now editing this. The Swift at 16 is going to have to be replaced by HEALTH as without that you cant take stamina at 20. Personally I would take another attack in your late teens and move health and stamina back a litle. I reckon Stamina at 22 is fine.
  16. Londoner,

    Fair counter there.

I guess for some people the idea of being with the big hitters in one of the "premier" SGs may well be a big incentive even if it ain't my cup of tea.

Again, if you like getting into all the business of base raids that would also be a big draw though why you would want to "risk" such damage to your base when upkeep for it is already massive strikes me as a bit odd. But again each to their own.

Finally, as you point out, its up to recruits if they stay or if they go once they understand the rules. They ain't exactly tied to a ong term contract. A case I guess of "you take your choice THEN pay your money (or prestige anyway).

Still, the cynic in me points out that if you do join the group, stick around for 2 weeks (logging in at least 5 times in that period) then decide you don't like it and quit, the SG are still the ones that benefit coz the prestige stays put. Also they don't particularly care about "why" they lost a member since they have replacements queuing up to take the slot.

I realise that running an active SG takes a lot of hard work to keep it "alive" but that methodology still strikes me as being very mercenary. Not wrong, just mercenary.
  17. And in my case it was a very helpful Forumite who spared the time to join the group and invite & Promote my alts.

Incidentally, going to the post made by Scotland's Bru about thos SGs kicking people then doing an immediate recruitment, that sounds to me like a horrible way to run a Super Group.

They obviously don't give a hoot about the type of person they are recruiting for a start. No getting to know the person to see if they are fun to team with or anything like that.

Also, it can't be that welcoming to be told, "Hi welcome to the group now don't stand here talking to me, get out there and earn us some prestige! By the way if you don't log on at least once every three days your outta here ya loser!!!!"

Quite frankly that sounds to me like the senior members of the SG are simply "pimping" any mug they can get to join for prestige just to keep their own spangly base running.

I wonder how many of the leaders of those SGs actually log on themselves every three days and if not do THEY get kicked? Probably not. I also wonder, even if they do log on, how much effort they make to earn some of that prestige themselves. Maybe they are too busy going out trying to trap new slaves er I mean "recruit new members" into joining the group.
  18. My SG is literally a role play thing for my alts and I have no other members. I recko, when I get it done i will have a working base, kitted out with crafting, transport, medical and storage facilities all on the basic plot.

At that point I may even invite some other players on board?

    he he he
  19. Are the TAs rea;;y as good as all that?

I only sk as I have a level 3 one sitting on server that i roilled as a concept toon. It's in the cue to be played when i finally get my main to 50. (In about 2010 at this rate)

If they are they fancy I may jump her up the queue over my D3 defender,
  20. Oh Goodie!!!!!! Thank you for those answers.

Now, why is there no Graemlin for "totally evil smirk"? coz I could really use one around now.
  21. Hey this is excellent news!

Looks like I won't be deleteing "Battle Banshee" after all.

Thanks for the input/advice there all.
  22. If I put enough RecReds into this power is it possible to have more than one cloud in play at the same time?
  23. Hi all,

Firstly, I need to make clear that I tend to be very much a solo player on all my alts, usually teaming only for GM hunts and TFs.

Now, bearing the above in mind, I recently created a Sonic/Sonic Defender based solely around a character concept rather than any huge urge to play the sets. Looking through the various powers and trying to plan ahead a bit with the build I am thinking I may HAVE to team with this toon if I want to get anywhere.

The combo seems VERY VERY team support oriented even for a Defender so I am wondering, is it possible to solo effectively with the Sonic/Sonic pairing?

    Ernesto Hess' TF

Looks like you will have a full team but, in case there are some no shows I will meet you folks by Ernesto Hess on Friday.

I can either bring Lady Leprechaun my level 35 Illusion Storm Controller or Demon of Darkness, my level 31 Dark/Dark Scrapper.

    Hope to see you Friday.
  25. Hey dude, welcome back and sorry to hear about your PC probs!

Been kinda busy myself with RL stuff so not been on much either. Sorry I missed your last patrol but am happy to give a hand with low level stuff as before, using either Harlequin Healer or Shadow Scout. Send me a message if and when ya need me.
